sometimes I’ll be complaining about something bc that’s my right as a chronically ill person, and my parents will chime in with a “you’re in your twenties, you’re too young to be complaining that your back/hips/knees/etc hurt(s)” and I’m like, Yeah??? No shit??? You were AT the doctor’s appointments with me, did you forget the chronic part of CHRONIC PAIN????
today I used the phrase "breasting boobily" in casual real life conversation and everyone was shocked asking how I came up with that and I had to explain it. ive been at the devil's sacrament so long that I forgot he wasn't god
(possibly) hot take: force sensitivity isn't a hereditary trait, nor should it really be. the skywalkers are the exception, not the norm. and they're only the exception because, you know, anakin's dad was literally the force. he was literally force jesus. he's literally half the force. i cannot emphasize enough how much he cannot be used as an example for normal force sensitivity
as much as i LOVE the storyboards and concept art of jayce having facial hexcorisation scars, i think the removal of it was justified from a narrative standpoint and even serves to make jayvik's ending all the more romantic
jayce falling into the ravine and being stuck there was all about stripping him of all his pride, ego, and possessions and humbling him so he can finally be selfish and do things for himself for once. he's beaten down to his very foundations and forced to reconsider what he truly values in his life and what's worth fighting for.
the facial hexcorisation scars would have added another layer of being forced to unlearn the instinct of caring about his outward appearance after being burdened by the duty of maintaining himself as the face of piltover, and would also mirror viktor's being loved despite his changing outward appearances that i love love love
however, i believe higher stakes were introduced with the removal of these scars. during the "you must go, jayce" scene, the audience is still put in a position to expect jayce could leave the rest up to viktor in favour of returning to a life in piltover and into the high position he already previously held. he'd be comfortable, he'd be celebrated, he'd be loved which was one of the aims and responsibilities of s1 mr. jayce people pleaser talis.
the implementation of the scars would have cemented the idea of "no going back" too clearly and would have made it possible to view "we finish this together" as a last resort choice, since it would have been more obvious that jayce is meant to have a doomed ending.
the truth is, jayce chooses to go with viktor in the end because it's viktor. it's literally canon. "all i want is my partner back."
it's not because there was no other choice, but rather despite the other options available to him that jayce ultimately sacrificed whatever good and comfortable life could have been waiting for him because what would it all be worth if it meant he had to give up viktor in exchange?
in every single timeline and in every single possibility, viktor chooses jayce. this we know. but it's thanks to the hesitation and uncertainty held over the audience that makes the ending of "jayce too, chooses viktor every time" all the more impactful and satisfying

Give me chronically fatigued Viktor.
Give me Viktor, falling asleep at his desk in the middle of the day because he’s been staring at those calculations for so long and his head is just too heavy to keep upright anymore, no matter how much sleep he gets.
Give me Viktor, leaving the lab early in the summers until Jayce builds him a personal AC unit, because the heat makes him drowsy.
Give me Viktor, falling asleep at a Council meeting, because it’s dark and he’s sitting and the voices around him have been droning on for hours. He startles when Jayce nudges him to leave. A succinct summary dictated by Mel appears in the lab the next day. (Viktor appreciates this, as it’s hard to focus on Jayce’s words when he’s so exhausted and he’s terrible at summarizing anyway)
Give me Viktor, nearly causing an explosion when his vision blurs/crosses while engineering, resulting in a stray spark. Jayce bans Viktor from operating machinery after 5pm, one of the only lab rules Viktor hates but won’t break.
Give me Viktor, frustrated at a problem for hours, only for Jayce to correct something he had made a mistake on due to brain fog.
Give me Viktor blaring music, drinking religious amounts of caffeine, and blasting his AC to near-freezing to keep himself somewhat alert.
Give me a Viktor who keeps oversleeping, showing up to the lab at noon because Jayce never has the heart to go and wake him when he clearly needs the rest. Viktor eventually moves in with Jayce because he can’t trust himself to wake up anymore, no matter how many alarms he sets. Plus, Jayce lives closer to the lab, and it’s an easier walk in terms of both pain and fatigue.
Give me Viktor leaning on Jayce at an event because there’s no place to sit and putting weight on his crutch relieves the pain in his leg, not the constant exhaustion pulling at his soul. Give me Jayce offering gentle support for that smallest bit of relief.
Give me a Viktor who’s not tired from long nights in the lab, but because of his illness.
yes yes we all see how jayce has to follow the steps of viktor's journey, to climb all the way up from the lowest bottom (zaun) to the highest top (piiltover) with a damaged leg...
but why is his leg damaged? it is not the fall down that leads to the fracture. no. it's his hammer.
jayce's leg is crushed by his own hammer. the same hammer he used as a weapon, betraying his and viktor's original hextech dream of progress, hope and prosperity, for zaun and piltover both. the same hammer he used to kill a zaunite child. the same hammer, the symbol of jayce's choice: confrontation over progress, council chamber over a science lab, everyone else's expectations over viktor, golden boy over partner. the same hammer, a promise broken.
it's the consequence of his own actions that damages jayce's leg.
his hammer - with everything it symbolizes - crushes him. so later we see jayce dismantle it to brace his leg.
jayce lets the past go with all it's mistakes, leaves it behind and climbs up, and then, and there, he gets a new hammer. a new promise. a new oath.
i understand now. my place was always here in the lab with you
Jayce's expression here drives me so goddamn insane
His eyes are soft, his mouth twisted in understanding. There's so much conveyed without any words.
This look says I know, it says I remember, it says this seems familiar, doesn't it?
It says You didn't think I was gonna let you go that easy, did you?
