Thoughts on monaco as an overall race track?
I usually don't like street circuits but as an overall race track, I do think Monaco is pretty good. I like how challenging the circuit is with the elevation changes and the tight hairpin turn, and also it's just nice to look at.
The race this year was boring because the pit stops under the red flag meant a lull in strategy and movement in the top 10 spots. The size of the cars and the narrowness of the track doesn't help either since it's now nearly impossible to overtake without risking contact.
But I don't think this makes the circuit itself bad. Qualifying was great, other motorsports (and formula feeder series) have raced with more entertaining results, and even if it's notoriously hard to overtake there's usually better strategy to make up for it.
I think smaller/narrower cars would definitely make the race more competitive, but I don't see that happening in the near future. A change in layout to make it possible to overtake more in certain turns would be helpful too, but I'm no track designer though so I've got no clue if that's actually possible.
If I'm super honest, I would trade Monaco for the return of tracks like Sepang. But by itself, it can definitely be enjoyable and I like it.
"Some of these teams have more people in media and hospitality than haas has in it's entire team" is a BRUTAL comment 😭😭
