maxblr when max introduces the helmet for the new season that barely changed since ancient times: OMG! ISN'T IT THE PRETTIEST PIECE OF ART I HAVE EVER SEEN !!!
Ricciardo up 5 places and yuki in P7 š„š„
I know this is a sport and there'll always be drivers or teams you hate/dislike but sending death threats or discrediting a driver's performance for stuff not in their control (and no, I don't believe Lando and the FIA are collaborating per se, the FIA are just terrible on their own accord) is wild behaviour...
If you hate Lando because he's said some questionable things about politics/Max/etc, then sure that's fair game. But your favs would pull team orders and stuff to win too if they had a shot at the championship and you know it. You can be upset about it (I definitely am) but as a huge Max and Oscar fan who could not gaf about Lando, going out of your way to dm him death threats/leave hate comments on HIS OWN CELEBRATION POSTS is so insane to me.
It's clear that some people just don't see the drivers as actual people or assume it's okay to pull this shit because they're public figures. This kind of hate wasn't okay when it was Max-targeted and it's not okay now, for any of the drivers.
2019 rookies - the Summer Triangle (ik this isn't a constellation just keep reading)
Lando Norris - Aquila (The Eagle)
The constellation is easy to spot, flying opposite the celestial Swan (Cygnus). It's located in the fourth quadrant of the northern hemisphere.
Its bright star is Altair, which forms the 'Summer Triangle' with the bright stars of Cygnus and Lyra.
Alex Albon - Lyra (Lyre)
Lyra is a small constellation that lies in the northern sky. The constellation was often depicted as a vulture or an eagle carrying Orpheusā lyre in its wings or beak, and called āthe falling eagleā or āfalling vulture.ā
Vega, it's brightest star, was the first star other than the Sun to be photographed.
George Russell - Cygnus (The Swan)
Cygnus is also sometimes identified as Orpheus, who was transformed into a swan after his passing and placed next to his lyre in the sky. The lyre is represented by the neighboring constellation Lyra.
Charles Leclerc - Columba (The Dove)
The constellationās original name was Columba Noachi, meaning āNoahās dove.ā It was named after the bibical dove that was sent from the Ark to see if there is any dry land left after the Great Flood. The bird returned holding an olive branch in its beak, signalling that the flood was receding.
Lewis Hamilton - Phoenix
Ovid wrote in his Metamorphoses that the Phoenix lived for 500 years. When it reached the end of its life span, the phoenix would build itself a nest, then ignite it and meet its end in the fire. A new bird would be born from the ashes.
Daniel Ricciardo -Ā Apus (Bird of Paradise)
Apus is a small constellation in the southern sky. It represents a bird-of-paradise, and its name means "without feet" in Greek because the bird-of-paradise was once wrongly believed to lack feet.Ā
Max Verstappen - Leo (The Lion)
Leo represents the lion and is usually associated with the Nemean lion in Greek mythology, who lived in a cave near a town and set upon the local inhabitants. It could not be defeated because of it's impenetrable golden fur.
Carlos Sainz - Hercules
Hercules is the fifth largest constellation in the sky, but has no first magnitude stars. It is named after the Roman hero, who had to carry out a series of tasks, one being the slaughter of the Nemean lion. He only managed to kill it by trapping it in it's cave and strangling it with his bare hands.
Might continue this but I'm not quite sure what to put for the others so drop suggestions
Nico Rosberg talking about Checoās mental health, how important a driverās mentality can be, how it would be stupid to put a rookie in the other red bull, how Hulk has deserved better cars than he got and Hulkstappen friendship, how Hungary has always been one of Lewisās favourite tracks and talking about his records once again, how he only calls James Vowles by his surname because thatās how James referred to him, how heās consistently praising drivers rather than criticising them (especially George).
Real F1 commentary is back. Hereās hoping we see more of him this weekend!
Super excited for the Chinese GP since itās been gone for so long⦠hoping Sauber gets their shit together bc I really want Zhou to score points šš
But also, theyāre giving the drivers ONE HOUR to get used to the track before sprint shootout starts, which is insane for a circuit that hasnāt been on the calendar since 2019. Hell, some of the grid havenāt even been on the circuit before. What a decision.
and with that, the 2024 season comes to an end
Its F1 race week again!! Also a reminder that F1 academy is also racing in Miami (3-5th of May) for their second race of the season! :)
Thanks to everyone who let me know he's still in the new grill the grid video :))
Race so wild I had to colour code it. Anyways the quality is terrible so you'll have to click to see a better image.
Of course I missed some stuff (like Ocon having a tear-off in his air duct or whatever happened with Alonso) but I ran out of space so this is all I could get lol
Missed the qualifying session for Jeddah? Can't watch it? Here's a summary of what happened:
Q1 + Pre-Quali
Zhou Guanyu will start P20 after a crash in FP3. Although the car was fixed with a minute to go in Q3, he didn't manage to pass the checkered flag and set a lap-time.
Carlos Sainz gets appendicitis, manages to get P7 in FP2 but takes a break for FP3 and Quali (and the GP too).
Ollie Bearman, who takes pole in F2 after qualifying P19 in Bahrain, gets called in as his replacement for the weekend and manages to get into Q2!
Verstappen sets fastest sector 1 in Q1, Stroll sets fastest middle sector and Bearman sets fastest sector 3.
Eliminated: Bottas, Ocon, Gasly, Sargent, Zhou (a repeat of Bahrain, basically)
Q2
Alex Albon, the only driver in Q2 without a teammate, on used softs
Hulkenberg loses power and stops by the track, a yellow flag is called
Alonso Fastest sector 1 and 2, Verstappen fastest sector 3 (both on new, soft tires)
Tsunoda outqualifies Ricciardo by half a second
Bearman, Albon, Magnussen, Ricciardo and Hulkenberg are eliminated, setting P11-15 for the GP in that order
Q3
Tsunoda and Leclerc without teammates in Q3
Verstappen fastest sector 1, 2 AND 3
Leclerc says the car "feels weird on new tires...difficult to drive"
Max Verstappen takes pole position again, his first ever pole at Jeddah but not likely to be his last. It's also his 34th pole ever.
Leclerc three-tenths behind him gets to start the race in P2. They share pole-P2 in qualifying for the fifth race in a row.
Perez comes in third fastest, Alonso fourth
5-10th fastest is set by Piastri, Norriss, Russell, Hamilton, Tsunoda and Stroll (in that order)
