Hero sat on the side of the building, their feet dangling off the edge. They liked the feeling of it, liked playing with their own mortality. Maybe that was why they were so good at their job.
They leaned closer to the edge, peering over at the street. Cars crawled like ants trapped in the mid afternoon traffic.
"If not for your own peace of mind, then for mine, please get away from the edge."
Hero didn't need to look to know Villain. "Surely you should be pushing me off it."
"Hero, stop it."
Hero sighed and got to their feet, turning to face Villain. "Why? Does this make you... uneasy?" They rocked backwards on their heels.
"Hero, stop-"
Hero could tell exactly when Villain had had enough. But that wasn't too hard, because they darted forwards like a lightning bolt and pulled Hero into them with a strong hand around their wrist.
Hero felt like their breath had been stolen in that single touch. "Sorry," they said, soft and breathless.
Villain rolled their eyes. "You better not do that again, you hear me? If you die, I better be the one who kills you."
Hero brushed a stray lock of hair from their cheekbone, and Villain's gaze softened. They pressed their forehead against Hero's. "Promise me, okay?"
Hero rolled their eyes. "Fine. I pinky promise you get to murder me."
"Good." Villain replied, and then they kissed them - so softly Hero felt it might be a dream. They leaned into their touch, as if they could merge and become one if only Hero put enough force into it.
Maybe this was a better thrill than standing on the edge of buildings.
Can you do angsty romantic prompts/angsty love triangle prompts/bad timing angsty romantic prompts
angsty romance prompts as requested by anonymous
1. your eyes keep searching for theirs almost like it's automatic. maybe that's why you know that they're never looking at you, but at the girl sitting on the other far end of the room, sipping a drink.
2. your calendars are all marked; there's a big red circle around today's date. you're so ready for this, you've been preparing a week ahead - even went to their favourite book store to buy a book you know they've been eyeing for a while. the gift wrapped book sits neatly inside your bag, and you're skipping steps to see them as soon as you can—
you finally see them but they're not alone. oh. you've never seen them smile like that before. oh wow. you can't believe how gentle that smile looks framed by the sunset, but it's not for you. you turn around, and the gift bag digs into your skin from how tightly you're holding it.
3. you can do this. you can do this. you can do —
"hey," you finally begin before your mind shuts you up again. "I need to tell you something."
you know you have their attention, judging by their pursed lips and raised eyebrows. you feel like they're screaming the word "what?"
"um , it's— I like you."
you wish for a smile to grace their features but unfortunately for you, your wishes don't come true.
"I already knew," they say and it feels like someone stabbed you in the back.
"h-how long?" why didn't you say anything? why were you silent all this time? oh. ohh.
suddenly, everything makes sense. you don't need an answer to know that your feelings are not returned. you try a weak attempt at a smile, just so that you don't start crying on the spot.
4. "hey, I understand you love me, but you know that we need to settle on a place to live together, if we want to be together... right?"
"I know, I know, but I don't know what I'm going to do with my life yet! you have everything figured out, and I... I don't even know what I'm going to do tomorrow!!"
you feel the familiar feeling of your throat closing up again - you've had this conversation way too many times to know how it ends.
"I understand love, but we gotta at least make a plan right? at least try to?" you feel like you're pleading but you try and ignore it.
"is it so bad to just live in the present?" they ask and something in you snaps.
"so what? just so we can break up when I have to move back home? I can't stay here, my course gets over in a few months!!"
you hear just their breathing for a moment from the other end of the line. you wish things could be that peaceful.
"I don't plan my life like yours... I can't — it just makes me feel stuck."
you let silence fill the words you don't want to say, or the words you don't want to hear. you just don't know anymore.
5. "you know I still love you the same way I did before right?"
you sigh. this was hard for you too but they don't seem to get it.
"I know and I loved you too."
a pause. "I loved you. that's all you seem to say to me nowadays. that you don't love me anymore."
they don't need to know that you had to say it enough times to yourself to believe it.
"how can I trust you the same way again? after you broke my heart and gave me a year of radio silence, just to come back and claim that you love me again? please don't test me!"
only I know how those 365 days felt like an entire lifetime of endless pain.
thank you for being my first ask anon! i hope you like this :)

You stop in mid-motion, with your lips no more than two or three centimetres from theirs. Your breath fans warm onto their flushed skin as they look questioningly up into your eyes. They want you to kiss them. They expect you to kiss them. It’s written all over that adorable little frown of theirs.
But you won’t just hand yourself over to them on a silver platter. You’re not that cheap. And besides, you’re certainly not going to make it that easy. You won’t allow room for them to make excuses later, to tell themself you forced them and that they hadn’t actually wanted any of it.
No.
You know your own worth.
You are far too precious for that.
If they want you they’ll have to put in the necessary effort first. It has to be their choice, made of their own free will. If they want a taste of you they’ll have to claim it by themself.
They’ll have to seal this deal with their kiss.
You see the realisation gleam in the depths of those eyes they’re watching your every move with so attentively. A hint of desperation creeps into the lines on their face. Their throat bobs as they swallow, you can feel it brush against the back of your fingers.
A smile tugs at the corner of your mouth as you withdraw the hand that had been gently lifting their chin. They’re now free to turn their head away from you or lower it, but they do no such thing. Something in your gaze seems to be holding them in place still, even after you’ve removed the caress of your fingers.
The distance between you appears to be melting away gradually. You wonder whether they’ve noticed they’re slowly closing it. If so, they’re doing a great job at not letting it show on their face.
You can’t help but sigh as their breath starts to mingle with your own. So close you’re even breathing each other now. Traces of them are in the air all around you. The scent they carry conjures an image of an afternoon walk through the forest on a warm summer day.
Their half-opened lips tremble ever so slightly against yours. You’d think them vulnerable and on the verge of surrender, if it weren’t for that glint in their eyes, the persistent defiance underneath all that need and longing. There is a glimpse of danger lurking in the shadows, a predator.
They draw a gasp from you, running the nails of their fingers down your spine. You knew they’d try something, yet somehow this catches you by surprise anyway. Your body shudders against theirs.
Pressed flush to them now, you suddenly become keenly aware this is the closest you’ve ever been to them. The heat of their body seeps into you, seemingly unhindered by the oh so thin layers of clothing separating you from one another.
They wink at you, as if to tease you one more time. Then a simple touch of their tongue along your upper lip makes the last remnants of your self-restraint crumble as well. You lean in.
And just like that you lose yet another one of these little games.
You should have known better than to underestimate them!
this can be for anyone - your crush, s/o, close friends. i hope you'll have fun with this!
A messaging B to wear layers first thing in the morning because they know that B never checks their weather forecast (and A obsessively checks it every day).
A and B have a study session together where B is already done with most of their work, but A is still looking all focused at their laptop, so B just pretends like they have more work to do while keeping an eye on A, in case A needs anything to be more comfortable.
Knowing that the other prefers hot/cold water and making sure to fill that in another bottle and giving it to them while you fill your own bottle.
You're having a picnic with your friends and you're in charge of buying the drinks, so you're at a grocery shop, scanning the aisles and you find a bottle of so-so that you know A really likes, so you pick it up for them, along with other general drinks for everyone else.
A and B go out to eat with their friends, and when they are leaving the restaurant, B forgets their jacket—deep in conversation with another friend. A picks it up for them, just as B turns back, searching for their jacket. "here you go" "thank you so much! i was just going to go and look for it"
A eats slowly and B knows that but they don't mind at all. B just finishes eating first and engages A by talking to them about something until A finishes eating their food.
B is scared of dogs so the moment they see a dog approaching them, they pull A in front of them like a shield. A just lets B do whatever they want because they're too busy cooing at the dog.
A invites B out to spend the day together because they've been a little worried about them recently. B hesitantly agrees, and by the end of the day, B ends up having so much fun that they both end up going home pretty late.
B is waiting for the bus to arrive so texts A in the mean time so as not to feel bored. "this street lamp looks so yellow!" A genuinely enjoys their randomness, so they of course indulge in it. "oh yeah? what kind of yellow?"
A knowing that B has a very low tolerance to the cold and asking them to go inside and not to wait with them for the bus to arrive. "please go in! you're going to catch a cold!" "it's okay, the app says it's just a few more minutes away."

The hero laid on the roof, watching the stars. They didn’t jump when a voice asked, “Mind if I join you?”
Lazily, one hand motioned towards the otherwise empty rooftop. “Be my guest, Villain.”
It was easy for the world to forget they were teenagers. They hadn’t asked for powers, or responsibility. One was shoved in a costume and pushed towards good, the other tripped into bad luck and fought for bad. The world demanded they grew up, so without much choice, they did.
“Isn’t there a prom happening at like, most high schools tonight?” The villain asked, laying next to the hero.
“Patrolling.” The hero mumbled. “Does your school not have a prom or something?”
The villain smirked. “No, we do. It was just boring.”
The hero turned their head, squinting at the villain. “Liar.”
The villain frowned, looking over to the hero. “I’m not lying!”
With a halfway laugh, the hero sat up. “You raise your voice when you lie.”
The villain sat up to meet the hero’s gaze. “They teach you that in hero training?” They teased. “Or have you just been watching me?”
The hero scoffed, lying back down. “Oh, please. You think you’re the person I want to watch in my limited free time?”
Eyes wide, the villain mimicked the hero again, lying back down. “So you watch someone in your free time?”
“What? No! Don’t twist my words around, nerd.”
This time, the villain did a halfway laugh. “I get better grades than you, I know, but to insult me by using my intelligence? That’s low, hero.”
They remained in silence, listening to the sounds of a city full of night life. Plenty of car horns, occasional streams of music, someone shouting obscenities once or twice.
“Why aren’t you at prom?” The hero asked after rolling on their side to stare at the villain.
It took a minute for the villain to reply. “Why aren’t you actually patrolling?” They didn’t turn to look at the hero.
“Let me wallow in self pity. Besides, I have you to tell me if there are any crimes tonight.”
With a snort, the villain let their eyes wander to the hero. “What, like the grown ones trust me with some itenerary of villainy. Imagine that. ‘At 3:30 tomorrow we’ll be sticking all the kittens in a tree.’”
A genuine laugh from the hero made the villain smile.
“You still didn’t answer my question.” The hero pointed out through subsiding giggles.
One moment, two, three, then four. The villain finally rolled, face to face with the hero.
“Truthfully? I was absolutely certain the person I like would be at a different prom.”
“You said ‘was’.” The hero noted with a cocked eyebrow. “You aren’t certain they’re there now?”
“Now who’s twisting words around?” The villain grinned, a toothy smile.
“Ha, ha, ha. You’re so funny I could die of laughter.”
“Really?” The villain asked in fake shock. “Based on our previous talks, I alway thought pre-cal would be the death of you.”
“This isn’t about me, though.” The hero countered, ignoring the villain’s taunt. “Go to prom. You’ll enjoy it, partner or no partner.”
The villain’s eyebrows furrowed. “Are you really that dumb?”
A hand flew to the hero’s heart, an attempt to look hurt. “I don’t know, you tell me, you make the better grades.”
“You-” the villain started, their heart beating furiously. “This is harder than I thought, I’m supposed to be cool.”
“You can talk to me.” The hero reassure, reaching for the villain’s hand.
On a rooftop a hero and a villain stayed, laying hand in hand.
“I like you.” The villain admitted. “If you can’t go to prom, then we’ll do prom right here.” With more confidence, the villain squeezed the hero’s hand.
At first, there was shock, shock that gradually morphed into a smile.
“That took you forever.” The hero said, still beaming. Gently, they stood, raising the villain with them.
“May I have this dance, hero?”
“Only if I get to lead, villain.”
On a rooftop, two teenagers danced during prom night.

part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4
synopsis: i seriously feel like this gets more trash and cheesy with every new addition but i haven’t felt this excited about writing in… years? so yeah, if you find what’s wrong with this let me know so i can fix it. i think it’s because im super bad at interrupting dialogue with narration without making it look forced. does anyone have any suggestions for that? is anyone even reading the pink part?
“What did they…” the hero whispered, extending an arm to brush their fingers against Villain’s shoulder, “what did they do to you?”
Villain winced at their touch, then seemed to remember where they were and let their muscles relax.
Hero gave them an encouraging look, not entirely sure they were ready to hear whatever had happened that had turned the villain from the fearless, merciless enemy they’d known into… whatever this broken, scared shadow of them was.
“I was supposed to be working with…” they corrected themselves, “for them. For Supervillain. They had a plan, this whole plan to take control of the city, then the entire region, and God know what else.”
“They forced me to join them. You know I’m not interested in that… world-control stuff, you know that.”
“I do know,” they scooted a bit closer to them, careful not to startle them, hoping it would be enough support to continue, “what happened next?”
They finally looked Hero in the eyes, a raw honesty in their expression that the hero would have never dreamed of seeing. “They’d threatened to kill my family if I didn’t help them, I couldn’t just let them do that, right? You would have done the same, right?” They sounded a bit too much like they were begging.
Hero wasn’t so sure of their answer. Were they selfish enough to put the safety of their team before that of thousands of innocents? They decided to lie instead. For the sake of politeness. “Yes, totally.”
Villain seemed reassured. “However, when I got to know more of the plan… it was horrifying, Hero. They’re truly a monster. More than I could ever be. I couldn’t stomach spending another second working on that. So I told them I was going to leave.”
“And that’s when they kidnapped you,” Hero guessed.
Villain nodded, silent.
They scratched lightly at their arm, staring into the distance, as if trying to remember what had happened next.
“They kept me there. There was no reason to, really, it’s not like they were forcing me to cooperate with them. It was just revenge. Plain cruelty fueling them. God, I don’t think I’d ever been that… scared before in my whole life.” Their breath become more irregular, quicker, as their nails left red marks on their skin. “They did hold their promise, they did kill my family. Not just them, some friends too. They burned my house to ashes,” a light sob escaped their lips. “I didn’t even know about that. I only found out all about it after I managed to escape. That sick bastard wanted to make sure they left me with nothing. They did. They won.” Their voice wavered, in a mix of pain and anger. “And then there was that damn cell, where they’d take me, and… it was full of-”
“That’s enough.” Hero interrupted. They grabbed their hand, “Stop, you’re hurting yourself.”
The villain glanced down at their arm, only now noticing the scratches left on their skin. They gagged and shot to their feet, running to the bathroom.
The hero quickly debated whether they should follow them or not, then made their way to the bathroom, finding the villain kneeling in front of the toilet, coughing and spitting into the bowl.
Hero crouched and held their hair away from their face until they stopped vomiting their dinner.
Villain sat on their heels and closed their eyes. “I can’t believe this is the second time you’ve seen me like this today. If this becomes a habit, I’m getting out of here,” they said in fake annoyance. They didn’t look like they had enough energy to actually be annoyed, at the moment.
“I’m sorry, Villain. I shouldn’t have asked.” They truly were sorry. They wished they weren’t, reminding themselves that it was Villain they were talking to, but they couldn’t help it. Them and their damned morals.
The silence stretched as neither of them dared to make a move.
“I have nothing left,” Villain confessed in a whisper, eyes watering, “no one left.”
“Shh,” the hero reached out a hand and cupped the villain’s cheek, surprised at their own actions, “you’re safe, now.”
Villain leaned into their touch instead of flinching, this time. “When you arrested me… there was no point in fighting. Fighting… for what? I have no house, no family to return to.”
“It’s okay, don’t think about that. Everything’s alright,” they stroked their cheek, catching a couple tears with their thumb, “let’s go to bed now, okay? I’ll call you for breakfast tomorrow.”
In the morning, they were both too embarrassed to look each other in the eye.
“What happened last night…” Villain finally spoke, “never ever mention it.”

Hello lollipop anon, and thank you again 🌸
reblog and put in the tags what your favorite fictional characters have in common
Note : Adrian, Ash and Alex are all unisex names, so you're free to imagine your preferred gender in your head ^^
Adrian groans, staring at the blank notebook in front of them. They were supposed to write an essay which is to be submitted tomorrow but they can't seem to find the thing called motivation for the life of them. They've just been feeling so lazy and they can't figure out why.
Even though they may just look like any normal college student who's struggling with their classes, they had another, quite major role to play in society- they were the Hero, and as the title suggests, their job description consists of fighting off villains, rescuing normal civilians, smiling, and more smiling. Adrian wouldn't admit it, but it did get tiring at times. And recently, they've been having to go to these night escapades a lot, since their nemesis, Villain, true to their job description has been causing mischief the entire past week, making Adrian bite off more than they can chew. Thankfully they weren't any serious crimes and most of the time, Adrian felt like they were dealing with a child seeking attention.
And thus here they are, tired of being productive and procrastinating like tomorrow doesn't exist. Oh how they wished that being a hero gave them some leverages in college, but their superiors would bite their head off if word got out. Being a hero was sworn to secrecy, kind of like a secret agent, except in this case, Adrian has to play an entirely different persona.
They groan again, just in time as their friend /roommate walks into the room. "Hey, what's up? Did you get that homework done?"
Adrian gives them a look like they're staring into the void, "You think I'll look like this if I did?"
Their roommate Alex sighed, clearly to them it didn't look like Adrian was going to be done anytime soon and it was already 12 am. They just wanted to sleep, without having to listen to Adrian's groans of agony throughout the night.
"Okay, you clearly need a change of pace so I'll call up this other friend of mine who's great at studying. I met them during a group project and they're like so good!"
Adrian scoffs, but allows Alex to do whatever they want to. It's not like they were bad at studying, they just didn't feel like doing it right now.
Adrian almost dozes off when they hear a loud knock. Alex literally skips over to the door, opening it and eagerly welcoming their new friend into the room. Adrian manages to sit up, still groggy and shakes their head, trying to get themselves to wake up. Once their eyelids cooperate enough, they look up to find two pairs of worried expressions thrown towards them. They immediately whirl around, facing the opposite way, embarrassment eating up their cheeks.
"Uhm, are they okay?" A voice that Adrian has never heard before speaks up. They guess that they're the friend who studies oh so well.
"Well, they're generally better than this, just on lower spirits today." Alex tries to speak up for their roommate.
After explaining the situation to the newcomer, Alex disappears into the quarters of their room with a friendly, "just call out if you need anything!"
Adrian sighs, wanting nothing more then to curl up in their blankets and fall asleep while watching something on their laptop. They were so inside their head, that they failed to notice soft footsteps approaching them and nearly jumped out of their skin when they felt a gentle touch on their shoulders. The said person immediately took a few steps back, clearly flustered by Adrian's reaction.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to surprise you." They speak out, voice sincere.
Adrian immediately felt guilty. They were here for their sake, to help them finish their assignment and here they were, being most possibly the rudest person on the planet. "No no, it's my fault, I wasn't really paying attention."
The newcomer smiles at that and Adrian feels their chest tighten in a way that it has never done before. What the hell?
"I'm Adrian, by the way," they say, desperate to keep the conversation going, "and you are?"
"Ash. I guess Alex didn't tell you much about me?"
"Not much except for the fact that you study really well and that's why you would be the perfect inspiration for me to finish this essay."
Ash laughs at that, "I do handle my studies okay, but I don't know how good of an inspiration I can be, but I'll try my best."
Adrian looks at them, face soft, "You're really a nice person you know?"
Ash almost chokes on air, "Huh?"
Adrian realises that that was probably a really random thing to say, voice spluttering as they try to figure out a way to make this conversation less awkward than it already is.
"N-no, I just meant that you really have no reason to be here, you don't even know me and here you are, willing to help me with my essay and everything. "
Ash chuckles shyly and Adrian has to mentally punch themselves to remind them not to stare at how fine they look, standing under the yellowish lighting of their dorm, the shadows painting their face just right. And not to mention that silky voice... oh God.
" -ping people."
"Huh?" Adrian has to ask, as they just returned to reality from inside their head.
Ash just smiles, repeating again, "I guess it doesn't feel so bad helping people sometimes, and that's why I'm here."
Now it's Adrian's turn to smile, and they tell Ash to sit down and get comfortable, while they pop into the kitchen to make two cups of hot chocolate, Adrian and Ash falling into easy tunes of conversation soon after.
-
It's almost half past two and Ash is staring at Adrian, who is peacefully dozing off on their desk. They sigh, eyes fluttering close for a brief moment, just enjoying this tiny moment of peace. Life is anything but peaceful for Ash because of their other secret identity- they were a villain, and its been days since Ash has felt so at peace. It was getting harder to just stay alive every day, and it didn't help that the other villains around town just keep getting greedier, making them take part in reckless missions. A distressed sigh leaves their lips, as they force all the depressing thoughts back down. They didn't want to think about that right now. Right now, they were safe. For some reason, staying like this besides Adrian made them feel some sort of a familiar warmth settle in the pits of their stomach, though this is the first time that they've met them. It made Ash feel good.
I'm just overthinking this whole thing, as usual, they sigh, giving their head a little shake. They stand up from the couch and tiptoe over to the table where Adrian's sleeping to check on how much they've completed. They still have a page left, their eyes flicker to the clock that reads 4:45 am, so it'll be fine if I let them sleep in a bit more right? Ash did walk over to Adrian's desk with the intention of waking them up but after seeing that peaceful smile, and the way they're sleeping comfortably even on an arm chair, Ash guessed that maybe they really did need their sleep.
Okay, I'll wake them up a little later, and with one last glance, Ash walks back over to the couch, deciding to get some sleep of their own.
This is going to have two more parts I think / so stay tuned! / I was procrastinating so decided to let hero procrastinate too lol / well at least they have villain helping them out / I'm soft / also I played around with tenses for this snippet (you'll see in the upcoming parts) / I hope you all like it anyways:)
She/her / thank you for dropping by and I hope you have a lovely time here! / I also write fanfics on AO3 - Akane000 / requests, messages, credits and tags are very welcome! / please do not repost, thanks :) [cover img credits: sasmilledge@twitter]
