I feel like Transgender Day of Visability (March 31) is going to get overlooked this year considering the circumstances. Iβd like every trans and nonbinary person who sees this to know I am proud of you for existing. Just because weβre in the middle of a pandemic doesnβt mean you were forgotten. :)

:π±πTips for CottageCore folks still in school!ππ±:
Now Iβm no expert or professional advice giver. But, as someone who is also still in school and is very enthralled in the community of CottageCore WarmCore etc etc, Iβve come up with some helpful tips to help you express and try to live your best Cottage life when you still live at home, or are attending school!
π 1. Thrift shopping!:
As someone who canβt quite afford the typical lovely and homey appliances/attire thrifting is a wonderful option to find either home made or vintage items/clothing for every day use. Maybe finding a quaint little tea set, or maybe even a beautiful quilted blanket, or a bread maker to make that loaf youβve wanted to for so long! It may take some searching, but thrift stores ca be your best friend when trying to find the material items youβd like to make yourself feel a bit more like youre living your cottage life!
π± 2. Local Bakery!:
If youβre like me and canβt necessarily bake your own goods, for whatever reason it may be, see if where ever you live has a local bakery or something of the kind. I have one in my own town and find that in comparison, the prices, while realitively the same as a local grocery store, the quality and love put into it is so much more! Most times you can even order specialized breads or loafs for your pleasure, and the satisfaction of having freshly made bread (albeit you did not make it yourself) can add to your cottage-y experience! In addition to that, grab some freshly made pastries too to go with your coffee or tea later in the day or week, many bakeries (if not all) all have some sweets of some kind, and even cakes if youβre feeling up to it. Highly recommend this if youβre really in search of a good way to spice things up!
π 3. Cleaning up!:
Ah yes, cleaning. While I know many of us are busy, or simply can not find the energy to take part in a hearty clean up session, I find that even just clearing off your counters, or straightening up your room can be a fine tuned way to making you feel more like your homey and warm cottage-ly inclined self. Cleaning and having a rather cleanly routine can make you feel as if you are helping your home/room become a greater and more personal space, adding your special little touches here and there. Getting some fresh flowers or even just doing up those dishes you forgot to last night. Clearing off your night stand or poperly making your bed. You can always find little ways to make your life while in school just a tad more homey through simple chore-ly tasks.
π± 4. Open some windows and curtains!:
While the Winter season still lingers around some of us, others are embracing Spring. In this time I highly recommend opening up your windows or curtains, turning on your favourite music, and listen to the nature or sounds outside your home/room. Opening up your space after the long and cold winter, or any gloomy period can be both a relieving and refreshing experience, letting the new light embrace you, and make you feel surrounded and more at peace. Homey if you will. Now some people may not like this and that is totally okay! Do what makes you comfortable, but if you feel the need, open them up. <3
π 5. Relax and Read/Drink something Warm (or refreshing)!:
As simple as this may seem, and a simple way to end off my tips, I thought Iβd combine my two favourite tips and things I do on a more regular basis. Reading is one of those things that (I find) can make one super relaxed and feel impressed and warm. Nesting down into your favourite sweater or your favourite blanket, grab a book you like and begin to read. It doesnβt matter how long it will take you, dont worry, just imagine and let yourself go. Pairing this with a nice warm drink, such as coffee or tea of your choice, can truly make you feel a if you are right next to a fire place, cozy in your big chair, with nothing but you and your small cottage, listening to your favourite old tunes as time slowly goes by. I truly, and highly recommend this to anyone not feeling that warm and tingly homey feeling.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thats all!!! I know there arent many tips here but I hope you find them useful! Iβm happy I could share these with you and I hope you can use these in your venture to achieve a more warm and cottage-y life!
Please feel free to add any tips and tricks you have to the list! Iβm sure there are many more of us out there :))
Have a lovely day <3
very helpful, thank you so much, will utilize during the spooky months
Having psychosis during the fall means having to face lots of spooky stuff. I donβt speak for everyone, but Halloween is a very tough time of year for me. Horror movies, trailers, decorations, and even pranks are pulled out for my favorite time of year. So here are some helpful hints that I use to keep myself happy, safe, and spooky!
πΈStay away from things that may trigger you, no matter how small. Do not underestimate yourself. Even watching or reading something slightly spooky, when you know this is harmful, can bring up bad memories or start an episode.
πΈInstall a βspoiler blockβ on your laptop or computer. They can go by many names, but these apps block out keywords on all sites. Some can be more general, like topics instead of words.
πΈIf youβre sensing that a jump scare is about to happen on what youβre watching, and canβt get out of the situation or want to continue watching, wiggle your toes, fingers, and chatter your teeth. This is what I do and it prevents me from jumping or flinching, which stops chest pain and episodes.
πΈGo to kid friendly parties! As a teen who cannot see bloody or gore-associated costumes, I go to family/all ages parties where costumes are all kid friendly!
πΈWatch kid friendly movies! Itβs hard to not watch Halloween movies, but donβt expose yourself to horror if you canβt handle it! Movies like Beetlejuice, Hocus Pocus, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Halloweentown are lightly spooky.
πΈThis might be just me, but I can convince myself that I have 'immunityβ to any bad stuff or danger (not all dangers, if that makes sense, but dangers as in my delusions and such) if I give myself a good luck charm or simply write βSAFETY CHARMβ on a post-it and carry it around!
πΈDecorate with simple stuff! Some decorations might include bl**d, b*gs, and other horror stuff. Stick to simple things like orange/white lights, cartoon ghosts/pumpkins/bats, wolves/cats, and witch hats! Overall, keep things cartoony and basic! Or, even better, just get fall decorations, like leaves, scarecrows, and pumpkins!!
πΈSTAY AWAY FROM HAUNTED HOUSES! I cannot stress this enough. No matter what symptoms you have of psychosis, a haunted house plays on them ALL. Voices/noises, jump scares, touch (some cannot touch you, but some can!), and even hallucinations (people running and hiding, so you may think itβs a hallucination, or you could see things in the dark)
πΈGo trick-or-treating in a kid oriented part of town! Youβll see fun decorations, cute costumes, and wonβt be scared! Or go to a kid friendly party and have fun there!
πΈParticipate in non-spooky fun! Bake spooky/fall themed foods, craft, make your own costume, and carve pumpkins!!
πΈOverall, know your limits and DONβT push them! Test your limit during a different season. Have fun, stay spooky, and enjoy your fall, everyone!
