Thank you for the tag! I am curious about “Burn the witch” and I think I remember the song that it might be referencing 👀
From: Ask me about my WIP Titles
Thank you for the ask Quails! And yesss, the song reference for this one is Burn the Witch by PVRIS! Not a literal one to one, but def the vibes and some of the lyrics give major Diana when she's not fucking around anymore.
I don't have a lot written down on this one yet so idk if I have much to share via a direct snippet, but the outline and certain scenes live very vividly in my head (listening to that song and I reread The Crucible last fall for some inspo).
Also this one is actually going to be told from Lyra the Lunari's perspective! Kind of like a sideline reporter of the action. It takes place before the More to Burn story when Leona fights Diana for the first time in 10 years, so this is right when Diana returns to Targon.
The general premise is Lyra is living in hiding in a Solari village with her boyfriend from the Vaulted Road cinematic, working as a spy for the Lunari. The Solari Burning Ones have been growing more radical and taking center stage in public. Someone (cough cough Diana), has been nailing written documents, a la Martin Luther style thesis, all over town challenging the Solari doctrines and behavior, and so the Solari show up to find the culprit. They _say_ they have the person responsible in custody, and gather everyone in the center of the village for a public execution by fire that evening, but a dark hooded figure who approaches the pyre from the crowd might have more to say on the matter.
(I'm sure it's a very reasonable and civil conversation...)
Anyway! I'm hoping to get to this one after I finish the Sunforger's Holiday. I don't think it's going to be too long a fic, but there's a lot set in motion from it in my story universe. Thanks again!
Jumping on the crow Miranda bandwagon. Can't get this image out of my head after reading @lepusrufus's posts.
