Growing up I always watched movies, documentaries, tv shows and read books about atrocities committed by people in history and thought.. how did this happen and why did no one do anything? Why did governments not intervene? Why did public figures not speak out? How did they get away with it? it? Most importantly how did human treat other humans like that? Where was the compassion?
I'm ashamed to say that in 2024 I now have the answers. The government's gas lighting and complicity, the media dehumanising, ignoring and bias reporting, the huge companies funding and supporting, the public figures choosing to stay silent, the ordinary person pretending "they don't know enough" this is how we've allowed this to happen time and time again..
In the past we could forgive people for not having enough information, not having access to it, not being able to hear the stories of the horrors, to be able to see it with their own eyes..
In 2024 you can't pretend you "don't know enough" you can't pretend you don't see innocent children, men, and women being brutally killed by sadistic, genocidal leaders and their war crimes.. you can't ignore the 100's and 1000's of videos, images, stories and people who are telling you what is happening.. the sheer horror of images we are seeing.. you can't ignore the countless protests, discourse, conversations, posts, live feeds etc.. history will judge your inaction, your silence, your ignorance..
This is not a war.. this is a genocide.. this is massacre.. there are no sides..
Also please don't forget the innocent people suffering in Sudan and Congo they need our voices too!

We left behind all our possessions and businesses and became homeless. My children feel fear, anxiety, and sadness, and suffer from psychological distress due to the loss of security and stability. Hunger gnaws at our stomachs, and the costs are exorbitant.

Okay so this is Aala, one of the main characters of Onto the Horizon. Sheโs the perspective character of book 1 (Tides of Change) and is Nilaโs older sister. Aala is a finaalin, a species native to the ocean planet of Ocera. She can channel water magic like most of her species can and loves to create music, but often does not have the time to do so due to her duties as a princess. She loves Nila dearly, but when Ocera is invaded by the Intergalactic Alliance, sheโs forced to flee with her sister leaving the rest of their family behind. Aala is willing to do anything to keep Nila safe, even if that means working with the Insurgency.
Btw, Iโm just doing quick headshots for these introductions as I was originally going to do a full group shot but that is taking longer to finish than I had hoped so quick drawings it is.
A woman named Fadia has reached out to me (@fadia) and trusted me to tell you her story. Fadia and her husband have 5 children and are trying to survive through the horrific conditions enforced upon Gaza by Israel.
They've had to evacuate their home and currently their family is crowded within a car garage, housing 12 people, with absolutely no privacy. And occasionally accommodating even more people. They're suffering from a lack of clean environment, with car exhausts and smoke from burning wood as well as insects which are all polluting the space this family is living in.
Fadia's youngest daughter is still a toddler with a weak immune system and the environment is causing her to have a persistent cold and cough.
Additionally, Fadia's mother is an elderly woman with diabetes and blood pressure who is experiencing health complications which cannot be healed in Gaza. She needs to be evacuated in order to seek treatment.
Fadia's family is trying to raise $100,000 CAD to evacuate but have merely reached $4,369 CAD.
Even a small donation can make a difference here. Please donate. And even if you can't please share and get their story out there.
