the “tumblr community invents a whole mafia movie apparently directed by martin scorsese with an official soundtrack, movie posters, screen caps, and all enough to make one question if that movie really did exist at all like a mandela effect” was not part of my 2022 bingo card
Baz is so used to hide himself, so it really stood out to me (among many other things) that in SFC, when Simon sits besides him, Baz grabs his leg tightly. Even if there’s some “restraint” (nobody else would be able to tell he’s doing that under the table) there’s something intense about that gesture. There’s something being unleashed – the old Baz would not allow himself to “break” and reach out to Simon, to touch him when “he should be allowed to”… Just like Baz is Simon’s rock, we see Simon has become Baz’s too – when emotional or upset, Baz leans on Simon and holds on to him.
(As he becomes more comfortable in their relationship, as he begins to trust Simon more and more – that Simon wants him, that he wants to stay – it becomes harder to not open up to Simon, to not give in to his desires, even if it’s just a little. In CO, he’s so guarded that he wouldn’t be the type to throw himself into a Simon’s arms – Simon throws himself at him and has to essentially convince him and fight against Baz defenses to get Baz to open up and give him a chance. But after SFC? I can see Baz throwing himself into Simon’s arms to hug him, perhaps even knocking him into the floor, maybe not when he’s upset – he’s too used to bottle up – but maybe because he missed him, etc)
