I understand that this is the season of renewal, rebirth, and change. But..hear me out I would like to get off this roller coaster of emotions! Got a job, been doing pretty good, there is talk of a promotion, and then I was handed a eviction notice. Granted, we all knew this was coming, landlord's son is needing to sell the properties because dad and mom are in the nursing home. I understand, not mad about that.
As much as my current house has irked me, it saddens me that I have to let it go. This house was a starting point for me six years ago getting back on my feet, with a roommate that was like a mom. We encountered good times and bad times together. She lost her son and dad, and she watched me lose my step dad and others. But also, I lost her. She died in the house while my boyfriend and I were at work. My boyfriend was the one that found though because I needed my tax papers.
I understand change isn't easy, I have been through plenty to know that. I know all the people I have lost would want me to do better. But this hits different. I'm not scared, we're only moving like 30 minutes away, it's not that. I just feel melancholy about it all.

To maybe help elaborate not all trees are nice, there is the Stinging Tree in Australia where everything you touch causes so pain and itch. The symptoms are said to cause pain for weeks to months. There are certainly other trees where every part or at least most parts are toxic and/or are deadly.
Some little things I've learned over a decade of witchcraft:
If you are feel called to work but are tired/drained, sit outside. Take in all the energies around you. Nature can help charge you
Every witch does a little bit of a bunch of types of magic but sticks mainly to one or two in general. You usually won't be eclectic forever. You'll find what magics work best with you.
Never be lazy or cut corners with spirits. Always be respectful and always tell them to leave when you're done
When you see a plant or ingredient with a long list of properties, there are different things at play. Season of collection, the part of the plant, the health of the plant, etc all play a role in impacting which properties it will carry.
Don't call on spirits unless you have confidence and control
Be careful with sea/water magic. Get into it gently and slowly until you have the energy figured out because it can get out of hand quickly.
Adding a little pinch of magic into your breakfast can make a major difference in your day.
Your personal emotions/feelings over something will impact a work
Planting some plants is good, not only to have a garden, but the dirt helps cleanse you too. Get all dirty and muddy. It's good for ya
Not all trees are nice
The more you listen to your intuition, the easier it will be to tell it apart from your anxieties and worries
Incense is very easy to make which is why it's usually cheap to buy. But you can find a million tutorials online on how to make your own personal incense which is great if you want a spell to take effect over a while but also want to infuse the fire energy in it.
The more you work with something the better feel you get for it. Cinnamon goes in almost everything i cook and most of my spells because me and cinnamon just get right along
Your path is yours and no one else's. It will look like yours and no one else's
"no spam liking" stfu that's how i know my mutuals are alive smh
I'm with y'all. Altars can be whatever and where ever. For me, in my bedroom, I have a special spot and its just an antique roll top desk, but its for my baby dragons, my crystals, and mostly for soothing my nerves. My other altar area (where most of my pictures are taken), is the dining room. That fluctuates constantly because of what I need to do for the day or of I'm doing my journaling. But it's a space where I mentally set up so I can get stuff done, or my ADHD will come in and I lose focus.
Been seeing a lot of 'you don't need an altar to practice' discourse and while I do believe that can be true for some practices, it is not true for mine.
Altar building is essential in my practice. I make an altar anywhere I worship. I go on a hike and want to offer the apple I brought? Then the stone I sit on is my altar. I want to do some yoga in the park? I bring some food, some water, and maybe a crystal or two. My altar is the dirt and the grass. I want to dance for Hathor in my living room? I move the things I need to the coffee table and that is my altar. My altars are constantly changing and moving. I am always building and taking down altars.
Yes, you don't *need* an altar to practice. Yet, there are so, so many more altars than a permanent one in a room.
Do I have a permanent altar? Yes. I have many. Do I use them? Honestly, barely at all. My most commonly used altars are the ones I build for a particular need and then take down after I am finished. Most don't even last two hours.
If you feel the need to have an altar for your practice, don't be ashamed to have transient ones.
