Invincible!Mark x reader

He always walks on the side of the sidewalk closest to the street. Doesn’t matter if he’s literally Invincible—he still does it, every time, without fail. If you switch sides? He casually switches too, like it’s instinct.

He sends you good morning and good night texts every single day. Even if he’s halfway across the galaxy, fighting some crazy alien war, you still get a little “Sleep well, baby. I love you ” message whenever he can.

He plays with your fingers absentmindedly. If you’re sitting together, he’ll take your hand and just... fiddle with it. Rubs his thumb over your knuckles, laces and unlaces your fingers, presses little kisses to your palm when he thinks you’re not paying attention.

If he gets home late, he tries so hard not to wake you. He’ll float instead of walking so the floor doesn’t creak, change in the dark, and press the softest kiss to your forehead before climbing in bed. If you stir, he just whispers, “Go back to sleep, sweetheart. I’m here.”

He loves when you wear his clothes. Hoodies, t-shirts, even his stupid superhero suit jacket. The first time he saw you in one of his hoodies, he almost short-circuited. Now he “accidentally” leaves them at your place all the time.

He gets protective in the smallest, cutest ways. Hand on your lower back in crowded places. Glaring at the barista who dares to flirt with you. Holding your waist just a little tighter when he hugs you after a long day.

He remembers every little thing about you. Your favorite flavor of ice cream, the way you like your eggs, that one childhood stuffed animal you still sleep with. He never forgets.

He holds you like he’s afraid to let go. Even after years together, he still hugs you like you might disappear. Arms tight, face buried in your neck, like he’s grounding himself in you.

If you fall asleep on him, he refuses to move. Doesn’t matter if his arm goes numb, if his legs are cramping—he’ll sit there, perfectly still, watching you sleep with this soft, soft look in his eyes.

He tells you he loves you all the time. In texts, in whispers, in casual conversation. “Hey, can you pass me the remote? Love you.” “Be right back, love you.” Like it’s the most natural thing in the world.

Sometimes, he just stops and stares at you. Like he can’t believe you’re real. Like he’s so in love with you, it physically stuns him for a second. And when you catch him? He just grins, shrugs, and says, “Can you blame me?”

first post on here, yay! I'm an avid twitch stream watcher if this doesn’t make it obvious

you’re a variety streamer, with a focus on gaming. you have a relatively large and loyal following - averaging around 3k viewers per stream

mark found you one day when he was bored out of his mind, scrolling mindlessly through his phone. he had seen a few clips of your’s when he was on tiktok and decided to finally check out one of your streams.

the first stream he watches is when you’re playing a horror game, outlast

you’re cursing up an absolute storm when he joins and he can’t help but just laugh in shock at your colorful vocabulary–having never even heard half of the words you said

he’s absolutely hooked from there. in the beginning, he’s only a casual watcher, catching streams when he’s not busy with school, work at burger mart, or hanging out with william. honestly, he only watches you when he’s bored, more of a last resort to cure that boredness. it grows from there. 

he learns more about the site that you stream on and more about you. he was never one to keep chat open, finding it distracting since he was here to watch you, but the more he watched, the more he realized just how much you interacted with the chat. so, he leaves it open now, reading alongside you when you read a certain message out loud, or even reading them on his own and snorting in amusement at what some of your chatters say. 

the first time he sends a chat is when he’s ridiculously early to one of your streams. it’s only your mods in chat and the notification for your stream hasn’t even gone out yet. the message he sent is a simple one; ‘hi streamer, hi mods’. your mods respond to it first, being the most attentive mods. then suddenly, he hears your voice, the one that he’s gotten so used to hearing in his downtime. 

“Hi ‘grayson_05’! How’s your day so far?” 

your response is short and sweet, more of a pleasantry than anything, but he can’t help the way his heart stutters at the fact that you read his chat message. sure, there’s barely any other people in chat, but you read his message. 

it only continues from there, he becomes an avid viewer and chatter, greeting you and your mods everytime he joins a stream. he’s such an avid viewer/chatter that both you and your mods now recognize his user, which only adds to his adoration of you. 

soon enough, he subscribes to you, tier 1 cause he is still a broke high school student with a part time job. when he scrounges up enough money to send you a donation, he beams with pride everytime you smile at the camera and thank him for the donation, always so thankful and reassuring him that he doesn’t need to donate–but you appreciate it nonetheless. 

he watches all of your content, whether it’s your daily streams, occasional tiktoks, or the rare gem of a youtube video that you post. he watches it all

he can’t help the way his heart skips a beat everytime you smile at the camera, the adorable way your nose scrunches, catching his eye every time. the way he unconsciously smiles as he watches your facecam, finding you so sweet and adorable. 

maybe he’s a bit… parasocial… but he doesn't even know what that means.

it all comes to a halt the day he gets his powers. 

suddenly, all the time he spent watching your streams and catching up on your content is now focused on honing his powers and training with his dad. 

he’s so focused on his training and hero duties that he forgets your online persona entirely. How could he be focusing on some streamer online when he’s out saving lives?

until the day he saves your life. 

it’s like a punch to the gut when he sees you. 

the streamer he used to watch, almost obsessively. he was such an avid fan to the point that william AND his parents knew about you. he hasn’t watched a stream in months, yet you still have the same effect on him. 

his heart races and he knows there’s a small flush spreading across his face.

your apartment building is on fire and you’re one of the last to be evacuated since you live on one of the higher floors with your family. the elevators are down and the fires have already reached the stairways. you’re on the balcony of your apartment, looking down helplessly to the crowd of people and firefighters that are doing their best to get to you when you feel a sudden whoosh of air. 

looking up, floating in front of you, is that new hero you’ve seen on the news. Invincible. it would be comedic the way you two stared at each other if it wasn’t for the fact that your apartment building was currently on fire. 

he’s a stuttering mess as he introduces himself before quickly swooping you up in his arms, carrying you down to safety. 

mark has faced some of the most unimaginable situations before, and yet, his heart has never raced like it did when he had you cradled in his arms. 

he’s quick to take his leave, only stopping when he hears your voice calling out to him.

“Invincible!” you yell out, hoping he will hear you over all the noise of everyone around you. when he turns to you, floating in the air, you beam up at him. 

that sweet smile he remembers, your voice, like honey, as you yell to him your thanks. 

“Thanks for the save, Invincible!”

he gives you a quick wave before he speeds off. 

You smiled. At him.

if you're into video games, he's going out of his way to learn all about your faves.

when it comes to fighter games, thinks he's soooo slick looking up combos and learning them, he's all like “heh :3 gonna sweep them off their feet” and then gets absolutely BODIED LMAO.

if you show him no mercy he'll eventually start to get frustrated, not at you obviously you're his previous angel <3

“i’m not sulking.” he says, while clearly sulking. he was supposed to impress you! why are you so good at this :(

if he doesn't get a single win he's gonna suffocate one of your plushies when you're out of sight, it keeps staring at him, is that little fella mocking him? oh it'll pay for that.

you look at him amusedly when you come back to see the very obvious dent on your plushie, caused by a certain someone's fist.

“mark.” your eyes dart between the deformed head of your plushie and your boyfriend, biting back a smile.

“yeah baby?” he's all :3 bats his eyelashes all pretty at you, acting like he didn't just beat the shit out of your plushie like BOY YOU'RE NOT SLY.

but he is pretty, so you'll spare him, for now, not in the game though :p

on the topic of video games, he's actually decent at competitive games :] he loves playing them with you but if you die in the middle of a match he gets unmotivated to finish it (⁠-⁠_⁠-⁠;⁠)

unless someone was trying to rizz you up or something during the game then yeah, HE'S GOING TO WIN.

do not play dress to impress in front of this man, he gets awfully competitive about it.

he kisses you in real life too when your characters “smooch” in the pixelated game.

he's gonna marry you for real one day, just you wait.

his irises turn into literal hearts when you pull up in a cosplay.

building legos together! he gets all bashful when you praise him when he finishes a part of the main piece.

he once tried making you pancakes, except he tried to draw one of your favorite characters with the pancake batter. and he's no artist, but he tried his best.

he's now on his 48458th attempt and it's looking like your favorite character….a little….. not really.

he'll just douse them in maple syrup, that makes everything better.

when you question the odd shaped pancakes in your sleepy dazed state, he ends up telling you the truth, embarrassed.

but when you kiss him oh so softly, your kiss far sweeter than any maple syrup, his nervousness melts off until all there's left is you.

going to the sea and painting on the pebbles and rocks with him, he loves watching the sunlight reflect off of your hair, you look like an angel, his angel. and god your eyes-

“hey does this look like eric cartman?” you show him the paintwork on your rock, snapping him out of his lovesick trance.

“babe, why is he on ozempic?” that comment makes you two giggle.

he continues, “should've picked a bigger rock, my love.”

“i saved that one for you….. you know, if we were penguins i would you the shiniest, prettiest rock i could find, which is this one so….” you shift closer to him, placing the pretty rock onto his palm.

he presses a kiss to the side of your head, fiddling with the rock in his hand. “you're adorable.”

he presses a kiss to that same rock when he's away from you on a mission, it grounds him, knowing you're there, waiting for him.

when you two end up moving in together, unpacking things takes less time than decorating your shared room.

hanging posters with him, asking him if they're centred. putting your favorite figurines on the shelves along with your favorite comics, building your own safe haven. the whole room embodies you both so well, anyone who sets foot in this room would instantly be met with a bunch of your and his interests.

his dumbass <3 accidentally ends up leaving one of his figurines on the bed, so when you two are needily making out and grinding, excited that you two wouldn't have to be quiet or keep your voices down — straddling him and pushing him down on the bed, he lets out a small squeal of surprise.

you two stop, looking at each other all 0_0

“sorry, i think-” he starts, reaching behind his back to pull out the culprit of poking him in the back, and surely it was none other than his favorite seance dog figurine, the absurdity of it all is enough to make you chuckle, he laughs sheepishly with you. a little embarrassed that seance dog ruined the sexy atmosphere.

but when you put the figurine on the nightstand, turning it to face the wall, he realizes he's gonna have the best night of his life.

and oh boy was he right :3
