Hi im not really experienced (third time dm :D) BUt
1. I can't wait for your next campaign, definetly count me in!
2. It really is not that complicated once you get into it, i promise!
3. And next time, when you feel like the whole world is against you, remember how it was literally against you here, and you won. Be the hero you are in you real life.
4. I guess for dm, it really helps if you engage, so i would do that, make sure they know they are doing great. For a player, listening can go a long way. Im not good with words in real life XD
I'm trying to get a little project together and I wanted to do a little crowd sourcing.
I am trash when it comes to wording things, and getting my feelings down on paper. I would appreciate any help! Thoughts, suggestions, anything really!
What would you say to a first time DM as like "You Did It!" - but cooler
What would you say to a first time player?
What are some things you would say to your party, players or DM at the end of a campaign?
What would be some words of encouragement?
You all rock, and I thank you 🦝😚
thinking about writing a fic about genloss bc we are severely lacking in the comfort department still and i need it. to be clear the last time i wrote fanfiction was when i was 12 and it was about Spider-Man BUT this is making me want to try again
there is blood in your brains and blood on your hands and you are trailed by the bright red shadow of sin
Nonbinary tag checks out :D
Hey! Positive experience for once:
One time one of my dad's friends came over, and he bought on of his kids, a girl my age. We were kinda awkward at first, because we had to share my room for a night, but then we started talking, and me, freshly discovered lesbian at the time, asked her if she knows girl in red.
She said YES! And also that when she saw my guitar that i was clearly not using but still kept in my room she wanted to ask but she was afraid. So we spent the night, just two small gays, not yet out to anyone but each other :D
Haven't heard of her since, but that was one of my first real life positive queer experiences, and i can't forget it :)
this made my day, thank you so much! i had a kinda stressful start of my day but seeing so many asks like this just brightened it up.
I can’t stop thinking about the role of the audience in genloss. Is the viewer complicit in Showfall’s crime? Or are they too, being manipulated? Every time the audience was referred to in an accusatory way, and it was kinda implied that they were to blame for the choices they made. But the one pointing that blame, was Showfall itself. Who we all know is sus af.
Those audience choices were intentionally rigged, right? You’re given option A) a bad thing happens, or option B) another bad thing huh. No matter what you choose, someone dies. Just like the choices that the characters made, all still led to the same fucked up situations. And who still points the blame - fucking Showfall.
In that final scene, the audience listens to gl!Ranboo. It’s haunting, in a way. Initially they vote for him to live, to have another chance to break free. They choose mercy, escape, keep trying please. They want him to have another chance: very different to the heartless image Showfall is implying.
Than gl!Ranboo begs to die, and they listen again. They vote die, and it’s the mercy he selected. And it’s their fault: you made a choice, viewer. But who made the options for that poll to begin with? And so, how can you not say that the Audience was also part of the manipulation. Yet another fourth wall that wasn’t able to be broken.
Guys! I cracked the code! I wish I had any followers to share this magic revelation I had!
In D&D I love being a DM. I really do. With one exception.
Money.
Knowing how much a character should buy or sell something for is just way out of my grasp. For a rare item the price can be anywhere between five hundred and five THOUSAND. That’s a big difference! How am I supposed to know in between those two numbers what it should be?
I googled. And googled. And googled. Thinking *there must be a better way* and couldn’t find a single thing that made sense. Well me and two other DM friends got together and we figured it out. The magic system of pricing.
So first you take the pricing by magic item rarity in the DMG
Then you go to Xanathars and look at the Magic Item Tables to determine if the item is major or minor
Divide the prices in the rarity into major and minor. Major the higher half and minor the lower.
So that makes
Rare Minor - 500 - 2,500
Rare Major - 2,501 - 5,000
Very Rare Minor - 5,001 - 30,000
Very Rare Major - 30,001 - 50,000
Legendary Minor - 50,000 - 300,000
Legendary Major - 300,000 - 500,000
Then
THEN
It’s all up to a persuasion roll. Because let’s face it, what’s a fantasy shopping adventure of magic items without bartering and haggling?
So you divide the amounts into roll milestones. So a persuasion roll of 0-10 you pay the highest and 20+ you pay the lowest.
Like so:
Common Items: 1d6 x 10
Uncommon Items 1d6 x 100
Rare Minor:
0-9: 2,500
10-11: 2,100
12-14: 1,700
15-17: 1,300
18-19: 900
20+ : 500
Rare Major
0-9: 5,000
10-11: 4,600
12-14: 4,200
15-17: 3,800
18-19: 3,200
20+: 2,500
Very Rare Minor
0-9: 30,000
10-11: 25,000
12-14: 20,000
15-17: 15,000
18-19: 10,000
20+ : 5,000
Very Rare Major
0-9: 50,000
10-11: 45,000
12-14: 40,000
15-17: 35,000
18-19: 30,000
20+ : 25,000
Legendary
0-9: 250,000
10-11: 200,000
12-14: 150,000
15-17: 100,000
18+ : 50,000
Legendary Major
0-9: 500,000
10-11: 450,000
12-14: 400,000
15-17: 350,000
18-19: 300,000
20+ : 250,000
Seriously someone who is followed by a lot of D&D people find this shit and spread it! It’s so much easier and makes a million times more sense then anything I ever heard of before and i wish someone else would have thought of it sooner (or if someone else did that I had found it sooner)
