the best option i was able to imagine for them to meet is some kind of freaky in between space where they can all hang out and chill before The Horrors begin. i think they would be too locked in on their respective love interests, but would have good friendly rapport with the alternates :)

Thinking about how the creator of mouthwashing said that a huge part of the horror is meant to be that every player will identify in some way with Jimmy, relate to him on some level, and realize that they share some traits with such an awful person, with that being what "I hope this hurts" was meant to mean. The point is that Jimmy is someone you are going to feel a connection to and that should hurt, that should cause you to reflect. Anyway I think the mouthwashing fandom really missed that because there is a truly awful self righteousness problem that no one is doing any self reflection on. I actively avoid the fandom for this reason every post I see from the mouthwashing fandom is people talking about other fans the same way Jimmy talks about the other members of the crew (esp Curly and Anya) with 0 self awareness lol.
Lots of people mentioned how the mouthwash can be a metaphor for Jimmy and how he’s like a germ that makes it through the system and causes massive damage (“that lucky 1%”, “kills 99%”). Something else that hasn’t been discussed as much is how the mouthwash could represent censorship in the workplace. Pony Express is a retaliatory company. Anyone who reports misconduct is punished by the company. And the punishment doesn’t stop at the reporting person. The entire crew gets punished. This punishment system encourages employees to silence themselves when incidents of abuse happen. This means cases like Anya’s case go unreported. Maintaining a “clean” image of the company goes hand in hand with employee self-censorship. Employees avoid discussing or reporting anything that could result in punishment and ruin the company’s reputation.
