TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
Decided to do Young Dj Octavio for G-10. I imagine he was in the middle of fighting, and he just sees Cuttlefish across the battlefield... It just hits him that his best friend (probably more) is fighting AGAINST him in this war. No matter who wins, they're never going to look at each other like they used to.
Here's the template for anyone who wants to try this for themselves.
Iâm thinking about Wicked tonight, specifically why Elphaba ends up with Fiyero instead of Glinda in the musical despite Elphaba and Glinda having the more well-rounded relationship.
You could chalk it up to the writers wanting a heteronormative ending (and Iâm certain thatâs part of it) or the fact that Elphaba and Fiyero had a love affair in the book. But I think thereâs a bit more nuance to it.
The whole point of Glindaâs character is that she upholds the status quo of Oz. No matter how much she loves Elphaba or sympathizes with the plight of the Animals, she will always align herself with the current system and those in power. And as long as that remains the case, a relationship between her and Elphaba is futile because Elphaba will not give up her cause.
Elphaba and Glinda represent to different ends of a spectrum. Elphaba resists the oppressive forces in Oz, while Glinda upholds them. But Fiyero is somewhere in the middle. He starts out privileged and carefree like Glinda, but quickly turns to Elphabaâs side. He does become Captain of the Guard, but only to find Elphaba and help her evade arrest.
And therein lies the difference between Glinda and Fiyero as love interests to Elphaba. Glinda would never sacrifice her title as âthe Good Witchâ and all her power granted from the Wizard, even if it meant helping Elphaba. Fiyero, on the other hand, does give up his privilege, his title, and even his human form for Elphaba. Glinda clings to what the status quo gives her, while Fiyero ultimately rejects it.
Yes, the writing around Elphaba and Fiyeroâs romance is a bit rushed and doesnât have the same gradual development that Elphaba and Glinda have. And yes, I have no doubt heteronormativity played a role in giving Elphaba a male love interest in the end. But I see a lot of people write off Fiyero and his relationship with Elphaba and I just donât agree.
Why does Elphaba end up with Fiyero instead of Glinda? Because Fiyero makes the sacrifices that Glinda wasnât willing to.
Some rogue doodles and rough designs
plus: embarrassingly inconsistent Jervis doodles under the cut
PRAYING nobody has done this with them
Something that always devastates me to think about is the Gotham Rogues Gallery getting arrested. Not because I donât want to see my favorites locked up, or because I have some vendetta against Batman; but because of what I know Gotham thinks of them when they do.
What made me start thinking about this was BTAA, specifically when Riddler was surrounded by Batman and the GCPD on the boat and how he genuinely preferred to jump into the filthy, freezing Gotham harbor than go back to Arkham. To the rest of Gotham he was having a âtantrumâ, he was being âbrattyâ and throwing himself a pity party. To Gotham, he was being a baby and refused to go back to Arkham because he was cruel and mad his fun was ruined.
But to him, this was his worst nightmare. The second Batman said the word âArkhamâ it was no longer about the scheme, it was no longer about failing. All he could think of was the abuse and neglect he would face as soon as he was back in the asylum and all the abuse trauma he had already faced from his father. It was desperate self preservation that made him kick and flail and yell. Because what else could he do in that moment? He was caught.
His âtantrumâ was a cry for help and as far as he was concerned, everyone was brushing him off and refusing to listen. It also explains why the Rogueâs despise Batman â because despite Bruce claiming he wants to help, he doesnât actually listen to the concerns they have about their treatment and environment.
And this goes for ALL the Rogues. Itâs heartbreaking and goes to show the sad reality that the reason Gotham isnât getting better is because they want to forfeit the health of anyone who is different or struggles with mental health. Itâs why Gotham has such a broken system. This, of course, doesnât excuse any of the Rogueâs actions. But it obviously doesnât encourage them to want to seek help either because Gotham never cared to see them healthy in the first place.
COMIC BASED ON THE IDEA THAT BILL FORGOT IT WAS IN THERE !!!!!
also a part 2 to this!
Conquering a planet you have been waiting a trillion years to obtain would probably make you forget about the little speck of home you keep hidden under your hat <3
Plus, an alternate ending to this scene I drew up because there are SO many possibilities of what could have happened here, and it REALLY is making me ponder my orb
