KENNY: THE INBRED TIGER WITH “DOWN SYNDROME”
Pictures have been circulating the internet about a white tiger with down syndrome. Kenny’s diagnosis of down syndrome is questionable. But what is sure is that he was a victim of inbreeding. White tigers are rare and to ensure that the offspring would be a white tiger, Kenny’s parents were brother and sister. A lot of his siblings were stillborns or died very young.
But despite all this, breeders kept trying to mate Kenny’s parents. When parents are very closely related, there is a higher chance of both parents carrying the same “bad” gene. So there is a greater risk for their child to have a dominant bad gene.
Kenny lived to be 10 years old. Kenny was described as non-aggressive and very friendly.

DDO 68
DDO 68 is a dwarf galaxy located about 40 million light years away towards the constellation Leo. Though relatively close to the Milky Way, DDO 68 appears rather young. Since the light from other galaxies takes millions of years to reach us, we essentially looking at galaxies as they were millions of years ago. Usually, galaxies further away we see as younger, while closer galaxies appear more mature.
DDO 68′s structure and composition appear young, with mostly young stars and very little heavy metals, indicative of fewer generations of stars. However, astronomers think that its age may be an illusion, and there could be another explanation for its appearance. Further studies are examining the light from the galaxy in search of older stars, which would suggest the galaxy is older than it looks.
