fifty years after the world’s radical takeover by an extremist group now known as the daughters of avalon, you awaken hooked up to a machine with fractured memories from a time that no longer exists.

the world you knew is gone and you are the power source for this new one.

you currently reside in the capital city governed by four sisters. they demand absolute obedience and dissenters are shown no mercy. it’s a dog-eat-dog world and no one is ever truly safe.

but that matters little to you now, all you know for certain is that you must escape. escape this machine, this facility, this city, this world. no matter the consequences.

< JINHAI | RO > someone you remember. you feel as though you know them, but they seem determined to keep you at arms length. the only thing you know for certain is that they’re willing to die to keep you safe.

< AZRIEL | RO > the latest and most elite synth model. they were sent to hunt you down and bring you back alive. they’re ruthless and cold, but obsessed doesn’t even begin to cover what they feel for you.

< MANSI | NON-RO > an older synth model and your first companion. she was thrown out by her previous owners for being outdated. you saved them and in turn they swore to protect you.

< PENN | NO-RO > a young but highly skilled hacker. xe seems rather attached to you and does everything xe can to help you. you haven’t figured out why.

< TARAJI | NON-RO > the youngest of the four sister who govern avalon. she claims she’s on your side, but can you really trust her?

When writing a character struggling with shame

Shame isn’t guilt. Guilt says I did something bad. Shame says I am something bad. It’s corrosive. It rewrites self-worth. And most of the time, it whispers, not screams.

✧ Start with silence. Characters carrying shame don’t confess it on page one. They avoid. They deflect. They joke. They become perfect. Shame thrives in secrets. Let it fester before it speaks.

✧ Show the disconnect. They don’t feel lovable, even when they are. Compliments bounce off them. Praise feels like a setup. They think kindness is a trick. Show them flinching at affection.

✧ Give it a backstory. Shame doesn’t appear from nowhere. Maybe they were told they were too much. Not enough. A mistake. Shame is always planted by someone else, then internalized. Find that origin moment and make it hurt.

✧ Let them sabotage good things. They get a healthy relationship? They run. They succeed? They downplay it. They get seen? They shut down. Shame convinces people they don’t deserve good things and they’ll act accordingly.

✧ Body language matters. Hunched shoulders. Arms crossed. Averted eyes. Shrinking into themselves. Shame has a physical posture. Write it.

✧ Watch their inner voice. Shame doesn’t sound like “I’m the worst.” It sounds like “Why would they care about me?”or “Of course I messed it up.” It’s casual. Constant. Cruel.

✧ Make healing slow and clumsy. Shame doesn’t vanish after one pep talk. It takes safe spaces. Relearning. A lot of awkward baby steps. Let your character accept one small good thing and then panic about it later.

✧ Let them rewrite their own story. Eventually, they’ll have to look at who they were and say, “Even then, I was trying. Even then, I deserved love.” Let them get there. Let it be earned. Let it feel impossible and then let it happen anyway.

obsessed with characters being saved against their will. being knocked unconscious and carried away from a danger they won't stop trying to fight. being shoved through a portal somewhere far away and safe right before it closes. trying to self-sacrifice only to have the exact person they're trying to save swap their places at the last second. getting the only cure to the disease or curse bc the person administering it loves them too much to give it to anyone else, including themselves. being thrown to safety right as they had accepted dying. someone else they thought had gotten to safety running back to drag them out of danger. it's so fucking tasty

In case you don't know me, I'm known in other places as Bl00dragon, though here I've taken the name of Nocifer. I'm a writer of interactive fiction, I work so far in Choicescript mostly on two works in progress which I intend to submit to Choice of Game for the Hosted Games label.

I've made this Tumblr account to post about my work and give some visibility for updates and sometimes silly or lore stuff.

I have two main works:

The Wight King: A story about a recently awakened undead warrior, stricken with the curse of the Wight King, risen weakened and without memories, they fight for their life as they strive to discover their purpose in this new world. Aided by an ally of circumstance on the road to the throne of the dead.

Hope to make the prologue and maybe chapter 1 of the demo out by the end of May? Once I can seriously sit down and bang out something.

But the overall story will be the prologue, and 7 chapters. Each chapter will take place over the course of a day, so the whole story is over the course of a week.
