Just because you like him in Sherlock and other films doesn't mean he can play every fucking role in sight, I've read comics from Knightfall to No Man's Land and his role screams Josh Brolin and Ben Affleck, Christian Bale would be amazing at pulling it off due to their intense commitments to roles.
