đž DEMO TBDÂ
Contra Spem Spiro is a 18+ sci-fi, dystopian romance interactive fiction that follows the MC as you fight to survive an alien invasion and the repercussions of trying to live in a doomed society. This story is intended for mature audiences and will contain scenes of violence/gore, sexual themes, drug use, discussions of mental health, and explicit language. The game is a work in progress and is currently being written.
đž DESCRIPTIONÂ Â
Your story starts off like any other.Â
Your life was normal, until it wasnât. Two years after the invasion ravaged the Earth, youâre struggling to find purpose. The lonely life of struggle and survival is not for you. Youâd promised yourself that if there was ever a zombie apocalypse, or if climate change caused the planet to move towards uninhabitable, youâd end it. That was then. That was when hypotheticals existed. This is reality, and instead of dying, you lived against all odds and continue to do so.Â
Why? You donât know. You wake up fortunate to be alive. Everything between the sunrise and sunset is white noise. Insignificant.
Now, your normal shifts again. Now, youâre making a monthâs long journey with a group of strangers, their faces unfamiliar except for the exhaustion in their eyes.
They have a plan, and youâre along for the ride. After all, still water is an infested one. You learned that the hard way.
This is not a story of heroes and villains, or of good triumphing over evil. This is a story of people: the kinds worth living for, and the kinds you wish were dead. This story, your story, is one of survival.
đž FEATURES
Customize your MC! Play as male, female, or nonbinary. You can determine their appearance and personality, updating it (voluntarily and, uh, involuntarily)Â as the story progresses. Are they charming or intimidating? Do they use their fists to solve problems, or their keen mind and deductive reasoning? Can they talk their way out of trouble, or do they avoid it in the first place?Â
Become an asset to your group. The perfect team has balance. Choose your MCâs strengths and weaknesses; develop them as you see fit. Make decisions that change the lives of your found family, or sit on the sidelines and watch chaos unfold. Do you believe in fate, or will you change your future by force?
Engage in romance, or keep it purely platonic between 5 love interests, with one poly option available. Looking for quick hookups? We have two of those. And yes, you can romance an alien. I donât judge.
Survive. Easier said than done.
đž ROMANCE OPTIONS
For each of the romanceable characters, there will be options to increase flirtation, friendship, or antagonism.Â
⥠Ayana Tsosie/Adriel Tsosie
The Strong, Soft-Spoken Leader (F/M)
Ayana is 5â˛11. Adriel is 6â˛3.
Age: 29
Before the invasion, A pursued a career in medicine at the expense of leaving their family, members of the Navajo tribe. Compassionate, intelligent, tactical, and ambitious, you have no doubt that A is a natural born leader who would have thrived as a physician. Despite their warm, welcoming demeanor, A is reluctant to pursue close relationships for fear of it interfering with their sense of responsibility to the group. Help A relieve their burden by taking on a share of the authority, or encourage them to throw caution to the wind every once in a while.
âOptimism without realism is naivety. And that will get us killed. I canât let that happen.â
⥠Cecelia Quinn/Chase Quinn
The Go-With-The-Flow Girl/Boy Next Door (F/M)
Cecelia is 5â˛4. Chase is 5â˛10.
Age: 20
Always up for a laugh, C isnât interested in the doom and gloom. Their adulthood barely began before the invasion happened, meaning theyâre still clinging to what were supposed to be the âbest years of my life.â That doesnât mean they lack competence. C is damn good with technology, (and stick and poke tattoos!), able to rig up electricity seemingly from their back pocket. They take their friendships seriously, and will be the first to defend you when trouble comes knocking. Oh, and did I mention they used to work in a bakery? âFuck, I miss baked bread.â
*C is demisexual, so although MC can flirt with them from the beginning, it takes a high friendship for them to reciprocate any romantic/sexual feelings.
⥠Veronica Moiarty/Vincent Moiarty
The Insomniatic Anti-Hero (F/M)
Veronica is 5â˛9. Vincent is 6â˛0.
Age: 25
Even if V wanted to tell you about themselves, they couldnât. Having been attacked by an alien those short years ago, they woke up with no memory and a nasty scar on their arm. Others marveled at how they were able to survive such an injury, but V would say that death felt like the better option. Jaded, vengeful, and hot-headed, V isnât known for their kind words or sensitivity. In fact, who needs enemies when V is there with a scathing comment and a proverbial shove into the mud? You want to hate them, you should hate them. Of course, you donât.
âWhat about this conversation makes you think I want to talk to you?â
*Because of Vâs canon romantic interest in Z, if you romance V only, they will slowly shift their romantic affection from Z to MC in a realistic manner. The two will always be close friends, but when romancing V alone, MC will eventually become the sole source of their interest.Â
⥠Zero Chevalier
The Quiet, Cat-Like Con Artist (F/M)
F!Z is 5â˛10. M!Z is 6â˛1.
Age: 24
Quiet, stealthy, and quick to lash out when cornered, Z prefers the shadows to the spotlight. Why say many words when few will suffice? They made a living from con-to-con, using subterfuge and their knack for making themselves invisible to outwit their marks. Z dislikes violence as a whole and is known to have a weak stomach, though theyâll deny being an empath if asked. Z slouches too much, eats too little, and can be found staring off into the void or engrossed in their sketchbook. Youâre drawn to their mystery, their light, melodic voice, and their dry humor. Â
âCan you all keep it down? Youâre interrupting my sulking.â Â
*Z is the most oblivious of the romance options. Seriously, itâs like flirting with a brick wall. Romancing Z isnât for the impatient, but that doesnât mean itâs impossible. If romancing Z only, you will notice that V will take longer to warm up to MC because of their jealousy. In time, they will get over their feelings for Z and will come to support their relationship.
⥠Xa'eks/Xaâveed
From Nion 8, With Love (F/M)
Xa'eks is 6â˛5. Xaâveed is 6â˛9.
Age: ???
Personal Information: ???
Is X going to eat you? Is it bad that you wouldnât mind?
âC keeps trying to tell me what a âticking tockâ is. Please explain to them that I do not care.â
â POLY ROUTEÂ
Initiate a polyamorous relationship between MC, V and Z. To romance both V and Z, you must first romance V.Â
It doesnât take 20/20 vision to see that V has feelings for Z. It would be a bit embarrassing to watch if Z wasnât known to be heartbreakingly oblivious. Itâs like Z hasnât looked in a mirror a day in their life. Anyways, if romancing V is a boss-fight, then Z is the final boss in a gameâs 3 part saga. So you need reinforcements.
MC can flirt with both V and Z. MC will have to begin a romantic/sexual fling with V first, admit their feelings for Z, and encourage V to come clean and admit their own. The two of you can then pull Z into your relationship. Three emotionally stunted peas in a pod. Isnât it beautiful? âĄ
đž OTHER CHARACTERS
Hayden Graham (They/Them)
Age: 26. Height: 5â˛3.
Donât call them a girl, and you can keep your kneecaps.
Rebellious, witty, and charismatic, Hayden is a force to be reckoned with.
Roccio Marcellus (She/Her)
Age: 21. Height: 5â˛8
Will put on a full face of makeup to kick alien ass.Â
Voted Most Likely to Bring Her Music Player to a Deserted Island.
Elijah Crane (He/Him)
Age: 17. Height: 5â˛11
Thereâs no calculus in the apocalypse. Fine by him.
âIf Iâm gonna die anyway, at least let me try tequila before I go!â
And many more!
Note: This post will be updated as I progress through its development. Feel free to ask any questions regarding the plot, any trigger warnings, the romance options, or the MC themselves.Â

Magici: Worldstar is a contemporary fantasy romantic drama, a first part to the Magici series.
Ever wanted to become the best magician in the world? Ever wanted to become famous while at it?
Well, according to this flyer, by applying for this magic academy-turned-talent show, you can.
A chance to develop your magical affinities, get a free higher education from a redeemed academy, meet people from all over the world, possibly win 300 000 kubos (not sure about the conversion rates but that's a lot of money), AND become mindblowingly famous while at it?
Friends, mentors, rivals, lovers? In the end, the top only has space for one.
Will you be the one standing there?
But more importantly, what will you do to get there?
Find out in the next season of Magici: Worldstar, taking applicants starting NOW.
I've pretty much mapped out an entire 3rd if project ro help myself get out if a rut, plotting always kicks my ass. It did help but idk what to even do with this thing now. Something to do when I finish the bronze age story I suppose.
TAKE MY SOUL is an 18+ IF game being written in Twine. It's a retelling of the famous story of Eros and Psyche, just... with a few new added twists and turns!
Your sisters married off quick, you didn't. It was hard, harder than necessary for your parents to marry you off. Everyone seemed to kneel at the presence of your beauty but ended up never wanting to stay long enough for something to form.
You were practically a trophy for rich nobles to flaunt around. Cupid had failed you with this one.
Until one night, you felt a prick at your side, a rush of cold air, and suddenly your life flipped upside down when your parents came back to the castle with upsetting news about the rest of your life (or maybe the end of it?)
Customize YOUR own Psyche! Play as female, male, non-binary; straight, bisexual, pansexual, gay; asexual, and even, touch-averse! What hobbies should you have? What beliefs? What religion?
Follow the way the myth is supposed to unfold, or break away and create what you think should happen. Who said the minor god needed to get the person?
Find love in Cupid, or maybe even their mom?
Play as quite literally, one of the most beautiful people roaming Earth
Deal with your two obnoxious older sisters who only want to flaunt their husbands in your face
Enrich yourself in a story filled with new paths at every page and a whole ton of flavor text!
Have the occasional switch of POV, with the starring guest of Aphrodite, the Orcale?, and even your own love interest
The god of love, albeit a minor one, but a god nonetheless. You've never seen them, as Eros likes to stay hidden whilst casting their arrows. But, from what your tutors teach you, they have these massive angel wings that preen out whenever they get into something mischievous. Cloth wraps around their naked body, Eros doesn't leave much to the imagination. However, in some readings, Eros is depicted as a female with hip-length black hair, while in others, the male version likes to keep it cropped and out of his way.
this is a draft! more romances may be introduced in the future, but currently, im sticking with Eros

MC [That's you]
You grew up in the desert city of Akma under Matriarch Azira's House. Like many others who'd lost their parents you were trained to be a skilled member of society, you had many options but none so illustrious as being a god's chosen heir. Yet life is full of surprises.
The Bosom Buddy (she/her)
You've known Periphae, or Peri as most call her, for much of your life. She is your best friend and closest companion. Working under the Fragrant Lotus, a well renowned brothel under Matriarch Azira's control, she has never been much of a fighter. She's a playful gossip who does a horrid job at hiding her anxiety, its hard to accept that she's chosen to venture out with you of her own will.
The Shield (masc/fem selectable)
Eurus is a warrior from the northern region of Illoria who's been trained to fight along side the heir of light all their life. They've anticipated the day where they could fight alongside you, as is their destiny according to the prophecy. They have a carefree 'go with the flow' attitude about most things. Your safety and this quest for the world are not one of those.
The Chosen One The Guide (they/them)
Amani was a priestess that once held the title of the heir of light, they were thought to be the one to inherit the mark of the sun until the Day of Blessings came and it went to you. Now their years of training are being used to help you save all of humanity. A fact that makes them quiet bitter towards you, but Eurus says Amani is haughty and harsh with everyone.
The Raging Tempest (she/her)
Valeska is a warrior from the gloom infested lands of the Mystri, a place full of various nomadic clans. Much like yourself she is a chosen heir of a god, but it is a trait they treat with complete nonchalance. You aren't sure if she's cocky or apathetic, but the heir of storms claims her power is hers alone. All the same she offers you a helping hand on your quest despite not caring much for the cause.
[More to come]
well, you see, the thing is: (instead of finishing my sentence i curl up comfortably in bed and go to sleep
âł YOU ARE A SCAVENGER; a lone wanderer of the galaxies barely scraping by on your derelict secondhand ship. You hunt down abandoned ships and settlements, stripping them of what useful parts you can find and selling those to whoever will pay your prices. It's a dangerous, solitary life, but you don't have much choice in the matter. You have too much of a past to trust a crew or to settle down planetside.
But everything will change when you discover the salvage of a lifetime. Among the ruins of a planet older than you thought possible, you discover an ancient prison, containing something that you thought existed only in myth.
You don't remember what happens next; but when you wake, you're a prisoner on a Consortium ship â and you are no longer alone in your own mind.
âł YOU ARE NOW A VESSEL; the last vessel of the lost god.
Or is is the lost vessel of the last god? Either way, life as you know it is over. The Consortium â the conglomeration of various companies and governments that rule known space â want your head. The rebels want your power. But what do you want?
Escaped the Consortium with the aid of a fellow prisoner and a disgraced officer. Find a new ship, gather a crew of your own, and forge your place in a universe in which you are now something other than human.
And don't forget.
Gods may rise, but they also fall.

Engage in the complex moral dilemmas put on display. You will be made to confront difficult choices that explore themes of loyalty, freedom, and the blurred lines between devotion and manipulation.
Karma [F] Karma is an enigma within the commune, a devoted member and the daughter of its leader, Amanda. Radiating with an aura of kindness and a truly gentle touch, Karma embodies the very essence of the commune's philosophy. Her actions are always driven by a genuine desire to nurture and support those around her, offering a comforting presence and a listening ear to anyone in need. Karma is 18, 5'5 and white.
Rowan [M]
If you ask about Rowan in Eden, you will get a similar answer from everyone: free spirited, extroverted, the kind of person to help old women cross the street or play soccer with children on a whim. Heâs charismatic, warm-hearted and kind, but underneath his show of nonchalance you can see something unforgiving, something broken, waiting to be brought to the surface. Rowan is 20, 5â11, and mixed: brazilian and white.
Lilith [F]
Lilith lurks in the shadows of Eden. You can often find her in her bedroom, painting fervidly in dark shades of blue and green, usually scenes from her nightmares that so many believe are prophetic. She is reclusive and secretive, but in gaining her confidence you will gain insight into the beliefs and secrets of Eden, which have dictated her whole life. Lilith is 19, 5â8 and black.
Echo [M]
Echo is a mysterious and dark presence in the commune of Eden, contrasting its warmth with the essence of rain and dark days. With one pure black glass eye, he exudes suspicion and solitude. Yet beneath his tough exterior lies a perceptive and intuitive soul. Echo's resolve is clear â he believes you don't belong in Eden. Gaining his trust will be a delicate dance, if you're dedicated enough. Echo is 20, 6'0 and mixed: white and korean.
Fern [NB]
Fern is the embodiment of sunrises in Eden. With their connection to the earth and unappeasable craving for the knowledge pouring from Edenâs teachings, they are an example of the happiness that has been brought about by the commune. However, they are prone to shyness, and their studiousness can be overbearing at times⌠if not dangerous. Fern is 18, 5â3, and white.
Primrose [F]
Primrose is a whirlwind of madness, with a mind that dances to its own chaotic tune. Her unpredictable and manic nature makes her both exhilarating and alarming to be around. Like a lit fuse, she carries an air of impending explosion, and her reckless tendencies can lead to confrontations, leaving others in awe (and fear) of her aggressive prowess. As you interact with her, you'll experience the thrill of navigating her volatile moods and uncover the reasons behind her devotion to the cult. Prim is 19, 5'11 and white.
Ryan [M]
Your best friend's boyfriend. Ryan is the quintessential golden boy, your friend from an affluent family whose future appears paved with success. With his impeccable academic record and connections, prestigious colleges eagerly await his arrival. However, beneath the polished exterior, Ryan is an adventurous and carefree party boy, forever seeking the glimmer of joy in every moment. Despite his dying romance with Dahlia, Ryan aims to keep the peace and plans on letting her down easily... when the time is right. Ryan is 18, 6'2 and black.
polyamorous routes will be available with lilith + karma, rowan + primrose and ryan + echo.

Fantasy Guide to Building A Culture
Culture is defined by a collection of morals, ethics, traditions, customs and behaviours shared by a group of people.
Within every culture, there is a hierarchy. Hierarchies are an important part of any culture, usually do ingrained that one within the culture wouldn't even question it. Hierarchy can be established either by age, gender or wealth and could even determine roles within their society. Sometimes hierarchy can may be oppressive and rigid whilst other times, ranks can intermingle without trouble. You should consider how these different ranks interact with one another and whether there are any special gestures or acts of deference one must pay to those higher than them. For example, the Khasi people of Meghalaya (Northern India), are strictly matriarchal. Women run the households, inheritance runs through the female line, and the men of the culture typically defer to their mothers and wives. Here are a few questions to consider:
How is a leader determined within the culture as a whole and the family unit?
Is the culture matriarchal? Patriarchal? Or does gender even matter?
How would one recognise the different ranks?
How would one act around somebody higher ranking? How would somebody he expected to act around somebody lower ranking?
Can one move socially? If not, why? If so, how?
Traditions are a staple in any culture. These can be gestures or living life a certain way or to the way a certain person should look. Traditions are a personal detail to culture, they are what make it important. Tradition can dictate how one should keep their home, run their family, take care of their appearance, act in public and even determine relationship. Tradition can also be a double edged sword. Traditions can also be restrictive and allow a culture to push away a former member if they do not adhere to them, eg Traditional expectations of chastity led to thousands of Irish women being imprisoned at the Magdelene Laundries. Customs could be anything from how one treats another, to how they greet someone.
How important is tradition?
What are some rituals your culture undertakes?
What are some traditional values in your world? Does it effect daily life?
Are there any traditions that determine one's status?
Values and Opinions are the bread and butter of any culture. This is the way your culture sees the world and how they approach different life hurdles. These may differ with other cultures and be considered odd to outsiders, what one culture may value another may not and what opinion another holds, one may not. There will be historical and traditional reasons to why these values and opinions are held. Cultures usually have a paragon to which they hold their members to, a list of characteristics that they expect one to if not adhere to then aspire to. The Yoruba people value honesty, hard work, courage and integrity. Here are some questions to consider?
How important are these ethics and core values? Could somebody be ostracised for not living up to them?
What are some morals that clash with other cultures?
What does your culture precieved to be right? Or wrong?
What are some opinions that are considered to be taboo in your culture? Why?
For many cultures, the way somebody dresses can be important. History and ethics can effect how one is meant to be dressed such as an expectation of chastity, can impose strict modesty. While other cultures, put more importance on details, the different sorts of clothes worn and when or what colour one might wear. The Palestinian people (٠٠اŮŮŮŘą ŘĽŮ٠اŮبŘŘą Ř ŮŘŻ ŮŮŮŮŮŮ ŘŁŘعاعا) denoted different family ties, marriage status and wealth by the embroidery and detailing on their thoub.
Are there traditional clothes for your world? Are they something somebody wears on a daily basis or just on occasion?
Are there any rules around what people can wear?
What would be considered formal dress? Casual dress?
What would happen if somebody wore the wrong clothes to an event?
Language can also be ingrained as part of a Culture. It can be a specific way one speaks or a an entirely different language. For example, in the Southern States of America, one can engage in a sort of double talk, saying something that sounds sweet whilst delivering something pointed. Bless their heart. I have a post on creating your own language here.
Many cultures are known for different styles of dance, their artwork and crafts. Art is a great part of culture, a way for people to express themselves and their culture in art form. Dance can be an integral part of culture, such as cĂŠilĂ dance in Ireland or the Polka in the Czech Republic. Handicrafts could also be important in culture, such as knitting in Scottish culture and Hebron glass in Palestine. Music is also close to culture, from traditional kinds of singing such as the White Voice in Ukraine and the playing of certain instruments such as the mvet.
The way a culture prepares or intakes or treats certain foods are important to a culture. In some cultures, there is a diet yo adhere to, certain foods are completely banned. With Jewish culture, pork is prohibited along with fish such as sturgeon, along with shellfish and certain fowl. Meat must also be prepared in a certain way and animal byproducts such as dairy, must never be created or even eaten around this meat. This is known as kosher. The way one consumes food is also important to culture. In some cultures, only certain people may eat together. Some cultures place important on how food is eaten. In Nigerian culture, the oldest guests are served first usually the men before the women. In Japanese culture, one must say 'itadakimasu' (I recieve) before eating. Culture may also include fasting, periods of time one doesn't intake food for a specific reason.
What are some traditional dishes in your world?
What would be a basic diet for the common man?
What's considered a delicacy?
Is there a societal difference in diet? What are the factors that effect diet between classes?
Is there any influence from other cuisines? If not, why not? If so, to what extent?
What would a typical breakfast contain?
What meals are served during the day?
What's considered a comfort food or drink?
Are there any restrictions on who can eat what or when?
Are there any banned foods?
What stance does your world take on alcohol? Is it legal? Can anybody consume it?
Are there any dining customs? Are traditions?
Is there a difference in formal meals or casual meals? If so, what's involved?
Are there any gestures or actions unacceptable at the dinner table?
How are guests treated at meals? If they are given deference, how so?
