I just remembered! (Thank you, historical fantasy section!) But like? Serving and protecting The King, especially a HIGH KING, is quite literally not just an incredible honor... but it can sometimes be a person's Life Ambition?

Specificly a WORTHY king.

Perhaps they were denied in life. Perhaps they FAILED. And in their dying moments struggle with all they were to LIVE. To PROTECT. Perhaps the PREVIOUS king was a great and worthy ruler... but their heir is...

Unworthy.

Maybe they are born to an age without Rulers. Power shifting between hands in hidden halls. Unclear and murky. All they want is for their loyalty to MEAN something. For things to be SIMPLE.

The universe is large. The Infinite Realms? Unimaginably larger.

And Pariah Dark was a BASTARD.

Who would willingly swear to him? Fools! That's who! Every warrior soul worth ANYTHING gets as far AWAY from his Realm forsaken resting place as they can. Hides. Lest they be dragged in to his infernal, gods forsaken, cess pit of a so called "army"! *disgusted spitting noises*

But what does this mean? It means every trained FIGHTER... got the hell out of dodge. Oh, sure, a FEW refused. Like Pandora and her people. But most? The farthest side of NOWHERE, several layers down! Some still GOING! Better to be decried as cowards then have ANYTHING to do with THAT(said with loathing)!

It also means they weren't where Pariah could get to them when he woke. Couldn't help. Couldn't fight. Couldn't be commanded to kneel. Nothing. They removed themselves completely. Planned on CONTINUING to remove themselves. Preferably to the farthest reaches of forever, far beyond the bastard's gaze.

But! The whole REALM INFINITE felt it? When that... that hissing, acidic, malicious undertone? SLAMS back and away, like somebody's knocked a parasite from their backs. Replaced by coolness and starlight. Delicate balance and blood on your teeth. The pounding in your chest of HOPE.

It flutters so small across their backs, inside their chests. Washing away the old.

The King... feels tiny. Young.

.......what are they doing? Running like this. Hiding away like that will change anything. How long... when did...

There are so many of them now. A veritable army of souls, of all Ages and People's. Every armor and crest imaginable. They'd been so.. so REPULSED by Pariah... nothing else had mattered but to get AWAY. Where even ARE they? What YEAR is it? Does any of that matter?

The King.

Their Obsessions whisper. Loyalty. Service. Protection. Honor. You have left you post! Abandoned your DUTY! What are you DOING!?

They are AGHAST. They turn around at once. The King! How could they have ABANDONED the King!? Who is guarding him if they are all HERE?!

Himself!?

(Yes. Danny is fine. He is eating the "Thank You for keeping us all from dying to whatever the FUCK that was!" tamales Paulina's mom pushed into his arms on his way back home. He didn't even try arguing. He made eye contact and knew he would lose.)

It's UNACCEPTABLE. Unthinkable! The King? Unguarded? Where assassination attempts and nefarious PLOTS could occur?! What if someone tried to steal his eggs!? Or attacked him while his exoskeleton was molting!? They aren't entirely sure which species he is yet, but there are SO MANY NEFARIOUS PLOTS OUT THERE!!

*panicked honor guards*

Just? Imagine becoming king. And thinking "well, aside from the skeleton army I have to figure out, at least I don't have to manage anybody!" Only to *WABAM!* your ENTIRE GHOST COURT shows up like a week later. Turns out they were hiding from your predecessor.

You have a whole ass honor gaurd. Who REFUSE TO LEAVE YOUR SIDE. You have Chefs. Who WILL cry if you send them away. The Literal Best In The Multiverse are all following you around... YOU, a RANDOM TEENAGE, with Excited Shoujo Sparkles in their eyes... because you punched a jackass really, REALLY hard.

There is no way to make this stop. Your friends are laughing at you. The interior decorator wants you to look at swatches. What are swatches and why are you being harrased by them at 1am, you wonder? If you are Mean(tm) they throw themselves upon the floor and blame themselves for their Wicked, Evil, King-Upseting Ways and you can't even TELL if your being played here.

Your parents are too excited by all the New Research (at least the reveal went well?) To SAVE THEIR SON, and your sister is HELPING THE ENEMY (Traitor!), so now you're being bullied into eating vegetables and studying more.

Newborn Army Lives

Victoria and Riley picked people (mostly teenagers) that nobody would miss for their army. They all had been dealt a shitty hand in life. Is it me or is that extremely out of character for the Cullens to brutally murder a bunch of brainwashed kids? And the Volturi’s actions didn’t make any sense either.

Also, we’re never given an exact number but from what I counted on the wiki eighteen newborns were named in The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner so I just added another eighteen.

so…thirty-six bouncing baby vampires!

So here’s what I propose:

The Cullens don’t kill the newborns. They incapacitate them. Yes, there is still the epic battle and the newborns have been ripped apart (which is traumatic and the Cullens feel bad but it was necessary) but they’re not burned.

They don’t dismember Bree

She’ll be used as a witness

The Volturi swoop in and the Cullens present the bodies of Victoria and Riley

Jane interrogates/tortures Bree to get information

Learns that none of them knew anything about the laws

The fact that the newborns are in pieces and not ashes aren’t lost on the Volturi

Jane makes the comment about the Volturi not giving second chances

Which is bullshit because the newborns never even got their first chance

Jane agrees to allow the newborns to live. The caveat being that for one year starting on that battlefield the Cullens are responsible for the newborns

Meaning that if any one of them step one toe out of line they’ll rain down hell upon their heads

Jane didn’t do this out of the goodness of her own heart

She had orders

With Carlisle not only generally well-liked amongst vampires (he has quite a few powerful friends), he also has one of the most powerful vampires in existence in his coven

He was a threat but they couldn’t take him out directly

They half hoped the newborns would do it for them. It’s why they didn’t squash the newborns earlier

But they also knew that skilled vampires with experience will win against the newborns any day

They also, to some degree, know Carlisle and his bleeding heart

So they send Jane along with orders

If the Cullens killed all of the newborns, great! Their job has been done for them

If they spared - kill the spares.

It’ll send a message

If they spare more than five newborns, allow the spared ones to live. With the ultimatum of the Cullens being responsible for them as if they created them

Why?

Well it kills some birds with one stone

If the Cullens fail to control the newborns properly (which the Volturi are sure they will) then the decimation of the Cullens would look justified

They could also say that the Cullens knew what they were agreeing to and accepted the potential consequences

They could get rid of the threat and wouldn’t have to deal with the political implications and backlash of the Volturi killing the Cullens for either no legal reason or a flimsy one

The fact the Cullens spared all the newborns was both unexpected and delightful

Aro also wanted to see how it all played out

So he allows it

Breaking Dawn is the Cullens trying to wrangle the thirty-six feral newborns

Edward gives in and Bella is changed and joins the rest of the newborns in training

The Cullens move to the most remote place you can think of

but they still have a hard time controlling all of them (duh)

So they call their vampy friends and ask them to help them out with their pack of feral vampires

Jacob’s pack - Jacob, Seth, Leah, Embry, and Quil - are there too.

Cue vampire-werewolf solidarity

-Insert hundreds of headcanons about The Year of everyone trying to house train thirty-six buck wild baby vampires but this is already too long-

And The Year draws to an end and they did the impossible.

Some newborns are adopted into covens that helped “raise” them

Others go off by themselves and become solitary nomads 

Others form covens among themselves and leave

Some take up the vegetarian diet

others don’t 

During the year Bree Tanner and Diego (he’s alive), and Dean grow close to Rosalie and Emmet

the five create an entirely new coven

With Rosalie as the mother figure and Emmet as the father 

Renesmee’s name is instead Carlie (a nod towards the canonical name but less gross) and she’s a newborn that develops a close relationship with Edward 

They also adopt another newborn, Mason 

Essentially Bella, Edward, Mason, and Carlie form a coven of their own and leave to start a new life 

Alice and Jasper also adopted a newborn, Heather, and go off on their own

Don’t feel too bad for Carlisle and Esme, having to say goodbye to their adopted children

They adopted four newborns

Warren, Logan, Daniella, and May

Plus their older children visit quite often 

Sometimes separately

Sometimes it’s a huge family reunion

Bella’s and Edward’s wedding happens at the very end when they’re all fairly certain she won’t massacre the human guests. Her supernatural beauty is passed off as god tier makeup and contacts 

Oh, and Jacob doesn’t imprint on a baby!

ALRIGHT! 👏🏽 A prompt. (Or, well. A premise.) I’m schtealing a lot of worldbuilding from @mediumsizedpidegon‘s post here so bear with me please.

The Bats, however they catch wind of Amity, catch wind of Amity Park. Of course they do. Amity Park has a very distinct presence— Or, well, a lack of a presence. It may have an abundance of documented weirdness online, from folk stories to abandoned livestreams to concerning details in expats’ online blogs.

But there is no online evidence of Amity Park that leaves Amity Park.

So. What is a family of detectives to do when confronted with the need to gather physical evidence? Road Trip, baby!🏄🏽‍♂️🚗🚞🚡

Everyone hops in the car/Batplane and makes their way to Amity Park; they make hotel reservations, ring up the only reasonably rich enough people to even touch their social circle (the Manson family, and Vlad Masters, apparently), make an itinerary for all the documented tourist stops to hit up while in town off the town website, and prepare themselves for whatever dimensional weirdness is causing a complete tech blackout on the town and an inability to be found by satellite.

They get about ten feet into Amity proper when they meet the first local.

His name is Danny. He’s nice! Affable. He looks a lot like any other Wayne sibling, actually, if a little on the younger side. He notices it’s their first time in town. Do they need any help getting around?

I read a post once that said there's a theory that maybe we ARE alone in the universe simply because the universe is so young. We might be the first ones! And what if that were true?

What if we become The Old Ones. What if we send ourselves far out into the universe? What if different species evolve from us? And what if we leave not because we destroyed our own world, but because our curiosity drove us to go as far as possible.

How many generations until Earth becomes a legend? How many species have legends of a world almost destroyed, until the poorest of the Old Ones banded together to save it from the greed of the rich overlords? How many people nesting in the stars would take the story of our planet's near destruction and use it to guide their way of life into something better than what we have now?

Imagine, space stations full of humanoid descendants of ourselves, all taught from wee infancy to serve the greater good, to have hope in even the most dire circumstances, because the Old Ones never gave up, so neither should their descendants.

Humans are space orcs is a fun concept but I think the defining thing about humanity isn't our brutality, but rather, our capacity for hope.

   In relation to dragons, especially those posts about their monocular vision, I’d like to pitch a fantasy concept here-  

  The usual view of dragon riders is that the riders get a lot out of it and dragons, eh, dragons get something. Something intangible and ill defined and usually not a good enough reason to really justify it.

  But what about dragons that bond with humans because humans offer a massive tactical advantage.

   Okay, say you’re some scrawny fucking dragon. And like, you’re not doing bad for yourself- 40 feet of well armored fire breathing death does pretty decently by definition- but in the pecking order of dragons, you’re pretty low. You get your ass kicked if you try to challenge any big players.

  And then one day you come upon this human- this weird fucker out in the middle of the woods yelling nonsense and you’re fine to move along but all of a sudden there’s a huge pull on the natural energy around you and you get whacked with this surge of light-

  And you’ve mind melded with the fucker.

 You’re both trying to figure out what’s going on, and all of a sudden, of course, rolls in a bigger dragon who’s going to beat the shit out of you for being in their territory.

  So you’re trying to fly away, this human is clinging to you like their life depends on it, this bigger dragon is trying to kill you. It’s a bad day. But the human scrambles up on top of you and you realize, hey, for some reason you can see out of their eyes. You’ve got near 360 degree monocular vision (which you’re used to) but now like 100 degrees of super sharp depth perception on top of that. Which is actually letting you dodge a lot better. And you’re thinking faster- you can hear- feel?- the humans thoughts, and they’re pretty fast and smart thinkers too.

   So you’re actually, now, suddenly turning the tables on this fight. The other dragon is bigger but now that’s working against them because your increased vision and reaction time lend themselves to speed. And then there’s this huge fucking pull on your energy, like massive- and a fucking lightning bolt shoots out and whacks the other dragon out of the sky. Like, oh, dragon-jesus, that’s what humans can do with magic?

   So all of a sudden, you have this tiny squishy meatbag that’s transformed you from bottom of the pecking order to Top Dragon In Town because you have better vision and reflexes and you can use them as a locus for precise magical spells by mind melding with this tiny punk.

   So of course you sit down and figure out how the fuck you melded in the first place and do it again. And dragon society is transformed, because now it favors the most social dragons, the ones able to mind-meld with humans the best. Because those ones get massive tactical advantages. So having human riders makes actual fucking sense. It’s basically a matter of survival.   

DP x DC prompt - Kids Need Enrichment, So Do Ghosts

So this can work as either a DP prompt or a DPxDC prompt but seeing as I’ve been on a DPxDC binge, I will be tagging it as DPxDC

Danny’s universe is losing connection to the Infinite Realms (or is destroyed) or maybe he’s on the run or whatever. Anyway he ends up creating a Haunt in the next place that is most connected to the realms (which is probably Gotham) and ends up being a teacher or part of a volunteer outreach group.

Anyway he ends up in the more crime ridden parts of the city and notices that there are children who are seriously missing enrichment activities. So deciding to kill two birds with one stone he decides to set a sort of community service program for his rogues and a recreation center for the children.

Ember teaches music

Skulker is like a boy scouts troop leader or whatever

Ghost Writer teaches English/Literature or Writing Workshops

Lunch Lady provides snacks and has a Home Ec class

Box Ghost helps oversee donations and makes sure the more unsavory criminals stay away from messing with them

Johnny 13 maybe has a workshop class

Yet another DP AU this time Dad Pariah mainly just AU of Reign Storm where when Danny tires to attack Pariah instead of attacking him Pariah is like ‘Whose child is this? I am not killing a literally ghost infant’

Danny is offended and keeps trying to attack Pariah who is just holding him by the scruff of his neck like ‘Where are your parents?’ and then sees Jack and Maddie with literally house full of ghost hunting weapons and is like ‘NOPE! Not happening’

Pariah: ATTENTION DOES THIS CHILD HAVE ANY GHOST PARENTS?

Vlad*Raising arm enthusiastically*

Danny:FUCK NO

Pariah:…Yeah no

Vlad*lowering arm crushing under his breath*

Ends up putting conquest on hold to go see his husband like ‘Hey so we have a kid now can you watch him while I go conquer the human world’…he also brought flowers as a ‘Sorry I kind of went crazy and tried to kill you… and missed multiple anniversaries stuck in a sarcophagus’…there are a lot of flowers.

Clockwork is just there like…. well didn’t see this timeline coming but i’m not complaining, thank you dear I’ll watch Daniel please try not to get shoved into sarcophagus again and be back in time for dinner.

Danny is just sitting there with a hot chocolate Clockwork gave him no idea what the fuck is going on.

Bonus Pariah:I am not trying to kill a literal ghost infant who the fuck would do that

an AU where everything’s the same except Tony gets chosen by a very powerful relic.

1. Ok, I don’t know which form could the relic have, though I’m imagining something which could wrap itself around Tony because he’s smoll and must be protected. One night Tony’s at the Sanctum waiting for Stephen and Wong to be back from some interdimensional diplomatic mission, and he falls asleep on the couch. Since he started to date Stephen, Tony has sort of developed a healthy sleep pattern, though is still extremely anxious about sleeping in an empty bed. Fact is: Stephen and Wong recovered a very powerful relic and brought it to the Sanctum, and the moment it sees Tony, decides it must protect this wonderful human, so it straight wraps around him like a blanket;

2. Wong is the first to step out of the portal, and he just stares blankly at the scene in front of him because he can’t believe to his eyes. The relic had never shown to be interested in finding a master, according to all the records he and Stephen could collect about it, and now, after a couple of days in the Sanctum, it decided to get attached to someone who’s not even a Sorcerer. If he was surprised when the Cloak chose Strange, now he’s questioning everything he knows about magic;

3. The Cloak, well, it’s extremely jealous of Tony’s relic, but they both agree that Tony can’t be left alone around Rogers and that’s frankly exhausting for all the people involved. Tony knows he will never get along with Steve any longer, but they are on speaking terms and Stephen already lectured the Cloak about not being a jerk with the Captain. He thought it got the message, now he has to do it all over again with two relics;

4. Tony is sure his relic is mad. How can something which always proved to be distant and cold toward humankind decide that he’s worthy of its attention and protection? Stephen tells him that he went through pretty much the same doubts when the Cloak chose him. This sorts of help Tony;

5. Wong tries to convince Tony to learn basic magic because the choice of the relic can indicate that it sees potential in Tony, but it doesn’t work because, despite dating Stephen and knowing that not all magic is bad, he’s still not confident about it and doesn’t want to be closer to it that is necessary;

6. At first, Tony is frightened as fuck to bring his relic on the field. Seriously, he doesn’t want to rip it or something because it’ll be to prove that he’s not worthy, though the relic itself has its own opinion about that. Stephen laughs his ass off when Tony tells him that. Basically, Tony threats the relic as if it’s his child and Stephen finds this too cute.

Hero EMT/Field Medic Danny Au

Like maybe due to all his scraps and bumps as Phantom, Danny ends up getting EMT and Field Medic training or starts studying to be one. Cause hey this will be helpful later he just knows it. Plus he could go into medical engineering (or what ever the field is called that invents medical devices) with hi Fenton Mad Scientist smarts and hyoerfocusing on healing others instead of hunting Ghosts.

A few decades or centuries down the line, Danny is now ghost king and retired from Phantom. His advisors believe he needs a vacation. And ooh look what Clockwork found- a universe with heroes. So off he goes to DC universe.

Except, his core is demanding he help some way..but there are so many heroes. Perhaps instead of being a hero, he could help the heroes.

Que Danny slapping on domino mask, tying his hair back, grabbing his old modified Fenton field medic uniform and the Patented Fenton Medical Bag (which is like the Mary Poppins bag but for medical supplies). And h doesn't even bother going Ghost. He can use his powers in human form but he does so sparingly- like lifting a building off a trapped hero or civilian, icing a wound to stop the bleeding until h can get them some where safe and duplicating himself to help in disaster relief. Suddenly there are reports of a mysterious masked meta field medic showing up at big villain battles or the aftermath of another invasion and running disaster relief and helping civilian and hero alike. Many young heroes tell their mentors of a masked medic who helped patch them up. So on ad so forth.
