I'm alive I promise his name is Rowan
He was raised to fight, and doesn't know much apart from that and how to use a computer. But even that's lost on him, as he still refuses to cooperate with the things.
What's this? More PALACE!
+ some doodles
^ expressions!

Character concept cooking up
Too many text posts. Character I made for a prompt challenge GOπ£
The prompt was "exhausted diety" (or was it just tired? You get the idea)
My current goal with my artstyle is to get more cartoony and stylized with my characters...
More about all this below!
For a while I had been strictly staying to attempts at realistic stuff. Not full-on realism, but as good as I could get it.
It was fun, but hard to do, and I was always struggling with some feature. And I never really let myself do cartoony stuff because I had this mindset that if I started doing that, I'd "lose my progress" on all the realistic skill.
Then for art class we had a unit on cartoon characters. It put me out of my comfort zone, but I was actually having WAY more fun with these characters and CONSTANTLY creating these little cartoon designs where I could, like, instantly TELL exactly who they were.
Not to say realism is boring, not at all, just that I think it's important to find which style is, personally, the most enjoyable to draw with. And as someone who is really into expressiveness and character design, I think something more stylized and exaggerated will be a good direction for me. It's already proven to be something I thoroughly enjoy...
Character concept cooking up
Haven't posted in a lil but um. Here's Palace (cube guy) and his wife. Getting ready for a party then... then sleepy hugs/cuddles after the party yeah
Here, have Tone getting tossed around by this guy's speech bubbles.
Idk what to say here. Bro has big ass lore and I'm just putting him in his wife's shirts
The voices... they're telling me to redraw my OCs from 2021 (og on left, redraw on right)
This one might be a keeper. Liking the design. Which means I need a name for them. Which I struggle with....
Sorry for the rants lately. I don't wanna be too serious. Here's some Jared and his buddy
Excuse my handwriting; the speech says "He fell asleep β again."
DO NOT USE AI GENERATED "ART." Commission a real artist.
"But I don't have money"
Then draw it.
"But I can't draw"
Then learn.
"I don't want to take the time to learn/I want it now"
THEN YOU DON'T GET WHAT YOU WANT. Or you can at least settle with a poor-looking result if you draw it now. Hell, at least use some character creator/dress-up game like those picrew things or those Gacha games β you know, SUPPORTING ACTUAL ARTIST'S WORK!
You aren't entitled to see all the pretty looking images when you want, how you want, and for free.
Get it for free, and you either don't get it as good as you want or as fast as you want β you either settle with the fact your own drawing won't look how you want it, or take the time to learn. (unless you're lucky enough to find someone doing commissions for free. But that's still better than AI.)
Get it fast, and it either won't be good, or won't be free.
Get it good, and it either won't be quick, or won't be free.
This post should also apply to other forms of media (written works, music). But as someone who draws, this is the most relevant to me.
Okay. Okay update time on this. Some things. Heads up this is just kind of me rambling/noting down my current thoughts about what I want to do
(Rambles below the thingy)
I've been thinking, and yeah, I really want to do something with that story. That world/story I'm talking about in the og post is.... something! It's the backstory of a silly self-insert-oc of mine, and is not only extremely self-indulgent, but there's probably more missing and contradictory details than there is ACTUAL plotπ¬
The thing is, however, I hold that batch of characters very dear to me as I've had some of them since, like... late 2021, I'd say? And some of the main story concepts have also been around that long and longer. Because of this, I'm not only DESPERATE to share these guys with the world, but... also too attached to them and their stories to change around the canon a bunch.
What I plan on doing at some point is having two versions of the story that are essentially the same as fandoms making "AU"s. I'll have the revised version with a proper story that I can make into some sort of webcomic or whatever I want, and I'll keep the OG, inconsistent, poorly-written self-insert version as my own personal "AU" that I can have to just be silly with.
My god. I have this one world/story I wanna make a webcomic about so much but the timeline is SO BAD like it's not even funny. Way too many missing details in the worldbuilding and plot holes and contradictory stuff... agrrhgg
This is why I started making flow charts for my plots. It helps me realize everything I messed up. Me consulting my flowchart to make sure my story is coherent
I should get to sleep eugh it's so late but er anyway here's an old man I dislike incredibly
Initials r A.H ofc, the full name is poorly scribbled as I'm not sure whether to change it...
Me after writing a book about why I hate birds because they have wings /lore reference
I need to stop procrastinating I have a whole storyboard sitting around that I'm just.... not making a final version of.... Geo stay dedicated to your art projects challenge GO (impossible difficulty)
Here, have sad old men
"Kalenne" (first) and "Maizze" (second)
Prepare for a rant on art, my friends. This is something that's been annoying me (tldr at bottom, which probably describes what I mean better than the main rant)
For a moment I'd like to forget about the idea that art is subjective: let's say there is a foolproof way to factually define whether a piece of art is "good" or "bad," high quality or low quality, appealing or unappealing. Let's pretend art is objective.
That... doesn't change much. Not about my argument, anyway.
All the time, I see people getting upset β almost personally offended, even β just by the fact that someone is, apparently, bad at drawing. And then I see people respond to that with the fact that it's just their style. I don't disagree that the quality of art is subjective, that people can have their own styles, but people seem to cling to the idea like it's the only defense they have for their art being "bad." Even people who believe in the subjectivity of art will rush to defend themselves, to insist that their art cannot factually be bad, like that's the most heinous thing possible.
Tell me, though: what exactly IS the problem with an artist being "bad" at drawing? Who does it hurt? Who does it, at the very least, disrespect?
Don't get me wrong: giving tips and criticism and helping people can be great (if done supportively and respectfully of course, without belittling) β it can be a great journey to improve one's art, and I don't want to downplay that β but someone may not actually WANT to improve on a technical level. Maybe they only want to make art that's appealing to themselves, and maybe they don't need to know the fundamentals or anatomy or colour theory or character design to be able to entertain themselves, to have fun with it. Maybe they're just doodling because they like to doodle. Y'know?
I don't know how this post will come off. Maybe someone will think it means not to give criticism, maybe someone will think I'm just repeating the idea that art is subjective, but what I really mean with this is:
(TLDR aswell): We shouldn't act as if someone's a bad person because they can't draw. If you don't like how someone's art looks, if it's unrealistic and messy and there's poor colour theory and shitty anatomy, and they clearly aren't doing anything to improve it.... just move on. Yes, it's just their style. No, that doesn't mean they're "good" at it. No, they don't need to be good at it in the first place.
Shaded version! And a couple revamped colours. PS. I really enjoy re-using other parts of the palette to do the shading....
Some more info, too β his name is Palace and he's a detective/investigator type guy running around doing crazy stuff with his wife and new best friend.
Cube guy.... music/band teacher helped figuring out this guy's colours.
I apologize if the whole LIMBS thing is hard to visually understand..

Buttload of Tone doodles from today... and a mother figure
+ "This is what happens when you only have experience with non-living electronics"
And also what they probably did when he got his screen working after that (as it was broken before)
MY BOY
There he is....
Eurgh she needs a name
Also. Why do I always draw clock heads with the 3:00 configuration
Why is is that whenever I try to make another TV-head character I struggle with the design more then any other ocs
More character concept
Will probably make the shirt colour more saturated + make the purple darker.
This is part of a group of characters I'm making for a webcomic idea I might make at some point! Though it will require more planning and probably better dedication skills than I currently have.
