The first CD I ever owned was Weird Al Yankovic’s album Bad Hair Day. The wisdom tooth pain and root canal I’ve been recovering from for the past week remind of the track Cavity Search, so thought I’d make that the first song I post to the blog. Trouble is, I can’t find a decent way to embed the song that’s in any way legal, but you can play it on Spotify if you don’t mind getting an account there.
For the rest of you, you can still watch Weird Al shred.

A couple days ago, I stopped by Gotcha Gachapon’s awesome new arcade. It has DJMax Technika 3, Jubeat, Dance Maniax 2nd Mix, DDR Supernova 2, and other Japanese music games that Columbus arcades have never had before…but it’s in basically a storage unit in a bad part of town. Yeah, it’s pretty much this music video. It’s Mindless Self Indulgence, so the lyrics are NSFW.

I’ve been updating my VOGJAM game Skeleton Hunter with new features like custom button mapping. PC games need this because players might have foreign keyboards, nonstandard gamepads, or disabilites that make the default controls unusable. Mine works like the PC version of Skullgirls where every action has both a keyboard key and a gamepad button, and you can assign them one by one or all at once. Please try it and tell me if the menus work the way you expect them to.

YouTuber Alpharad has spent the past five months making hype highlight videos of online matches. He has finally finished his “How to Play Sm4sh 101” series with one last Villager video, showing off his absurd damage potential and mindgames.

I’m on my way to PAX East 2014 with three of my friends, about to ride the Metal Gear Line to Boston. The 19-hour train ride each way is basically a mini-convention full of gamers that are also going to PAX East. I’ll be using my normally-inactive Twitter to arrange meet-ups with friends, and I’ll be keeping tabs on Facebook and #pax IRC too. For those of you that are headed to PAX East, let’s meet up and play some games! If you’re not going to PAX East, why not? It’s 60,000 people meeting up and playing games. What’s not to like? I’ll post some pictures at the end.

I was going to post the Geeknights PAX East 2012 highlight video here, but the video's thumbnail includes a pony on one of their badges. I'm trying to avoid ponies, but with Kinkaido and the other bronies from my stream here, I probably won't be able to hold them off for long. We're picking it up at Bryan on the northwest corner of Ohio. I probably won't be able to dodge ponies there either. Resistance is futile.

Serious time here for a minute. If you can legally vote in the US, it’s your responsibility to read about your ballot and vote in the mid-term elections on Tuesday, or you have no right to complain about the outcome.
Who is your House Representative? Did they participate in the budget stalemate that shut down the government for 16 days? Did they vote for CISPA, a cybersecurity bill that would have allowed the NSA to bypass existing privacy laws? If so, vote against them and fire them. This includes every Representative from Ohio except Tim Ryan.
UPDATE: Every House incumbent in Ohio got re-elected. It’s like the whole state rose up in unison and said “Government shutdowns? CISPA? Sounds good; do more of that.” Way to fail, Ohio.
The blog will return to its regular goofiness next week.

30-Day Video Game Music Challenge (Super Hard Mode) Day 15: Boss battle music From Battle Garegga (Saturn, 1998)
If the boss kills you, just say you took the death on purpose to manage your rank.
If this version is too “arcade” to count as Saturn music, use Christmas NiGHTS’s boss music instead.

30-Day Video Game Music Challenge (Super Hard Mode) Day 23: Underrated music From Knuckles’ Chaotix (32X, 1995)
Chaotix nicely uses the extra sound channels that went unused in most 32X games. I think I ought to give Chaotix a chance.

Oh cool, Bill Wurtz just popped up in my YouTube feed! Time for me to step away from my subreddit about floaty things for a minute and post this to my old social media places! I’ve been a huge gamer my whole life. Though recent changes have taken priority over games, I still play Wordle, lichess, and retro games. I miss my stream and I want to reboot the stream when I can.

I like a good half-baked design every now and then, and this modular cell phone caught my eye. Each of my past few cell phones have met their end from just one component failing. With a Phonebloks phone, you could simply replace the bad component and be good as new. Motorola’s on board with this now, and I hope the project continues to gain traction. How about blocks for buttons and a D-pad?
