30-Day Video Game Music Challenge (Super Hard Mode) Day 18: Music in a game released the year you were born From Marble Madness (Arcade, 1984)
The first FM sound chip in a video game. That poor thing… Normally, we’d game over first, but this song’s pitch and speed can keep on increasing until the sound chip can’t handle any more.

We’ve seen tool-assisted Marvel before, but Ataraxia takes it to new heights with camera hacks so we can see some previously offscreen setups. Combo scientists like Magnetro treat MvC2 like a puzzle game where they can create a bouncing Colossus, interruptable Ruby Heart supers, and Dhalsim’s rapid-fire turban attack. Leave it to Magnetro to put out a five minute video that takes a 38 minute video to explain.

In the PlayStation 2 era, I spent thousands of hours playing the Tony Hawk games online and making levels and videos. We’d get out of bounds and explore behind the scenes, and sometimes find the developers left some easter eggs for us. Oddheader has compiled the community’s findings into one epic 24-minute video that takes us through Neversoft’s entire run with the series.
The transition from WordPress to Tumblr is about 75% complete. 108 WordPress posts became 120 Tumblr posts (20 are Tumblr reblogs). I lose the mouseover text on images, Twitter embeds, and email updates, but most things work and I’ve fixed about a dozen broken links.

Well, this is neat. For years, we’ve seen OBD-II scanners that can read Check Engine light codes from your car at home, but Automatic goes much further by working this into a smartphone app. Automatic constantly monitors your fuel consumption, speed, and trip data while you drive and offers up tips to improve your driving style and use less fuel. If it detects an accident, it can even call the authorities for you.

30-Day Video Game Music Challenge (Super Hard Mode) Day 27: Music from a handheld game From Bravely Default (3DS, 2012)
JDetan keeps telling me about Bravely Default’s fantasy rock soundtrack. He also says I should never trust a fairy, whatever that means. If a portable RPG rocks this hard throughout, I’ve got to play it.
Edit: Yikes! The first YouTube video I had here was taken down today! Here's a different upload. I use official YouTube Music uploads where possible, but none exist for Bravely Default's soundtrack. Edit 2: I had to replace the YouTube video again.

This is my new ride, a 2016 Kia Forte5 SX. I wanted a new five door hatchback with a backup camera, Bluetooth audio, and a nice interior for road trips. When I walked up to the car with the key and the mirrors folded out, I knew this was the one. When I went to Shumatsucon this weekend, I parked in the craziest parking spot I know and took some pictures.
With this, the hardware upgrades are complete. This car is so good, I feel like I need to improve myself to be worthy of it. More on that later.
It's about time I took my own wide angle picture like this. I had to wait a week for a nice day, and I happened to be at an event near this parking garage. I even got a helicopter in the shot!
I probably won't drive up there again. It's really tight climbing to the 8th floor of Fifth Third Center with a car. It's only good for pictures. I haven't tried panorama before. The car looks kinda warped, but I got all of Columbus Commons. It's too cool not to include.

Another one of those scenes that only works in fiction. Where would I get a glass this big? So refreshing!

This is my current desktop wallpaper. I have a dual monitor setup, so it looks like Marisa is throwing a star bomb onto my left monitor. I actually got this one from a Tumblr I'm going to call F'Yeah Pixiv that sadly isn't updated anymore. It's one of the last things posted on that Tumblr. (My old blog had all work safe text, but when I’m reblogging a user named fuckyeahpixiv-blog, I guess that idea goes out the window.)

I love watching people break games. This tool-assisted glitchfest of the SNES International Superstar Soccer Deluxe replaces the referees with dogs that apparently can’t keep score and don’t take issue with players messing around behind the goals. If you like this, the mad scientists at TASVideos have plenty more.

Street Fighter IV is actually pretty weird beneath the surface. YouTube user ArmchairTitan wows us with ridiculous combos you’ll never see outside of training mode and some priceless editing. This ought to help hold us until we hear more about Street Fighter V‘s mechanics, if they’ll be anywhere near this crazy.

Thank You Scientist is a seven-piece band playing jazz fusion progressive metal, my favorite! Their new album is streaming in lots of places including YouTube. The band’s drummer, Faye Fadem, thought Swarm would sound cool as a chiptune, so she made it happen. The title says “8-Bit”, but the SNES samples and K.K. Slider vocals say otherwise.
