the gangs all together! finally finished the mxtx go for it set đâ¨
Hello, I know very little about the canon Batfamily because I can't exactly just read all of the comics (there's way too many, and they're very expensive T-T) so instead I spent like an hour reading the entire Fandom . com entry on Dick Grayson, and this is pretty much my timeline of important events that I got from that (I'm typing this in hopes that it'll help me remember it).
Dick Grayson Canon Lore Stuff:
â˘From a very young age Dick Grayson was trained as an acrobat, hence his job as a performer in his family's circus act.
â˘When he was eight years old, he overheard a well known crime boss threaten the circus performers if he wasn't paid by the circus owner. The owner didn't pay him, and that night Dick witnessed his parents high wire snap, leading to both of their deaths. (He felt responsible for not warning them)
â˘He was put into a juvenile service system, because social services in Gotham were full. In this system he was often beat up by the others, which led to him eventually being put into a Catholic orphanage instead.
â˘Bruce Wayne adopted him, but Dick didn't want to replace his deceased dad with a 'stuck up' billionaire, plus he felt like Bruce didn't give him enough attention (Probably because Bruce was still dealing with the trauma of his own parents death and didn't like getting attached to people in case he lost them as well), so he snuck out in hopes of solving his parents murder himself.
â˘He met Batman, also investigating the murder, which led to him finding out that Batman and Bruce Wayne are the same person.
â˘They find the crime boss, but he 'dies of a heart attack' before he can be arrested.
â˘Since Bruce saw so much of himself in Dick, he asked the boy if he wanted to become his sidekick and Dick decided to name himself 'Robin' after what his mother used to call him.
â˘He was trained for six long, hard months before he was allowed to do any real missions, and he had to go through one full night eluding Batman without help before he was allowed to officially become Robin.
â˘For the first year or so Dick had a lot of fun with his job, and treated it as a fun adventure he and Bruce participated in together.
â˘That was until he had a fight with Two-Face, in which Batman and the DA were both stuck in nooses. Dick cut the rope around the DA with a Batarang, but Two-Face had crafted a double trap and this made the floor fall out so the DA landed in a pit of water in which he drowned. This was Dick's first time witnessing an on-the-job death which would serve to haunt him for years to come, plus he got himself a beating from Two-Face (Okay but like, wouldn't he have been like 9 or 10 max Jeezums- đđ).
â˘Bruce temporarily 'fired' Dick, not wanting to see him get hurt any more.
â˘Dick served as Robin for a while longer, still working with Bruce and also forming his own Titans team.
â˘When Dick was 17 he got shot in his shoulder by the Joker, which prompted Bruce to officially fire him out of fear for his safety. Dick decided that he didn't need Batman anymore, plus he had some issues with the way Bruce did things, so he moved from Gotham to New York to be more involved with the Titans, and he dropped out of highschool.
â˘Bruce didn't really like this, and told Dick that if he was no longer going to work with him he would have to retire the Robin title. Dick left Wayne Manor afterwards, and handed over leadership of the Titans to Wondergirl.
â˘Unsure of himself and what he should do now, yet not wanting to give up crime fighting now that it was such a big part of his life, he went to find Superman. For a brief while Dick stayed with Superman, and Superman told him of a Krypton hero who had been known as Nightwing. Because of this time with Clark, Dick decided to finally become his own hero free of Batman. He named himself Nightwing after the Krypton hero, and made himself a costume based off of something his father once wore back in the circus.
â˘Now as Nightwing he helped lead the Titans, though his relationship with Starfire was worsening over time.
â˘Jason's death was a bit of a turning point in his character. Even though originally he hadn't seemed to like Jason (mainly because Jason acted as his replacement, and because of his not so great relationship with Bruce) Dick seemed to grow into a kinder/gentler person after the event.
â˘A while after this, Dick discovered that the mob boss who had killed his parents was not actually dead but was in a coma instead. Dick went looking for him, but witnessed him being gunned down before he had a chance to do anything for himself. Bruce claimed that he was worried that Dick would seek revenge for his parents death if he knew the truth, so he told the young boy that the mod boss was dead instead. Dick was obviously upset because of this, and his relationship with Bruce stayed strained.
â˘While he was still serving with the Titans, Tim Drake sought him out and asked him to return to being Robin (Because after Jason's death Bruce was going crazy without a Robin by his side), but Dick refused because of his bad relationship with Bruce and his enjoyment for his current job. He did help Tim become Robin, though.
â˘A lot of bad things happened with the Titans, people passed, people left, people changed, but Dick fought to stay the heart and center of the team through it all.
â˘Despite their strained relationship, Dick tried to impulsively marry Starfire, but the ceremony was interrupted, which eventually led to Starfire leaving and returning to her home planet.
â˘Bruce was brutally injured by Bane, but because his relationship with Dick was so bad and he didn't want to 'force' his son to return, he temporarily gave the Batman title to the not-so-stable Jean Paul Valley, with Tim there to help him out. Jean proved too unstable, however, and Dick returned to Gotham to help Tim deal with him. Dick decided to step away from the Titans to focus on Gotham, and the still healing Bruce asked him to be Batman until he was alright again which Dick agreed to.
â˘During his time acting as Batman, Dick built a great brotherly relationship with Tim. In addition, Bruce admitted that he hadn't originally asked Dick to act as Batman for him because he didn't want to force him to come back, and the two finally began to fix their relationship.
â˘Dick pretends to be a villain working under Deathstroke for a while, until Deathstroke betrays him and kills at least 100,000 people with a bomb. Dick tries to find and help any survivors, but is unable to because of the radiation which weighs heavily on his mind. He also proposes to Barbara Gordon around this time.
â˘Dick recovers and Bruce asks him to join him and his current Robin in rediscovering his roots. Dick is hesitant, but Barbara insists that he helps, and suspends their engagement for the time being.
â˘Dick returns to the Titan's tower, because there's someone there pretending to be him. Turns out it's the revived Jason Todd!
â˘While on a case, he gets buried alive by a mysterious voice that tells him he's 'supposed to be dead'. He has a hard time finding work because he's in a cast, and is having some trouble due to his injuries.
â˘By this point his relationship with both Bruce and Tim have improved dramatically, and he's close with both of them.
â˘The Titans decide to reform their group.
â˘Okay I'm gonna try and put this as simply as possible⌠Bruce was targeted by a group called 'Black Glove', supposedly going insane and running away. Dick doesn't want Tim to have to deal with everything himself, so he returns. He gets kidnapped and drugged by the International Club of Villains and is scheduled for a lobotomy, but gets out of it because Bruce's 'insanity' was made up to expose the Black Glove. Batman fights with Doctor Hurt on a helicopter, but the helicopter explodes. Batman is fine and works with the Justice League, but then is seemingly killed in his confrontation with Darkseid. In his will, Bruce begs Dick not to become Batman. Because of his refusal to become Batman, someone else takes up the job instead, calling himself Batman but using lethal methods that Bruce would never allow. This 'Batman' is actually Jason Todd, who shoots Damian and almost kills Tim with a Batarang. Dick and Jason fight and Dick shoves Jason off of a speeding train, seemingly killing him though Jason says they'll 'Meet again soon'. Dick finally decides to become the official Batman, but refuses to make Tim his Robin because according to him, he sees Tim as his equal and not his sidekick. He instead makes Damian his new Robin, which of course pisses off Tim. Tim, believing Bruce to be alive, takes up Jason's old Red Robin mantle and goes searching for Bruce. Dick moves base because the Batcave reminds him too much of Bruce, and struggles because Damian is constantly reminding and taunting him over the fact that he will never truly be able to replace his father. When he next fights Jason, Jason remarks that if the Lazarus pit could revive him, it could revive Bruce too as he's being arrested.
There's quite a bit of stuff that happens in between here, most notably the death of a young boy called Baby D which influences Dick's future character, but since I've been typing for hours:
Thinking about what Jason said, Dick takes Bruce's body from his grave and takes him to the Lazarus Pit. While it does reanimate the corpse, the revived 'Bruce' is angry and violent. This is because it was never Bruce at all, it was actually a clone of him. This gives Dick, Damian, and Alfred a similar hope to Tim, that Bruce is actually still alive. Tim brings evidence that Bruce is actually lost in time, and after a bit of digging and more evidence finding, they manage to bring Bruce back.
â˘Dick finally becomes Nightwing again, now with red on his costume which reflects his darker and more grim outlook on life and humanity after his time as Batman.
â˘Nightwing gets stabbed on a mission.
â˘He also, on a different mission, momentarily dies but they manage to start his heart again.
â˘Dick puts down his Nightwing title for a while and becomes a secret agent for Bruce, but the wiki has no info on this.
â˘Dick goes back to being Nightwing, finally returning to his original black and blue suit instead of the black and red one. He reforms the titans, but after working with them for a bit, but ends up moving back to BlĂźdhaven soon after.
â˘Someone is sent to assassinate Dick, and he gets shot in the head. He manages to survive, though he has amnesia and for a brief while becomes 'Ric Grayson' until he gets his memories back. When Ric tries to restore his memories he is kidnapped by the Joker who brainwashes him into believing that he was the Joker's sidekick, though he's eventually rescued and gets his memories back. After this event, he officially rejoins the Batman Family as Nightwing.
â˘There's no info after this.
Grrrrr I might do this for the other characters but idk because this took forever and I am tired lmao

Have you ever lost someone and then you just feel like you see that someone everywhere? Every place, every street, everyone, reminds you of the memories you hold dearly close to your heart no matter how hurt it is to remember for you refuse to ever forget about it. It hurts so much it does, but thatâs the price you have to pay.
The first time she saw him again after going back from the 60s with the dysfunctional bunch of siblings, she thought she was dreaming. Perhaps, itâll be easier if it were just a dream. Cause now she has to look at the faceâat the body of someone who once had loved her and found nothing. A stranger with the face of the love of her life.
Same name. Same face. Different memories.
But does it all even matter now? The world is ending in hours. She could meet her Ben again, that only if he really does exist. She has never been the one to fully understand the concept of time and Five doesnât speak in a language that she is capable of understanding.
She raised her glass of champagne in Lutherâs direction as he danced with his newfound love before averting her gaze to take a look around the room. Diego and Lila being in each other's arms. Klaus being Klaus. Five who seem to be enjoying his time with the number of empty glasses on his table. And lastly, him. Sitting on the table far back from everybody else, drinking quietly as his eyes, too, roamed around the room. Even from a distance between the two, she could tell that he was judging all of them silently.
Slowly she rose and walked toward him with her glass wrapped around her fingers. Once she arrived at the spot, she gestured to the seat next to him. âMay I?â Without hearing any response from him, she sat herself on the seat, putting her glass on the table. âThe party is over there yet you distance yourself from the others, emo boy.â
He rolled his eyes at the nickname she gave him. âIf anyone here is emo that would be your brother. All brooding, laying down alone in my room, wearing nothing but black.â He looked over at Viktor and she followed his line of gaze. âFirst, Viktor isnât emo, and second, you just prove my point here.â She gestured to his situation right now. âYou just described yourself.â
The look in his eyes was nothing like her Ben as he glared at her, glass tightly wrapped around his fingers. âLook, if youâre going here just to brag about your oh-so-perfect Ben. The others had took their chance every time they passed me so donât even bother.â He leaned forwards to herâtrying to somewhat looking intimidating as she looks at him, totally unfazed by it.
âNo.â She leaned closer to him as he leaned back, clicking her glass with his. âThat is a too sensitive topic for me to talk about. Actually, I was trying to give you some company.â
âWell, I donât need your company.â He talked back.
She leaned her back on the seat. âToo bad. Iâm already comfortable sitting here.â
âThen Iâll just go away from here.â He got up, looking at her irritatingly, clearly annoyed by her presence. Turning around he began to walked away from the girl that has been haunting his mind, but then she said something that made him stop. âYou know you donât want to, Ben. You wished to stay here. You want someone to tell you to stay. So here I am doing you a favor by saying this.â
Walking back towards her, he pointed his finger right in front of her face, a look of exasperation plastered on his face. âYou stay out of my head. Donât even try to use it on me.â He said. âYou think you know me. You know nothing about me. Nothing. I donât need your company and I most certainly donât need your pity. I donât need you.â
Her gaze softened at his words, his last words may hurt a part of her but it was nothing she hadnât heard before. âI donât need my powers to know what youâre thinking, Ben. Besides, it never works on you. Not on you. Not on any version of you, I suppose.â She looks back to her glass, avoiding his gaze before feeling him walking away from her.
***
Looking at Luther and Sloane, she offered them a large smile. âIâm happy for the both of you. Wish we could have more time to know each other, Sloane.â She said, eyes falling onto the girl that is wrapped around Lutherâs arms before looking back at the sky that is torn apart every second that passed. âWith the world ending, thereâs nothing anyone wants more than spending time with their loved ones. I know I would do the same.â She could feel Lutherâs eyes on her as she said that. âCherish the time you have left together, okay?â That were the last words she uttered before she went back inside the building, leaving the newlywed to have their moments alone.
What she didnât know was the fact that Ben was listening to her words as he finally succeed to get rid of Klausâs presence. He was about to grab another drink when he heard her saying that. Spending time with their loved ones. What is left of his family are only Sloane and Reginald. One who is currently with the man of her life. The other one probably conspiring something against someone. Sloane, his sister, what left of his bunch of adoptive siblings, sure thereâs a part of him that cares for her although he wonât admit it out loud. On the other side, Reginald doesnât deserve any love from anyone in the building. An ounce of him may wonât stop trying to prove himself to the guy but heâs sure that there is no love that he holds for the old man.
Before the girl who just entered the building could fully walk passed him, he grabbed her wrist, stopping her in her tracks. She looked at him expectedly, a look of nostalgia flashed for a second. Perhaps itâs the alcohol talking, but the words come out of his mouth without permission at all. âWant a drink?â
She let her hand out of his grasp, raising one of her eyebrows. âDid Klaus really manage to talk some sense into you? Or is it the alcohol talking?â She paused before answering the real question. âThe answerâs yes by the way. But not here. Letâs go somewhere else.â
***
âA windowsill?â
âA quite spacious one, yeah.â She put herself in a comfortable position before patting the space in front of her. âCome on. Thereâs still much room left here.â Rolling his eyes slightly, he sighed before sitting in front of her. Both of them facing each other, on the windowsill as the world out there is falling apart. Her gaze stayed on him as he sat there trying to search for a comfortable position. A nostalgic smile went onto her face. Happiness and sadness all become one as a glimpse of her Ben took over his position for some split second.
A memory from her past.
âOut of every place in this goddamn hotel, you-â He began to complain.
âHey, the world is falling apart. Be grateful for a few seconds.â She looked out the window. âBen wouldâve loved this.â She muttered loud enough for him to hear.
âI am Ben.â
âWell, not you. I mean Ben Ben.â
âThe other Ben?â
âNo. Youâre theâCan you just drink it already and try to not be an asshole?â She almost forced the alcohol down his throat if it werenât for him who already doing that as she spoke before. She looked at him before averting her attention to her glass, muttering under her breath. âMaybe this is a bad idea.â
âNot really. No.â His response caught her off guard as she wasnât expecting him to even hear her. She pursed her lips, before taking a sip from her glass. âSo you do need some company. Is this your attempt to not be alone at the end of the world? Was it because of the speech I gave earlier?â She put it down and then propped her chin on the top of her knee.
This time, he is the one that avoids her gaze, looking at the falling word around them from the window. âI thought you said it didnât work on me.â
âJust because my powers donât work on you. Doesnât mean Iâm an idiot who cannot connect the two dots together, emo boy.â She said.
He looks down for a few moments before looking back at her, an uncharacteristic look on his face. âGuess thatâguess that makes me a special emo boy or what?â This time he didnât complain about the nickname. Instead, he said the words that brings a smile to her face. She nodded slowly before leaning back to the window frame and with teary eyes she lets out a chuckle. âWhat?â He asked, raising one of his eyebrows.
âYouâre making it difficult for me to not cry. You see, youâre not supposed to say that. Not with that face.â She paused, taking a deep breath trying to not let the tears out just yet. âGosh, you donât just look like him or sound like him. Now, you talked like him. I suppose my prayers are granted in a way. I see you again now. Breathing and alive. Just notâjust not the you that I need. It hurts looking into your eyes when all I see is him and yet there is no trace of him in this falling world.â
âWhat was he like?â His gaze stayed on her, less tense than usual. âTruly. What was he like?â He asked once more.
âWhat did the others say?â She asked back.
Hesitantly, he answered her question. âHe wasâŚâŚkind. Selfless. A tiny dark cloud on a perfect sunny day. A know-it-all. A scold. Most of them-Most of them are bad qualities.â He furrowed his eyebrows together and seems to be frustrated not being able to decipher why the other Ben was so special compared to him. âIâm the Number One. Numero Uno. He wasnât, was he? All of those praises about him, look how he ended up 6 feet under.â
Brushing over his last comment, she nodded her head. âWell all of them are true. He was a great guy, wasnât he? One of the best that I ever knew.â Her eyes trailed over the window. âI first met them all when I was around the age of 8 or 9. He was hiding behind Klaus or Number 4 at that moment. He was never been the one to love the public attention but somehow tried to gain mine. I suppose that makes him sweet. After his death, none of us have been the same. All of us were drowning in a sense, well we all have been drowning for a long time. But since that happened, none of us could ever reach the shore.â Her chest got heavy just from thinking of that feeling.
âWhere are you now?â He inched closer towards her.
She pursed her lips before letting out a deep breath. âJust floating around, I guess? Not drowning but not completely free either.â She thought about her last interaction with Ben. âPerhaps this is it. With the world ending, Iâm getting closer to my final destination.â
Looking back at him, she continued her words. âBen. He was-He was easier to love out of everyone in that room earlier, out of all the people Iâve known in my whole life. And mind you remember this, I love all of them greatlyâwell not all of them,â She referred to Reginald. âWe all have a fair share of memories together, mostly in our youthful days that are full of trauma created by your daddy dearestâeven I had some of mine too and Iâm not even a Hargreeves.â Both of them chuckled at her words.
âVery much relatable that last bit. Klaus said a similar thing earlier. About how he was easier to love.â Ben inched closer once more, perhaps this is the alcohol talking, but seeing him open up his feelings to her like this makes her pay no mind to the fact that by tomorrow heâll probably change into hard-shell Ben again. âThat doesnât seem fair. All of you love him like that yet none can do the same for me.â
Biting back a snarky remark, she decided to say something else instead. âOne thing about him is that he makes love seem to be a casual thing to feel, I mean it is, truthfully it is but not many people have the opportunity to realize that.â She wiped a single tear away. âThere are a lot of things to pay for when it comes to love. To any kind of love. Meeting you is one of those. The price I have to pay for this moment is not a kind one.â
He nodded quietly before looking back directly into her eyes. âIâm not him, you know?â
She chuckled at his words. âOf course, youâre not. Iâve said that already. If yes then I wonât be just sitting in front of you right now.â I would hold you and never let go like you had wished once before your last moments. The last part remained in her mind. Glimpses of them together flowed around the two, yet she was the only one to remember. âIt is a lonely thing, isnât it? To remember when the other person doesnât.â
âWhat ifâŚâŚthe other person does?â Her head snapped back towards him as he said so. Letting out a shuddered breath, she opened her mouth to ask what he means by that but she wasnât able to find her voice at all. Then he continued his words. âYou know what sucks, you have all of these memories with your Ben and I-â He took a glance at the sky before looking back at her. âAnd the only recollection I have about you is the one I had in my dreams. The one that I forgot the moment that I woke up. The one I wished to remember because thereâs this feeling that I canât understand every time I am in that dream.â
âYou said all you see when you look into my eyes are him. Yet when I see into yours all I see is you. No other version you. Just you you cause youâre the same one from my dreams. The dreams that left only glimpses in my memory. But then even in those dreams, you were with him, I suppose. That happy feeling was his feelings, it was never mine, to begin with. All this time I was dreaming of someone elseâs memories.â Tears stream down her face as she takes in the look in his eyes, the same look he used to give her.
This Ben would never be her Ben. He was already gone from her world. Leaving nothing but the memories that remain in her heart. Nothing but the feeling that she would always feel till the moment she passed. Meeting this Ben had brought heavy feelings to her heart. Makes her yearn to see a glimpse of him in his eyes. And when she found what she was looking for, hurt was all she found. âIâm sorry, Ben.â
He smiled bitterly. âOut of everyone, I thought you hated me the most.â He said. Recalling her avoiding him at all cost during their first interactions when the Umbrella first comes back to the timeline. The look in her eyes when she first laid her gaze on him was one that he will not forget.
She looked at him with sadness in her eyes. âThat is an ability that I am not capable of. I cannot afford that. I donât think I could even if I tried. Youâre too much like him. Any version of you they all-well, Iâve only met two of you but youâre much more alike than I thought you do. Your feelings. The way both of you feel, I found it beautiful.â
A comfortable silence engulfed both of them as the two leaned back to the window frame simultaneously. The world is still falling around them. Slowly fading away from reality. Most people are already gone, reuniting with their loved ones on the other side.
âYou were right.â His voice makes her look back at him. He offered the palm of his hand to her, so she made up a scissor using her point and middle finger. âI won.â She said with a large smile on her face.
Ben rolled his eyes. âYouâre so childish. I couldnât see why he loved you so much.â He said, clearly lying.
She crossed her arms. âOh, the alcohol finally worn out? I was enjoying the non-asshole you.â
âOh shut up.â He hushed her.
âWhat was I right about?â She waited for his response.
He met her eyes once more. She could tell that he was hesitant about it. âWith the world ending, thereâs nothing anyone wants more than spending time with their loved ones. Any kind of love.â Her eyes stayed locked with him as she reached for his palm once more, a warm smile on her face.
âAny kind of love.â She replied back.

I will say that I think it's genuinely hilarious that often in propping up another robin there's this concept that gets floated that Dick had it comparatively easy which is wild for multiple reasons but the primary issue for me is that, at base, ignoring everything that happened to him and the things that he had to deal with, a 4th grader went so hard and was so dedicated to bringing justice and hope to the world that to this day if u have an 'R' on your chest in the DCU it's an instant stamp of quality. Like yes they all brought something interesting to Robin but only one of them had to build the house and he did it from a booster seat
i think itâs important to remember with shen yuan that while he is ultimately a loving person (he cares⌠so muchâŚ), he is also a terminally online otaku that gets into flame wars and harasses people online, and on top of that even by the end of the novel he is still dealing with multiple layers of repression disavowal and performativity that make it so the stars have to align just right for him to be openly kind. iâm not saying he is mean but actually yeah he kinda is a bit of a bitch and that aspect of his character should not be forgotten. like he is kind but not nice yk
Please i need people to understand that the tragedy of robins is that their parents did love them.
Dickâs parents love him they didnât want to leave him. Jasonâs parents loved him, they didnât want to be trapped in poverty and crime. Stephâs mother loved her, she didnât think Steph would get caught up in her husbandâs schemes. Timâs parents loved him, they never meant for him to be as alone as he was. Cassâs father loved her, he wanted her to be as strong as she could be. Damianâs mother loved him, she was raising him in impossible circumstances. Dukeâs parents loved him, they never planned to get caught up in the attack.
And yes, these situations are different. Duke and Dickâs parents were good people, Steph mom and Jasonâs dad are sometimes depicted as abusive but at other times shown to be struggling with their circumstances. Timâs parents and Damianâs mom were good people who should never have been parents. Cassâs dad was a bad person who shouldnât have been a parent. With Cass, there ended up being abuse, and with Damian too because one way or another Talia or the leagueâs training and general way of life wouldâve harmed Damian, and some depictions of Timâs parents imply severe neglect. But deep beneath that, despite the circumstances and even the failure of the people themselves, they did love their children, and were trying in their own way.
Just like Bruce loves his children, and why Iâm sort of against the terrible father depiction. Because I think heâs traumatized and his knowledge of parenting would give him a poor subconscious fathering ability, but CONSCIOUSLY he loves his children, and he would try. Thatâs the difference. All the robins were loved, but they all lost their parents anyway. And they all will be loved again, because even is he fails, Bruce loves them too, and he is trying to do right by them. Heâs trying to make sure none of their stories are tragedies.
Vince: Ok, kids, Weâll be working around the Safe Haven today, so split into groups of two

Based on a true story
ben hargreeves going from a silly side character whoâs presence was completely dependent on another character to the key that makes up the final season of the show is truly the perfect representation of the power of fan service. like yeah. take the funny ghost that everyone loves and make sure that heâs at the center of the entire plot. why wouldnât you give the people what they want?
It really is unfortunate that shen yuan being an unreliable narrator often makes people misunderstand his character. "Shen Yuan was lazy and stole shen jiu's cultivation." In truth, Shen jiu's cultivation was extremely unstable and he was far behind all the other peak lords.
It was shen yuan who entered the caves right after unlocking the ooc function and cultivated in seclusion for several months.
