Logan and Wade + the afterlife It's notable how different the roles of Jean and Vanessa are here. Wade sees Vanessa like he always does: through his eyes, kind-hearted, warm, loving, selfless. Vanessa puts him and other people first. Jean on the other hand manifested in Logan's head as all of her worst traits: controlling, manipulative, selfish and with no actual care for him or anyone else. She haunts him throughout the story, blames him for her death as if he murdered her in cold blood (which is probably what Logan feels like), tries to tempt him into giving up and die because that's the easy way out, and even as he finally lets her go, she doesn't seem to acknowledge his feelings.
