As if to herald the fall of the empire itself, Ravka’s next king has perished in the suffocating darkness of the Fold, plunging the country into a panic unrivaled by any plague. Rumors of his successor’s illegitimacy threaten the line of succession, and a country in mourning cries out for answers few are certain will come. The nation is at war with itself and its neighbors, and the question of collapse is not if, but when.
