It’s 2am, I’m bored, and I think it’s about time this community had our own flag god dammit

It’s 2am, I’m Bored, And I Think It’s About Time This Community Had Our Own Flag God Dammit

This is my first draft of a fat liberation pride flag. (made in canva) The four shades of blue stripes represent the four categories of fatness, with infinifat first. The grey background is a nod to the grey in the disability pride flag, which represents the mourning and rage for victims of ableist violence and abuse. I included this because our movements are intertwined. The orca symbol represents power, community, majesty, resilience, and most of all, the struggle for liberation.

And isn’t it punk as fuck to embrace the whale label by intentionally using the killer whale?

☀️ Sunlight, Moonlight 🌙

I realised I never shared this here!

I did a simple paint job on this elephant furby. This custom was a commission for one of my followers over on Instagram. They told me they’d named her Kaleidoscope Sky which is such a beautiful name 🥺

I've always thought elephant furbies were perfect for celestial themed customs ✨

For All Of You Who Struggle To Draw Horse Feet. :) You’ve Gotta Have Those Pasterns In There, As They

for all of you who struggle to draw horse feet. :) You’ve gotta have those pasterns in there, as they are the horse’s main shock absorbers, as seen in the “bearing weight” example.

If you can handle an animal autopsy, here’s an interesting vid on how the muscles and joints work in the lower leg of the horse.

a digital drawing of a dandelion styled like a layered risograph print, with teal leaves, bright yellow flowers, and pink lineart all overlaid on a white background. the dandelion is boxed by a neon pink square with text that reads "unkillable" in all caps underneath in the same pink colour

be like the dandelion!! unkillable! joyous!! inherently transsexual in ways others cannot fully understand!

on my redbubble!

I Should Have Known If I Brought Up Wc I’d Have To Talk About. But It Includes Of A Lot Of Issues With

I should have known if I brought up wc I’d have to talk about. But it includes of a lot of issues with feral/furry designs that use feathers in hair. I don’t necessarily know why the conversation only started and stayed in the wc fandom when horse/wolf/lion feral fandoms are still doing the same thing.

Now having feathers in the design isn’t a racial attack first thing off because there’s a lot of context around what feather’s are used, the shape, and where they are placed. If the look is anything like "rave Coachella looking tribal fantasy feathers and beads" it’s probably insensitive. I’m not to sure why it has to be feathers, I honestly think the wc fandom are holding themselves back when it comes to forwarding designs in a unique way. Tail feathers are also left out in this conversation as well, one or two feathers or feathers in the shape of a birds tail are fine but bunched together feathers are leaning to close to how we have our horses wear feathers. This is in the context of the design already looking like a "medicine cat" already its bad. it’s like those yt girls wear feather head bands but animal addition.

I Should Have Known If I Brought Up Wc I’d Have To Talk About. But It Includes Of A Lot Of Issues With

I’ve talked about this before but silhouettes are so important, like Native American stereotypes are on the global scale you cannot escape this silhouette you just have to avoid it. There’s no "but it’s in so many other cultures" no it’s not it’s totally unique to our people that’s why people flock to it because it’s so "mysterious, sacred" whatever their weird twisted up reason is. There’s so many unique ways to break this silhouette you just gotta be more creative. And I feel like instead of being more creative and coming up with totally different ideas it’s just easier to lean on these visual native stereotypes to get across "wild mythical nature fantasy"

I could get into the horse fandom and the weird situations they’re doing over there but that’s another crazy thing. I should say because someone will ask, ostrich feathers on like show horses or knights or puss in boots style is fine not the same thing (breaking the silhouette) they’re not related.

And it comes down to understanding what you are drawing and where this imagery comes from, I’m not gonna get my feelings hurt because of your design but I’ll question why are you drawing stuff like that. You cant remove that cultural/stereotypical imagery, and if you don’t care about it then you don’t care about the history or how it looks on your character and art.

I made it this far on the internet but if you want to be conscious about these things good on yea it doesn’t take much☺️👍

Edit: can’t believe I gotta say this but yes other cultures utilize feathers, if people are using feathers that are used in their culture then don’t harass them. That’s weird have some common sense. Ostrich feathers, peacock feathers it’s actually so interesting how native birds to an area affect the culture there.

A painting of an ethereal, long-limbed Princess Celestia who fills the entire sky. Mountains don't even reach her ankles. The sky is made of her hair, in waves of cerulean accented with purple and orange clouds. She has two pairs of wings, with the sun held between them.
A portrait of princess celestia as a goddess, with white glowing eyes, mane that turns into clouds, white fur with gold accents. Instead of ears, Celestia has long, elegant pointed wings resembling those of a tern.
Princess Luna as a divine alicorn, casting the entirety of ponyville under the shadow of her giant, umbrella-like wings. Her pose and wings look much like a black heron. Within the darkness cast by her wings, stars glimmer and twinkle
Goddess Luna as a portrait. Her curved horn and nose are tipped in silver, while her dark, night-sky fur is wreathed in blue sparkling smoke. She has wings on her head in place of ears, and they are low-set and folded gracefully. Her eyes are closed, with iridescent white eyelashes gently dropping glittering stars as tears.

Neither unicorn nor pegasus, Alicorns appear to have traits from both species, but are so much more beyond that.

The first alicorns are known as The Two Sisters, a pair of unicorns with magic so potent, they changed the face of the sky forever. After growing wings, the young alicorns were called princesses and treated like royalty, thanked for their gift of the sun and moon. But as time went on, it became clear that these were not simply horses with extra features, but something else entirely.

When mature, alicorns are massive deities that stretch across the sky, ferrying the sun and moon to all corners of the world, leaving magic and dreams in their wake.

Being larger than the tallest mountains, goddesses generally don't interact with ponies on an individual basis. When they do, it is a terrifying honor; one that will alter the course of your life forever. Listen to the Sun speaking into your mind, and pray you are still the same pony when she is done.

A bust drawing of Tempest Rising from My Little Pony: the Movie (2017) in a semi realistic style. She is a dark fuschia deer-like unicorn, with long raking scars covering one side of her face and obliterating her eye. Her other eye is fierce, malevolent teal beneath dark lashes so pointy they could take your eye out.
The scars run through the base of her horn, splitting the horn bud into pieces that each try to grow a tiny, twisted black horn that crackles with corrupted magic.
Fullbody view of Tempest with her armor on. Her body is scarred beneath the dark blue metal plates, and resembles real horse armor from medieval times.
Full body without armor, showing deep scarring all over one side of her body, especially where her eye used to be, and around one front leg

It's time to grow up and get wise Come now, Little one

Unicorn horns are a set of single tine, spiraling antlers that grow from two buds in the middle of the forehead. Every year until maturity, the horn is shed and a new one grows in its place, so even a broken horn will be renewed.

Unless

Unless the antler bud is damaged beyond repair. Unless there's nothing you can do except sew the wounds closed and pray your little foal makes it.

And when she does, you have to watch her try year after year to grow something that can harness the magic she knows she has in her. But every time it grows back, it's more twisted than the last. And her heart twists alongside it.

A semi-realistic drawing of a large, insecticide creature with long, spindly limbs and ripped blue wings. It is crouching and hissing defensibly, with a read tongue lashing at the air

The tip of its tail is round and flat, black like the rest of its body.

Changelings! Six legged insectoid beasts grown to the size of ponies, their target mimic species. Rather than evolving perfect physical mimicry, changeling imitation is a two-pronged process. In addition to a color-shifting carapace, magic distorts and twists the silhouette to match the mimicked subject. The spell is weaved with a rapid beating of the the wings, which creates a delicate network of invisible magic threads that tie the changeling's physical form to the projected mirage to make it move. After casting the spell, the changeling needs to recast it periodically, so if you doubt your friend's identity, listen for the buzzing of wings.

A sequence of images of a changeling "transformation" which is actually an illusion spell.
In this image, the tattered blue wings are lowered to cover the body
Flapping the wings in front of the body until they become a blur
a magic overlay in the shape of a horse begins to appear in the blurred wings
The changeling underneath the blur seems to deform to fit the horse-shaped overlay
now the wings are still once again, so it looks like a black horse with blue insectoid wings
another flap and the wings fold up into the illusion and disappear.
A black horse snarls angrily, and seems to be in a very similar position to the original bug-like creature.

It takes a lot of concentration to keep the illusion in place, and changelings are naturally much taller than ponies when standing at their full height. Inexperienced or agitated changelings may forget to crouch, which breaks the illusion in a terrifying way. Because the features of the mirage are bound to the underlying insect body, moving wrong will distort the perceived form before it reveals what lies beneath.

a similar image to the first one, except the changeling is no longer crouched, but standing up to its full height. its legs are very long, much longer than a horse's.
The same black horse as the previous illusion, but this one's legs and neck are stretched and distorted to horrifying proportions.

The reason changeling bodies are so much longer than their target species is to allow a changeling to mimic creatures many times their size, provided they have the wingspan to reach the entire length of the target individual. A full wingspan is the sign of a healthy changeling, one that has enough magic to cast their illusions without much effort. Without sufficient magic, a changeling must constantly refresh their spell, and the ceaseless beating tears their delicate wings to shreds.

A giant pink alicorn laughs and holds a white unicorn up with the magic of her horn.
Underneath the image of the giant alicorn is a spindly, laughing changeling queen. Her wings are not tattered; but instead stretch wide enough to fit the entire alicorn illusion within her wingspan. Instead of a sad little tail, hers is swollen full of green, liquid magic to the point it is bigger than the rest of her

There is one changeling with enough magic to spare: The Queen. Drones store magic in their tails and bring it back to feed her. The queen of years past has been bleeding them dry and soaking up all their magic, leaving what should be a healthy reservoir in their tails as a withered pocket. This new style of ruling could possibly have started as a response to the ascension of the Goddess of Love, and the resulting magicification of feelings of romantic and platonic love.

Queen chrysalis, leader of the changelings. She is scowling and sticking out her long magic-sucking tongue. Her wings and hair glitter with magic.

For millennia, changelings evolved to feed on emotions directed at them (or rather the being they mimic) and convert it into magic. Positive emotions were the most stable, but any emotion worked. But when Love started to feel an entire meal, and gave the drones strength to subsist on their own, their queen demanded every drop of intoxicating love for herself, leaving them in a constant state of starvation and desperation.

changeling color shifting. One one end is a pure black changeling, then he shifts some segments into a dark teal, while other segments such as his face are white. He casts the form-shifting illusion, and looks like a dark teal pony with white paint markings.

Just a little love can go a long way. Changelings are forbidden from changing their colors or illusions to express themselves, as they must be seen as "mindless drones" and part of a single hive mind, despite their potential for individuality. Instead, they remain black unless imitating a pony or other creature. Each section of a changeling's carapace has a clear top layer with liquid suspended above the actual armor layer beneath. Microscopic grooves display different colors and shades based on how much of the liquid fills them, and how much pressure it's under. With the base colors set, wings spin the illusion of form to completely disguise the changeling beneath.

Thorax, a healed changeling. His carapace is surging with iridescent greens and oranges, and his wings are glittering, vibrant blue without a single tear to be seen. He holds his head up high and stands confidently. His tail has is a healthy, round bulb with enough magic for him to thrive. No more, no less.

At his feet, a small, Ocellus the light blue changeling looks forward with uncertain hope. Her legs are stubby rather than thin. Her wings and tail bulb are pink.
Behind her is a newborn larval changeling, which has a dark face and stubby legs sticking out of white downy fluff.

But what if they didn't have to save all their energy for disguises? What if there was enough love to go around?

The Changeling Revolution is an ongoing battle, but it has a hopeful, vibrant spark. Led by a mild-mannered former "drone," a growing faction are discovering peace, safety, and individuality by feeding off love directed not at illusions they cast, but to the people they truly are. It's a scary, vulnerable first step to allow others to see your true nature, but the rewards of loving and being loved are worth it.

Revolutionaries are not "reformed" so much as healed by embracing individual love. It turns out when each changeling allows themself to have their own color, preferences, and name, then the love felt from one changeling to another can be converted into magic, and a hive can become a thriving ecosystem within itself.

close up of thorax's face
closeup of nymph and larva

Nymphs, once destined for a viscous cycle of deception and starvation, are now able to bask in love given to them by hivemates, and they grow up stronger and kinder than any generation before. Though they can only shift into pastel colors until their carapace fully hardens and darkens, they still express by choosing their own look, name, and destiny.

The healing of the changeling population is as varied as their prismatic colors, and as beautiful as their glittering wings.
