The first episode that Alex comes back as ADA for SVU wrecks me. It’s like Alex is having an out of body experience the entire time. Everyone’s expecting her to be her old self, but she doesn’t know how. Every move she makes, someone’s there to remind her, “that’s not what Alex Cabot would do.” Then at the end, Liv tells her, “you really are back” and that must be so goddamn comforting for Alex to hear because this woman knows her. If Liv thinks she’s back, it must be true. She can finally feel like her old self again. She can finally breathe again.
