It was 58 years ago today when with his famous phrase „поехали!” (”Let’s go!”) Yuri Alexeyevich Gagarin became the first human in Low Earth Orbit, reaching an altitude of 327 kilometres above the surface of the planet for 1 hour and 48 minutes. He and his misson, Vostok 1 had begun the new era of human space exploration, and it’s impacts have changed humanity to what we know today. С Днём Космонавтики! 🚀✨

Really stunning quality—the freckle’s on Ed’s hands and his red hair, Rog’s cowlick, Gus’ upside-down watch (as usual), the freckle on his cheek, and wow, he was going to be completely gray very soon, wasn’t he? Our beautiful boys.

Tbh, even if they aren’t as well-known as the Three Greats (Gagarin, Tereshkova and Leonov), the other Soviet cosmonauts were pretty cute too. Like, Yegorov, Bykovsky, Belyayev, heck, even Titov were all just so huggable-looking! And that’s just from the first original group.
