Had the idea that Splinter needed to wean Leo off needing Donnie to sleep cuz lil Donnie started needing his own space, but it was a struggle. Til Splinter discovered the secret dough rolling technique and on occasion adult Leo will wrap himself in a ball as a self-comforting method when he’s missing his family most.

Alright so softshell turtles right. They funky. It’s a lot more obvious that their shells are part of their ribs, as you can actually see the faint outline of their fused vertebrae and ribs on their shells. The reason their shells are so soft is because the edges and much of the lower half of their shell is actually all just cartilage and skin. Their plastron are weird, because the bone plates are largely separate and pointy, held together by harder cartilage the same way human ribs are attached around the sternum.

Donnie was weird to figure out on account of the cartilage lower half of his softshell, but I tried to compromise with his lower back vertebrae being unfused to still allow for the higher mobility required for his waist. Another fun fact about softshell is that they don’t actually have scutes or scales, but because of the look of his plastron and consistency with his brothers in the show, I’m just going to pretend that Draxum mixed in some DNA to let him grow scales for extra protection even if he has less coverage than his brothers. He can “breathe” water by absorbing oxygen through the skin of his throat, not actually by inhaling it. While most turtles can do this to a point, soft shells can stay quite active while doing so.

Personally I like to think of Donnie’s softshell as both a weakness and a strength depending on the situation! While more vulnerable, his skin can heal faster than scutes, and if he sustains blunt damage to his shell he can more easily disperse the force of it because of the give to his cartilage, rather than have the force crack his shell and cause a much more traumatic injury. Kind of like how seatbelts have some give to them to ease into a stop instead of giving someone whiplash.

Third week entry for @tmntfashioncompetition! The theme is “Heroes and Villains” so this time TC Foot Captain is cosplaying Doc Ock. The outfit is inspired from spiderverse but I love the claws design from the movie so I combined them.

Going against @tangledinink this time so wish us luck!

I've been wanting to redesign Sandwings since I watched Dune part two, that movie got me obsessed with Sandwings and I decided to draw them for a school project.

anatomy- sandwings are quite short compared to other tribes. they have flat bodies covered in spikes similar to thorny devils. they have large barbed tails, the stinger is strong enough to break through bone. Sandwings wings have large feather like structures that can join and separate at will, once separated they will create a rattling sound, sandwings will often rattle their wings as a sign of anger or fear.

unlike other tribes sandwings have partial hairs on their bodies. these are most notable in hatchlings who are covered head to tail in dark micro hairs which are used to protect parasites from digging under their scales. they also have whiskers which can detect changes in weather.

Dagon Drones

This was my addition to a magma board by @/natzarama on twitter! had the theme of fantasy so i finally pulled out an AU I have been sitting on :]

AU ramble:

Uzi always wanted to be a knight. she made her own sword, being the daughter of a blacksmith. The same blacksmith who build the gates keeping there town safe.

In order to enchant her sword, to gain the power to slay the 3 dragons who have been plaguing her village, she must venture into there layer and find a green gem. As she does she finally ‘kills’ her first dragon N. Although this dragon doesn't stay died Uzi befriends it.

Over time Uzi builds her own armor yet a curse befalls her. One day when going out with an adventure party her body starts to shift. this unknown curse turning her into a dragon herself! ( aka cabin fever episode)

That's kinda what i loosely have for now :] I've been to busy working on the reverse au and writing my human au, so this lil dragon drones au just kinda fell to the wayside.

So I was inspired while rewatching TMNT ‘03…

Thought I’d give a try at doing my own take on a mutant turtle design, combining the elements of each iteration that I’ve seen with some more animalistic turtle traits. Hope they look alright! The turtles themselves are the 2003 ones, I always thought it was a little odd they had no bridge on their shells. I did keep the three fingered hand in later sketches tho!

Poor 2003 Leo. Guy can never catch a break.
