Corrin Corrin Corrin
Doris is like,,,,,, if Anankos had a slightly more sane yet warmly sinister sister that instead ruled over a bunch of dead fish people and pirates and organized crime people/soldiers that died at sea. But she isnât related to it, just so happens to be another dragon with hold over water and the dead. His is more general while sheâs more sea related. She knew of him before he went mad, but even then they didnât get along very well as Doris loves to tease and verbally jab at peopleâs weak spots. Sometimes she thinks she helped tip him over to madness but then she just tosses the thought over her should like tossing away trash and goes about her day lol
She can control water in just about any form, including the water content in bodily fluids. She just needs an open wound (or urinating to make fun of people while theyâre actively pissing, she has scared someone so bad they peed and she decided to make it worse by snapping her fingers and it got on the person instead of the floor) and her targets are kinda just done for.
She hides her face behind the hat and veil as to not immediately frighten visitors, guests, or any outsider that may mean no harm. Sheâs scary enough as is by being tall and having long nails. People usually get off put by the scales and ears, and tend to get scared when she speaks bc of her sharp teeth like that of a shark. When itâs her month with Leo and outsiders arrive, she also has him wear a veil sewn to a headband as she doesnât have him take a spell potion to hide his more draconic features. He doesnât have sharp teeth, but he does have gills along his ribs like his mother, as well as the pointed ears with fins from the lobes and slit pupils. Itâs more of a safety measure than anything.
Doris agreed to have a baby with Garon on two conditions; play one of her five games of chance and fate, as well as having half-half custody. The reward for the game was that the winner could have their child permanently and the loser would die (in Garonâs case) or lose any power they had (in Dorisâs case). Garon ended up choosing one of the three card games.
Iâm not sure exactly on the full details of the game yet, im still sorting that out, but essentially with all of her available games a drop of blood from all parties - including herself - gets dripped into a magic circle which then activates the game. For this one in particular, a deck of 70 cards is give to each player, and theyâre allowed to choose from one of the top three cards. Once one is chosen, the other two burn away. That card will inflict some sort of damage, give a healing affect, give or take away luck, or something more or less. If the game has a set time limit, ie 4 months or until the deck runs out, no new cards can be added to the deck. If there is an unknown time limit, like say until the end of a war, then the decks will be riddled with multiple cards that will allow the participant to gain access to burned cards or steal from another player. Cards can only be chosen once a day. The longevity of their game is of the latter scenario.
Throughout Leoâs childhood, one month he was going through political hell and assassination attempts since his mother doesnât live in the capital (as Garon decided to let her live in her city), while back with Doris she forced into what was essentially a pool filled with a poison that worked more like the dragon version of Tylenol PM and went into 2-3 day comas before she allowed him to roam the city. She used to use Brynhildr, but it had been sitting all dusty and kind of molded over in a worn down warehouse up more on the cliff side so she allowed him to use it. Considering she knew he was good with reading and spell work she kind of just,,,,, never told him how to use it, hence why he can only really use like two spells from the book that heâs still learning to bend to its fullest potential. It was more of an old collection item a past suitor gave her, a hero from another nation who wanted her heart but she thought he was more amusing as a pet lmao
She did kind of fuck up at parenting tho too a lot, as she did still jab at his insecurities and made fun of him for it. She thought she was being funny and loved seeing her baby boy contort into an embarrassed and crying mess to then comfort him. Every time her term was up with him sheâd try to convince him to stay with her to get around the game that she was becoming so very bored of as itâs taking way too long. Otherwise tho sheâd sit and dress him up or do his hair and take him out for swims and do magic lessons.
When Garon holds onto Leo for a little too long though, she does manage to teleport her way there and screech at the decrepit king before taking her son with her. She never acknowledges Xander or Camilla, and during when the concubines were still at war with one another never paid any attention to them either, but when she saw Elise she did bend down and boop her nose before going back in her merry way. Xander is a little afraid of her, sheâs the only person alive who can scream and throw shit at the king and make it out alive. Niles and Odin like to think that if it wasnât for the game, she would have 100% just sliced Garonâs cheek and drained the blood from his body.
During the second month of Corrinâs escapades (for rev) to gather everyone, Xander sends out a letter saying heâs going to meet Corrin. Doesnât make it in time. Leoâs already on the road back and she reads it and panics. She teleports over to the castle and absolutely WRECKS part of it in search for her son who hasnât even made it back yet bc she doesnât teleport him or his retainers back to the castle but she does do it to bring them to her city.
Iâve been really on a hit with fictional mums and also adding things to character idk if youâd call it an au in an au but ANYWAY
Change it up a bit, Leo and Camillaâs mums are still alive but for different reasons.
Camillaâs mum: Annabelle
⢠was deemed ânot stableâ so she was just,,,,, sent to an estate Garon had
⢠reason she was deemed not stable was because her mental health was starting to REALLY deteriorate after she killed her first stray child in the castle, then forcing Camilla to join her little death charade and Garon found out she wanted to throw Camilla down a cliff for disobeying her and sent her away with healers and servants to watch her
⢠originally a noble woman from a lesser known countryside town somewhere between the capital and the bottomless canyon
⢠was known as the âGem Witchâ for her magic prowess but also in doing great research in the magical properties of stones and gems, also her family in general was nicknamed the âhermit magesâ because they were rarely ever seen outside, and if they were they were casted in shadows or in a carriage
⢠Garon sought her out as a potential new wife for her knowledge and power and thought it would reflect his kingdom but because of her introverted nature she was turned to a concubine instead
⢠Camilla rarely goes to see her mother, and she rarely calls for her daughter if ever, and it always has to be supervised visits, often doesnât tell anyone especially her father who forgets Annabelle even exists
⢠a secret that stays with Camilla, her mum, and a select few others: her family sure as hell ainât human lmao Iâm not exactly sure what yet, I wanna lean toward a twist on vampires tho. Not exactly blood sucking, but still a revenant of the night thatâs far more sentient than other undead
⢠people outside have a rumor spreading that bc they never hear a death in that family theyâre slowly wanting to step down and go out of sight from the government, but the fact is that most of them have been alive for around a couple hundred years and they just donât want others to find that out
⢠Annabelle has been slowly deteriorating as her daughter grew older, sheâs no longer able to walk and her arm strength is minimal
⢠she also has started to either only mumble or speak in tongues/riddles, Camilla can barely make anything out, but she did catch the names of deities and dragons a few times, Anankos being one (which the hag only knows because she can see and hear his soldiers, but no one can understand her and brushes it off as old age nonsense. She just wants that dragon and his masses to stfu so she can sleep peacefully at night again lmao)
⢠she once was very tall and plump, but not so much anymore, sheâs very skeletal now, wears a lot of lace, plush fabrics, and gems to hide it
⢠has a pet snake
⢠no longer takes a potion/casts spells to hide her non-human side (has slightly longer and pointed ears, two sharper canines, brittle wings, claws rather than nail beds, fur poking through her purple hair)
Leoâs mum: Doris
⢠has forced dual custody over him, both parents get one full month at a time, she allows him to be apart of the army but when he comes over to her place he is not allowed to take part in any military duties
⢠only reason sheâs still alive is because the magic card game of fate she plays with Garon (aka an Anankos Shell or Sperm Donor as she calls it, yes she knows about Anankos, knew he was there surrounding the foreign king before the transition from the dusk dragon to Anankos was made) which will determine if Garon dies or if Doris loses almost all her magic power at the end of the war, which will further decide who gets to keep Leo and if he has to denounce his princely status
⢠Garon also went at her with the tactic of giving the kingdom a new queen, Doris saw through it and decided âmess around, find out, get bitâ
⢠sheâs from a small city state in between Southern Hoshido, Nohr, and Nestra. She is often called the âSea Witchâ, as majority of the city state is made up of dead people in varying states of decay and normality, tho that but is rarely known to those outside
⢠she is also not human, she is a sea dragon, one that was once worshipped but forgotten by all except old sailors and those who died at sea (hence how she knows about Anankos, son of a bitch keeps using waterways near her sea to summon his dead soldiers and trying to take HER dead folks that she rightfully earned and laid to rest thank you very much)
⢠she hides her whole head behind a hat that has a layered black veil sewn under the brim, the hat is kept on her head with a jeweled, long and sharp hair pin
⢠she can make it available to talk about the Vallite curse but only for a short bit, and those talking about it has to be standing in a few inches of red water she summoned, Leo canât talk about anything he knows of her until the war is over
⢠Tol, like wickedly so, she TOWERS over Xander
⢠has sharp teeth and some scales underneath her eyes and on her forehead, ears are pointed with small fins at the bottom lobes, red eyes and pointed pupils with silver hair and some black streaks. In the dark , the gills on her ribs as well as the oval spots along her sides and legs light up in a deep blue
⢠her nails are also like claws but appear more humanish, tho they are thick and not easy to break and can elongate and retract into her fingers like blades
As a fun lil tidbit:
⢠bc theyâre only half human, itâs easier to hide with simpler potions that Camilla and Leo knew how to make (they tried to include Corrin but she liked how she looked and bc she was locked up anyway itâs not like the public would see her so they just left it at that)
Anyway yea thatâs all I have atm, Iâll prolly be building more on this. Maybe eventually write smth. Idk lol
heard someone say archive of our own should install a "dislike" button and I thought I should say this: no, there's absolutely no need for archive of our own to install a "dislike" button.
why? because archive of our own isn't tiktok or youtube or twitter/x where users can monetize their content. archive of our own is a nonprofit site run by fans for fans, which means every content â every fanfic â you see on archive of our own was made out of pure love and passion from the artists/authors.
ao3 authors write because writing about these characters is their happiness and passion. they write for themselves, but they were generous enough to share with you their creations.
they're not "content creators" the way tiktokers or youtubers or instagram models are. they don't "make content" for views and engagements that can be monetized.
so no, you don't get to "grade their works" unless they specifically and directly ask you to.
you don't get to "say what you dislike about their works" unless they specifically and directly ask you to.
you don't get to "dislike" works that are not made specifically to please you in the first place. you're just a guest in someone's house, a house in which they let you in because they were kind, you don't get to roam around their house and say what you dislike about their furniture. you don't get to roam around their house and say you "dislike their house".
of course, you can have your opinion about the house its host invites you in. but if it's a negative one and you find yourself not liking the house, the polite things for you to do is excuse yourself and leave without telling them you dislike their house.
and just because you personally dislike the house doesn't mean the house is "ugly" either. the house you dislike could be a favorite, most luxurious place to many others.
my point is, don't be entitled by wanting the rights to voice your disapproval of things that you get to enjoy for free. don't be entitled by wanting the rights to voice your disapproval of things that were made out of love and passion â things the artists made for themselves for fun.
it makes you look like an entitled jerk with main character syndrome. the universe does not revolve around you.
now repeat after me: don't like don't read. no one forces you to continue reading a fic you don't like. quietly leave instead of being rude to authors who write for free because writing is their source of comfort.
people are so used to contents that were made because it's a trend / contents like tiktok that were made with the main purpose of reaching high engagement and making profits that they forget sometimes things can be made out of love and be made just for fun. sometimes things are supposed to just be for people to enjoy, and if some people don't enjoy them, then they can simply leave without being unnecessary unkind.
