Mercy

Mercy

by Thomas Scott

“I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God.” - Romans 12:1

There is something well calculated to keep us humble in the perpetual reference made in the Scriptures to mercy. We read of nothing granted us on the ground of merit, of nothing that comes from the hand of God as the reward of our good deeds or obtained by us as matter of desert. But the MERCY of God meets us at every point: the food we eat, the air we breathe, the garments we wear, the domestic comforts we enjoy, our civil advantages, and our religious privileges are all represented as matters of mercy – undeserved mercy.

This I say is humbling; yet it is just. Mercy must be the plea of the sinner. Mercy must spare from day to day the man who deserves to be cast into hell. Mercy must supply the daily bread of the man whose very life is forfeited to the justice of his offended creator. And as we are spared and our needs supplied, and ten thousand sources of comfort are opened to us – and not to us only but to all the sinners of our race – we may well say that “the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord,” and that “goodness and mercy have followed us all the days of our life.”

And, my brethren, it would be well for us to habituate ourselves to look at all our comforts in this light. They are continued to us in mercy, since by sinning against God we have forfeited every one of them. This would silence many a murmur and produce delightful feelings of gratitude under circumstances which excite us now to anything rather than contentment and praise. Our language would often be like that of Jeremiah: “Why should a living man complain; a man for the punishment of his sin?”

But though a most powerful argument in support of a duty like that of the text might be drawn from the consideration of the innumerable temporal mercies bestowed upon us by our gracious God, yet these are not the things to which St. Paul here alludes. He is drawing this epistle to a close, which, while it is highly practical, is also most highly doctrinal. In its commencement he exhibits, in all its awful nature, the depraved condition of the Gentile world. He then urges home upon the Jews the question whether they were at all better than the Gentiles. And having shown that they were not, he draws the melancholy conclusion that “there was no difference, for that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Having thus established the universal sin and consequent condemnation of the whole human race, he proceeds to meet the grand inquiry, “How may man be just with God?” Had he remained spotless, innocent, and pure in the state wherein he was created, the answer would have been easy: he will be justified by his works, by his own acts and deeds, his constant never-failing obedience to the divine law. But when that law had been violated again and again by every child of Adam, no conclusion could possibly be clearer than that by the deeds of the law could no flesh living be justified in his sight. Justification could not, therefore, depend on the law or on merit.

The apostle then goes on to shew that though man cannot justify himself, and is consequently in a state of condemnation, he is not on that account to be shut up under despair. But he proceeds to prove that there is a righteousness imputed without works, even that righteousness which Christ has brought in, and which he has provided by his own perfect fulfilment of the law, and by his obedience unto death in our place. This is by grace; all of unmerited favor, free goodness, mere mercy. “We are justified freely by his grace.” In this righteousness we obtain a part through faith. Faith receives the record which God has given concerning his Son. Faith stretches out the hand to “receive the things that are freely given to us of God.” Faith relies on the promise, and applies in assured expectation of receiving that which it asks, and which it knows God is ready to give. So important is the grace of faith that we are said to be justified by it, and by it alone. Yet faith has in itself no merit. It is no work which will compensate for failures in other things. It only receives with firm reliance those promises and those gifts which God bestows on the sinner – of mere mercy and free grace.

Come to think of it.....

Sitted in a Bus. This mom keeps shouting at the child, telling him that he is Stupid. Over and Over! I don't know what this boy did... But seriously, he doesn't deserve such tongue lashing! To those parents who call their kids stupid, idiot, useless.... It will grow on them! Tip: If you have to really call them names, please use names they won't understand... Like my mom did! She probably called me a thousand things! I never knew what they were because she dug deep into our ethnic language words like 'dongomothi'... Like tf, is that even a word! (Yes, I was such a wayward child)....Now That I am grown, I laugh at such words..! They are hilarious. A kid however who hears the name useless and stupid all the time?Gosh. Not cool! Not cool at All!

Script Your Desired Life -Part 1-

I was worried the post would be too long to read in 1 sitting, so I decided to publish it in parts because I miss my blog :(

Y’all. I love making subliminals, blockage removals and boosters for myself, but sometimes I want to dramatize and exaggerate my current life. I’m tired of wanting to drown myself out of my current life and watch other’s realities on shows or what they show online.

Now, I’m bored of *that* attitude. I always want to be in euphoria.

💎 Exaggerate, exaggerate, EXAGGERATE, your daily routine!

Script Your Desired Life -Part 1-
Script Your Desired Life -Part 1-

Before Dawn

If I wake up around and unable to fall back asleep, I’ll have a handful of organic blueberries and a shot of cold brew to wake myself up. I have an early morning class and falling back asleep will throw my schedule off.

In the Morning

Script Your Desired Life -Part 1-

Instead of “I wake up excitedly at 5AM,” it’s, “I step out of bed into my cutest house shoes with the sound of my waterfall white noise machine cascading me into a 5:00 morning. Vitamins? In my greens. I already have on under eye masks and a glass of whole starfruit juice for an energy boost. Am I in the mood for more fruit juice, iced coffee or cold brew? Cold brew, then decaf for the rest of the day.

Script Your Desired Life -Part 1-

“I am feeling the beneficial effects of coffee every millisecond”

I can’t wait to use my rich b— Breville with my homemade, toasted croissants covered in honey butter with my espresso accidentally tasting the same since I did dip it in. Does white chocolate espresso and honey butter croissants taste weird together to anyone else?

I’m going to have perfect marks when I go back to school. My commute is a breeze & my morning dragonfruit smoothies make the experience even better.

It’s not the writing that should be exaggerated as a point, that’s only being more descriptive. Play a sparkling noise as you wash your face, study, anything! You’re the character you dreamed of.

⚠️ Be ready, this will feel out of body ⚠️

When I feel out of body, I have unlimited amounts of energy, confidence and clarity.

Exaggerate your morning by applying the perfect lacquer you have on your nightstand to stand up tall, a continental breakfast in bed, pulling out your perfume and makeup book to layer your scents. Sheesh, buy an electric kettle for early morning tea.

For dreary days, script a contingency plan such as drinking hot cinnamon tea or mango boba, applying siren makeup with sparkly blues & greens, leaving early to where you need to be, bubble wrapping your personal coffee/tea cup to be used in public. For example, “Rain never showers the same. I look out of my window in wonder with my favorite rain shoes on and how easy my trip will be, but enough daydreaming.

💍💍 Allow yourself to be inspired by parts of your personal favorites that scare you.

What is my favorite color(s)? Wellll, society is telling me my favorite color is pink because periwinkle is unusual for a woman like me. No ma’am???

For example’s sake, I drive a Ford Fusion. Not anymore. I drive a Tesla Model Y to university.

💎💎💎 Now, EXAGGERATE your habits & favorites. Ask yourself why you are really afraid of expressing yourself to the fullest. Is it because you’re worried about how you’ll be perceived in other’s conscious minds? Is the attention you’ll garner frightening?? Or exciting?

You love perfumes? Try ouds with other fragrance mediums to layer your scents like a plush throw on a mattress.

Separate your perfumes by sexiness, sweetness and mellowness.

Script Your Desired Life -Part 1-

I love getting my lashes done. Go above and beyond your usual options such as classic, hybrid and volume for styles such as cat eye, glamorous, *more/less fans*, a dollop of color, dramatic bottom lashes or lash lifts with bottom lashes.

I craft inspire lists. These are items I buy at 1 time as a routine shopping day. Wishlists and dream items are banned from my vocabulary.

✨✨✨✨ Play your unconscious conscious’ mind games. You know what you really want. Your unconscious conscious’ mind’s world is your fantasy land. Unshackle yourself from self limitations of not being good enough or less disciplined to complete your goals due to your upbringing.

If you lay in bed hours after you’ve woken up, questioning why you won’t get up when you have the energy to get out of bed, write in your script, “I am making omniscient decisions about my life at the speed of the multiverse,” with, “I have unlimited energy and storage for processing ideas for my life [at the speed of the multiverse],”

If you have to ask yourself if you're 110% in control of your life, you haven’t forced your free will entirely.

Go speak your entire mind when your reputation is questioned in front of others.

Be Luxury, Live Luxury.

Purity of heart

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. - Matthew 5:8

The Words of Jesus From Matthew 5: 2-12 have always been a commonly spoken about passage throughout church history. Even as a child I remember in children’s church being prompted by teachers to memorize “the beatitudes”. The issue has been that we have become overly familiar with those words, we have adopted the attitude “oh I’ve got those ones, I know that passage”. I want to take a few moments here to invite you to once again peer into the words of Jesus found here; and allow yourself to be filled with the Spirit of revelation at these eternal words spoken from the lips of the one whom from His mouth comes a sharp two-edged sword (see Revelation 1:16). The greatest vision that a man can have is the vision of God, the greatest glimpse that spirit of man can see is the very likeness of God.

Jesus knew this, being the one from the bosom of the Father. So he calls out to a great hidden desire in the depths of 1 “Purity of heart is the pathway to the great hidden longing of the human design; and that is to behold the One whose image you were made in” fallen man, the desire to behold the eternal glory of God. “Blessed, truly happy” He declares are the pure in heart because their spirit gets the great reward of clearer vision of the uncreated God! Think about Ezekiel at the river Chebar; after having visions of God’s uncreated glory he sat there for 7 days astonished! (See Ezekiel 2: 15). Hollywood has never dreamed of such a movie or production that could leave a man or woman stunned out of their mind for 7 days unable to move at what they had just witnessed. Let the declaration of Jesus here that “blessed are the pure in heart” grip your heart and draw you in to what you are longing for in the deepest place of your human spirit; which is to see God more clearly.

Purity isn’t some boring thing that God thought up to impose rules on you to keep you from enjoying life, purity is the pathway to the greatest pleasure! Purity of heart is the pathway to the great hidden longing of the human design; and that is to behold the One whose image you were made in. When you see Him every question you have ever had about yourself is answered. I hope the Spirit uses these weak words to stir up that great longing in your heart. And I hope you find yourself in the place of growth into the greater pleasure of beholding Him more fully.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. - 2 Corinthians 13:14

I hate how our society has not only normalized but almost glorified alcoholism. I was scrolling through the reactions to a recent study that highlighted the (obvious) health risks that consuming alcohol poses and people were not only surprised to hear that consuming alcohol is not good for them, but some were even defensive/mad about it.

How out of touch with reality does a person have to be to think that putting literal alcohol inside their body will not harm them? Why is it that certain people cannot see themselves having fun or "enjoying" life if they are not under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Why are we glamorizing the use of these substances as a must in social interactions, especially for young people? Choosing to be sober is seen as an act of defiance in today's culture and it speaks volume about it.

Your body is your temple, you are the only one responsible for taking care of it and nourishing it. You make the decision to allow others, oftentimes miserable, to influence you in ways that could end up eventually harming it and shortening your lifespan, or not. Living a conscious life where you do not follow the crowd but do what's best for you and always uphold your best interests is not easy, but it is so worthy. In the long term you will look back to your younger years and will thank yourself for remaining consistent and disciplined in the habits that helped you improve your life, and if you're currently engaging in damaging ones, remember it's never too late to start. Choose better for yourself today.
