Okay , I get that a lot of people are mad at Aemond for what he said about Alicent, and on the other hand, a lot of people are acting as if Alicent raised a monster in Aemond, and that Aemond’s mindset toward Alicent is rooted in misogyny, because apparently people have convinced themselves that he sees women as ‘less than human’ and his mother is also impacted by that.
So no, that’s not the case. Aemond calling Alicent a fool for her empathy toward Rhaenyra is due to the fact that, the Blacks would never have this type of love, empathy or hesitation toward the Greens, and from childhood he has been tormented by Viserys and the Blacks. I was close to saying that Alicent planted this idea in his mind that the Blacks were his enemies since childhood, so of course, her going back on what she had taught him is angering to him.
The reality however is, Alicent didn’t do that. She didn’t really have to. Aemond lived a life growing up where he knew he was second to Rhaenyra and her children in every way, and where he knew his father did not have the same love and empathy for them as he did Rhaenyra and the strong kids. They bullied Aemond, took out his eye, and his father did nothing but threatened to have he and his mother (and brothers) punished/tortured for speaking up.
This war is about the throne as much as it is about getting back at, in Aemond’s mind, his abusers, his tormentors, the people who hurt him. He NEVER had the power to do that growing up, he knew early on that Rhaenyra and her family were granted a sort of protection that he wasn’t, that his mother wasn’t. He had to watch his mother, who was a victim of abuse and grooming, navigate in a world where all they had was each other.
He doesn’t see Rhaenyra as a sister. He sees her as an extension of her son’s who bullied him, who caused him to lose an eye. He sees them as an extension of his father who neglected him, who raped his mother so he could be born, yet treated him like he was invisible and did nothing to gain justice for his missing eye.
So why would he love Rhaenyra? Rhaenyra is Viserys in his mind, and Viserys abused his mother, that family tormented him since he was a child….so yes, of course Alicent is a fool to him for having empathy for the people who abused and tormented them.
And if this AFTER Blood and Cheese--it adds insult to the wound. His nephew was killed, his niece was threatened with rape, his sister has lost her mind because of it...so why would he feel empathy for Rhaenyra, whom he probably blames for B&C?
Since I have a lot more time on my hands now until I can find another way to make money, perhaps even find a way to follow my dream of monetizing my writing, I can get back to publishing storys on here.
While I haven't been updating on here it's not because I stopped writing but mostly because I had redirected what little creative flow I had (after the trainwreck that was season 2) into writing scripts for my own version of House of the Dragon / Fire and Blood shows.
I currently do not plan to release those, at least not until S3 is out, but I have regained more motivation for writing so I'm back starting today.
I'll be releasing my teased one-shot "Broken Bonds | Maelor x f!highborn!reader x Aemond x Aegon" that I had teased A LONG time ago here tomorrow.
Don't hate me for the long wait please. Its just the first (and so far only) type of story that I have written like that. The latter half of it hits a sore spot in me and I struggle to continue writing and editing when I'm crying lol. That's why I usually just write horny storys or some drama.
But this story is one that I do want to share with others so I am now pushing myselt to stop re-editing it time and time again in an attempt to get it "perfect" and just post it. It will be the first thing to go online after I've finished editing and will be followed either by new Chapters of Mother's Madness or a new story called Redemotion (Maegor x f!noble!reader).
See you soon. Love y'all <3
Lol, Rhaenra saying "the horrors I have just loosened cannot be for a crown alone" is the definitive proof that HOTD is NOT an adaptation of Fire & Blood. It's just a published fanfic.
This is not even a case of the show writers changing some major things and having different interpretations of the source material. No. They have literally invented a whole new story.
The ENTIRE point of Fire & Blood was about two royal brats willing to unleash horrors upon the smallfolk to win the Iron Throne. Yes, part of it was about a woman being denied power because she's a woman, but ultimately she is still an entitled, arrogant royal who is willing to let thousands of innocent people suffer just to get back what's hers.
Fire & Blood is an anti-war and anti-monarchy story. But now it's a story about a good, righteous queen who was unfairly betrayed and is forced to go to war to save the realm from itself and boohoo she's gonna get unfairly betrayed by the smallfolk too!!! 😃😃😃
The story went from "royals from both genders will sacrifice the smallfolk for their own benefit" to "a good female royal will sacrifice herself to save the stupid and ungrateful smallfolk who don't deserve her" 🫠🫠🫠
I bet GRRM is shaking his head and gritting his teeth now.
actually since condal&co insist so much on calling f&b "team green propaganda done by evil maesters", that ppl actually repeat this bullshit, then i'm gonna start calling hotd "an awfully written team black propaganda done by bunch of dimwitted egomaniacs"
Summary: Betrothed to Prince Aemond before the war and having fallen in love with the one-eyed prince, the young lady Celtigar’s heart would shatter into pieces as she learns of his betrayal in taking a mistress and siring a bastard with her while away at war.
Unable to cope with being forced to marry him anyway, she chooses to run away, using the chaos of war to disappear forever, or so she thought.
When fate sends her into the town of Bitterbridge one day, she finds herself caught up in the chaos of a giant riot, sheer terror overwhelming her when she spots a familiar toddler screaming amongst the greedy crowd.
Barely escaping the scuffle alive, she takes the boy in as hers, living as mother and son ever since.
The duo grows inseparable until a decade later, when an unfortunate coincidence would result in the two torn apart forever.

"[aegon and aemond] need each other in their own way. they have a weird love for each other. both of them would stab each other in the back just for self-gain"

jaehaera important, maelor important, jaehaerys important, helaena beloved by the smallfolk, aegon the father, all confirmed by the writer himself on aegon’s birthday
having one faction being written as only heroic and awesome and the other being written as only villainous and awful negates the original message of grrm’s original work, btw. it’s kind of interesting to see how these characters are written (the greens being a dysfunctional family who don’t seem to like each other vs the blacks being given positive traits that belong to the greens in the books, or simply not writing things if the source material that could make the blacks seem not heroic) and how fans take this very seriously. it’s partly a result of the marketing strategy for season two, the whole “everyone much choose a side thing” because that’s… not the point of this war, at all. but it’s also the writing and it’s very deliberately very obviously pro targaryen, especially with the whole “aegon conquered westeros for the good of the world” thing they have going on. which is an incredibly strange take. i think it’s really telling when you compare how the tragedies are written. rhaenyra’s loss of her children is obviously and rightfully tragic. her journey in episode one of season two was so tragic and so beautiful because you don’t hear her speak until the end of the episode, when she finally realizes her son is gone. but you also have her riding a dragon immediately after giving birth to her stillborn daughter, who is never mentioned again, if i recall correctly, and that doesn’t seem… possible. but with the greens, you have a very horrific and traumatic event via the brutal murder of jaehaerys being reduced to two silly men committing a crime, when that crime was the beheading of, like, a five year old. you then have his grandmother having sex while this is happening, in an attempt to blame her for it, which is genuinely so infuriating. idk why i made this post, i saw that season two wasn’t even nominated for best television drama and i was just like. yeah i know that’s right. you cannot expect an show adaptation of a very well-known series from a very well-known author to do well when you completely ignore the original source material and then claim your interpretation is better or the truth. it’s simply insisting on itself and it’s simply pissing on the tragedy of the dance of the dragons and it’s simply exhausting.
Book!Helaena that was so lost into the madness of grief because of her child's death to the point she unalived herself.
VS
Show!Helaena helping the very person who orchestrated the death of her child.
