AN: Okay, I gotta say, I had sooo many more ideas for this and I could have kept going on and on, you know? Like, that feeling when you're working on something and you're so into it, you just can't stop? Yeah, that was me. But I think I ended it at the right moment. Looking back on it now, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
Sorry for the rambling, oops-. I just wanted to share my thoughts with you. Hope you enjoy, and I'd love to hear your feedback. Thanks for always being such great support and encouraging, it means a lot to me!
You've hated Jungkook from the time he walked through those stupid doors of your apartment announcing that him and Jenna were now official. The way he smiled at you made you feel sick to your stomach, like he knew he was hurting you, and he enjoyed it.
There was a time when you were deeply infatuated with Jungkook. You would spend hours daydreaming about him, imagining yourself in with him. You remember listening to songs that reminded you of him and even making a dedicated playlist for when you were thinking of him. You would frequently check his social media accounts and attend events where he might be present, hoping to catch a glimpse of him.
However, you were well aware that he was out of your league. He was older than you and was the head of the photography club at your college, which made him seem all the more unapproachable. You couldn't help but feel intimidated by his talent and success.
You were fourteen back then, and things were different. You had a different perspective on the word love, and your experiences were unique to that time in your life. Despite your feelings, you eventually came to terms with the fact that he was not meant to be yours. It was a bittersweet realization.
Looking back, you cringe at your actions – you've grown and changed. You don't listen to your heart anymore. You've learned to love yourself, learned to keep a distance from feelings.
You tried to ignore him, tried to keep your distance, but Jenna is your best friend, and she wanted you to get along with him. You knew his kind, a player who couldn't be trusted. You had seen the way he flirted with other girls, the way he talked about them like they were nothing, and you refused to be one of them.
"You know I hate Jungkook. Why would you invite him over for our sleepover?" You let out a sigh as you complain to your best friend and roommate, Jenna, about his presence at your upcoming sleepover.
After weeks of anticipation, the day finally arrived. You and your friend had been looking forward to this for a long time. Despite being busy with college and work, you managed to find some time for yourselves. You were both excited to have some much-needed girl time, where you could catch up on each other's lives, and just enjoy each other's company.
You think back to the last time you saw Jungkook and Jenna together. How he always seemed to be taking Jenna away from you. You understand that he's her boyfriend now, but it's hard to accept him into your space when you don't have a good relationship with him.
As you walk through the store, your eyes close in annoyance at the mention of Jeon Jungkook, a person who you've had a strong dislike for ever since he showed up back in your life unannounced by dating your best friend. Bringing up old memories you'd long suppressed.
Stopping and looking at you, her expression softens. "He's my boyfriend," she reminds you, "and he wanted to spend more time together. You know how busy he gets when it's hockey season.”
Rolling your eyes, you remember how Jenna described the long hours Jungkook spends training for his hockey games and how it can be difficult for them to spend quality time together.
He has always been the center of attention no matter where he goes, and it's hard not to feel inferior around him. Either way, it's hard not to be jealous of him. His looks, his charms, his grades, everything about the guy was perfect. God, one could say that he even had a pretty voice.
He's the kind of boy that guys seem to hate, but girls can't resist.

When you were a teenager, you would go to great lengths to try to get his attention.
You wanted to do everything you could to make him happy. You would spend hours getting ready for school, choosing the perfect outfit, and applying your makeup flawlessly. In addition, you would often bake him cookies, not just for him but for his entire hockey team, as a way to show your support. You also went out of your way to become a cheerleader, just so that you could support him from a closer distance. All of these actions were done with the intention of feeling closer to him and bringing you both together.
Finally, after mustering up the courage to confess your feelings to him at the end of the school year, you were met with disappointment. Jungkook told you that he didn't feel the same way, even daring to laugh in your face, leaving you heartbroken and with tears in your eyes. You couldn't help but feel as though all your efforts were in vain.
So, while the heartbreak may have been difficult to endure, it was ultimately a stepping stone towards a brighter future.
His rejection felt like a slap in the face, and you struggled to find a way to move on from your crush on him for a long time.

"Jungkookie stop," your best friend whines as her boyfriend tries to feed her the chocolate-dipped strawberries that you made for your sleepover.
You remember how you found the inspo online and how you had to go to two different grocery stores to find the perfect strawberries. Only for them to be taken away from you as the two 'lovebirds' beside you snack on them.
You find yourself rolling your eyes at the playful exchange between Jenna and Jungkook. You can't help but feel a bit left out. You've always disliked the feeling of being a third wheel, especially now that you're supposed to be having a sleepover with your best friend.
You try to focus on the movie playing in front of you, but your mind wanders to how you're feeling. You wonder if you should have invited someone else to join you as well, or if you should have just played sick.
As you watch the Barbie movie, you can't help but feel lonely. Perhaps it's because you've been single for a while now, or maybe it's just the melancholy tone of the music in the background. You glance over at your best friend and Jungkook again, feeling a twinge of jealousy as you watch them make goo-goo eyes at each other.
You remember the past times when you were in relationships and how they ended, but instead of dwelling on the past, you focus on the present moment. You take a deep breath and immerse yourself in the movie, enjoying the colourful visuals.
It's not like you weren't happy for Jenna, on the contrary! She's had some pretty bad breakups in the past, so her being with someone she really liked was a good thing. Though it was also a little bit worrisome that this was Jungkook we were talking about. After all, while he had a lot of experience, he also had a reputation for being a bit of a player.
Even though Jenna and Jungkook were dating, you still had a bad feeling about the guy. He was ruthless when he rejected you in high school, so how differently could he be now? You couldn't shake off the memories of how he laughed at you that day. It was as if he took pleasure in making you feel small.
This made you wonder, what was it that Jenna saw in him? Was it his good looks? His charm? Or was it something else?
Nonetheless, Jenna insisted that Jungkook had changed, and it was hard not to believe her when she looked so happy in his company.
Only time would tell if they ended up being a good fit.

The next day, when you found Jungkook in your kitchen at 8 a.m., you were a bit surprised. Jenna was still fast asleep in her room, and it seemed her boyfriend was already up and about. You spotted him stealing your cereal right in front of your face and couldn't help but complain. After all, it was the first time you were actually speaking to him since high school.
As you tried to figure out why Jungkook was up so early, you started to notice the little tingle in your tummy, softly reminding you of the stupid crush you once had on him.
You could hear the distant sound of birds chirping outside and the gentle hum of the refrigerator. It was a peaceful scene, and you couldn't help but relax a bit as you watched Jungkook munch on your cereal.
"Hey," you complain as you walk up to him and grab the bowl from his big hands. "These are mine! Didn't your parents teach you not to steal others' food?" You continue, taking a bite of the cereal you took from him and scowling. You look around the room, noticing how messy it is. You see clothes scattered on the floor and empty pizza boxes stacked up on the table. You start to wonder what exactly the both of them did last night after you called it an early night and left the living room.
You notice that he's looking at you, his eyes betraying a hint of annoyance. Despite your protests, he insists that the cereal is his and not yours. "I don't care if it's yours," he says, "it didn't say your name so that's on you, little miss perfect.”
You're taken aback by his aggressive tone, but he takes the bowl back from you and retreats into Jenna's bedroom, slamming the door shut behind him. You can't help but feel a sense of unease as you stand there, unsure of what to do next. After all, this is your best friend's boyfriend we're talking about.
As you stand there, your thoughts start to wander. You can't help but feel a strange sensation in your stomach. You know that it's wrong to have these feelings, but you can't seem to help it. You try to shake it off and remind yourself that Jungkook is your best friend's boyfriend. You can't let yourself get caught up in these thoughts. These old feelings.
You start to pace back and forth, trying to distract yourself from your thoughts. You look around the room, noticing the decorations that Jenna had put up when you first moved in just 2 weeks ago. There are pictures of her and Jungkook together, smiling and laughing.
You can't help but feel a pang of jealousy as you look at the photos. You wonder what it would be like to be in Jenna's shoes, to have had a chance at dating Jungkook if he hadn't rejected you.
As you continue to pace, you hear movement from behind the door. You stop in your tracks, feeling your heart race. You wonder what Jungkook and Jenna could be doing in there.
Finally, after what feels like an eternity, the door opens, and Jenna steps out. You let out a sigh of relief, but you can't help but feel a little disappointed that it wasn't Jungkook.
You try to act casual, but you know that your past feelings for her boyfriend are starting to get the better of you. You try to push them down and remind yourself that he's off-limits, but it's getting harder and harder to resist.

Sometimes it's tough when you think back to moments in the past where you may have missed an opportunity to share something with someone.
Like right now, sitting in class—not listening to Professor Park—you wish you had told Jenna about your past crush on Jungkook. Perhaps if you had shared your feelings with her, things would be different now. You may be able to have an excuse not to be in the same room as them sometimes, and maybe you wouldn't have it as bad.
However, you can't change the past, and it's important to focus on Jenna as a friend, especially since she's the only friend you had at college besides Hoseok, your lab partner. If you accidentally let your past crush on Jungkook slip past your lips just once, you could kiss your affordable, near-campus apartment goodbye.
Not only would it be uncomfortable for you, but it would also make things awkward every time Jungkook came over.
“You totally aced that” you smile at Hoseok as you comment about his presentation in class today. “You're too nice, I'm sure yours will be great too” he compliments you back, placing his books in his locker and heading out to the busstop with you. You both chat about your classes, sharing your thoughts on todays subjects and bickering about your professors. Hoseok tells you about an interesting article about clothing trends he read last night, and you listen attentively, impressed by the passion for the subject he's been loving since he was a kid; Fashion.
As you wait for the bus, you take a moment to appreciate the beautiful weather, feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin.
“What's on your to-do list today?” He teases, knowing what a perfectionist you can be when you have some spare time. From cleaning the apartment to meal-prepping food for the rest of the week—you've always hated sitting around and doing nothing.
“Actually, nothing” you shrug smiling, taking a sip of water from your bottle and sitting down.
“It's just me and my bed tonight, and I don't mean that in a weird way”, you say with a chuckle, trying to lighten the mood. Hoseok nods in agreement as you both take a seat in the bus when it arrives.
As you look out the window, you see people rushing in and out of buildings, each with their own story to tell. Perhaps they are successful businesspeople, entrepreneurs, or artists pursuing their passions.
You wonder what kind of person you will become in a few years, when you will finally be an actual adult. You imagine yourself having finished your degree in Finance and venturing out into the real world, ready to take on any challenge that comes your way.
The rest of the ride passes by in a blur of conversation and laughter. When you finally arrive at your stop, you bid Hoseok farewell and step off the bus. The cool winter air hits you, making you shiver.
You pull your fluffy jacket tighter around you, feeling a sense of contentment wash over you. As you walk home, you can't help but think about the talk you had with Hoseok. It had been a welcome distraction from the thoughts that had been plaguing you earlier.
Somehow, your mind goes blank, though, when you spot what looked like a black harley parking outside your home.
You dont immediately recognize the sound of the motorcycle as Jungkook's but once you see him taking off the helmet and shaking his messy hair, memories of high school flooded back to you when he used to talk about his dream of owning one of those.
It seems that he has finally fulfilled that dream and got his license.
You can't help but feel a little smile creeping its way to your lips. However, you also feel a tinge of annoyance as you realize that you won't have the apartment to yourself anymore, and you'll have to deal with their lovey-dovey behaviour once again.
You wonder if there will ever be a time when you can enjoy some peace and quiet in your own home without having to see the two of them kissing every two seconds.
As you walked towards the door, you tried to hide behind your sweater, hoping that Jungkook wouldn't see your face. But as you realized that the two of you had the same destination, you knew that it was a silly idea.
You continued to walk slowly and carefully, trying to be as quiet as possible. You knew that you had to be careful, but the fabric in front of your eyes made it difficult to see.
So despite your best efforts, you suddenly ran into something or someone, letting out a surprised "ouch" as you realized that you had bumped into him.
As you looked up, you couldn't help but notice his amused expression. It was the exact same one he had given you when he rejected you almost half a decade ago. You couldn't believe that after all these years, he still held the same demeanor towards you. It made you think about all of the things that had happened in the past 5 years: the friends you had made, the places you had seen, the experiences you had lived through. It was strange how life could change so much in such a short period of time, and yet some things remained the same.
You couldn't help but feel embarrassed - this was not the first time that you had made a fool out of yourself in front of him. You tried to laugh it off, but your cheeks were burning in embarrassment.
As he turned around and continued walking towards the door, ignoring you as he always did, you felt a wave of relief wash over you. It gave you some time to collect your thoughts and emotions before eventually having to face him once again in your home.
You took a deep breath and tried to think of ways to ignore them both for the rest of the weekend, maybe you could ask Hoseok if he was free, anything, honestly, to make you stay away from Jungkook.
-
You finally have a moment to yourself, and the music playing loudly through your speakers is the perfect addition to your relaxing bath. It's been a hectic few weeks since you moved in, too much happening at the same time; classes, annoying professors, the struggle of making new friends...— you've been looking forward to this weekend of self-care.
You've been too invested in the relationship between Jungkook and Jenna, actually youve been too invested in the memories that came up when you saw Jungkook around.
It was time to focus on yourself; taking matters into your own hands, you decided to hide in your room and make the most of your alone time.
So as the two lovebirds were busy preparing a homemade pizza in the kitchen—Jenna's idea, not Jungkook's—you hide in the comforts of your bathroom, tub filled up with warm–rose scented bath salt—water.
The moment you immersed yourself in the bathtub, you felt all your stress and worries melting away. You closed your eyes and let yourself drift away into a peaceful state of mind. You could hear Jenna and Jungkook giggling in the background, which made you groan.
After around 20 minutes, you turned off the music and took a deep breath. Feeling refreshed, you got up from the bathtub and wrapped yourself in a fluffy pink towel.
There was a soft knock on your door, and you hummed in response. You could immediately tell it was Jenna when she revealed herself. She smiled at you, and you couldn't help but return the gesture. "We made too much pizza," she said, "there are leftovers in the kitchen if you want some." Nodding, you thanked her and watched as she left.
Your thoughts then turned to Jungkook, again, you hoped he wasn't in the living room when you went to get the food. You didn't want to embarrass yourself in front of him again. You had already stumbled over your words the last time you saw him, and it still made you cringe.
You laughed at yourself, knowing how silly it was to be so nervous around him. He was your best friend's boyfriend. For God's sake, y/n, get your head out of the romance drama you made up in your head and focus on the important things in life!
Despite your thoughts, you found your thoughts drifting towards him more and more often, and you couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to be in Jennas place.
Finally, you made your way down to the kitchen and saw the leftover pizza sitting on the counter. The smell of tomato sauce and melted cheese filled the air, making your mouth water. You grabbed a slice and took a bite, savouring the flavour.
It's when you look up from your phone as you hear the guest bathroom door open, that you see Jungkook making his way back to Jenna's room in his only boxers, you can't help but feel your cheeks heat up with his presence.
But as you utter a barely audible "hi," you realize how insecure and shy you sound. You wonder why and how Jungkook still has this effect on you, even though you hadn't seen him in such a long time.
Maybe it's the way he carries himself with such confidence, knowing what he did, or how he effortlessly makes everyone love him. Whatever it is, you can't deny that he has a certain charm that draws you, and basically any human being, in.
As you continue to mindlessly scroll through your phone, you can't help but steal a few glances at Jungkook, hoping to not catch his eye and strike up another petty argument.
"Why are you still naked? Do you wanna catch a cold? Get dressed," Jungkook groans as he enters Jenna's room after cleaning up in the bathroom.
Jenna, lying in bed, stares at Jungkook with a blank expression as if to say, "What difference does it make?"
He knows that things have been weird between them lately, but he's not sure how to fix it. Jungkook feels like every little thing they do leads to an argument and then to make up sex. It's not the best way to communicate, but Jungkook doesn't know how else to get through to Jenna—He's feeling frustrated and confused. He's not exactly an expert in relationships, and Jenna seems to only want one thing from him.
Jenna giggles, clearly enjoying the attention from her boyfriend. Jungkook can't help but feel a rush of affection, but cant quite figure out if it was for her or for her body. As he watches her, her bare skin still glistens from their recent activities.
He sits down on the bed next to her and pulls her into his lap, kissing her forehead. "Don't you think we should take a break?" he asks, his voice low and husky. Jenna just grins mischievously and shakes her head. "Come on, Kook," she says, "I'm not tired yet."
Jungkook cannot help but feel a sense of annoyance at her persistence. However, he cannot deny that the moment is pleasant for him as well. Sex has always been a great escape for him, a way to forget about everything else in the world.
The way her hands roam over his smooth skin causes a shiver to run down his spine, and he finds himself giving in to her advances without resistance. The room they are in is dimly lit, but he can make out the soft curves of her body as she moves closer to him. He takes in the scent of her horrible perfume, a sweet and alluring fragrance that makes him gag.
As their lips meet, he feels a rush of adrenaline, and he knows that this moment was not the right one to think about feelings.
He has been wanting to break up with Jenna for a while now, as things just don't feel right, and he doesn't feel the way he thought he would in a relationship; happy, fun, beautiful.
It seems that every time he tries to talk to Jenna about it, she ignores him and speaks over him, completely disregarding the sad truth of their failing relationship. He has tried to communicate his feelings to her several times, but she always seems too busy or too focused on other things to give him the time and attention he deserves.
It's clear that their relationship is not what it once was, and despite only having been dating for a month or so, he knows that it may be time to move on.
It's a difficult decision to make—especially after he was convinced that she was the one—he knows is necessary for his own happiness and well-being. He'll talk to her, just not now.
-
"You're Jeon Jungkook man, you're supposed to be strong and emotionless, what happened to that dudd?" As Jungkook and Soobin walked out of practice, Soobin couldn't help but comment on how much Jungkook had changed.
Jungkook just shrugged, feeling a pang of nostalgia. He remembered the days when he was younger and had something to prove. But now, as a grown-up, he had moved past that "badboy" phase. He had a lot of responsibilities now, and he had to make sure he was always on top of his game.
Plus, he had a lot of people who looked up to him now, who saw him as a role model. It wasn't always easy, there were a lot of things he regretted, but he knew that he had to keep pushing himself, even when he didn't feel like it.
As they walked towards the locker room, Soobin could sense the change in Jungkook's demeanour. He was still the same guy, but he had grown up a lot in the past few years, and Soobin couldn't help but shake his head "whatever man, I see this girl of yours wears the pants in your relationship"
“Don't forget your fucking place Park,” Jungkook growls out. He was angry, and he didn't like the tone in Soobins voice. However, he knew that he needed to keep his cool, especially now. Taking a deep breath, he continued.
“What me and Jenna have going on is none of your concern,” he said firmly, “and if you can't accept the fact that I'm not the asshole I used to be anymore, then I'll gladly talk to the coach and get you to sit on the bleachers next match.”
Jungkook had always been a hothead, but he had been working on controlling his temper. He knew that being the captain of this team was important to him, and he didn't want to let his emotions get in the way.
As for Jenna, Jungkook knew that their relationship was nobody else's business.
In the end, Jungkook knew that he needed to focus on talking to her and break things off before the big match. He was determined to be the best player he could be, and he wasn't going to let anyone, including her, get in his way. Maybe there was still part of his past self inside of him with the way he was considering breaking Jennas heart, but it was for the better.
-
Jenna's voice could be heard over the speaker as she tried to guide you to where her laptop was. "Okay, so it's in my room, like beneath my pillows or something," she said and you tried your best to follow her instructions, but after lifting up the pillows on her bed, you still couldn't find it. You let out a groan of frustration, feeling bad that you weren't able to help her as quickly as you wanted.
Looking around in her room, you couldn't help but notice the cute decorations she had all over. She had pictures of herself with her friends, posters of her favourite bands, and even a little cactus on her nightstand. You could tell that her room was a reflection of her personality - fun, colourful, and a little bit messy.
As you continued your search throughout the room, your eyes fell upon the shirt that was hidden underneath one of her pillows. It was a plain black shirt, crumpled and creased from being tucked away. Maybe it was Jungkook's, since it seemed much too big to belong to Jenna.
You could almost imagine him lazily tossing it aside after a long day of practice, the fabric soft and comfortable against his skin.
After a few more minutes of searching, you finally found Jenna's laptop tucked away in a corner of her room. You breathed a sigh of relief. "I found it!" you exclaimed, holding it up triumphantly. Jenna let out a whoop of excitement over the phone, thanking you for your help.
“Great, now just open it and type my password. After that, you'll be able to see the doc I have open” she guides you through the phone, and you nod. “Then just take a pic of that and send it to me. You're a Saint y/n!” And with that, she hangs up, having to her next class. You hum to yourself as you try to type in the password.
Finally, after a few seconds of waiting, you're guided to what seems like a chat between her and someone else.
At first, you try to click away, but when you accidentally miss the ‘x’ button, your eyes suddenly wander to the messages. You start reading them out of curiosity, but as you go on, you realize that they're explicit texts to someone that isn't Jungkook.
The messages were full of flirty comments, unfunny jokes, and plans to catch up.
The more you read, the more you feel like the biggest bitch on earth for reading Jenna's private messages. You see a side of her that you've never seen before - she's flirty, straightforward, and... kind of a—you don't even want to say it but; a cheater.
As you reach the end of the chat, you feel a sense of disappointment and betrayal. You had no idea that Jenna was cheating on Jungkook, her boyfriend, and it makes you question the trustworthiness of her as a friend in general.
You wonder how long Jenna had been hiding this from Jungkook and what other secrets she might be keeping. It's a complicated situation and you don't know what to do about it.
You close the laptop and leave, feeling a mix of emotions - anger, sadness, disappointment, and confusion. Was Jenna really cheating on Jungkook?
Thinking about what you should do next you breathe out. Should you confront Jenna about it? Should you tell Jungkook? Or should you just keep it to yourself and pretend like you never saw it?
All these thoughts are racing through your mind as you try to make sense of what you just read. This wasn't good, nope, not at all.
-
As Jungkook stood in front of Jenna's and yours dorm room, he couldn't help but feel a sense of dread wash over him. He had been dreading this moment for days if not weeks, ever since he realized that he could no longer continue their relationship. Jenna had been what he thought was the love of his life for the past few weeks, but now he knew that it was time to move on—that he'd been in love with the idea of her, but not with her.
He took a deep breath and glanced around the hallway, trying to gather his thoughts. It was eerily quiet, with only the sound of his own breathing and the occasional creak of the floorboards disturbing the silence. A few students roamed around the floors, having come back from partying or the library.
He wondered what Jenna was doing on the other side of the door. Was she studying? Hanging out with friends? Or was she waiting for him, just as nervous as he was?
Jungkook shook his head, trying to clear his mind. He knew that he had to go through with this this time, no matter how hard it was. He couldn't keep leading Jenna on, pretending that everything was okay when it wasn't—Pretending that he loved her, when he didn't. It wasn't fair to her, and it wasn't fair to him.
Taking a deep breath, Jungkook knocked on the door, hearing a rustling sound from inside, and then the door swung open. You stood there, looking as beautiful as ever, and Jungkook felt his resolve falter. He opened his mouth to speak, but the words wouldn't come out.
"Hey," you said, barely smiling at him. "If youre looking for Jenna," you start, dragging "She's not home"
Jungkook hesitated for a moment, surprised to see you instead of Jenna at the door.
Taking a deep breath, he shaking his head lightly. "I- okay," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Your smile faded, and your expression turned serious. "Okay,"
As you turn to close the door, you notice his foot blocking your way. You look at him with a frown "let me close the door."
He bites his lip and lets out a sigh before asking, "Can I come in?" You glare at him and respond, "I already told you that Jenna is not here. Why would you even want to come in?" You can't help but feel a sense of frustration and disbelief at his persistence. You wonder what could possibly be so important that he would risk crossing the boundary you've set. But before you can voice your thoughts, his expression softens and he looks at you with a hint of vulnerability.
"I just need to talk to someone," he says quietly. Suddenly, you feel a twinge of sympathy and curiosity. The old funnt feeling in your belly once again returning, begging you to let him in.
You take a deep breath and decide to give him a chance. "Okay," you say, stepping aside to let him in. "Come in.”
It had been an incredibly long five minutes since you and Jungkook had found yourselves seated at the kitchen counter, surrounded by the calming sounds of birds chirping outside. You couldn't help but feel a sense of nervousness and shyness, as though you were 15 years old again, all because of Jungkook's intense gaze.
With time seemingly creeping by and the silence between you two growing more and more, you finally mustered up the courage to break the ice and whisper, "So? What are you thinking about?".
Jungkook took a deep breath before replying, "I came here to break up with Jenna." You watched as he chugged the coffee you made him, and your mind raced to make sense of what was happening. You tried to recall if there were any signs of trouble in their relationship, but no, everything seemed fine. Everything except for the fact that Jenna was cheating on him—wait did this mean he knew?
You wondered if there was someone else for him too, but you quickly dismissed the thought.
"I-huh?" you stuttered, feeling confused and unsure. "Why?" you finally managed to ask, desperate for an explanation. Jungkook shifted in his seat, avoiding eye contact. "It's just not working out," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. You felt a lump form in your throat, his coldness reminding you too much of the past.
You hesitated, unsure of what to do. You couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt for knowing something that Jenna didn't. On the other hand, you didn't want to get involved in their relationship. As you thought about what to do, you realized that you didn't really know Jenna as well as you thought you did. You wondered what kind of person she really was outside of your friendship.
Meanwhile, Jungkook's intense gaze was fixed solely on you. You could feel his eyes boring into your soul, but you couldn't bring yourself to meet his gaze. You were lost in thought, trying to reconcile your feelings of guilt with your desire to stay out of Jenna and Jungkook's relationship drama. Finally, he decided to break the silence.
"What are you thinking about?" He asked you, hoping to distract yourself from your own thoughts.
As you utter the word "you", you immediately realize that it might have sounded a bit weird. In an effort to backtrack and correct the situation, you quickly add, "I mean, not you, but what you just said."
Jungkook's eyes remain fixed on you as he hums and asks, "how well do you know Jenna, y/n?" You feel yourself melting under his piercing gaze. You take a deep breath before responding, "We met because we were both looking for an apartment, and we became pretty close very fast." You pause, thinking of how to describe her. "She's...," you begin, but he cuts you off. "Do you think she has a secret side?" he asks.
You hadn't thought of it that way, but now that he mentions it, you start to wonder. "I don't know," you reply, "but there's definitely more to her than meets the eye. She's one of the most interesting people I've ever met." In your mind, you're trying to give him clues to her cheating, but it might have not worked out hat well once you actually spoke it out.
As he rested his head in his palms and spoke, "She's a special girl, isn't she?", you couldn't help but notice the longing in his voice. You nod, unsure of what to say. He continues, "That's why I fell for her. She's beautiful, outgoing, and straightforward. But, as it turns out, she's only interested in sex and nothing more." He laughs, "I mean, I'm the same way, but Jenna is just 100 times worse at hiding it than I am. It's really a shame, because I thought there was something more there, something deeper. But, I guess it was all just physical attraction." He leans back in his chair, a look of smugness on his face.
As you look at Jungkook, you can't help but wonder if he really thought that this was funny. After all, he was smirking broadly as he broke the news to you. You frown and ask him, "You're not sad that you're breaking up with her?"
Jungkook just sighs and replies, "I don't want to, but it's just time to go our separate ways. We had a great run, and I'm grateful for the memories we've shared or whatever. However, I need to focus on the more important things in my life."
You can't believe what you're hearing. You mutter under your breath, "I can't believe this. You say you've changed, yet you're still the same jerk you were five years ago, Jeon." You feel a sense of disappointment as you realize that Jungkook hasn't really changed as much as he claimed to have.
“What do you mean?” he scoffs, tongue poking the inside of his cheek as he looks down at you with a sneer. You're suddenly hit with a flood of memories. It's like a movie playing out in your head. You see yourself in high school, surrounded by a group of people, with him standing in front of you as you asked him out. You remember feeling embarrassed and unsure of how to act. You thought you were being tough by telling him, but it seems like that's not how Jungkook saw it.
“You don't remember at all? How you rejected me and humiliated me in front of the whole school? A simple ‘no’ would've been enough.”
He feels a pang of guilt and regret. He had no idea that his stupid actions had caused you so much pain.
You can't help but feel angry at his words. “You're still an asshole,” you continue to somehow yell, sitting up from your seat. “And you deserved getting cheated on, you piece of shit.” You're not sure where the words are coming from, but they feel cathartic.
You're not the same person you were in high school, and you refuse to let him bring you back to that place.
Jungkook's face contorts with rage as he stands up from his chair. His eyes are flashing with anger as he glares at the person in front of him. He can feel his heart pounding in his chest and his palms start to sweat. He takes a deep breath before speaking, trying to keep his cool.
“You have no idea what you're talking about,” he spits out. “You think you're so perfect, with your perfect grades and your perfect face and your perfect parents, but you're just a hypocrite. You have no right to judge me.”
He continues to fume silently as he paces back and forth across the room, trying to calm himself down. He can feel his blood boiling and his head throbbing with anger. He takes another deep breath and tries to collect his thoughts.
"You know what? I'm tired of people like you. You act like you're better than everyone else, but you're not. You're just a bully. You think you can get away with saying whatever you want to people, but you can't." You reply
He pauses for a moment, still pacing. "I may not be perfect, but at least I'm honest. I'm not afraid to admit my faults and try to improve myself. You should try it sometime."
You feel a surge of anger in response to his words. “I'm not judging you,” you retort. “I'm just calling out your behavior. You can't treat people like garbage and expect them to stick around.”
Jungkook scoffs, shaking his head. “You don't understand anything. You never have.” With that, he storms out of the room, leaving you alone with your thoughts.
Only for him to bump right in Jenna who was casually walking into the apartment.
"What's going on?"
-
Jenna was crying on her bed as you sat next to her, passing her another tissue. "He's such an asshole," she said, her voice cracking with emotion. You wanted to comfort her, to tell her that everything would be okay, but you knew that she wasn't the best in the relationship either.
After a moment of silence, you spoke up. "Jenna, I know it hurts right now, but maybe this is for the best. You deserve someone who treats you with respect and kindness, not someone who makes you feel like this."
Jenna nodded, wiping away her tears. "I know you're right, but it still hurts so much."
You put your arm around her, pulling her close. You could feel the warmth of her body through your clothes, and the scent of her strong perfume filled your senses. "I'm here for you, Jenna," you whispered softly. "We'll get through this together."
Jenna looked up at you with tears in her eyes, mascara running down her cheeks. "Thank you," she said with a weak smile. "You're so nice, y/n. How do you manage to always put everyone else first, but never yourself?"
You thought about her question for a moment, trying to find the right words. "I guess it's just the way I was raised," you said finally. "My parents always taught me to be kind and considerate of others, and I suppose it's just become a part of who I am."
Jenna listened intently to your words, nodding thoughtfully as she took them in. "I really admire your kindness," she said with a pout. "I often wish that I could be more like you. Unfortunately, my parents tend to brush off my problems as if they're insignificant. It can be so frustrating at times." She let out a deep exaggerated sigh and continued, "I can't imagine how difficult it must be for you to face the challenges you and your family do every day. You're so strong, y/n. I wish I had even a fraction of your strength."
Despite her words, you couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy about the way she had hinted at your financial situation. While it's true that you didn't come from money, it had nothing to do with the situation right now.
You awkwardly smile and pat her shoulder, trying to reassure her. "It might be a good idea for you to get some rest. Why don't you invite some of your other friends over for a sleepover? It could be fun."
Jenna gasps, clearly surprised by your offer. "You'd do that?" she asks, her eyes lighting up. You scowl "do what?".
"Leave for he weekend so I can have my friends over!" Jenna's face lights up as she starts to plan out who she can invite.
"Can you stay at Hyun-seok's place, or whatever his name was?" she asks, referring to your other friend. You raise an eyebrow. "Hoseok?" you ask, correcting her pronunciation. "I could ask him, but I'm not sure if he's available this weekend. Maybe I can just stay here-"
"Don't be ridiculous y/n!" Jenna exclaimed, a sly smile on her face. "This place is already small, we'd be too many if you stayed." You internally roll your eyes, wondering how you ever thought Jenna was a true friend.
She was the popular girl at school, and now it seemed that she was more interested in keeping up appearances, seemingly embarrassed to be seen with you. Now that you think about it, she never invited any of her friends over when you were at home either.
As you stand up to leave, you can't help but feel a sense of betrayal. It was clear that your friendship with Jenna had changed, and you weren't sure if it would ever be the same again.
"You're a sweetheart Y/n!" She yells after you, but you just bang your door shut behind you as you walk into your room.
-
The chairs at the library were uncomfortable but you had no other alternative but to sleep on them for the night. Hoseok, your only friend, was visiting his family and you were not particularly close to anyone else.
You couldn't help but feel a pang of loneliness as you thought about Jenna's fun night with her friends. The image of her laughing and gossiping with her friends while wearing facemasks and watching their favorite movies made you realize just how much you missed those carefree days spent with your own friends back in high school. You wondered why you weren't there with her, enjoying pizza and banter, sharing stories of your own.
But then, another thought crossed your mind. Was Jenna really a good friend? Was she always there for you, like you were for her? Or was she just using you, taking advantage of your kindness and generosity?
As you pondered these thoughts, you realized that maybe it was time to stop being so nice to everyone. Maybe it was time to start prioritizing your own needs and desires rather than constantly putting others first. It would be a difficult transition, but you knew that it was necessary for your own growth and happiness. And who knows, maybe in the process, you'd discover new friendships that were more meaningful and fulfilling than the ones you had before-
"Y/n?"
Jungkook's sudden appearance startled you, causing your heart to race with shock. You couldn't help but feel a shiver run down your spine as he stood before you, his piercing gaze fixed on you. You watched as he held a few books in his hand, seemingly unaware of the effect his presence had on you.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, his voice low and commanding. You straightened up, feeling somewhat intimidated by him. "Studying? What else does one do at the library?" you answered in a somewhat defensive tone, quickly snatching the blanket off you.
As you sat there, you couldn't help but think about how strange it was to be alone in the library with Jungkook. Especially after the events of yesterday.
“Really? Looked like you were ready to fall asleep just now” Jungkook teased. You shifted uncomfortably and let out a long sigh.
“What happened?” Jungkook asked softly, moving closer to you. You scooted back a bit, hesitant to let him get too close. "Nothing, really," you replied, trying to play it cool. “I'm just here to study, but Jenna was being a bit loud, and it's hard to concentrate,” you explained.
Jungkook didn't seem convinced. He looked at you with a concerned expression and said, "Y/n, I know you're not telling me everything. You can trust me, you know that."
"That's all it is, I don't know why youre-"
“I don't get you” he starts “you tell me I'm an asshole for being mean, and now that I'm trying to be nice to you, you reject me?” You feel a twinge of guilt. He was right, you did tell him to change.
“I'm sorry... I didn't mean to-" you shrug "to treat you like this just now"
Clearing his throat, Jungkook wakes up from his daydream of staring deeply into your eyes. He looks around the library, taking in the blank walls and the single window.
Breaking the silence, Jungkook turns to you and asks, "So... what's up? Did Jenna kick you out?" You gasp, surprised at his wild guess. "Uhm..."
Jungkook chuckles lightly and explains, "I walked past your place earlier and heard a bunch of giggling and music. Figured you and Jenna were having a party or something."
You nod. "But now that you're here... she kicked you out didn't she?"
You glance around the room, noticing how bare it looks. "Do you think they should redecorate?" you ask, disregarding his question and gesturing at the walls. Jungkook looks around and nods thoughtfully. "Yeah, they could definitely use some new decorations," he agrees, his hand finding yours.
"Y/n," he spoke up, concern etched in his features. "Are you sure you don't have anywhere else to stay?" His voice was soft, yet demanding, as if he already knew the answer.
You bit your lip, not wanting to meet his eyes. You knew it was foolish of you not to fight Jenna when she 'oh so nicely' kicked you out. But you didn't have much of a choice.
He sighed, his expression softening. "Well, you're welcome to stay with me for as long as you need," he offered. You looked up, surprised. You were grateful for his kindness, but also apprehensive about imposing on him for too long. You couldn't help but reflect on how much things have changed since high school.
Back then, you and Jungkook weren't even classmates. You couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy about the idea of depending on him for the weekend. "When I said you should be nicer to people, I didn't mean for you to be nicer to me, Jungkook," you sighed. "It's clear we don't get along, you fucked me over in high school, and let's just say I wasn't particularly nice to you either these past few weeks," you continued. "Let's just- there's nothing that holds us together: we don't have mutual friends or classes."
“But I want to help you,” Jungkook reasons, his voice soft and sincere. He takes a deep breath, his hand still resting on yours. “I know we fought the other day, y/n, and I get if you don't particularly like me, but sometimes we have to set our egos aside and let others help us. You don't have to go through this alone.”
You look down at your intertwined hands, unsure of what to say. “Last time I did that, it didn't really work out, now did it?” you hiss, pulling your hand away.
Jungkook's expression hardens, and he nods. “I'm not saying you have to trust me completely, but maybe give me a chance to prove that ive changed.”
-
As you step into Jungkook's apartment, a large dog greets you with excitement, wagging its tail and jumping around you. It takes you by surprise and you squeak in delight.
"Bam, house!" Jungkook commands, and the dog immediately stops jumping and obediently steps away. "Sorry, that's Bam, my puppy," he says, slightly embarrassed.
You take a closer look at the dog and realize that it is not a puppy at all, but rather a fully grown doberman.
“Puppy? He's huge” your eyes are still wide in surprise.
"Yeahhh" Jungkook blushes. "Well, the guest room is over there, we could order some food if you'd like-"
“I think you've done enough already” you stop him.
You pause for a moment before continuing, “I'm really grateful for you to let me sleep here tonight.” You bow and make your way over to the room he pointed at.
As you close the door behind you, you feel a sense of relief wash over you. Finally, you have a safe place to rest without people constantly shuffling around you like they did in the library earlier.
The room is small but cozy, with a soft bed and a warm blanket. You curl up under the covers after changing and take a deep breath, feeling the weight of the day slowly melt away.
You hope that Jungkooks didn't think you're a weirdo for rejecting ordering dinner but the possibility that your heart might start longing for him again, if he kept being so nice to you, was looming over your mind.
Perhaps you were already too far gone, so deeply lost in your feelings that it seemed impossible to extract yourself. It's possible that your heart has always belonged to him, and that you've held onto that love for so long that it has become a part of you.
Maybe you never let go in the first place.

Jenna: I heard you're at Jungkook's place
As you read Jenna's message, you couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. A frown crept onto your face, and you couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled in the pit of your stomach. How did she know?
You: I didn't have anywhere else to stay, and he offered me to sleep at his for the weekend
Jenna: you're a real bitch you know
Reading the text message, you feel a sense of confusion and anger welling up inside you. You can't help but furrow your eyebrows in confusion, wondering where this sudden change in tone is coming from. The fact that it's almost 3 am only adds to your confusion - maybe she's drunk and not thinking straight?
You realize that maybe sleeping at ex-boyfriends place wasn't the smartest idea, which only adds to the complexity of the situation.
You: You kicked me out
Jenna is typing
Jenna is online
Jenna is typing
Jenna is calling you
"You fucking bitch you offered to leave!" Jenna screamed over the phone as soon as you answered.
You tried to explain, "I wanted you to invite your friends over so you could feel better," but she cut you off.
"I mean, are you stupid?" she asked, her voice dripping with disdain. "Why would I want you there when my friends are over? That's just embarrassing."
As you listened to Jenna rant, you couldn't help but feel hurt. Up until this evening you had always thought that you were good friends, but now it seemed like she didn't even want to be around you.
After a few minutes, Jenna's tirade began to peter out. She let out a deep sigh and said, "Look, I'm sorry. You feel hurt, but let's be real, you understand where I'm coming from right?" Her bitchy tone makes you roll your eyes.
"It's okay," you said, feeling a bit numb. "I understand that you're going through a tough time, but you don't have to take it out on me."
Jenna was quiet for a moment before responding. "You're out"
“W-what” you stutter, trying to make sense of her words. You feel an emptiness in your chest as you hear her talk. “I said I'm kicking you out, you fake fucking bitch," she continues, her voice rising. "What did you do huh? Did you fuck him? Bet you liked it, you were always envious of us.”
You take a deep breath and try to stay calm. It's not the first time you've been accused of something you didn't do. You know that she's just trying to hurt you.
Jenna hangs up before you could reply, leaving you feeling a sense of disappointment. You feel a teardrop rolling down your cheek, but before you can wipe it away, the door slams open, revealing Jungkook.
You're surprised and a bit embarrassed, caught in a moment of vulnerability. "I might have eavesdropped," he admits with a hint of anger. You swallow hard and take a deep breath, trying to regain your composure. "I'm okay," you manage to say, hoping to convince both him and yourself that you're fine. But Jungkook seems to see right through you. "Are you sure?" he asks, his expression softening. Suddenly, you feel a sense of comfort in his presence, and you find yourself pouring out your heart to him.
"I don't know," you say, your voice shaking slightly. "Jenna kicked me out".
“Wait what?” he asked incredulously as his shoulders dropped. “Why is she doing that? Can she even do that? Isn't the apartment under both your names?” He asked, walking closer and sitting beside you.
You shrug, and pause for a moment. You think back to the heated argument and the feelings of frustration and anger start to rise up again. You take a deep breath before answering his question, hoping to keep your emotions in check. “She heard I'm staying at your place and got mad” you admit. “And yes, the apartment is under our name. It's just frustrating that she's trying to control my life in this way,” you add.
"what do you think I should do?” you ask.
Jungkook appeared to be surprised by your question, his eyebrows raising slightly. Tongue playing with his piercing as he just stared at you for a second or two. You could tell that he was caught off guard, but also pleased that you were seeking his opinion. "I think it might be good for you to consider moving out," he said sincerely.
You couldn't help but laugh at his suggestion. "Very funny, Jungkook," you replied. "Do I really look like I have enough money to live on my own? I depend on Jenna for so much."
"Well-"
Oh no, you know where this was going. “And I'm not moving in with you,” you interrupt him. You could see the disappointment in his eyes, but you had to be honest with him. “Jungkook, I know you're trying to be a better person, but this would be too much,” you clarify.
“I understand,” he says. “I just thought it would be easier if-” You smile at him, relieved that he is not angry with you. “I'll find a way,” you say. “I always do.” You sigh, taking a last look at the clock, 3am.
As you look at him, you can't help but wonder if he's really changed.
As you two sit there, staring at each other in confusion, you realize that this is it - the moment you've been waiting for since you were 14 years old. But rather than feeling butterflies in your tummy, you panic as Jungkook leans in, his emotions getting the better of him. You turn your face so that he only kisses your cheek, and you can't help but feel a sense of disappointment.
"Goodnight" you whisper, laying down and closing your eyes.
In the darkness, you can hear Jungkook sigh softly. You wonder what he's thinking, and if he's feeling the same sense of regret that you are.
You wish you could read his mind, but you know that's impossible. All you can do is close your eyes and hope that tomorrow will bring some clarity to... everything.
"Goodnight"
-
"Mornin'" You walk into the kitchen, still feeling groggy from just waking up. Last night, having left you more tired than ever.
As you look up, you're surprised to see not only Jungkook but also Kim Namjoon, who you know is the president of several clubs on campus, though you can't quite remember which ones. You greet them with a tentative "Hello?" and raise an eyebrow in question.
Jungkook, being Jungkook, takes charge of the situation and interrupts Namjoon as he begins to speak. "Sit down, y/n," he says, gesturing to an empty chair at the kitchen table.
As you take a seat, you can't help but feel a sense of unease in the pit of your stomach. Jungkook's serious expression only adds to your anxiety. "What's going on?" you ask, trying to mask the shakiness in your voice.
Both men look at each other for a second before Jungkook nods to the older,
Namjoon takes a deep breath before delivering the news. "Jenna got kicked out of college," he says, his voice heavy with concern.
“What,?” you manage to say, eyes wide in shock. “What happened? What did she do? Did she-” Jungkook is the first to calm you down, placing a hand on your shoulder, careful not to cross any boundaries.
“She was caught selling drugs,” he informs you, leaving you in disbelief. You try to process the information, your mind racing with questions. How long had she been doing this? Did she have a drug problem herself?
Jungkook must have sensed your confusion, because he starts to explain further. "Apparently, shes had been involved in selling drugs for quite some time now."
As you looked at Jungkook with watery eyes, you couldn't help but think about how much Jenna had meant to you. You wanted to protect her from anything and everything that could harm her at one point, but now, you just felt pity. "Did you know?"
"No" Jungkook makes sure to sound serious "I didn't"
You can't help but feel a mix of emotions. Part of you is angry that she would put herself in such a dangerous situation, but another part of you feels almost relieved.
You feel a pang of sympathy for Jenna, even if she was the biggest bitch to you these past few days.
You ask, "So what now?" feeling uneasy and fidgeting with your hands. Namjoon responds, "Her belongings are being picked up from her apartment, and she's being sent to a boarding school. She'll be safe and out of harm's way." You nod, relieved to hear that she'll be alright. Jungkook shakes his head and adds, "Rich people, man. She should have..." Before Jungkook can finish his thought, you interject, "Hopefully she'll learn from this experience and make better choices in the future."
You can't help but feel a tinge of sadness for your ex-friend, but you know that this is the best option for her. Perhaps being away from her usual environment will help her turn her life around.
-
"I think it looks good," you say, looking around the room with a smile. The space was small, but cozy, and you felt grateful to Jungkook for convincing you to stay with him until you found an apartment you could afford.
You glance over at him and see him nodding in agreement. "It looks cute," he says with a smile. You feel a sense of warmth in your chest, this time not trying to push it away but rather embracing it.
As you look around the room, you can't help but think about all of the things you still need to do. You make a mental list in your head: find a job, save up for a security deposit, and start looking for a new place. Your thoughts are interrupted when Jungkook speaks up. "All because I helped you," he says with a chuckle.
"Who knew you'd actually turn out to be nice?" You playfully punch him in the arm, grateful for his company and lightheartedness during this stressful time.
Things will be weird the first few days or weeks. However, it is a natural part of the process, and with time and effort, things will get better.
“You did help a lot” you note with gratitude, nodding. “I really appreciate it. I don't know what I would have done without you.”
"Are you sure that-" Your insecurities get the better of you once more, and you begin to worry if you might be a burden. However, Jungkook interrupts your thoughts with a frown and a stern warning. “I'll kick you out if you don't stop saying stuff like that,” he says with a hint of annoyance in his voice.
He walks closer to you and playfully pinches your side, his nose scrunching up in the way you'd always found so adorable. You smile, feeling a sense of safety and comfort in his presence.
"Fine," you giggle, pushing him away. The excitement of the moment is almost too much to handle. You look around the room and marvel at the fact that you are finally living with someone who isnt trying to constantly put you down.
It's truly a dream come true. You can't help but feel a sense of overwhelming accomplishment and gratitude for all the hard work and effort that you've put in to reach this point. You've gone through so much to get here, from falling in love and experiencing heartbreak, to moving away and even dealing with the complicated situation of having your best friend date Jungkook but even when things didn't go as planned and they broke up, you found a way to stay close to each other and build a stronger bond than ever before.
You're happy that you can look back on all those challenges with pride and satisfaction, knowing that you've overcome them.
“Uhh I'm really feeling hungry right now,” you begin, your stomach growling loudly. You turn your head to face Jungkook, who is already staring at you intently. “Would you like to grab some lunch together?” you ask, feeling a warm blush creeping up your neck at how close he is to you.
You can't help but notice the way his eyes sparkle as he mindlessly nods his head in agreement, and you feel a flutter in your chest.
"It's funny, isn't it?" you laugh, "how everything led us back together, like-" you stop to think "It's crazy to think that, out of all the people in the world and all the paths we could have taken, we ended up here, together."
Looking back, there were so many little moments that brought you closer and closer.
"It's almost as if the universe was conspiring to bring us together" Jungkook smiles, eyes on you and only you.
You smile, shaking your head. "You're such a liar," you say, and as you turn to leave, you feel a strong grip around your arm, stopping you in your tracks.
For a moment, you're unsure of what's going on, but before you can say anything, Jungkook's lips meet yours in a soft, unexpected kiss.
You're surprised by the intensity of the moment, but as you relax into his embrace, you realize that this is what you've been wanting all along. Jungkook's kiss is tender and loving, and you feel a sense of safety and belonging that you've never experienced before.
As your lips part, you look into his eyes and know that this is only the beginning of something really really special between the two of you.

Lost in the soft crinkling of flames, a young Jeon Jungkook hides—fearfully quivering inside his pantry. Heart racing with fear, hatred, all boiled up into his shaking hands. They had come to his house, tearing through it like it was nothing. Jungkook could merely watch as these suited men with their large guns trashed his home, breaking everything left and right while he hid, helpless. Utterly powerless.
Dad—his mind is spinning.
So he ran. Through the narrow alleys of the outer city. Stacked thing between tall, worn-down buildings—factories, apartments, grey smoke clouding the dark sky lit only by a gold shadow.
A sick feeling in his gut. A nasty premonition sending warning through his veins. He wiped the sweat from his forehead, pausing a moment to catch his breath. He couldn’t.
He couldn’t, not when sharp footsteps could be heard so near. He slipped behind a dumpster, hand pressed firmly against his chest as if it would muffle the pounding beats.
“You think you can get away with what you have done?”
Jungkook peeked out, eyes widening as he saw his father—on the ground, face covered in bruises with pure fear in his eyes. Unable to see much else. From the sounds of it, there must have been two or three others, but speaking was only one.
“I—I’m sorry” His father pressed his palms together, begging for forgiveness. Shame burned through Jungkook’s cheeks as he watched his father lay on his stomach, reaching for the shoes of the man who addressed him. “Forgive me, sir”
“Taehyung-ah” The voice addressed someone else, “Is this him?”
No response was heard. A moment passed. Seemingly, the slowest couple seconds Jungkook had ever lived.
And then there were gunshots. Jungkook shoved the side of his hand in his mouth, biting down as screams overtook him. Tears poured down his face—he couldn’t watch. He hugged his knees to his chest, sliding down the rough walls.
He heard the man spit on his father. He waited until the right moment before peering over the side one last time to see who it was.
He didn’t recognize the man. It was too dark to see his face but there was a vicious hate in his eyes. An anger that elicited fear from any who saw. His eyes diverted then to a younger boy by his side, trembling as he clung to the man’s sleeve.
“Hyung stop, please” The boy, clearly traumatized, was balling. “Let’s go home hyung”
The man smirked, dusting himself off before he lifted the younger boy into his arms, planting a kiss on his cheek.
“Yes, let’s go home now, Taehyung”
-
The precinct was dimly lit. A sickly sheen reflecting from grimy tiled floors, walls with peeling paint, haphazard desks, stacks of manilla files. At this late hour, only a few officers remained, the stench of tobacco making your nose scrunch.
Jungkook ignored their disrespectful ogles. That Jeon, lucky fucker—pretty girl in cuffs tonight. He hovered his palm over the small of your back as though he were shielding you from their judgement.
You didn’t want his protection.
The interrogation room had a deadening silence. Your mind scrambling, attempting to piece together your next play. Your next lie.
A large, mirrored wall stared back at you—face to face with your opponent for the night. Could you keep it together? Or would you let Jin tear you apart from beyond the grave?
Jungkook’s fingers danced on the back of your neck, making you shudder. Unconsciously you arced your back to his touch, shocks down your spine as he unclipped your choker. He held it in his palm for a moment. The annoyed look in those dark eyes of his, as his fingers traced over the diamonds.
“Are these real?” You knew your answer would only piss him off, so you said nothing. Instead he took a seat across from you. A small pile of documents in front of him.
In front of you was a small machine. A polygraph. Jungkook placed the sensors on the inside of your wrist, ignoring the way you trembled at his cold touch. He was being careful. Your tears had the effect you had hoped. You could tell. His small gestures—your sadness made him uncomfortable. Stepping away, he observed you carefully.
“Did you know Jin was seeing someone?”
Typical Jeon Jungkook, you mused. To the point. No bullshit. Except you weren’t prepared. His questionrang in your ears. He was seeing someone.
“I didn’t” You said it, because it was true. Thinking back to the night. The kiss that had been years in the making. The kind of thing that inspired song—filled childish dreams. The kiss that wakes the princess up from a poison slumber. Instead, Jin’s kiss pulled you into his nightmare.
Jungkook bit back a smirk.
“Who?” Your voice was embarrassingly hoarse. Jealousy lacing every word.
You knew Jungkook must be enjoying watching you suffer. You’d be damned if you’d give him the satisfaction. Your nails were digging into your palms—the pain distracting from the pulsing hopelessness beating through your veins.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?”
This was a game. It had to be. You didn’t know how—you didn’t know why. Somehow Jin was still fucking with you. Would he really have hidden something like that from you? A relationship. Had he loved them? Had he loved you? He said he did. Over and over and over again. You wondered if the meaning had faded.
Jungkook motioned to the document, “Namjoon didn’t want to force you into this marriage. Seokjin signed over Kim Enterprises to Namjoon in exchange for a promise of your engagement to Kim Taehyung, as well as control of Nexus—which is your mother’s company—right?”
The trick in poker, Jin had said—never let them know what you’re thinking.
Use pain. Focus on the most painful sensation in your body. It wipes your face of your real thoughts.
“I did not” The polygraph twitched.
“Interesting. Because all of these things combined give you a lot of motive to want Seokjin gone” Jungkook finally took a seat in front of you. “I wouldn’t blame you. They ruined my life too. Stole everything from me”
You stayed quiet. Jungkook was a new opponent. You weren’t familiar with how he played, yet.
“They killed my dad, ten years ago. Your mom disappeared too, didn’t she?”
Ten years ago. No bodies were found. No deaths declared. No explanation nor closure. Jin was there for you then, arms wide open to accept you in. Later the same year, Taehyung was sent away. You moved in immediately. You never asked why. You assumed it was what your mother would have wanted. The Kim’s took care of you, nursed you back to life. Jin, especially. He had always loved you so much.
Jin was seeing someone.
“Ever wondered what really happened to her?”
Your eyes were watery. Red with anger. You stared at him with hatred seething through your teeth.
“I know what happened to her”
The polygraph twitched. Jungkook grinned.
“Maybe we can help each other out then”
“Hi princess”
Jungkook released you shortly after. Walking out of the precinct, hands rubbing against the raw imprints of the cuffs, you saw a white sports car. Standing by the door with a dozen roses in his hand, was Taehyung.
Smiling softly, he welcomed you. He really was extremely attractive, eyes so magnetic you simply couldn’t look away. Pulling you into his space. He gave you a light hug—respectful yet comforting.
Jin died. He’s dead. “I need to go home,”
He pressed a finger to your lips. “I know” Is all he said. His eyes sparkled as he let his lips graze your forehead. “I can’t imagine what you’re going through”
Your heart pulsed. Taehyung had always been selfless. You crumbled into his kindness. Resting your face against his chest. Alone—the ungodly hour. The parking lot of the precinct. The faint sound of crows on the horizon.
“I missed you” He exhaled, meeting your gaze. “You have no idea how bad I missed you, princess”
The petname stung. You wondered if it always would. For Taehyung, you were his princess. For you, you were Jin’s. His princess, his love, his everything.
Because Taehyung hadn’t been here. He left you.
“If you missed me, why didn’t you just come home?” Your voice was shaking. “You never called. Never wrote. You even missed the funeral”
Taehyung let the roses fall from his hand. Gently he stroked your back, swaying your body side to side.
“I promise I will tell you everything, but right now just let me hold you”
The moment retreated into silence. Nothing but the slight swing of your hips. Taehyung’s hands explored your back, stroking you gently. His steady heartbeat lulling you into a sense of ease. He kissed the top of your head, humming softly.
After some time, Taehyung cupped your cheek. You looked at him questioningly.
“Let’s get you home”
Yoongi arrived in the precinct the next morning. His eyes crusty, dark circles from the night he lay away—in front of his computer digging for the truth. He was obsessed. It occurred to him how pathetic he was being. An ex-boyfriend trying to prove his girlfriend’s fiancée was no good. He couldn’t help it. He wasn’t ready to let you go.
From his understanding, Park Jimin was a practicing psychologist. His age matched Taehyung’s—meaning the plausibility of Taehyung simply going under an alias was still there. He had no way to connect Park Jimin to the Kim family—at least not publicly.
But Yoongi had seen one too many serial killer movies. He thought of how brilliant it could be for someone to kill the only living person who knew what Kim Taehyung looked like to take his place. Whether he was right or not, he needed you to be safe. You were currently off with this man doing who knows what—the thought alone disgusted him.
He wanted to tear all the tiny fingers off that wretched heir. He wanted to burn him into the ground.
“Min Yoongi” The detective arrived in the room where he sat, anxiously tapping his foot against the floor. “You wanted to see me?”
“Hi sir—yes, you’re Jeon Jungkook right? The detective investigating Kim Seokjin’s murder?”
Jungkook nodded slightly.
“I was wondering if you had information on Kim Taehyung” Yoongi gulped, pulling out his phone. He slid it over to Jungkook who looked at the screen skeptically. “That man—that’s Park Jimin. But—” His voice was a stuttering mess. But Jungkook deduced what he was trying to say.
“This is Kim Taehyung” Jungkook grumbled. “Interesting”
“I couldn’t find a connection. I was hoping maybe you would be able to use police resources to see? I’m just worried. He could be Jin’s killer”
Jungkook took a seat, pulling out his laptop. After scrolling for some time he paused. Chewing his lip.
“Who else have you told about this?”
Yoongi shook his head. “N-no one, I noticed it yesterday. He has a tattoo that I don’t think he should have if he was really Kim Taehyung because Taehyung wasn’t there when his mom died and Y/n said that—”
Jungkook held his hand up, “Breathe” He instructed firmly. Yoongi gasped. His palms were sweaty. Eyes quivering. “Y/n—are you a friend of hers?”
Yoongi’s movements stilled. “Um, kindof.”
“Ah, so you were fucking her” Jungkook folded his arms over his chest. “So you had motive”
Yoongi huffed, “I wouldn’t be here if I had something to hide”
Jungkook hummed in agreement. “Well Min Yoongi…looks like you might be onto something. Park Jimin was a registered patient at the Children’s Correctional Clinic ten years ago. That’s when Taehyung left—isn’t it? It looks like they must have altered his identity to protect their family or something”
“I see…that makes sense, I guess.”
“Don’t poke holes, these guys don’t play around Yoongi” Jungkook warned, shutting his laptop. “They do stuff like this all the time. Digging will only put you on their radar.”
Yoongi nodded, thanking him for his time. He hopped into his car—googling Children’s Correctional Clinic on his phone.
He called the number.
“Namjoon” Hobi emerged from his room, nothing but a fluffy blue robe adorning his figure. Outside the window, the late morning sunrays of Paris glimmered through into the penthouse. Hobi never stayed in one place too long, but he made enough to have multiple permanent homes. He preferred the consistency. He had lots of things he liked to collect—he was a hoarder, if you will. “I cannot keep harboring a fugitive”
Namjoon sat at the piano, glasses on the rim of his nose, staring at the document in his hand. “You knew about this—and you didn’t tell me?” His hand was shaking.
In his hands was his mother’s will.
In his hands, was all he ever dreamed.
“He wasn’t exactly eager to share the information” Hoseok sighed, walking up to Namjoon. He curled his fingers around his shoulders, massaging him gently. “Took some persuading—God, you’re so stiff you need to relax. Stress looks horrible on you, Joonie”
Stepping away, Hoseok slid open a mini decorative jar, studded with little jewels. Inside was a small bout of white power. Taking the matching little spoon he poured a little bit out onto a tray. Reaching into his robe’s pockets, he pulled out a crisp hundred dollar bill. Rolling it up, he inhaled the powder quickly. “You want some?”
Namjoon ignored him, simply too stunned to react.
“Jin never got the company. I just never knew because he went to the will hearing while I,”
Hobi gave him a knowing look, “You need to forgive yourself. God knows she’s moved on. Honestly she’s better off for it, she’s killing it now”
Namjoon winced, recalling what he had done to you that night. It had all been for nothing—him crushing your spirit. The dirty deals he made with his brother the very next day, signing away things that were rightfully his—rightfully yours—without even realizing.
There could have been a different story. He could have gone to the will hearing. He could have had more faith in himself instead of stopping so low he needed to hurt Jin before he even had a reason. Maybe you would still like him. He would have learned to love you back. Maybe things could have been simple.
“He tricked all of us”
“That’s Seokjin for ya” Hobi sighed, walking over to the wall. It was decorated with a line of automatic rifles. No bullets, of course, but he liked to show off his collection. Reaching, he dismantled one. A personal favorite. A gift. Toying with the weapon in his hand, he smirked, “Greedy little fucker, that one. But Joonie I gotta ask, and you know I support you no matter what” He turned again. “Was it you? Did you kill your brother?”
Namjoon sighed.
“I don’t remember. But yeah, it’s possible”
The man at the clinic handed Yoongi a box. “These are all of our visitor logs from ten years ago. Hopefully that helps”
Thanking him, Yoongi immediately began digging through the files. He scanned the names of the visitors—until his eyes narrowed down—Kim Seokjin. So, he had been here.
Tracing the row with his finger, he noticed the patient Jin had come to see—patient ID 1230. Setting it aside, he pulled out another stack of files—room assignments. He located the patient ID, registered under KTH. Kim Taehyung. His roommate was patient 1013.
“Excuse me, do you know who I should talk to if I am trying to find someone who was admitted here?” Yoongi called out to the receptionist.
“Usually patient files are confidential, sir. But when most of our patients grow too old for our facility, they get transferred to another luxury facility, The Rose House.
“Perfect, thank you so much”
Everything reminded you of him.
The same steps you used to fall down. He’d reach out his hand, pull you up, not letting go until you’d stop crying. Your room—the doorway in which he would come in, leaning against the frame as he would ask you about your day. His room, where you would sneak into at night, snacks in your hand, getting high under the stars.
The bathroom where you stared at your own face. Instead, you saw him. Smiling. As he would place the choker around your neck. I got you this. Happy birthday, princess. Diamonds suit you. You gasped—turning the sink on. Letting it fill to the rim. You ducked your head down, letting the cool sensation cover your face.
You held your breath.
You won’t lose me, ever.
This was all your fault. Wasn’t it?
“Y/n!”
Dizzy—you blinked as a hand pulled you back. It was Taehyung, eyes quivering with worry.
“What the fuck” He mumbled, grabbing a towel, and wiping your face. You sighed, helplessly. The last thing you wanted was a confrontation. It was just something you liked to do—it helped you clear your mind. God knows what Taehyung thought he was walking in on.
Taehyung stared at you, dabbing your wet skin.
“You’re hurting” He said quietly. “I can see it in your eyes”
Stopping his movements, you shook your head. “I’m alright, Taehyung. Go back to sleep”
Taehyung pouted. You smiled immediately, remembering how bratty he used to be. He would hate seeing you sad—always wanting to see you smile.
“I honestly can’t sleep” He confessed, setting the towel aside. “It feels strange, being back”
You understood. Ten years was a long time—specifically to be the age Taehyung had been gone for. He was a little kid, and now he was a man. If you had met him on the street you probably wouldn’t have even recognized him.
“Do you wanna sleep in my room? I don’t really mind. It’s pretty fucking big” You chuckled. Taehyung gave an eager smile, nodding quickly.
“That would be great, noona” You scrunched your nose in distaste. Taehyung giggled. “No? No noona? Alright I’ll just stick to princess Y/n” He poked you playfully.
You rolled your eyes, pinching his cheek fondly.
Guns. Guards. Yoongi shuddered nervously as he stared at the facility gate. It looked less like a hospital, more like a resort. He would expect nothing less for the Kim prince.
“I’m here to see Kim Taehyung” The words left his mouth before he could even process them.
“Right this way” Yoongi exhaled in relief. He followed the receptionist into the space. Palm trees all around. A group doing yoga. Another painting flowers. Some people simply meditating on their own.
Not a bad set up. Yoongi mused.
“Mr. Kim isn’t in this wing” The receptionist noticed Yoongi looking around, confused. “We keep extreme cases in the basement”
The basement. He followed the receptionist down a dark series of stairs. Opening the door, he squinted. The white light was nauseating. Slick like a hospital, nurses scurrying about. The rooms were glass. Walls plain.
Just looking at it made him feel crazy.
“Don’t worry, they can’t see you” Yoongi stared at the patients, each in their own space, some crying, some screaming, some staring aimlessly into space. “They’re treated well. Get to go outside, supervised, at scheduled times. They eat, sleep. See their doctor. All from rich families so, money serves them good”
They halted at the end of the hall. Yoongi peered into the room. A man sat on the bed, legs crossed casually, reading a book.
Yoongi’s eyes widened. The resemblance to his mother was uncanny.
“Buzz if you need anything” The receptionist walked away. Gulping, Yoongi carefully opened the door.
The man’s eyes shifted in his direction. Carefully he set the book down.
“T-Taehyung?”
He stared at Yoongi for a while. As though he was trying to figure out who he was. Finally, a smile crawled onto his face.
“Ding ding ding” His grin widened, “We have a winner”
You stared at yourself in the mirror. Fingers tracing the lacey ends of the stockings as you pulled them up to the top of your thighs. The small floral pattern, dainty and delicately crafted, fit for an angel.
Your lips quivered at the irony.
Jin had bought it for you. Jin had bought a lot of things for you. Gifts or on request. He never denied you of anything material thing you could ever want.
The bathroom was cold, as the stocking did little to subdue the goosebumps running up and down your legs. You shivered, reaching for your lip gloss—the final touches.
Taking a deep breath, you exited the bathroom. Your long white stilettos knocking against the tile. There was less light in the room, only the dim halo from your bedside lamp.
Taehyung sat on the bed, thighs spread, leaning back against his wrists—waiting for you, patiently. He suggested a nice dinner. The two of you had gotten to know each other a little better. From what you could gather he was very observant. A great listener, and an amazing person to get comfort from.
“You look…amazing” Of course—that had been your intention. Taehyung wanted to talk—but you were tired of talking. He made you feel good. He made you feel seen.
Taehyung himself looked delectable—white shirt tucked into tight black jeans. Approaching him you ran your fingers through his hair.
“You clean up real nice yourself”
He traced the strap on your shoulder. You could see the way his Adam’s apple bobbed as he gulped. Your hands glazed over his thighs before you slid to your knees.
“Wait what are you—”
You flattened your palms, running them across his legs as you blinked at him innocently. His breath quickened, watching in awe as you stood up again, crawling into his lap.
“Something wrong?” One by one you popped his buttons open, not letting your eyes leave his. Your fingernails scraped against his chest, making him hiss.
“Princess” He warned, still not moving. You unzipped his jeans, hooking a finger into his belt loop before sliding back down to your knees—taking his pants with you. You kissed the tops of his knees, travelling up his thighs as he shuddered.
Your fingers fanned out over his bulge. Taehyung cursed inwardly. You wanted to put on a show for him. Wanted him to need you so bad he couldn’t take it. Because you wanted him. Wanted to feel him everywhere. Taehyung leaned forward suddenly, tilting your face up. Thumb tracing your lip. You stuck your tongue out, wrapping his thumb in between your glossy lips.
He watched you suck on his thumb obscenely.
“Stop” His voice was stern. He was not fucking around. He looked serious in a way that gave you chills. “We shouldn’t”
You released him. You were tired of being told no. What was the point of all the wealth—all the luxury—if you couldn’t have what you wanted? Was it so wrong—was it so fucking wrong for you to want to sleep with your fiancée? The man that your lover was forcing you to marry—the man who you barely knew?
“Please” You pressed your chest against his, pulling his face into your neck. His nose traced your jaw as he inhaled sharply. Hands finding your lower back.
“Please fuck me” Your lips dragged against his ear, making him shudder. Voice barely above a whisper. Seductive—as you rolled your hips teasingly.
You asked so nicely, there was no way he would say no.
A low growl left Taehyung’s lips. He immediately stood up, lifting you by your thighs. He tossed you down onto the bed, quickly climbing over your frame. Vicious—desperate—his lips found yours, tugging at them. Tongue piercing through, swallowing you in. His fingers gripping your legs, pulling them apart, nails digging into your flesh as he slotted himself where he wanted.
“You bitch” He breathed out, rolling his hard cock against you. “Such a fucking tease”
You mewled, wrapping your legs around him. The friction sending shocks through you. His touch was electric, grabbing handfuls of your ass as his lips slanted across your jaw. He scented all over your neck, nipping your skin.
“Here I am trying to be so good to you, but you’re such a little slut” You cradled his head against you, moaning out as he nibbled your ear. Heat pulsed through your chest, down between your legs.
“Yeah I am. And what are you gonna do about it?” You smiled against him, knowing he could feel it. You arced your back, allowing him to unzip your little dress. He slid it off you in a swift motion, tossing it aside.
Hovering over you, his eyes scanned over your body—licking his lips. His fingers traced your panties, slipping inside briefly. He grinned watching you blush—your wetness leaking against the flick of his finger.
“So wet for me. So needy—fuck” Immediately he climbed back over you, latching his lips to your chest. He kissed you all over—mouth open wide, sucking and tugging at your flesh. You gasped—legs failing in the air as he continued to trail his kisses down your stomach. Dragging your panties to your knees, he pressed his nose between your legs. Heat burned through your face.
You reached for him, grabbing a handful of his hair. He carefully licked your throbbing folds. Twitches overtook your body as he drank you up. Tongue slipping deep inside you. His fingers tracing your stockings, holding your thighs up over his shoulders.
“T-taehyung” You screamed, gasping loudly as pleasure seized every fiber of you. Abruptly he pulled away, causing you to whimper.
“Don’t” He gritted his teeth, “Don’t call me that”
You gulped, “What do you want me to call you?”
Taehyung seemed to ponder it for a while. “Anything just—not my name”
You would have questioned it more, except he shed his boxers. His cock eager for you. He towered over you, aggressively jerking along his length. You propped yourself up, licking the tip cautiously.
Your panties painfully jut into your thighs, but Taehyung lined his cock up with your folds. He let a glob of spit fall onto your clit before rubbing it all over. You panted heavily, sweat collecting on your forehead. Eyes clenching shut as you felt his tip burn into you.
“Look at me” Taehyung growled, reaching for your neck. He gripped it tightly, forcing you to watch as he pushed his length in.
“F-fuck” Your eyes rolled back. Pain shot through you, your legs trapped. Taehyung didn’t care. He groaned loudly, hissing curses as he bottomed out. Without another thought, he began to pummel into you. The slippery noises making you dizzy with need. His fingers wrapping fully around your neck, nose brushing against yours. The bed creaked under you. His cock twitching as he fucked. In and out. Hitting you deep in your core.
“Princess” He sighed loudly, lost in the sensation of your tight cunt, squeezing him for all he was worth “You don’t know h-how much I wanted this—how bad I prayed for this, Y/n—I always wanted you so bad. So bad”
His words sputtering as he began to pump you even faster. “Wanna fuck you all the time. Want you so bad princess—this is all I want. Wanna cum inside you, make you all mine—fuck—you’re all mine princess, you always were”
Wet skin echoed through the room. The feeling of his cock filling you up just right. Sutffing you deep before he’d slam his hips, fucking into you again.
“You wanted me to take you like this, just always looking so pretty to fuck—that pretty little dress you had on—your little games—just wanted my fat cock in this little cunt didn’t you? Didn’t you princess?”
He chuckled, tightening his grip on your neck. “Dressing up pretty for me. Begging for my cum. Go on, beg for it princess. Tell me what you want” Releasing his grip you gasped for air.
“Please cum inside me baby” You traced his face fondly, “You feel so good”
Taehyung smiled wickedly, “Yeah? Huh? You like this?”
You nodded, kissing him deep. “I love it baby” Taehyung’s hips jerked.
“Yeah you do. Fuck.” He sped up, eyes rolling back in pleasure “Take it. Take my cum—fuck—gonna fuck you so deep”
You moaned against his lips. He shuddered, grabbing your hips as he spilled inside you. Panting heavily, he buried his face in your chest. You too were out of breath, twitching with pleasure.
Taehyung kissed your shoulders, staying nestled inside your warm folds. He rolled over, holding you close. “You’re amazing” He sighed before kissing your lips again—this time soft, sweet. “You’re everything I dreamed of”
You smiled weakly. “That was really good Taehyung” You noticed him flinch at his name. “Thank you”
Taehyung kissed your cheek. “I can’t say no to you” His breath steadied, Pausing for a moment, he continued. “But we should have waited. You’re going through a lot. Now, I’ve loved you for a long time, I thought about you every day I was gone. But for you, this is sudden. This is fast. I understand that” He gazed at you as though you were so incredible, so precious, it made your heart melt.
“You were being forced to marry me” He cleared his throat, tracing your lips, “But I want you to want me. Want you to love me like I’ve spent the last ten years loving you”
What you had felt for Jin—it was strong. Overwhelming. Made you want to fall to your knees in defeat.
But Taehyung was here. He was the calm in the storm. The two of you were connected. And at the end of the day,
Jin was dead.
And you didn’t want to hurt anymore.
Yoongi couldn’t even believe his eyes. He sat at the foot of Taehyung’s bed after explaining who he was, watching as the heir flipped to the back of his book. There was a section carved out—filled to the brim with small white pills.
“They were drugging me. To keep me here”
“Oh my god” What the hell did he just get himself into? Yoongi thought about the test he could be studying for instead of acting like a maniac. It was your fault. You made him like this. He would only do these things for you.
Taehyung shrugged “Figured it out, eventually...so I stopped taking the pills”
Yoongi didn’t know what to say. Ten years. The thought alone creeped him out. Being trapped in a place like this. The kind of trauma this would cause a person—it was beyond cruel. They might as well have killed him off.
“Why?”
Taehyung blinked blandly. “I saw something I shouldn’t have. So they sent me away. Convinced me it wasn’t real”
Yoongi felt queasy. He knew the Kim family was fucked up—but this was bizarre, even for him. “I’m so sorry” Truly, he didn’t know what else to say.
Taehyung scoffed, “Few years ago, Dr. Park got assigned to me per my guardian’s request. Put me on new meds—the wrong meds”
A few years ago—Yoongi pondered, maybe around when Chairwoman Kim died? Could Jin have orchestrated all of this? Yoongi wouldn’t put it past the lying bastard.
“I guess using whatever you’ve told him, Dr. Park convinced everyone that he’s you” Yoongi confessed. Taehyung didn’t react. “He stood in for you at your engagement”
“Engagement?” Taehyung tilted his head. Did he not even know?
“To Y/n”
The name made his eyes widen. The book fell from his hands. Pills scattered everywhere. Still. Motionless, he stared at nothing.
“Sir” Jungkook groaned as an officer approached him. He hated being interrupted when he was focusing. He hadn’t heard from you—he wondered if you had considered his offer. Together he was certain he could tear the Kim family to pieces. They deserved nothing less, not after what they did to him, you, and who knows how many others. In his pocket was your diamond choker. His fingers traced the rough edges of the jewels.
“What?”
“Min Yoongi is here again to see you” Jungkook groaned, rolling his eyes. The last thing he needed was to waste time on a jealous ex-boyfriend of yours and his conspiracy theories.
Jungkook walked out towards the interrogation room. Stepping inside, he immediately noticed the another man. Tall, extremely handsome, messy black hair and sickly pale skin. Eyes thin, sinister. A face somewhere between bored and amused, Jungkook couldn’t quite tell.
Jungkook shifted his gaze to Yoongi, unphased. “What now Mr. Min?”
“Detective Jeon. Meet Kim Taehyung”
Jungkook inhaled as Yoongi went on to explain how he tracked the young heir down. He watched the man carefully. The man stared at him right back. He felt something tight in his throat.
It was a power play. The man was unwavering, but Jungkook wouldn’t let him have the satisfaction. So we meet again Kim Taehyung. It’s been a while.
When Yoongi finished his story, Jungkook simply shrugged “Prove it”
The man smirked, eyes dropping, scanning Jungkook’s figure up and down with intrigue.
“I know who killed your daddy”
Yoongi raised his eyebrows in surprise. Jungkook continued to glare at him, fists clenching. He did bear the resemblance. The twisted look in his eyes was a classic Kim trait after all.
Jungkook rolled his tongue in his cheek. This isn’t good.
“Yoongi, you and Taehyung stay here. I want you both under police protection. I will go get Y/n and make sure she is safe. Then we will figure out how to prove all this and arrest Park Jimin. Maybe he’s connected to the murder, maybe he isn’t”
Yoongi gave Jungkook a look. Taehyung tilted his head. “What murder?”
Oh. Jungkook tapped his finger against the table lightly. “Your brother—Kim Seokjin, was murdered”
Taehyung’s jaw clenched. “Hyung? He’s dead?”
Both Yoongi and Jungkook stared at him, unsure how to proceed. “Yeah, and right now the evidence points at Y/n—but I don’t really believe she is responsible”
Taehyung cleared his throat, “What about Namjoon? He’s alive isn’t he?”
Jungkook nodded and Taehyung let out a sigh of relief.
“You do know” Yoongi started, “That your mother is dead—right?”
Taehyung’s face fell. Jungkook glared at Yoongi, who bit his tongue. Idiot.
“I didn’t know that” Taehyung exhaled slowly. Blinking a few times, he looked up at Jungkook. “Take us with you. She won’t believe you otherwise”
Jungkook frowned slightly. He pondered a moment. The last thing he wanted to do was spend another second in proximity with a man that witnessed his father’s murder. The man who pointed his finger and caused it. But he had to be careful. He had to think smart.
“Fine”
Waking up in Taehyung’s arms was a dream. You felt light—weightless and free. He smelled like heaven, his warm body radiating onto you. Staring at his face, you observed his features closely. His eyelashes, his adorable nose, pouty lips. You remembered how he had a little spot on his face. Tilting his head to the side you searched for it.
Hm. You pursed your lips when you didn’t see it. Maybe he was still wearing some makeup. Taking his hand in yours, you began to kiss the pads of his fingers.
You saw his tattoo. Weird. You remembered Namjoon and Jin going together to get their family crest ingrained on their bodies. It had been a melancholy moment. A healing moment where you began to wonder if those two brothers could find love in each other ever again.
Maybe Taehyung got it when he was gone. He never did tell you why he never came back when his mom died.
You wondered if Jin would go visit him.
Jin.
Your heart began to sink into a deep pit. The screams came back to your ears.
“Fuck you—you liar” You screamed, hands trembling around the gun.
“Stop acting so innocent Y/n” Jin snapped, “You think I don’t know what you’ve been up to?”
You froze.
Jin let out a shaky breath, face red with anger “I was trying to protect you. That’s all I’ve ever tried to do” He stepped closer. Closer. And closer. Until you could feel him. Feel the betrayal in his eyes. The gun slipped from your hands.
“You would have taken everything I had” You growled. “You lying piece of shit”
“You don’t understand—Nexus is dangerous. You shouldn’t be anywhere near it”
“That’s not for you to decide!”
Jin slapped you clean across the face. Your jaw dropped, the pain stinging from impact—deeper in your chest when you processed what he had done.
“That’s enough” A deep voice cut through. A wave of relief crashing over you. Footsteps neared—they were hurried, angry. You shut your eyes.
Something shattered. Your eyes opened. In front of you a man stood, raging. Jin was on the floor, blood on his eye. Jin laughed.
“Nice of you to join us, Hoseok”

Everybody loved him. His face was plastered on everything space related you could imagine. Hats, tshirts, cups, dining sets, plushies, buildings, a space station for fucks sake, they even made underwear with his charming smile all over it.
No one complained about it though, because it was his face. Kim Seokjin. A beloved astronaut of the solar system.
One of the first things that caught everyone’s attention was the charming face underneath that helmet. Dark brown hair, kissable lips, eyes that just made you fall in love. He was a walking dreamboat. He was a part of a new class of astronauts and the handsome Kim Seokjin was already loved by the world even before he ever set foot outside the solar system.
But nope, if a handsome face wasn’t enough, the minute he was approved to head into space, it was hard to believe he was one person.
Scientific discovery after scientific discovery, improvements, theories, the whole shebang. In truth, from that alone you wanted to hate him. Mr. Perfect. It was annoying. Seokjin this, seokjin that, at some point you should get tired of it right? But nope, no matter how much you tried, as an astronaut yourself, you couldn’t help but admire him.
Not even just that, but you guys were close. No… not like that, he was just a good friend of yours. Yep, a friend, a great friend. Dare you say one of your best friends?
He probably never thought about you as such, constantly being surrounded by some of the greatest minds mankind has ever seen, you were sure that there were plenty of people he got along with better. You even saw it once.
A gala for all astronauts happened one day, you had been there, and of course, he had to as well. Surprisingly, for a good part of the night Seokjin was right by your side, you smiled, laughed, and drank together.
It was weird, before this night the two of you mostly hung outside of your work environment, he's been to your house, you’ve been to his… this was the first time you had made your friendship known to the public. Part of you worried about the press, the headlines **KIM SEOKJIN’S GIRLFRIEND??** But no, by the end of the night a group of other highly renowned astronauts, astronomers, and many other scientists were his company by the time you were leaving. No headlines.
As you were walking out you saw how happy they looked and you could only imagine the intellectual conversations they had that night. Honestly, you were just happy he spent time with you at all being the big shot that he was.
Part of you still always found yourself hoping for more.
Well, at least you did before it happened.
Seokjin remembered that day with painstaking detail, it was the worst day of his life after all.
You had made a discovery that made you so excited, you had bounced on the balls of your feet when you came up to tell him about your findings.
L/n Y/n… fuck even saying your name made his heart hurt.
You were on the cusp of one of the greatest discoveries science has ever seen. As an astrobiologist, traveling to different planets and studying its life was your job. Society had so far not found much besides a few plant-like species on a couple of distant planets, but intelligent life still remained undiscovered. You were about to change that, at least that’s all you told him before you were making your request to head up into space and check it out.
Seokjin hardly had time to say goodbye to you before you were in the rocket ready to prove if your theory was correct.
It happened so fast, so fucking fast. Seokjin was there… he watched the launch happen right there in mission control. He could never forget your voice on the intercom, you were so excited.
The entire solar system had seen the tragedy. Media coverage was expected with the claims you had made— details were mostly kept under heavy security. He was proud of you, you were about to truly change the world, he was already picturing the headlines as he was about to leave mission control.
L/N Y/N found proof that we are truly not alone.
He had a big smile on his face, right up till it happened. Launch was routine, you made it to the atmosphere and were all clear to jump. At this point, the most concerning part was over and he was about to leave…
That’s when the sirens went off. They were ultimately useless. What the world expected to see was your ship jumping through the wormhole, sailing off on an expedition that was about to change humanity. Instead they saw you enter the portal but space seemingly bending and twisting before an explosion. It wasn’t big, loud, or anything spectacular as one would expect, but it was as if the entire portal itself disintegrated and collapsed in on itself.
Seokjin remembers how quiet it was that day in mission control. He remembered the desperate attempts to reach you, hoping a miracle had happened and you made it to the other side. He remembered the panic, that heart sinking feeling knowing that the worst had happened.
It happened so fast too…
For a few days he just didn’t want to believe it, holding out hope just like mission control was. Maybe somehow you made it?
Well a few days after the accident a crew aboard a ship found a piece of your space craft. Hope died almost instanteously.
For a few years after that, space travel to that scale halted completely, everyone confused and terrified after the accident. Space used to be like a second home to Seokjin, but after the accident it became just as scary as it was to most people. A vacuum that wouldn’t hesitate to let you know who ruled.
It took awhile but after a thorough investigation they found out what happened. The details still were fuzzy, teams and teams of scientists tried their hand at uncovering the details, he did as well, but the mystery of the accident remained vastly in the dark.
The wormhole that was opened was unstable, the dark energy that was used to keep it open long enough to make it to the other side had dropped to low levels and collapsed in on itself. What they didn’t know was why that happened, why that wasn’t detected beforehand, and why hadn’t the incident resulted in a black hole if that was truly what occured?
None of it made sense. There was an internal investigation on everyone at mission control that day to see if there could have been malicious intent on clearing that Y/n was good to go through despite the unstable conditions, but it didn’t take long to see that that wasn’t the case. The records show that data matched ideal conditions. No one could really figure out what went wrong.
It took a while for far away missions to resume and it took even longer for Seokjin to eventually join back in on the missions. Your death hit everyone hard, the entire solar system grieved your loss, but for reasons that became too obvious after you were gone made it harder for Seokjin to just ‘move on.’
Everytime he walked into headquarters he would remember seeing your face, whenever he’d walk to the astrophysicist department, he’d think about the way you’d cheer for him anytime he’d leave for launch. You were always there in Mission Control watching, you were always there for him. Going back was too hard without you there.
The first time he went back to headquarters he had a mental breakdown when he didn’t see you in the lab. A bunch of new faces he didn’t recognize and none of them were you.
But eventually, his work on earth was not enough and he needed to go back out for field research. They were small missions at first, a trip to the far out planets’ moons, then to the neighboring solar systems, his furthest for a while was at the far out base nearly on the other side of the galaxy.
He didn’t like traveling too far, as much as headquarters proved whatever happened to you was a freak accident, each time he left home he feared he would suffer the same fate. Years passed, but you were always on his mind, sometimes he even swore to see you in mirrors and windows, he even swore he saw you walk into your old department, the door swung open and everything but as he rushed inside all he got was concerning glances from all the nameless scientists inside.
He had long been diagnosed with PTSD, it only coming months after the accident and was another reason he had been grounded for so long– he couldn’t pass the readmission screening. Lots of therapy made him realize these apparitions were likely just his mind still processing the trauma, as much as he wanted to hope you were out there still.
It was mission control that sort of “insisted” him to get back on the job and he knew that they eventually forcefully passed his rescreening. He was better than before, but not near where an Astronaut of his nature should be at. He would sometimes see you in empty seats reflected off the windows of the spacecraft whenever he’d launch. He wasn’t fine but he pretended to be.
Despite his instability on October 16th, 4122 all over the news they blasted the most basic details of his upcoming mission. A team of seven, him included, would be tasked with studying a black hole up close for the first time ever, Sagittarius A, the supermassive one at the center of the galaxy.
On launch day he was so nervous, too nervous really. The last time the news was this big, he never saw you again. It was a strange experience, he smiled and tried to be optimistic in front of the cameras and any interviews he had about the mission, but there was this sense of dread that wouldn’t leave him as he prepared.
Seokjin had tried to back out of the mission multiple times— he tried to tell mission control he was not cut out for a mission like this, but they insisted he go. He was one of the heads in charge of conducting the study and he was also one of the most experienced astronauts on the team— he really had no choice but to go.
Before he could even realize he was on the ship, “The Beyond,” and they were staring into the wormhole that was to take them straight to the center of the galaxy.
He had mission control in his ear telling him to calm down, they were monitoring his heart rate, but as they prepared to enter, his anxiety had gotten so bad and he started to shake so much that he had to get one of the junior astronauts on the mission to take over.
“Uh— this is mission control— Seokjin we’re picking up on an elevated heart rate— please confirm you’re alright— over.” He heard over the intercom as he tried to do the breathing exercises he talked about with his therapist.
“Copy, This is Seokjin, just nervous.” He faintly laughed and the rest of the crew joined in.
“How many times have you been out here, what’s making you so nervous?” Jungkook, the junior astronaut who took over for him asked.
Part of him wondered if he should lie or make light of the situation but as he stared at the wormhole he couldn’t joke about this.
“I keep thinking about her.” It was a simple answer, cut throat, but he was honest, painfully so. His heart ached so much and facing the very thing that killed you was almost too much to bear.
The only reason he hadn’t broken down was he had an image to upkeep and he couldn’t be one of the senior astronauts acting that way. He couldn’t drag the rest of his team down.
The mood immediately turned sour at the mention of you. Most of the crew onboard had been there when the accident happened— they all knew how close you both were.
No one said anything, there really wasn’t anything to say. Instead, Jimin, another astronaut on the team, floated over and lightly rubbed his arm.
“Alright mission control, we should be prepared for launch on our end.” Jungkook said happily and everyone started to head back to their seats.
“Beyond, take off will begin in t-2 minutes, over.”
That dread was horrible. It was so bad that even after they launched and were staring for the first time ever with human eyes, the black hole that we’ve been circling around for eons he still didn’t feel anymore at ease.
The whole thing had been broadcasted, mission control lightheartedly told them the emotional reactions from people all over the solar system and that those living on the moon base had taken pictures and videos of the whole launch process.
Everyone was in good spirits but Seokjin as they began to step up all the equipment. They were at a good distance away from the black hole, far enough away they wouldn’t be at risk of getting pulled into its gravitational field, but they got as close as they could in order to conduct their research.
That feeling, that sense of dread that he tried his best to ignore for the sake of the mission would not go away. It was only 4 days after their study started that he found out why.
EMERGENCY
EMERGENCY
EMERGENCY
The sirens continued by blare, mission control had started to break up, and the crew was frantic. The impossible had happened.
Only Seokjin had been awake at the time monitoring some numbers. That dread he’d been experiencing had made it hard to sleep so instead he occupied himself with the work he enjoyed, it kept him awake and his mind busy.
It was so sudden that Star, the A.I. program on the ship, had alerted him of an anomaly.
“Seokjin, there seems to have been a shift in the gravitational field.” She pointed out. At first he didn’t believe her, thinking at first maybe one of the instruments had malfunctioned or something had damaged the equipment, but as he looked out the window a horrible reality began setting in.
Seokjin had stared at the black hole for a while, trying to see if he had gone crazy or not. He’d been staring at the black hole for 4 days straight and he knew it wasn’t that close the last time he checked.
He’d gone ahead and got everyone up after that.
“It’s not just me right.” He asked everyone as they all sleepily rubbed their eyes and looked out the window.
“That’s strange— but we can easily set ourselves back in course. Hobi, Yoongi, try to see if you can move us back.” Namjoon— the official head of the mission ordered the pilots.
They both nodded before getting into position. Mission control had picked up on the strange occurrence as well and had agreed with Namjoon’s plan.
Everyone thought this would be a simple fix, even Seokjin had calmed down slightly thinking this was just one of those weird stories he’d have to tell later, but the minute he’d relaxed slightly was when everything went from strange to…
As they both switched to manual piloting and turned the ship around to try and pull themselves from the pull of the black hole, it seemed like it had different plans for them as the thrusters boosted the black hole’s hold on them only seemed to get stronger.
It was quickly concluded by the team, mission control, and their instruments that they were getting pulled inside at a rate that was increasing by the second. In that short time that it took for them to come up with a plan and act on it, the rate had exceeded what their boosters were capable of.
It didn’t make sense and while Namjoon, Hoseok, and Yoongi were trying to figure out a new plan everyone else’s attention turned toward the black hole out the window.
“Hyung, what are you doing!” Namjoon exclaimed, trying to get his attention.
They sat there for a while trying to figure out a plan as the black hole got closer and closer. The plans they came up with just continued to fail, and the more fearful or frantic everyone became.
The relatively lighthearted mood in the ship turned somber and desperate.
“Hyung, we’ll be alright… right?” Jungkook questioned. He and Seokjin had been sitting together on the floor, right below where the window was. He’d been relatively quiet this whole time, everyone not wanting to disturb anyone in case they got an idea.
“I’m sure we’ll be fine, someone will come up with something. I’ve been in a couple situations like this where the end seemed so close before someone got an idea at the last minute and we were saved.” Seokjin tried to reassure him.
He wasn’t lying either. Before your accident Seokjin used to travel so many times, he used to go on so many missions that there had been a couple times he’d been in tricky situations. He probably would have never flown again if that happened now, he already was strongly considering quitting his job when he got back to the home planet.
It was this thought that he focused on to keep him calm enough to assist the team.
“Good because I haven’t been on many missions yet. There’s so much I want to accomplish, I can’t die yet.” Jungkook tried to laugh, but he saw the tears that had started streaming down his face.
Seokjin hurriedly went over and pulled the younger one into an embrace. This, this hurt more than the impending doom they were facing, seeing their suffering hurt more.
Jungkook was so young too, he was only 25, way younger than someone on a mission like this should be. He was top of his class and graduated ahead of the original class he was put into. He was doing missions pretty much as soon as he became an astronaut and quickly worked himself up to be invited to a mission like this.
“My mom said a mission like this was too dangerous for me— I wanted to prove her wrong but—“ Every word was even more painful to hear. Seokjin tried to stop the pain, fear of a fate that seemed more and more likely but he couldn’t.
Eventually Seokjin and Jungkook joined the rest of the crew to contact mission control again, but their growing proximity to the black hole was intercepting their connection and they were only vaguely able to hear the sounds of panicked voices on the other end before they would get too fuzzy to understand.
No one had any ideas— no one could have prepared for a situation like this as everyone here knew what was happening was impossible. There was nothing anyone could figure out under these conditions.
As the team became more frantic Seokjin just turned to stare out the window once more.
Something that had seemed so intriguing a few hours before had begun to show its true colors. The glowing accretion disk that circled the sphere that looked into entirety. So many strange thoughts came to him at once.
He wondered what mission control might be seeing back at that moment.
Had the predictions been true? Had they managed to get close enough that they had started to slow down to those that were watching? Likely not, they weren’t that close yet.
What were the headlines going to say? Would the headquarters be the same after this? Would this be the final blow that shuts down the astronaut program? Were people going to grieve in the way he hoped? Would his family miss him? What was his legacy? Was everyone going to forget about him? Everyone is forgotten.
He only hoped the research they sent back to mission control would do some good.
What would kill them first? The heat, the radiation, maybe they would survive long enough to get the experience of being spaghettified? Probably not though, they weren’t making it past the event horizon. The last thing they would all see might be the blinding light of the accretion disk before being burned.
None of them could probably come out of this situation anyway. He wouldn’t be surprised if by this point they had all suffered a poisonous dose of radiation positioning. They probably wouldn’t survive long enough to feel the effects.
They were not making this, were they?
It was on cue that the sirens on the ship began to go off.
EMERGENCY
EMERGENCY
EMERGENCY
Mission control had tried to reach them but all they were getting at this point was static.
The ship was starting to creak because of the speed and the force of gravity pulling them in. It was obvious very quickly that it was going to happen soon.
Everyone was scared to move, scared one step would be the final blow.
Seokjin didn’t know what to think. He wanted to cry, scream, beg for mercy but at this point he knew no one would hear him. There was nothing, absolutely nothing anyone could do at this point. Not even a miracle could save them.
He took a second to look around at all the crew.
Kim Namjoon— a friend he’d met a few missions ago. A good leader that would be missed.
Min Yoongi— One of the best engineers he’s ever met. They’d been friends long before your accident. He was happy he was here.
Jung Hoseok— A pilot who could get you out of anything. The fact that he wasn’t able to get them out of this was truly telling. He was really a light on the ship.
Park Jimin— A lead researcher on the team along with him. Another long time friend that had been there for him when he lost you all those years ago. He’d never met a guy as smart and caring before.
Kim Taehyung— A long time friend of Jimin that he had recruited for this mission and had only met recently. An interesting guy who always had such unique perspectives on their findings. Seokjin only wondered what they could have found if this mission hadn't failed.
Jeon Jungkook— A kid who really shouldn’t be on a mission like this. They had only met recently, but someone he felt he needed to look after. That kid was really going to go places if the universe wasn’t so cruel.
These were the people he was to die with. While not everyone he had known for long, he hoped for a split second they might be able to see each other again.
The ship started to get so hot so quickly.
He wished he could have thought of something, something that would have saved everyone here from this horrible fate.
It was so strange how they got here. It was as if a hand had plucked them out of the void and was pulling them to the center. Nothing made sense, a death even his worried brain had not forecasted.
Seokjin looked at everyone again. It was almost too bright to see anything anymore, but for a second longer he saw them. He saw Jungkook, an expression that matched his age, a fear so genuine it hurt to look into his big eyes that sparkled more than the stars ever did.
He hardly remembered what happened next, or rather, he wished he couldn’t remember anything that happened next.
He heard a big cracking sound before everyone was being violently pulled out into space through a hole possibly.
He didn’t know why he was able to see it, maybe he died in that moment as well, but he saw as all of his friends were pulled into space, their bodies practically vaporized instantaneously. He hoped they didn’t suffer.
Space was strange in the fact that there was no sound, there was absolutely nothing. No scary noises, no dramatic soundtrack as they all met their end, nothing as grandiose as some would expect for a moment like this.
He couldn’t scream, he couldn’t cry for them, he was just subjected to the forces of nature as for some reason he was still aware and still being pulled further inside.
He zoomed past the event horizon, he saw space and time bend around him, he was sure he could see himself everywhere he turned. The darkness got bigger and the blinding lights around him grew fainter and fainter.
When would it end? When would he finally be put out of his misery?
He wished it was sooner, he felt it, his atoms all string into a single line as he was pulled even closer to the singularity.
Things were dark after that for a while.
The next thing he knew he was staring into the endless void, yet it wasn’t as endless as it should be.
Edges, borders? What?
Then a glow, a glow so similar to that of which one would turn on a computer— a very old computer at that.
Faces, there were faces staring at him.
Yes, he’s definitely died long before this. Was this the beyond?
“Seokjin… we’ve been expecting you.” One of the faces said to him.
“We have a mission for you.”
