Almost there!

Uhh it's really hard for me to make progress with this, because there are quite a few things in my life that are trying to drag me down mentally. This comic thingy is constantly on my mind, and I am making progress with it... just unfortunately, incredibly slowly. It doesn't help either that I can't seem to draw two pages with the same level of quality, and I'm constantly dissatisfield with the result...

My friend wrote a series of drabbles about Tsuru and her grandmotherly feelings for Doffy :D

Only his haki and his devil fruit powers had allowed him to survive his flight from Mary Geoise. The blood drops along his strings, the way the guards fell to his waves of haki– he'd always remember those things. And every use of his powers sharpened them. He'd hidden on one of the huge tribute ships leaving the sacred land, and fled that ship too as soon as it had made landfall..

Running through the alleyways of the unfamiliar island he found himself on, Doflamingo knocked out some men, and stole the coin in their pockets. He spent it on a nervous meal, and passage on a merchant ship back to the North Blue.

There was nowhere else for him to go.

Doflamingo had stayed with Trebol, Diamante, Pica and Corazon for three days while they looked for his brother. Searching and waiting and hoping for his return. Even sick with worry for Rosi, those three days had been the happiest he remembered since being pulled from Mary Geoise. It wasn't only the good food, and the comfortable bed, and care for his wounds, though all of those would still have been enough to make it so.

It was the way they treated him; enjoyed his company, praised him, seemed to actually like having him around. After so long being told that everything he did was wrong– when he stole food for Rosi it was 'wrong to steal', when he tried to defend them it was 'wrong to hurt others'-- it was a sharp relief to feel understood. To feel accepted.

Bold, flamboyant Diamante talked to him like an adult and had shown him a better way to hold a knife. Friendly, forthright Corazon had shared his cigarettes– though Doffy quickly learned he didn't like the way too much made his head spin– and talked with him all the time. Quiet, determined Pica never stopped looking for Doffy's brother. And soft, crafty Trebol lavished him with attention and praise, listening to all his thoughts and troubles and giving his advice while brushing his hair, taking care of his wounds, even bathing him.

If Doffy could never go home– if he had lost everything, miserable, and cast out— he wanted to go back to that. He wanted to go back to them, where he was loved and accepted and treated like a person, instead of like a demon or a naughty child.

It was all he wanted, and the thought that he could have it— the hope that they would still be there when he arrived— was the first thing that sustained him from despair on his lonely voyage.

The second thing was his burning, ceaseless rage.

One Piece AU where Doffy and Rosi both Live, and not only that—they get to interact peacefully without worrying about the law or being on different sides:

In this fic, Doffy's not quite as bad—he is still a notorious pirate who is powerful and cruel, but it isn't to the point that the Marines go so far as to send Rosinante undercover to take him down from the inside, no.

In this fic, the DonQuixote brothers don't get to interact until Doflamingo is offered the Warlord position—strangely, or not so strangely—a lot sooner than he was in canon...

Could Rosi have something to do with this?

He absolutely did; He begged and pleaded and bartered with Sengoku so much...

They first meet when Doflamingo is brought in to officially accept his position as Warlord, and Rosinante nearly gets himself sautéed when he throws himself at Doffy if it were not for the fact that, one: slicing up a Marine Commander within moments of arriving would not do well for Doflamingo's goal of becoming a Warlord and gaining immunity, and two: moments before the Marine made contact, Doflamingo swore he heard his baby brother calling out his name—the voice was different, very obviously different, far deeper than little Rosi's ever was, and yet...

There was just something about it that rang true and familiar—in his chest, in his heart, in his soul—somehow he knew, could feel it in his bones, in every fiber of his being, that that was his little brother's voice, all grown up.

Doflamingo showed up alone, and thank god he did, thank god the only people around for this first meeting are Sengoku, Rosinante's adoptive father, and Tsuru, who was the one to escort Doflamingo in.

Thank god, because otherwise Doffy may have acted differently, put up a colder or more arrogant, more cruel front—but with just his baby brother and two soft-bellied Marines...

Doffy hugged back.

In this AU, Doffy and Rosi would be able to meet up whenever they want as technically-allies and neither of them would hesitate to abuse this.

Compilation of Mysterious Papyrus Things

Random Strange Facts:

Papyrus is the only character to speak without an asterisk

Papyrus’s dialogue shakes on a consistent basis when no one else’s does

Papyrus is described as “forgettable,” something only mentioned elsewhere in context with Goner Kid and Gaster

Papyrus seems to be able to see what the player is looking at when he calls them (”THAT BAG OF DOG FOOD LOOKS FAMILIAR…”)

Papyrus seems to know that MTT has eyes before MTT becomes MTT Ex

Papyrus has a total of 2184 lines in the game—more than any other character, and almost as much as the narrator of the game, which is at 2418 lines. The next closest character is Undyne, with 1268 total lines.

Similar wording is used to describe Papyrus as it is to describe Gaster. (It’s rude to talk about someone who’s listening)

Papyrus’s theme, “Nyeh heh heh/Bonetrousle,” is used in all of the trailers of the game

Papyrus and Sans break the 4th wall in the stream greenlight trailer, which shocks Toriel

Papyrus flies/breaks the laws of physics casually and seemingly on a regular basis

There is nothing, nothing known about his past before his showing up to Snowdin. By the end of the game and after some research, you can basically know more about Gaster and Sans than you do about Papyrus, despite him having the most dialogue in the game besides the narrator.

Papyrus has such control over his magic in his fight, that he can make his attacks do zero damage because he refuses to kill the human.

You are healed to full HP right before the Papyrus fight, as well as immediately after if you are captured.

Papyrus doesn’t seem to realize that Frisk is a kid, despite Frisk wearing a striped shirt, which is a common indicator for childhood in monster society. (is he unfamiliar with common monster culture, for some reason?)

Sans reads Papyrus bed time stories on a regular basis, but Papyrus himself never seems to sleep

The Undertale Q&A that Toby Fox did for Undertale’s anniversary revolves around Papyrus

His defense raises in the spare phase of his fight, unlike every other monster. He seems to be able to manipulate his own stats.

Relationships:

The two 4th wall breaking characters (Flowey and the Annoying Dog) seem to have a special interest in Papyrus

Annoying Dog:

Steals bone attacks on two separate occasions (Papyrus fight and aborted Genocide hangout, in which the “special attack” is hinted to be Gaster Blasters)

Steals bones in general on two occasions (Under Papyrus’s sink and during the hangout with Undyne)

Eats Papyrus’s lasagna

Snuggles with Papyrus

Flowey:

Says Papyrus started a “Flowey Fan Club”

Says Papyrus took a long time to get boring on his repeated runs

Asks Papyrus to call Frisk before the True lab, gather everyone together before the True Ending, and probably leave a note in Alphys’ trash can

Flowey is the only one who knows Papyrus’s favorite food, which is dinosaur oatmeal (no, it’s not spaghetti. Papyrus has never eaten it.)

When Flowey attacks the group during the True Pacifist fight, he binds everyone with two vines, except Papyrus–who he binds with four.

Sans (overlooking the bounteous brotherly goodness of the two):

According to Sans, he is trash-talked a lot

May have self-worth issues

Extremely blasé about his own death

Doesn’t seem to have friends, despite working very hard to get them

He phrases things in really strange ways. (”UNMANDATE IT SAFER”)

Papyrus staunchly refuses to really hurt people, despite it being very likely that he could be just as hard or harder of a fight than Sans

He has a strong and unshakeable belief that people can change (does he know this from personal experience?)

He hates Grillby’s and Hotland

He is an amazing artist

He considers himself a great chef, even if he doesn’t necessarily eat what he cooks

Handplates is still very good, a classic! It's finished!

Unexpected Guest is also super great! Great characterization <33 big inspo! Still going!

I also recommend checking some of the stuff by linssins, I love their work...so, Play Back Tale! So many people know the AU but haven't read the comic?? So! Check it out if you haven't!

That comic is the one that made me discover the Papyrus is Gaster theory <3! CHANGED THE COURSE OF MY LIFE NOW I'M CRAZY ABOUT PAPYRUS IS GASTER

Another linssins comic! I Know That I Know Nothing! PLEASE CHECK THIS ONE OUT, IT'S NOT FINISHED AND I DON'T KNOW IF IT EVER WILL BE FINISHED BUT

And it was sooo good, I was SO heartbroken seeing that it was never finished,, so after months of going crazy I made my own Papyrus is Gaster AU hehe

For anyone interested in different takes of Papyrus was Gaster, there's also this comic: Ask The Science Squad, it's also not finished, but it IS Papyrus was Gaster!! A VERY different take from mine, and that's super fun!

I LOOOVE Skelechara! Such a cute comic, and it's Chara and Papyrus focused! My favorite characters!!! Idk if it was finished?

I also really like Swapout! Underswap and Undertale crossover comic! I really like that concept!

I love Growth Spurt! Great characterization! I love how this comic handles Asriel, I don't like it when AU's/comics make him little small innocent Asriel again... idk it feels like it erases flowey... In this comic Asriel deals with some of that stuff and retains some of that Flowey attitude lol but he's getting better!!
