Yuki-Onna!

My latest piece. Felt the winter mood, and decided to draw Letty. Ngl I quite like her, I feel like she's quite underrated.

Yokai (monsters) sculptures by Tsutomu Funabashi, part of the artist shop at Maison de Neko. Their current themed is “hyakki yagyo” (”night parade of one hundred demons”), and you can see here:

Nekomata (two tailed cat), here the beast carries the head of Taira no Masakado (a famous real person who saw his cut head somehow deified after his death).

Kudan (a kind of prophetic cow, looking kinda badass here, I think I prefer how Matthew Meyer’s one looks so confused)

Hakutaku (lit. ”white marsh”, known as auspicious Bai-ze in China)

vampire fangs that protrude when vampires get excited. yes this includes bloodlust but also just general excitement.

imagine a vampire who giggles so hard at a joke their teeth stick out and they accidentally start wheezing on their own spit. a vampire giving a speech and they're nervous and agitated and halfway through their fangs come out and they have to finish the speech with a very distinct lisp. nerdy vampire who is gushing on about a special interest and gets so excited they cut their tongue on a fang; they keep explaining train timetables through a mouthful of blood.
