My mind is in shambles đ
*REUPLOAD*
Hi Angels! I'm back! Sadly, this is in fact the last part of my story. I do have an epilogue coming later this week however. Please go see this post to vote on my next fic.
Summary: Jake Seresin is the person you hate most in the world, until he's all you have left. (idk i'm so bad at these)
Pairing: Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x Reader (for a very short period of time) Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x Natasha "Phoenix" Trace (again briefly. not sure how much of this I'll write), Jake "Hangman" Seresin x Reader (eventually)
Warnings: fighting, mentions of blood and injuries, emotional trauma.
Word Count: 3105
No one moved an inch to stop the two, both out of sheer shock and curiosity of how it was going to play out. Bradley had recovered from the punch Jake threw, blood starting to drip from his nose and hit back. Jake stumbled back in surprise before it became a full blown fight.Â
Fists were being thrown, your hand was over your mouth in shock. You werenât expecting any of this. Bradley had Jake on the ground and was on top of him, getting in a few good hits to Jakeâs face.Â
âStop, get off him!â You called out. The sound of your voice snapped Jake back into reality, the fight was flipped and suddenly Jake was on top. His face was cold and emotionless as he punched Bradley. At this point you were so scared of what could happen, you jumped into action. You rushed to pull Jake off of Bradley and caught Jakeâs elbow to your face as he pulled back for another punch.Â
You fell backward with an oof. This caused everyone else to snap out of their shock and trance and Coyote pulled Jake off Bradley. Bob helped you up as Fanboy grabbed Bradley. Your hand wiped at your bloody lip and you looked at Jake. Javy had let him go but his fists were still clenched. Mickey and Natasha had whisked Bradley out of the room and you sighed. Bob looked you over, you nodded at him to let him know you were okay.
Jake was shaking with rage. He wanted to kill Bradley, and he was damn close if he hadnât been pulled off. How dare Bradley say those things about you after what he did to you. You. The fog in his brain cleared slightly. Jake turned around to find you. You were positioned so that Bob was blocking you while he checked you over.
Bob moved to the side to grab something and Jakeâs face fell. He tried to recall what happened that could have given you a bloody lip. A sick feeling washed over him as he realized he had been so caught up in the moment that it was him who had hurt you. Jakeâs feet moved before he realized they were moving.
A hand touched your cheek softly, a thumb brushing over your lip. You looked up at Jake. You gasped at the state of his face. There was already a bruise forming on his eye and cheek, blood was dripping out of his nose and the cut over his eyebrow looked rough. The look in Jakeâs eyes was haunted.
âJake, are you okay?â Your voice was shaky. âLetâs go get you cleaned up.â You took the hand that was on your face and pulled him to your office where you kept a first aid kit. Jake was tense and silent the whole way.
Jake sat in one of the chairs across from your desk, watching you closely. You licked your lips, tasting copper as you grabbed the kit and a bottle of water from your cabinet in the corner. Jake was inspecting his knuckles when you walked back over, they were cut and red, bruises were definitely going to form. He opened and closed his fists with a grimace as you set out the things you needed from the kit.
You stood between Jakeâs legs, using the water bottle to wet some gauze, gently wiping at his hands. You inspected them, making sure nothing was broken and the cuts were superficial. His mind was racing with ways to apologize for hurting you. He felt like he was no better than Bradley at that moment.
Your hands moved to lift his chin so you could see his face. You carefully worked the gauze over his face, careful not to hurt him. Jakeâs hands were on your hips, it felt like they were burning your skin. You were done cleaning his face but you didnât want to admit it, you didnât want him to move his hands.
ââM sorry.â He finally spoke, meeting your eyes. âI didnât mean to hurt you.â Jakeâs voice was low and raspy, one of his hands leaving your waist to grab the gauze from your hand. Jake pulled you down to sit on his lap.
You withheld a gasp as you balanced yourself on his thigh. Jake wiped at your mouth with the gauze before throwing it in the trash. You grabbed his hands and ran your fingers over his knuckles.
âIt was an accident Jake.â A frown crossed your features. âBut why did you start a fight with him? Do you know how much trouble you could get in? You could be kicked out of the Navy for this. And thatâs if he doesnât press charges. You could go to jail, Jake. Iâm not worth all that.â You sighed, squeezing his hands. When you moved to get off his lap, he pulled you back down.
âStop. Donât say things like that.â Jakeâs frown matched yours. âDarlin, he can't just talk to you like that. I had to defend your honor.â You giggled, putting your hand on his cheek. âI donât know what happened, but when he said that to you I saw red. And then I hurt you, which honestly makes me no better than him.â His voice cracked.
You brought your face closer to his, making sure he was looking you in the eye. âJake, you are so much better than he is. It was an accident. I swear Iâm okay.â You reassured him, putting your forehead against his. Jake let go of your hands, putting one on your cheek and the other on your waist.
âIâm still sorry.â His thumb brushed across your lip. âYou got hurt because of me.â
âJake, stop. Itâs okay.â
He slowly moved closer, his lips brushing yours. Your breath got caught in your throat and you put your hands on his chest, gripping his shirt. You felt his heart pounding under your palm, yours was beating just as fast.Â
âTell me to stop. If you donât tell me to stop right now Iâm going to kiss you.â Jake breathed. Your mind was consumed with a struggle. You wanted him to kiss you, no you needed him to kiss you. But there was so much holding you back. You had broken up with Bradley only the night before, up until last night, you and Jake hated each other. Now you were confused.
It took you everything in your power to pull away from him. You closed your eyes and sucked in a breath. Running your fingers through your hair, you opened your eyes again, searching his. Jakeâs gaze was burning you from the inside out. He squeezed your hip before dropping his hands.
âJake I-â he cut you off by standing up.
âDonât worry about it.â He sniffed, clearing his throat. Jakeâs jaw was set. He wanted to kiss you, wanted to be the kind of man who deserved you. Clearly you still only saw him as the asshole who you couldnât stand. Honestly, Jake couldnât remember ever feeling so embarrassed,
You sat on the edge of your desk, head in your hands. You sighed and looked toward Jake. He looked upset. It felt like you could see the walls that had slowly been crumbling being built back up.
âJust let me know when youâre ready to leave. Iâll make up the guest room for you. You can stay with me for a while.â Jake started to walk out of the room.
âWait!â You called after him, standing from your desk. He turned around, raising his eyebrows. âShut the door please.â
âAshamed?â Jake shut the door behind him, leaning against it and crossing his arms. You took a few cautious steps closer to him before speaking.
âNo.â You chucked dryly. âEveryone has heard enough of my business. I donât need them hearing what Iâm about to say.â You rubbed your hands together, looking at the floor. It took you a couple minutes before you could speak again. Jakeâs eyes remained glued to you, fighting the urge to reach out and touch you.
âI want to kiss you. Maybe too much.â You felt your cheeks burning while you spoke. A burst of courage raced through you when you made eye contact with Jake. âPulling away from you just now was so incredibly hard. But Jake, I just broke up with Bradley less than 24 hours ago. Iâm still trying to figure this all out. My life is a mess. Iâm a fucking mess.â Tears were flowing freely from your eyes. âYou deserve better than that. Let me figure out where I need to go from here. Give me time to heal.â
âCome here.â Jake pushed himself off the door, walking toward you. He wrapped his arms around you tightly. âTell me when youâre ready.â You nodded against his chest, looking up at him.
âI donât expect you to wait for me, Jake. I donât know when Iâll be ready. I donât want to hold you back from happinessâ
âYouâre worth it.â Jake placed a kiss to your temple. You squeezed your eyes closed, sighing softly. You never wanted this moment to end. Unfortunately a knock on your office door cut it short. You pulled away from Jake, straightening yourself.
You cleared your throat, calling to the visitor to come in. It left you stunned when the door opened to reveal Bradley behind the door. Jake tensed next to you. You placed a hand on his bicep to calm him down. Bradley stepped in the room cautiously.
Your eyes went wide as you took in his face. He definitely got it worse than Jake. Both his eyes were starting to bruise, more were littering his cheeks and jaw. His lips had dried blood on them and his nose definitely looked a little crooked.
âY/N, uh can I talk to you?â Bradley stuttered nervously. Jake stepped in front of you, blocking you from Bradleyâs view.
âNot a chance in hell, Rooster.â Jake clenched his fists by his side, nearly unable to stop himself from hitting Bradley again.Â
âI just need to apologize, Hangman. I swear thatâs it.â Bradleyâs voice was shaky, nearly begging. Jake started to speak again but you moved to stand in front of him, putting your hands on his chest.
âJake, look at me.â He turned the glare directed at Bradley toward you and his face softened instantly. âLet him talk to me, itâs okay.â
Jake nodded. âGotta get some work done anyway.â He walked out of the room, but not without bumping Bradleyâs shoulder and shooting him a glare on the way out.
âCan I sit?â Bradley asked quietly. You nodded, gesturing to the chair Jake had previously occupied, sitting in the seat next to it. Bradley sat down, making sure to keep his distance. You grabbed an ice pack that you forgot to give Jake and handed it to Bradley.
âHe got you pretty good.â You dryly joked as he put the ice pack up to his eye.
âIâd like to think I got a few good hits in.â He joked back. A silence sat between the two of you for a while. Bradley sighed, setting the ice pack down on his lap.
âI really messed up.â He sighed, shaking his head.
âUnderstatement of the century.â You muttered under your breath. A pained look crossed his features.
âIâm sorry. For hurting you. What happened, it was never supposed to be that way. I had a crush on Natasha when I first met her. I never had the balls to ask her out when you showed up. You took my breath away. I hadnât seen her in years until we got called back to Top Gun. And when I saw her again it felt like something was unfinished. I thought what if? So we went for it.â You felt your heart breaking with every word he said.
âSo you cheated on me because you thought you might be in love with my best friend. How long was this going on before I caught you?â You kept a blank look on your face and pulled your leg away from his touch.
âSince the day we got called back to Top Gun.â He whispered. âIt started out just testing the waters. We didnât start sleeping together until after youâd moved here with me.â
You scoffed. âI canât believe this.â
âBaby, please. I still love you. I want to fix this between us.â You gave him a disgusted look, standing up and backing away from him. âLetâs work on us. I promise Iâll never hurt you like that again. What happened with Natasha is over. Love me again and I swear we can be happy. I can make you happy.â Bradley stood up, taking a step toward you. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box.
âI bought you this ring a few months back. I was going to propose when I got back from the mission but then things with Natasha started and I was confused.â Bradley got down on one knee and opened the box. You panicked, shaking your head.
âBradley, no.â You sighed, shutting the box in his hand. âWhat the hell are you thinking?â A look of disappointment crossed his features as he stood, putting the box back in his pocket. âSeriously, using a proposal against me to try to get me back? Thatâs low Bradley.â
âIâm sorry.â Bradley sniffed, offering a smile.
âI know. But I think we both know itâs done. The damage is done. I canât be with you anymore, Bradley. I think a piece of me will always have some love for you. But Iâm not in love with you anymore. And I have to take some time for myself. I hope one day you and I can be friends.â You grabbed his hands and helped him stand. âJust give me time.â
Bradley nodded sadly, squeezing your hands. âSo you and Jake huh?â You giggled, looking down at your feet. You shrugged your shoulders, redness tinted your cheeks.
âSomething like that. Who knew he could be so nice?â You smiled widely at Bradley who returned your grin.
âYou two together?â
âNah. I need some time to heal first before I see where things go with him. Iâm not ready to trust again.â Bradleyâs smile faltered slightly at the allusion to what he had done but he quickly recovered.
âI can stay with Nat while we get the house thing figured out. It was my fault anyway. You shouldnât have to suffer.â You shook your head.
âJake offered to make up his guest room for me. I donât want to make you stay somewhere else.â You furrowed your brows.
âHonestly, I donât think I can live in the house after everything. It reminds me of you and what I did. I canât wake up and face the remnants of you every day.â He sighed, shrugging his shoulders.
âAre you sure, Bradley? I donât want to kick you out.â Bradley nodded.
"House is all yours. Iâll look at apartments and get my stuff out of your way.â
âThank you.â You felt bad about it but you knew youâd need space to heal. You also wouldn't be able to decide what to do about Jake if you didnât get out of his house. Youâre already too tempted to kiss him as it is.
âCan I hug you?â He asked hopefully. You shook your head, pulling your hands away.Â
âIâm not ready for that step yet. The wound is too fresh and you just asked me to marry you for God's sake. We can be friendly, Bradley but I canât be friends right now.â Bradley looked sad as he took a step away.
âYeah I get it.â He clasped his hands in front of him, looking at you. Bradley was confused about so much right now. One thing he was sure about however, is that he was still madly in love with you. Seeing you pull away from him, watching you start to fall for Jake, that killed him. His heart was breaking more and more. You were the love of his life and his best friend, youâd been there for so long he wasnât convinced heâd really be able to survive without you.
But he loved you so much he knew he had to let you go. Maybe one day if things were right youâd come back to him, he told himself. Bradley knew deep down that wasnât true. It hurt too much in that moment to believe anything else, so he chose to suffer silently in his fantasy world for a while.
âIâve gotta get some work done. But thank you for letting me talk to you. Let me take tonight to grab some of my stuff and the house is yours.â He sent you a small smile before leaving. You sat at your desk and stared at the wall for a few minutes, mind racing. Bradley was your everything for a long time. You two were best friends and lovers. Hearing his laugh would make your day, a smile from him lit up the room. Being in his arms was the safest place you could think of.
Now you wanted to keep a safe distance. You could see a future where the two of you were amicable, maybe even friends. You knew you could forgive him. Even after all this, even after the audacity of him trying to propose to you to get you back, you knew you wouldnât be able to stay mad at him forever. You just werenât that kind of person.Â
You thought about Natasha. Other than Bradley she was your best friend. You wondered why she, knowing you and Bradley loved each other, chose to do those things with him. You thought you could trust her. You wondered how the rest of the squad was taking it.
And then your mind settled on Jake. The more you thought about him, the more your heart raced and butterflies erupted in your stomach. He was a much better man than you thought. He should have turned you away the night before given your history. But maybe the incessant fighting the two of you did was something more. They say love and hate are two sides of the same coin.

Pairing: Bob Floyd x Reader
Summary: Actions donât always speak louder than words as you tell Bob you love him for the first time.
Disclaimer: As an avid Swifite, I eagerly listened to songs from Taylor Swiftâs newest album, Midnights, and the song, âSweet Nothing,â inspired this particular piece. Iâm a softie for Bob and a softie in general, so I took great delight in writing this oneđ
Listen to âSweet Nothingâ here.

His hands firmly grip the steering wheel while his eyes are solely focused on the road, vigilant of his surroundings. You sit comfortably in the passenger seat and admire him from there. Sometimes, you canât believe youâre fortunate enough to not only have encountered such a handsome, warm, observant, sensitive, and loving man, but also to have someone who appreciates everything you embody.
As you relish your time together, you recall the poem currently tucked away in the inner pocket of your purse. Bob cooked you breakfast earlier that morning and even though you offered several times to assist him with preparing the meal, he denied your requests. Instead, he encouraged you to select something for the two of you to watch once everything was ready. With his back turned and his attention primarily on the stove, it was easy for you to briefly sneak into the other room and quietly open the desk drawer to retrieve a blank piece of paper along with a pen.
You peeked around the corner to confirm he was still occupied and were pleased to find him in the midst of adding more batter to the waffle iron (which he recently purchased after you shared waffles are your favorite breakfast food). Once you returned to your spot on the somewhat lumpy couch, you put your pen to paper and it seemed to assume a life of its own. It glided across the paper as the words came to you effortlessly and when you reviewed the collection of words, you were satisfied with the finished product. You neatly folded and placed it in your purse only to be told moments later that breakfast was served.
Now, youâre mulling over when to share this piece of writing with Bob. Itâs probably better to wait until he can provide you with his full attention as he needs to remain alert while driving. However, you fear some of your confidence may dwindle if heâs staring at you while youâre reading it, so you decide to do it now.
âBob?â
âHmm?â he responds while glancing at you momentarily from the driverâs seat.
âThereâs, um, something that I-I want to share with youâŠif thatâs okay.â You avert your gaze and suddenly become interested by a small tear in the seat beneath you.
âOf course. What is it?â he asks smoothly.
âWell, itâsâŠuh, itâs a poem.â
âA poem? One that you read recently?â
âNo. I, uh, I actually wrote it. I wrote it for you.â You turn your head slightly to gauge his reaction and observe a rosy tint decorating his cheeks.
âF-for me?â he clarifies. âReally?â
The uncertainty in his voice tugs at your heart.
âNo oneâs ever written me a poem,â he admits and itâs evident that heâs touched by the gesture despite not having heard it. Youâre baffled by this information because if possible, youâd have 100 poems dedicated to this man, enough to wear out the ink in every pen you own because words almost fail to do this man justice.
You move to unzip your purse so you can take out the carefully folded piece of paper, but Bobâs voice interrupts you.
âDo you mind waiting until weâre home? Iâm afraid I wonât be able to listen as well. Plus weâre only a few minutes away now.â He offers you a tender smile, the one that is capable of forming goosebumps on your skin and making your heart hum in contentment. How can you deny him? Not when heâs given you so much.
âSure,â you agree and feel the butterflies in your stomach flutter in a frenzied manner as you count down the minutes until youâre back at his place. He makes the final turn into the lot and you feel as though you may jump out of your skin. You steal a glance at him before you two get out of the car and see a hint of a smile on his face; you know itâs in anticipation of the words written for him and only him. You hope you donât come to regret sharing this with him now.
Once youâre inside and the familiar scent of his place greets you, you catch him looking at you expectantly.
âHere, sit down,â you instruct gently and sit beside him. The crinkled paper quivers in your hands and Bob notices this because he places his hand upon your thigh. He shoots you a small smile, wordlessly urging you to proceed. You clear your throat and read the following words that you had only formulated hours before aloud:
Ordinary was never meant to be mine
Normalcy and the expected are quite dreary, I find
Perhaps others were right in that I was asking for too much
But then again, theyâve never felt your incomparable touch
That fateful day we met permanently altered my life
And seemed to trivialize past obstacles and strife
For I had found more than I could conjure up in my mind
A man greater than lofty fantasies, one that is truly divine
Your warmth engulfs me, a coziness that cannot be replicated
Enough to shield me from pain, former hurt eliminated
Our intertwined bodies, breathing you in
My refuge is in your company as we touch, skin to skin
Your words and heart are unparalleled
You showed me your true self and as a result, I fell
With you in my life, there is no longer a void
Because I am in love with you, Robert Floyd
You lower the paper from your eyes and muster the courage to make eye contact with him even though youâre fearful of his reaction. What if he thinks your feelings are premature? Maybe heâll be overwhelmed. Perhaps heâll decide that you two need to slow down and put things on hold for the time being.
But when your eyes meet his, you take in their misty appearance and although his sensitivity is not novel, you didnât expect your words to elicit such a reaction.
âY/NâŠy-you love me?â he asks in quiet disbelief.
You nod.
âThatâŠthat was the most beautiful thing Iâve ever heard,â he reveals and you feel your breath catch in your throat. âAnd I-I love you.â
âYou love me?â you ask, mimicking his own question.
He nods while smiling and adjusting his glasses. âI do and I have for a while. I just, uh, I didnât know when the right time was to tell you and I didnât, you knowâŠwant to mess this up bec-â
You clutch his hands in yours. âI didnât want to mess this up. I thought the poem may be a bit much,â you say shyly.
âA bit much?â Bob repeats. âNo. Itâs-itâs everything.â He leans forward and kisses you so sweetly that you swear your limbs may liquify.
When you come over the next night after work, Bob asks you to grab his watch that he left on his nightstand while he cooks dinner. You wander into his bedroom only to find something else there, too: the poem you wrote him encased in a sleek, sturdy frame. The grin that spreads across your face almost strains your muscles and you pluck the watch from its place on the nightstand, continuing to grin as you make your way to him.
âOne question for you, Bob Floyd.â You dangle his watch in front of him. âWas this merely a ploy so Iâd see my framed poem?â
âI canât give away all my secrets,â he teases before wrapping an arm around you and pulling you into him, affirming how special it is to be loved by Bob Floyd.

Julie and the Phantoms
=
I sighed as I put my luggage down on my families driveway.
My body drifted towards the white shed, where my aunt used to sing and song write all the time.
I was startled as I heard the piano start to play.
I snuck over, leaving my luggage hidden so no one could steal it and peeked my head through the door.
Oh, it was just my favorite cousin Julie.
Wait.
It's my favorite cousin Julie.
I pulled the door open, making it rattle.
Julie stopped playing and looked up at me.
Her young face slacked into a shocked expression.
I grinned and ran towards her.
"Jules!! It's so good to see you."
She broke from our hug just to look up at me.
"I missed you so much."
She mumbled with teary eyes.
I pouted and wiped her tears away.
"Don't cry or I'll cry."
I said, my voice slightly shaking.
"Okay, okay, deep breath Yn."
I breathed in and out through my nose.
"You too, girly."
She did the same.
"I didn't know you were playing and singing again!"
I said, excited and beaming at her.
She grew shy and turned towards the corner of the room.
And... there are three guys in our shed. How did I not notice them.
They smiled at her and seemed to kind of ignore me, Julie not even mentioning them when she turned back to me.
"Um, Jules... why are there three men in our shed?"
I said, a little frightned.
They all whipped their heads at me, staring in shock.
"...what. Why are you staring at me like that? Jules, who are these guys?"
I said, stepping closer to my cousin and putting an arm around her shoulders.
Julie snapped out of her shock and turned to me.
"Um, well this is Luke, Reggie, and Alex."
Julie said, pointing to them as she went.
Reggie was the only one that caught my eye, he winked when he realized I was lingering on him.
My face went red and I looked away.
"Also known as Sunset Curve."
Luke said, a grin on his face.
"Tell your friends!"
Reggie added, smirking at me.
I licked my lips and turned towards Julie.
"How long were they standing there?"
I whispered, still freaked out.
"Not long at all, Yn."
Reggie answered, suddenly appearing from behind us.
"What the hell..."
I said under my breath, putting a hand over my racing heart.
"So, how come I haven't heard of these guys?"
"Because... their dead."
Julie said, playing with her braclets.
I gave her a 'WTF' smile.
"I meant from you... but that's not a funny joke."
Reggie stepped forwards and held out his hand.
"What..."
"Hold my hand."
My face turned a light pink as I looked up at his dark brown eyes.
I caustically put my hand down on Reggie's.
I gave him a 'really?' look when nothing happend.
He looked at Julie, Luke, and Alex.
"What the hell does that mean?"
"Play it off."
Luke loudly whispered.
Reggie turned and was now holding my hand properly.
"Sorry Yn. That was just an excuse to hold your hand."
I couldn't help but smile at his ridiculousness.

Dark times all around but there are still people out there who love you
Do not hurt yourself, do not hurt others, get help, talk to someone, anyone. Humanity has survived before and we can do it now if we all just support each other. My country and my people let me down and endangered my life but thereâs nothing I or anyone else can do about that so letâs try to spread the love that is so clearly lacking.

And to every single person who has taken the time to read, like, share, or follow along with my stories, THANK YOU! I am not a very emotional or outgoing person, but you have genuinely made my life so much better!
