Sounds Silly But. One Of The Greatest Things Ever As Someone With A Trauma Background Is Learning That

sounds silly but. one of the greatest things ever as someone with a trauma background is learning that things aren't inherently as bad or as scary as I thought. it IS possible to assemble Ikea furniture without arguments. is IS possible to discuss boundaries without having something thrown at me for speaking out of turn. it IS possible to spend hours on end sharing your favourite things with your favourite people, and not get called annoying for it. the world is an incredible place

Instead Of Looking At Objects And Trying To Copy Them Exactly (including The Angle, As If It Were Flat),

Instead of looking at objects and trying to copy them exactly (including the angle, as if it were flat), the pros READ the shapes & forms! THEN, using perspective, they create an object of their own in their drawing - one that is BASED on their subject, but also fits the needs of the piece.

This tutorial uses concepts and terms I go over in my other “visual math” sheets - which I posted a few days ago.

when im playing a game alone and theres danger i am quiet and stoic, by necessity. when im playing with friends and theres danger i start screaming and sqwuaking like a chimp to communicate over long distance that there is danger and i am distressed. This is because humans are social animals who evolved to live in groups and signal to eachother when herobrine is there

A Pokémon Art study:

Wasn't Feeling particularly inspired to draw a whole finished illustration so I settled on a doing a bunch of sketches and as one thing led to another, it became a whole study.

Suprisingly: It actually did refresh and inspire me cause now I wanna test this new skill some more!!

The Girls
Notes:
-Moreso than the standard anime style, (try to) see torsos as simplified ball jointed dolls.
- On fatter forms: Bust makes up majority of the rib section, creating more circular forms.
- Focus on flow and simplified designs more so than 100% Accuracy.
-5-6 Heads tall.

On the right side:
Melony, Katy, Palina, Iridia, Nessa.
They have been broken down to basic shapes and proportions.

On the left:
4 rows of faces looking around at different angles. The bottom most row has been broken down into what planes build the facial structure of this style.
The Guys
Notes:
-Legs Vs. Torso proportions seem to vary more than the girls??
- Base torso shape can best be described as "Slightly compressed rectangles."
- Shape over accuracy unless character is highly muscular.
-5-6 Heads tall.

On the right side:
Team skull Grunt, Gaeric, Professor Laventon, Blue (Gary Oak) , Player character (pokemon Scarlet violet).
They have been broken down to basic shapes and proportions.

On the left:
4 rows of faces looking around at different angles. The bottom most row has been broken down into what planes build the facial structure of this style.
Extra Practice:
Goals: try to understand how the face shape is constructed.
Notes: Newer gens seem to have thinner faces while older gens seem to have wider. (I will try to average the sizes out to something I like)

Current notes:
The two major cures in the face occur in the eyebrow and cheek, which in this style is located just below the nose.
in between is usually a concavities but can be made of 2 convexities.

on the top row is multiple different styles of breaking down the face in order to better understand the proportions and shapes using Jessie and James as the example.

On the bottom is multiple portraits of various pokemon characters with a red and blue line next to their face used to practice and examine the line shapes.

on the bottom right is a series of faces sketched repeatedly as the artist tries to understand how to build a face.
Various poses from Adorkastock's Deviantart page used as reference and transformed into pokemon style characters. due to this being a study of the base form of pokemon characters, they have not been given costumes and have been left in a state where the undersketch breaking down the shapes is still visible.
Various sketched faces from the pokemon series, both anime and games, used to understand how the official artists of the pokemon team draw different angles and expressions.

Key take-away!! Not only are art studies good in general for learning but can be a good way to refresh and inspire yourself!! Even if it isn't your usual style.

shout out to @adorkastock 's HUGGE repitoir of poses as they were used for the "Reference practice: From Non-Anime reference photos" section as I practiced drawing something not from Pokémon and translated it into Pokémon's art style.

Many People Asked Me How To Draw Forms. Here You Go. Very Simple. Just Get Used To Drawing REALLY Simple

Many people asked me how to draw forms. Here you go. Very simple. Just get used to drawing REALLY simple shapes in perspective (cubes, cylinders and spheres. After that - all those shapes being cut, deformed and combined). And that’s it, if you draw those shapes easily - you can draw anything, congratulations
