Y’all ever think about those first 16 days on the road, wading through mud and river sludge looking for proof that god is still on?
But either way I become a vessel - for your purposes or for theirs.
just finished the first three episodes of season two and I’m frothing at the mouth waiting for the rest of the episodes to come out
I’m going to draw sevika so many time you all are going to be sick of me
Idk if it’s just me but i really do find tumblr to be one of the most enjoyable places to post art. Like the engagement and ability to leave tags has always made me feel a lot more connected to the people interacting with my art. I love snooping through peoples tags and seeing how something i creates fits into their collections, or just how they feel about it in general. Idk, it’s just always been my favorite. Thanks to everyone who shares and enjoys my art, you guys are the coolest :)))

my handsewn trawlerman quilt!
some wip pics and thoughts under the cut
i had never done a quilt before so this was very exciting for me
i pieced together the entire figure of the trawler man (forgot to take photos of the head with him oops) and then appliquéd the background with part scrap fabric and part sacrificial old t-shirt
i wanted to portray the two sides of the trawlerman, with both a mouth that devours and one that returns, so i hand embroidered some bones (skull, humerus, rib) on one side and added some fish beads in the other. the intent was to show the relationship between death and life in a kind of gradient, but i don’t think it quite came across. i realized too late that it should have been only five beads instead of six, but oh well
i hand-quilted the symbols from the withermark into the coat of the trawler man with a orange-brown gradient thread and did his sort of aura with the same thread but cut and matched it so the light parts would be closest to him. the river was embroidered with some purple thread because i was tired of blue at that point

roakes sentinel has been on my mind for months now, im SO HAPPY to finally have it drawn out !!! prelim sketches + notes below the cut :]
i think it's pretty obvious, but this was very much informed by the dog thing from The Thing. Rob Bottin is a huge inspiration to me in terms of body horror
the crab and dogs arent based on any specific species or breed. that's the problem with dogs and crabs -- theyre so diverse, you can't draw them generic without making them look a little weird in one way or another. and then that means picking a specific species or breed, which invites speculation as to why, which means it has to be done with symbolism in mind, and sometimes i just wanna paint a big scary monster with nothing else to it, yknow?
the dogs are (in canon) embedded in the shell, which i forgot about when i was envisioning the sentinel to begin with. thank god for artistic license !! sorry jon ware my crab now
some gouache sketches inspired by the magnus archives
some sketches I did while listening to old gods of appalachia which is one of my favorite podcasts of all time
skimmed through annihilation again and was reminded of when the biologist stumbled around pissed off and drunk through the tide pools when she was feeling lonely during her research project. shes so funny
