I remember the day, when I opened the door,
And I looked upon a cat, upon the soaked floor,
It’s abyssal fur frizzled, the color of midnight,
The yellow eyes, with a tint of light,
Stared at me, with unknown resilience,
Testing me for something that I ought to know,
Yet, suddenly it began to snow,
Flurries, soft, and gentle,
And when they smothered the night,
It blanketed the cat,
Who plodded inside,
Who had the slyest smile,
Who came to my legs, and leaned its head,
The purring ever so slightly,
The little paws gripping on tightly,
The stray cat, so calm, so warm,
Its breathing body strong amidst the cold,
And it fell asleep within my home.
The constant howl of wailing winds,
The clouds above the sandy shores,
Vivid skies and setting suns,
The melody of birds high and sung.
Fire that caresses the flaring blue,
Seemingly scorching the beige hue,
Joy and serenity remain strong and true,
The life lived now with no such rue.
Storms that careen over the tidal waves,
Surging like the knight who was once so brave,
Wings of loft, upon my soul,
To the deepest seas, and the golden shoals.
There is helpless heartbreak,
Ripples in the endless lone lake,
The scattering of light,
Swift, unsteady, the wind,
Drifting above the clouds.
It's so hard,
To see the kindle,
The hope,
When you spend time,
In solace,
Solitude,
Till the day when,
The world's upside down,
The water from the skies,
Threatening to drown,
There are soft cries,
Of people who lie,
Who only say,
I give up.
But it is said,
That life's light waits in its stead,
That maybe sacrifice,
Is worth something.
Even if tolerance is finite,
Maybe it's worth fighting,
To face it all,
To save someone,
To know that you tried,
In fortitude.
I wish not to be with someone,
But with somewhere,
A place that is free,
With surreal scenery,
A place where I can watch,
The Sun,
At the crack of dawn,
The running fawns,
Grazing,
The looming mountains protecting,
The greenery,
The canyons,
The one canary,
Who sings its song,
Who makes me cry,
In sorrow and in joy,
I don't want to be with one,
I want to be with the setting sun,
The endless sky,
As I close my eyes,
And open my soul,
For I can trust the trees,
And listen to the rustling leaves.
