Fox: We have a lot more in common. We both are shunned by our own people. The GAR hates us Corries. The Jedi "hates" the Síth. The Senate hate us clones. The republicans the separatists. Where does the circle end? Nowhere. Obi-Wan might be the best negotiator but he's send to war with Cody. For that talent? Unfitting. I would have had him in the Senate but they don't deserve him and he's a bit dense if you look at Anakin.
Count Dooku: how did you even get into this ship? I made it sure it was secured.
Fox: no..no..listen to me. I'm not finished here. Anakin. Anakin is the embodiment of a war prodigy but he does seem to lean to your side. Doesn't he? But foremost, I agree with you on the Jedi council. Not trustworthy. They do praise themselves to help everyone but had their noses deep in businesses that have nothing to do with them or don't require to believe in some force osik to deal with problems but real actions. And the only progress so far, as I traced back, is you.
Fox taking a sip from a bottle of moonshine: And no one knows this but I. You and me. Shouldn't we be colleagues? Weren't you that guy that ordered us? No wonder we fit so well. We weren't fabricated for the Jedi....no it was all you.
Count Dooku: And how did you come to this conclusion?
Fox: Nala Se.
Count Dooku: she...?
Fox: we're planning on burning the Senate down. Are you in?
Count Dooku: from the very start, Commander.
Anakin: why do you never actually try to kill me? Dooku: you're my great-grandpadawan, I only have one of those :( Obi-Wan, internally: now there's a thought Obi-Wan, the next day: *adopts the entire GAR as his padawans* Dooku, getting his ass chased across the galaxy by two million clone-Padawans who listen to and immediately apply his feedback on their ligthsaber technique: I can't even be mad, this is everything I ever wanted in life

yes there's a lot of things to criticize about Star Wars but one thing i will always love it for is being so unabashedly tragic
i'm sure it's been said before, but one of the main things i think powers the SW fandom (fics in particular) is the (in)evitability of it all
time travel fix-its are one of the most popular sub-categories of fics that i've seen (for the prequels at least) but i see it much more rarely in other fandoms. i know each fandom has their own niches that they dig into but star wars fic writers took one look at this decades long story of people who were doomed from the start and said 'not in my house bitch'
and i'm never tired of it, because there's so many places where just one different action could have changed the story entirely, but didn't
was it over the moment Palpatine succeeded in feeding Anakin's fears and his distrust toward the Jedi? the moment the Sith gained control of the senate? what about when the war started, when the Jedi were made generals of men designed to be their executioners? what about when Dooku left the order? when Qui-Gon Jinn died, leaving barely-knighted Obi Wan Kenobi to raise a child he had no idea how to care for? when the Jedi massacred the Mandalorians at Galidraan, leaving Jango Fett primed (hah) for revenge? when Palpatine, and thus the Sith, first gained influence? when the Jedi were tied to the Republic, all the way back at the Ruusan Reformation?
there are so many little moments that turn into this huge web of cause and effect when you take a step back. and in canon, these characters are dooming themselves while we watch, but what reason do they have to do anything different? they don't know they're in a tragedy - its dramatic irony at its goddamn finest
but there's this thing about decisions: for it to be a choice, there has to be another option. and our heroes make their mistakes because that's what they do, while we aren't privy to that other option, leaving that little what-if. it's a favorite human pastime, to think about what might have been.
we start at episode 4, though, fourty or so years after what you could arguably call the start, and find ourselves watching the dominoes fall in place throughout 1, 2, and 3.
and we can hate the choices, hate the tragedy, hate what happened to our beloved characters, but we knew. we had the luxury of knowing.
it's a love story, it's political intrique, it's sci-fi at its finest, and they were dead from the start.

A stab at an Arcane-style Ahsoka to pair with this Maul
I think clone wars dark side anakin is my favorite dark side anakin. because yeah, in the movies, you can tell he's gonna fall. maybe not in the phantom menace, but in attack of the clones and revenge of the sith, it's so obvious! everything about him just oozes both light and dark, the dark steadily winning. but clone wars anakin? clone wars anakin? oh, he's a sun. he's blindingly bright and he's happy. we can go full episodes without a trace of the dark side showing up on his face or in his actions, which makes when he does go dark even more jarring. when he snaps and attacks and the imperial march plays faintly in the background, when not even ten minutes earlier in the episode he was joking around with ahsoka. that is peak dark side anakin to me, because that is what i imagine anakin truly was. happy and fun and then snapping, terrifying. it's why no one believed it when he fell. why obi-wan and padme and ahsoka didn't see it coming.
Got inspired, made something, hope you enjoy.
Pretty accurate if I do say so myself.
i think about ahsoka's "she was my friend" line too many times a day
(commission info // tip jar!)
(On the way to Mandalore for Ahsoka's stint as a student teacher at the academy)
Anakin: "and he totally didn't know I was there because he said, and I quote, HAD YOU SAID THE WORD I WOULD HAVE LEFT THE JEDI ORDER"
Ahsoka: "which could mean nothing."
Anakin: "which could mean nothing."
"Perhaps a lesser-known gift of Kenobi's was his ability to listen."
(AU where post-banishment Ahsoka gets zapped back to TPM, strapped with a fundamental distrust of the Jedi, an apocalyptic vision of the future, and a mandate to help Anakin Skywalker. So, in all this, it's nice to have a confidant.)

Happy May 4th!!
One of my favourite tropes in fanfic is the clones trying to get their Jedi to wear some armour. My friend however, suggested a very fun solution to the clones their issue.
Paint ball guns.
The clones start carrying around paint ball guns and try to hit their General’s and Jedi Commanders wherever they are exposed.
But just imagine they are in the middle of a meeting, and one of the clones just whips out a paint ball gun and tries to shoot their commanding officer.
“This wouldn’t have happened if you were wearing armour, sir.”
“Saying that we'll meet again someday, we waved to each other, but it seems we won't see each other again
That final lie was a kind one; I won't forget”
“The sky we saw that day, the crimson sky; will you remember someday?
Embracing a promise that could not be fulfilled, the two of us set out”

One-shot collection following you and the daggers as President Tom Kazansky's senior staff. This is pretty heavily inspired by The West Wing - unless otherwise stated, one-shots are standalone, but I would recommend going chronologically in the order below.
Requests for this AU are open, and please ignore any political inaccuracies
COMPLETED.
teaser/introduction to the au
down bad - you're called into work on your day off for an emergency, and bradley wants to know why you're dressed up
if you're too shy (let me know) - assigned with the gargantuan task of organising paperwork for the state of the union, bradley learns something about you that he didn't know
i wish you would - when bradley's told that he'd be saved in the event of a nuclear war, but none of his friends make the cut, he doesn't know how to feel about it. he also doesn't know how to feel about his feelings for one of said friends.
heartbeats - president tom kazansky drops a bombshell that could destroy his re-election campaign
falling in - jake meets his match on live tv, while you're tasked with thanksgiving celebrations
say don't go - when sickness strikes the west wing, bradley ends up taking care of you
false alarms - a lot can change in a week when it comes to washington - political alliances, work trips, relationships?
sweet nothing - bradley's determined to make your first official date a good one, but the white house has other plans
wildest dreams - part 1 - part 2 - part 3 - tragedy forces you to re-evaluate your relationship with bradley
i'm with you - when bradley struggles to readjust to normal life after the shooting, you don't know how to help him

in the living room - with bradley away on the campaign trail, you can't seem to adjust to life back home

the very first night - you make the decision to leave tom kazansky's campaign and bradley does not take it well (prequel!)
false alarms (the bonus parts) - after you and bradley finally get together, it feels like the entire universe is conspiring to keep you apart. drabble! doesn't affect plot
an executive decisions christmas
i miss you, i'm sorry - When Bradley takes a job at the other side of the country without consulting you, it breaks your heart that he didn't trust you enough to tell you. Ending things with him is the hardest decision you've ever had to make. But when you run into him three years later, and it's obvious neither of you are doing well, do you have it in you to take him back? Or are you both doomed to the same mistakes that broke you apart the first time? This is an Executive Decisions AU, and takes place instead of In The Living Room, but can be read standalone.

“sometimes you’re just hard to love,” you say, looking out into the night sky, with tears in your eyes, an argument pushed you over the edge.
he simply looks at you, despite the breath he was holding, he didn’t want to make your life harder than it was but he couldn’t help it.
“then leave, i’m not stopping you,” his mouth moves faster than his thoughts.
he sees the light leave your eyes as he says that, immediately regretting what he said, swallowing the dry spit in his mouth.
so you do as you’re told, you leave. ‘i’ll apologize in the morning, it’s fine’ your lover thinks to himself. he will never see you again.

This YouTube comment has been on my mind since I finished SOTR so this is what I came up with:
Lucy Gray was the mockingbird, living on the outskirts of district 12 and was there at the wrong time when they were forced to stay there after the Dark Days. They were subjected to the Capitol’s politics despite not being a part of Panem, technically speaking. Lucy Gray became part of the Games and, likewise, the mockingbird became affiliated with the Capitol through the jabberjay’s release into the woods, but it still continued to sing its own song.
Haymitch was the jabberjay, a Capitol tool that did what it had to in order to survive. The Capitol thought they could control them, but they retaliated in the form of rebellion. Haymitch refused to be a piece in their game and tried to end it, and the jabberjay, in the eyes of the Capitol, created a freak of nature that showed the Capitol’s lack of complete control.
Katniss was the mockingjay, a slap in the face of the Capitol, something that was never meant to exist. Together, the song of the mockingbird that lived on for generations and the stubbornness of the jabberjay that refused to die, the mockingjay had the best of both worlds. It was a symbol of rebellion and unity.
