β’ Ultraman Arc Episode 8
My favorite Goji is Godzilla Earth. Before i read the prequel books he was my second favorite, with KiryuGoji being the first. Earth's design, sounds and presence alone are amazing enough for me to place him there. But after i read the books, i think no other Godzilla ever made might make it to the top like him. The way the people talked about him in complete fear, like he is quite literally a natural disaster, the way no monster or human weapon could come close to stoping him, and how the monsters themselfs are afraid of him. The moment when he attacks New York, shooting a beam at the sky from the ocean, killing Varan instantly and bringing the city into total darkness with the shockwave of the blast, and then a roar, that was when he became my favorite Godzilla. And i don't think i even need to mention how amazing the chapter about him destroying Gorath is.
I used to say that Millennium Godzilla was my favorite design for the character, but that might not be the case anymore. I still love it, but after thinking about for a good long time, I have found that there are designs that I like better. And I finally narrowed down my top 5 favorites. So here it is. My Top 5 Favorite Godzilla Designs
More specifically, his look in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Godzilla Tokyo SOS, AKA "KiryuGoji." The jagged elements and wolf-like face are very sleek, the golden eyes really pop, the teeth are nice and visible, it has pretty much everything going for it. The one thing it's got going against it, and this is just a personal thing for me, is the size. Of all the designs in my top 5, this one is the smallest at a mere 50 meters. Some may argue that that's how big Godzilla should be, but personally, I like my Gojis in the neighborhood of 100 to 120 meters. But aside from that, Millennium Goji is fantastic
More specifically, his design in 2019 and 2021. It's big, it's menacing, and it looks like it could be an actual animal. Sure the head's a bit small and the teeth could look better, but it still works.
This design is brilliant, in my opinion. It's like a perfect blend of Heisei Goji and Monsterverse Goji. Sometimes the skin looks less like scales and more like lumpy, gray warts. It's not bad, but it can be a little distracting. Most of the time, however, it's not a problem, and this Goji definitely fits with the narrative Gemstone is creating. If they make more media with this design, I am game.
You can't go wrong with what is, arguably, the most recognizable design Godzilla has ever had. Some even consider this the definitive design for Godzilla, and I can't say I disagree. Most days, you hear the word "Godzilla," and Hesei Goji comes to mind, especially his look in Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla, AKA "MogeGoji," with his enormous size, expressive eyes, two rows of teeth, and bulging muscles. My only two drawbacks is that sometimes the shoulders are a bit to slim, and sometimes the legs seem a little too massive. It's not a deal breaker, mind you, but it can be distracting from time to time. Still, the Heisei era does have, arguably, the most consistent and recognizable design, and it's definitely makes the top 2.
I have thought about it the entire time I was making this list, and I think I can safely say that Godzilla's design in Godzilla: Final Wars is my personal favorite. The red eyes, the teeth, the longer ears, the slim yet powerful build, it all works. Is he as powerful-looking as Heisei Goji? Not really. Is he as imposing as Monsterverse Goji? No. But something about this design strikes a near-perfect balance for me. Not only that, but Godzilla's personality in this film is great. Godzilla feels like a battle-hardened rΕnin warrior with a chip on his shoulder. And now that I think about it, this Goji might be the most powerful. He goes through the whole movie beating the other kaiju left and right without even breaking a sweat. He's unstoppable. If they made a whole film series with Final Goji and all the other monsters in Final Wars, I would absolutely LOVE it. So yeah, after a lot of thinking, Final Wars Godzilla is my favorite Godzilla.
(Kinda insane but possible)
So, a rumor is going around that Salunga (The Gabara/Baragon-like monster) is going to evolve and his final form has resemblense to Bagan.
Bagan is a kaiju cut from Godzilla 1984, that then was intended to appear in other movies like Rebirth of Mothra, but was cut again. He was then utilized as the Final Boss for the Super Godzilla game.
Now here is the theory:
Salunga doesn't look like Bagan at all, so how could this even be real? I have a theory for that!
You see, Bagan's original concept concisted of various creatures merging to form a final form, similar to Destoroyah (In fact, Bagan was suposed to be the final villain in Godzilla vs Destoroyah). One of these forms, the Spirit God Beast Form, has a bizarre resemblense to Salunga.

Salunga Concept Art:
You must be asking: But why would he look like this specific form and not the other ones?
The main reason i think he would look like this one, is because of the origin of his name.
Salunga (Sharanga) is the name of a bow of an Indian God. He also comes from the giant temple showed in episode 11, that has a cave that leads to the Singular Point, that is located in India. If Salunga's concept comes from an Indian God, why not have this as well for his second/final form? The indian god Ganesha has an elephant head and humanoid body, much like Bagan's spirit form. It would be a nice reference and convenient if they made Salunga's final form look like Bagan's spirit god beast form, it would be a reference to Salunga's origins and a reference to a Toho monster at the same time (They love references to Toho monsters). It's just too convinient for them. It would also explain the rumor of the form resembling Bagan.
Well that's the theory basically. I could be completely wrong about this and Salunga not even appearing on episode 12 or 13, but that is what it is, a theory.

Peak Cinema right here.
Kaiju-Eiga International Resurgence (2013 - Present)
A period during which the production of new, high-profile, studio-led kaiju features reaches an unprecedented high for the first time since the 1960s, with the genre encompassing non-Japanese films and taking on a much broader international definition. The genreβs influenceΒ is recognised and acknowledged more commonly in the Western world, and the termΒ βkaijuβ finally enters the general vernacular worldwide.
