Damn Fine Coffee! A Twin Peaks fan zine - Kickstarter!

Hey all! My Twin Peaks-themed anthology zine "Damn Fine Coffee!" just launched its funding project on Kickstarter! This is your chance to place pre-orders on the zine and also to snatch up screen prints, original drawings, AND paintings of Twin Peaks characters. Recently, I was invited to take part in Scout Books GOOD INK: American Shorts. Their series of small books telling classic short stories are each illustrated by one of many talented artists, and it's exciting to be included among them. My story, The Isle of Voices by Robert Louis Stevenson, entails giant warlocks, disembodied voices, and magic shells. Here are a couple of the illustrations that you'll find in the book. Spending some time with a style I rarely get to spend time with. Working this way is so much fun.

It's been so long!  I've missed you all!  Sorry about the lack of posts.  Lately inspiration has been a little bit scarce, but I thought I'd jump back on the horse with a new kaiju painting!  This is Agasukeron, one of my favorites.  These colors aren't exactly true to form as far as the figure goes, but I do love some pink every now and then.

Here's a tip: don't paint with gouache on top of reg'lar old acrylic without some sort of matte medium between the two!  For some reason my brain turned off and I thought I'd save some gouache by painting the background here in acrylic.  Mistake!  Ended up using more gouache to keep my colors solid and even.  So don't be a noob like me: all gouache, combo gouache and acrylic gouache, or make that acrylic a decent surface to paint on.

Not only is Andrea Kalfas an amazing artist, but she’s my best buddy, all-around lovely lady, AND IT’S HER BIRTHDAY TODAY! THIS IS FOR HER! SPX this past weekend was amazing. It always roars up like a storm and then flies by too fast! I had such a great time seeing everyone and the response to “Cauldrons & Casseroles” was more enthusiastic than I'd hoped for, so thanks to everyone that bought a copy!
