i feel like if somebody asked sticks the badger what gender she identifies as she'd be like "i'm not gonna let the government steal any more of my data" and then try to hit the other person with a branch

Before I start, I will say that it is perfectly okay to just not like the comics. I'm not trying to force anybody to start liking the comics.

Why do so many people in sonic fandom hate the comics so much just because of certain characters' characterisation? Like do you realise characterising certain characters differently in a non-canon and alternate universe isn't 'destroying the writing' or whatever people say it is. Even if both Sonic the comic and Archie were written after many characters' main personalities were fully set in stone, they'd probably still write them differently because it's an adaptation. Because it simply wouldn't be interesting to read a comic without any changes. Personally, I find things like Sonic being written as a jerk really good for the story of the comics, but I'm not saying that it's better than the game's characterisation or that the comic's version is the 'real' characterisation. Different characterisations fit different media.

When I was a kid I associated with the term ‘tomboy’ a lot because I didn’t want to be seen as feminine. Gender ideals had always felt restrictive to me so my 7-year-old rationale was along the lines of ‘tomboys get to do boy stuff while also being girls, so that means if I become a tomboy I can be whatever I want!’

It probably also had something to do with being autistic and unable to relate to the other girls around me or feel included in their gendered social dynamics. The shared experiences and community of being a girl was never something I was a part of, so I sought out something else on my own.

Finding out what being Agender is was honestly really freeing. I can define my identity to myself and pick out my relationships without having to conform to or oppose gender attributes and stereotypes. I’m not a woman or a man or another specified gender, I’m an autistic artist and a bunch of other things too :D

I'm glad you figured it out! Gender norms can be confusing, even if one doesn't have a gender.

Tbh the problem with ship wars is that everyone tries to find a moral high ground to prove their ship is superior when actually shipping should be about making two characters kiss like a kid playing with barbie dolls
