Mandrake from Epic (2013)

So, the Movie EPIC in 2013, I Like Both the Villains/Antagonists, but There's One That I Love Over the Other...

Okay so, Mandrake is the Main Antagonist and Villain of the movie. He is the King of the Boggans and his goal is to destroy the green Forest and infest it with Rot and Decay.

He is vicious, determined, and intimidating, but most importantly of all…

✨He’s a Really Great Dad✨💖

His son, Dagda, is one of the antagonists. His description is, “Like his father, Dagda was fearless, confident and sadistic, but was also passionate and loyal.” He comes off as a big dumb brute, but in reality he just wants his Dad to like him and not disappoint him. He had a felicitous childhood and was an obedient son, idolizing his father at a young age.

Okay so, proof that Mandrake is a Great Dad (SPOILERS): 1) After Mandrake was done telling Dagda about his plan to kill the Queen and take the Royal Pod, he complimented Dagda’s looks in his new rat pelt, saying, “You look good in Rat. It’s…slimming!”

2) Waiting to assassinate the Queen of the Forest, Dagda’s getting a little impatient. Mandrake says to “Be patient, son. The Forest wasn’t grown in a day.” In response, Dagda says, ”but we can destroy it in one, right?” and Mandrake says, with a proud smile on his face, “That’s the spirit!”

3) When Dagda got killed (🫡), Mandrake immediately went after him when he heard his yelp, seeing him plummeting to the earth after getting shot by an arrow to the chest, screaming in a pained voice, “Son! NOOOOO!!!”

4) Some time after Dagda’s death, after Mandrake got a couple of his henchmen to “Frog March” Buffo to where the Boggans are invading the Forest, Buffo insulted Mandrake’s general by calling him an idiot. Clearly, he didn’t know who that general was. Mandrake angrily says, “That ‘idiot general’ was my SON!!” jumped off the platform he was standing in, and slammed that Rot Staff onto the ground with Full Force, felling a giant tree, uprooting it in the process, ways away from the Boggan Brigade. He was PISSED.

5) He tortured a couple of his hostages by telling stories about his son like a Proud Dad and showing off Dagda’s baby fangs and first molt XD 💖 Look at how happy this MF is to be talking about his son!

Now, you may be thinking, “Yeah, that looks and sounds like a character she’d have a crush on.” Which, you’re not wrong, he is pretty hot, especially with that Bat Cape he has, BUT I actually like DAGDA a bit more! Why? I don’t know. Maybe because he seems like a brute on the outside but has a big heart on the inside? Not wanting to disappoint his Dad and just wanting him to like him (bro, Mandrake already does like and love you, this just means you have self-esteem issues now)? In Cut Content it was planned that Dagda was going to go against his father’s plan of completely rotting the forest, so that might mean he understood the importance of both Growth and Decay and that means he Grew and Progressed as a thoughtful Character? He also is rather Round and Squishy looking so it would feel great to snuggle him (he’d smell bad, but hey, Free Real Estate)? I dunno. He just grew on me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

fortunately the target was protected by a young man who wielded two stone swords and his golems that stood by him, abigore lost his friends, his home, and his status all in one night, he swore to kill the guardsman that took his life away. the one he truly cared about the most was the only woman he ever loved, rosette wineblood, she felt great despair when he was gone, but over time she saw the faulty ways of the steeltusk tribe, leaving it behind for the life of piracy, where she leads a colorful and vibrant pirate life. Unfortunately he was blinded by the bloodloss he uses the artifact to finish his enemy, but it fails him.. after using the incomplete orb of dominance to transform into the heart of vengeance, he loses control of the orb, and is absorbed into the vessel, where his arch nemesis proceeds to crush it, finalizing the orb and abigore's fate. art by me
