Summary:  While Jack is now God, revamping Heaven for the human souls under his care, Cas has become the new ruler and embodiment of the Empty. He is content with this fate until Jack brings upsetting news: Dean has passed away unexpectedly.

And Dean is not finding peace, not even in Jack’s improved afterlife.

Instead, Dean has discovered a way to traverse the Axis Mundi to visit other universes, alternative Earths, and has been meddling in their fates. Dean tells Jack that it’s because he’s looking for his “family,” but Jack feels he’s really just looking for one individual: Castiel.

Castiel must confront Dean and the consequences of his confession, or else Jack may need to take corrective actions. But will their reunion be enough to bring Dean peace? Or is there still some greater destiny the hunter must fulfill, even in death…

Or perhaps, through death itself.

Castiel’s hair spiked up in front.

I kind of figured Castiel had just left his hair the same as Jimmy Novak had styled it. But Jimmy never styled it up like Castiel usually does. So Castiel chose to make his vessel’s hairstyle similar to Dean’s.

Here is Jimmy Novak before becoming Castiel’s vessel.

Jimmy Novak’s hair wasn’t spiked up. He swept his hair to one side. Incidentally, his wife Amelia Novak also swept her hair to one side.

Even if unintentional, it’s easy to imagine given 15x18 that Castiel was already crushing on the human he pulled from Hell before meeting him in a vessel. So prior to Dean summoning him he ditches Jimmy’s wedding band, and he decides to spike his vessel’s hair up to match Dean.

Castiel had seen Jimmy and Amelia part their hair the same, so maybe he figures that’s some human way of showing their bond.

And when Castiel forgot about Dean, and was Emmanuel, he stopped spiking his hair up. Without the memory of Dean he just barely bothers with his hair.

The next time Dean and Cas meet his hair is spiked up off his face again.
