So I think, I realized what has been triggering my anxiety. On top work, trying to move, April 7, is when my step dad passed away. He treated me like I was one of his girls, raised me, taught me how to drive, fix irrigation systems, drive tractors, showed me how to work hard and be a good person, but most importantly...he showed me love.

It's been three years, but it doesn't hurt any less. I miss him very much!

I Made A New Icon For My Main Blong And.... I Don't Think I Like It. I Think It Came Out Well And I Feel

I made a new icon for my main blong and.... I don't think I like it. I think it came out well and I feel proud of it, but I'm still trying some new things with my style and how to best represent myself and I think maybe this.... is not it lol. But worth sharing anyway!

A historic time period one sound fascinating!!

I really want to create my own tarot deck but I don’t know what theme I want to do.

Post apocalyptic

Fantasy and use the elements as different worlds and magic systems

My historical favourite time periods

Folk magic but it’s things that relate into my practice that aren’t common thing to notice like smoke or needle and thread

I am glad that I started back to drawing and writing that I can finally do the things I want to do lol

Glad you were able to meet some of your needs today :)

Some, my anxiety is still a little high, but I'm going to do some dishes, make dinner, and do some journaling. Hopefully that will help.

I'm feeling better but not much got done. But I'm showered, dressed, had crochet talk, eating a quick snack. I need to get these damn dishes done.

I'm struggling with my anxiety today, I'm trying to do small manageable tasks, with my witchy ambience music, but it's not quite helping. I do have my asks and messages open if people want ask or talk about something. I mean witchcraft is a topic, but I also enjoy journaling, bullet journaling, crocheting, or whatever tickles your fancy. I just need help getting through some house work.

Do you know any good crochet tutorials? :) I always seem to fuck up the rows(?) and like, I'll start with 15 stitches, and next thing you know I've somehow managed to crochet less and less stitches as each row goes on. :")

I don't have any good ones off the top of my head, when I first started crocheting, Youtube was my go to. But also, I practiced with books like this...no frills, there might be some harder stitches in some, but I liked books like that because it gives you the count in () at the end of the step. So like if you needed 6 d double crochets it would like (6 dc count) or something similar.

It also depends on what I'm doing readings for. Basic 1 to 5 cards, I'm good. If it's emotional or a more complicated spread, I may not last the whole hour.

Hey guys, help me be reasonable about something

Run out of juice: can't make the connections any more, get magical fatigue, feel disconnected or turned off

Continuously: one reading after the other, or a very long spread, with short breaks or no breaks.

(if you voted, pls consider rebageling!)

Some of the research I have been doing, has been revealing some interesting results. The connection between my ancestor Mikael and I is interesting and sort of complex.

At the base of it all, it's a spiritual attachment. Our emotions are separate, and I am aware of how he feels during certain situations. And under stressful situations, I can choose to fully channel him. I rarely do this, because my posture, tone, attitude, etc. changes due to Mikael. Mikael is a no bullshit kind of man, I mean he's a 800 year old mercenary, I expect nothing less. When it's like this the best way I can describe it like Eddie Brock and Venom. I'm aware with my hands on stand by, but he is very much present.

Some Of The Research I Have Been Doing, Has Been Revealing Some Interesting Results. The Connection Between

Now, most of the time it's just communication via dreams and automatic writing, and he can communicate through channeling as well. This isn't a 24/7 occurrence, it is tiring and I have to keep snacks on deck. For the clearest results, I do need to be in a calm/relaxed state.

When I was in the kitchen, I did partial physical channeling. Mostly to help me be ambitextris, I'm right handed, he's left handed, and he would help give me a boost of energy if needed. But that would be taxing for the both of us, and we both would need a rest. Also, I noticed some mental perks. Other family members that don't believe in the esoteric, noticed I have a calmer, more serious demeanor, but also great at giving sound advice.

I truly believe that the trauma and stress with my ex husband and his stroke, heart attack, then two more strokes after that, really stunted my witch/spiritual growth while forcing me to grow and adapt physically. And of course, my mental health took a nose dive.

But, I was working on/researching lucid dreaming, dream walking, and ancestor work. Also I was testing for clairsenses. I had such zeal and joy. I lost myself along the way.

Sooo...I'm Just Throwing This Out To The Void

While working on my Grimoire and drawing inspiration from other Tumblrs, I'm trying to go back to my roots and where this journey truly began. It seriously started with my search of my family history. Again, goes back to Assassin's Creed. The protag Desmond, is essentially strapped to a machine, the Animus, that studies his DNA and triggers his memories found there. But the kicker is, him and the other subjects before him that were in the machine too long would suffer what the game calls the Bleeding Effect. Essentially, subject and their ancestors memories would become muddled and the subject would begin to have hallucinations or act as their ancestor. Which typically had dire consequences.

Game mechanics aside, I began researching DNA, memories, past lives, dreams, etc. So, with my trusty pendulum and my newbie witch books at the time. I began with meditations and visualizing my own Animus. Then, I would calmly wait for something. Eventually, that's how I came across Mikael.

Now, when this began I was able to see Mikael's memories via dreams. If these dreams ended, the dream would continue the following night. Like an Assassin's Creed save file. And since we have bonded over the years, I can do partial to full channels if needed. I haven't need to yet. But, would all of this be classified as? Are there actual terms for this? Is this spirit work? Is it mediumship? Ancestor veneration? Or did I FBI breakdown the door to my spiritual senses as a rookie?

Hello! I would like to start the path of energy work but I have basically no idea how to. Can you help me? Thank you

A great majority of it is feeling things out (no pun intended). Trying things yourself. Past the basics, there simply is not a lot available.

Let's define some very basic terms so that you can look them up later. Anything past this is honestly something you will have to teach yourself, especially relating to healing work.

Grounding: Sending excess or unneeded energy into an object or a place, usually the Earth or the Earth's core (though this could technically go anywhere), and pulling energy back up to restore your system. This is an excellent way to cleanse yourself.

Centering: Bringing your energy back to yourself from various places that are not yourself, and directly the energy to settle correctly within your body (whether this be through a pillar, imagining it as whole, imagining all your energy centers filled, etc.).

Shielding: Essentially a personal ward, usually shaped in a bubble (though basic bubble shields are ill recommended for a number of reasons). These are not just used in fights, though usually they are consciously employed for these purposes.

Scanning: Examining anything energetic.

Programming: Giving energy instructions on what to do, which is crucial. Something that is already programmed, or rather, made for a specific purpose that is not explicitly a shield, is called a "construct".

"Psiball": An energy ball. One of the basics you will usually want to learn and implement at least a couple of times before moving on to other matters.

There has been a very sharp dwindle in resources since the 2000s-2010s, but some resources and people from there are still around. Unless otherwise listed, materials are completely free.

Energy Work Resources Masterpost--

From least to most accessible (posted in groups of bullet points):

Resources available only through archive, word-of-mouth, or not readily accessible links:

Sordhent's old posts, and especially his guides to energy work and the eldritch. You can obtain these from me or anyone else who has the content stored on their devices.

Any books by Charles Cosimano (archive).

USpsionics, also has resources on the sidebar. (archive)

SacredEmber (warning: very difficult text to read). (archive)

The Veritas Society. (archive)

Robert Bruce, NEW Energy Ways.

Charles Cosimano YouTube playlist.

Old posts by Windvexer, most of which are contained in a masterpost on their new and currently maintained blog.

Resources that still have webpages up (even if they are otherwise defunct:

Psionics Institute.

r/energywork.

As a scholar, I would not *formally* recommend pirated resources for peace of mind, however, they are out there and... some people... may have some links to them. Morally I would implore you to support the author of these works when you can well afford to, even if it is in a different form.

Various books (obviously paid). Some of these are available via audiobook:

Hands of Light by Barbara Brennan.

Energy Work by Robert Bruce.

Subtle Energy by Keith Miller.

The Psychic Witch by Mat Auryn.

Anything by Cyndi Dale.

This might sound harsh but if you use AI to read tarot don’t consider yourself a tarot reader. Please use your own brain, It’s gotten alarmingly bad how y’all use robots for everything. The basis of tarot is to use your own intuition and understanding of the cards. The cards meanings also vary from reader to reader. It’s borderline pathetic to ask artificial intelligence what the spread you just pulled means and write down the exact answer it gives you for pacs on tumblr or wherever else because you can’t figure it out yourself. I’m sorry, but It’s embarrassing. There’s so many possibilities and so many messages to interpret when you read that a robot cannot catch. That’s the beauty in tarot!! You clearly don’t care for it if you use AI, if you’re gonna use it regardless at least be honest about it and don’t pretend you interpreted that by yourself. It’s ridiculous.

I'm going to make dinner, clean up, and work on my Grimoire some more, and maybe even make another post.

I did settle for my 3 ring binder for now, I like having the ability to change around what goes where. I am also visual and touch person, having something in my hands helps me keep focused. Plus, with my current situation, I have no laptop and no home Internet, just my phone.

As for Calling Corners, I actually did learn a few things, thank you y'all for helping. I did learn some new names I wasn't familiar with so I was able to do more research.

How to reference in your grimoire

If you intend on sharing your grimoire with the public or you're a fan of a more academic style of writing then you're gonna want to reference your sources to avoid any kind of plagiarism.

You may have already learned how to reference at your college/uni, in which case follow that method, but if you haven't let me show you what i've been doing in my grimoire.

The referencing style I was taught in my degree is a form of APA 7th edition. This style is best for essays and small research papers and since my grimoire is essentially a bunch of mini contextual essays stuck together I thought it was appropriate.

Here's the format:

Author Surname, Author Initials. (Date of publication/release). Title of source: sub-heading/title of chapter. Publishing company/website. Place of publication/website link. [Format]

So for example, the book I'm currently reading is Buried by Professor Alice Roberts. If I were to reference this book in this format it would look something like this:

Roberts, A. (2023). Buried, An Alternative History of The First Millennium in Britain: Water and Wine. Simon and Schuster. London. [Book]

(Its up to you whether you decide to put the chapter before the book title, it doesn't make a difference, but I prefer doing it this way.)

This reference will need to follow an in-text citation. You can do that by adding a little number in parentheses next to your quote or paraphrase that corresponds to the number on your list of references OR you can make a mini reference following this method:

(Author Surname, Author Initials. (Date of publication). Page number if required)

So following this method an in-text citation would look like this:

(Roberts, A. (2023). p1)

Tips

If you are citing a source with multiple authors, organised them alphabetically by surname, your in text citation only needs to include the first one.

If you're referencing an online upload of an old source like Internet Archive or Project Gutenberg, include the original authors name first, uploaders name/ID second and mark which is which in parenthesis, then the date of original publication if you can find it, followed by the date it was uploaded to the site.

If you are referencing a film/TV episode, use the name of the director and include (Dir) next to their name.

If you can't find a date of publication/upload then write DNA instead.

Always put your references at the back of your grimoire. If your grimoire contains multiple chapters, group them by each chapter and then organise either alphabetically or chronologically. If your in-text citation uses numbers, organise your reference list chronologically. If you're using a mini reference, organise your reference list alphabetically.

This last bit is especially important for practitioners who intend to publish their work. Please please please do not skip referencing! I've read so many traditionally published witchcraft books who's authors don't do this or do it half-assed and I can't stand it.

Readers deserve to know where your information is coming from so they can be the judge on whether or not it's appropriate for them to practice themselves. Not doing so creates a cycle of ignorance among readers and new practitioners that encourages the spread of cultural appropriation, poor media literacy and poor historical and scientific understanding. Always cite your sources.

SPELL JAR FOR LUCK

SPELL JAR FOR LUCK

Hello all,

It has been a very long time since I posted anything but I am back to practicing as of recently! I hope to continue posting more of my grimoire for you all to see. To ease myself back into the craft, I decided to do a spell jar as I am moving house soon and I need as much luck around money and prosperity and abundance as possible.

What you’ll need:

Nutmeg - money, prosperity, protection, good luck

Cinnamon - success, healing, protection, luck, money

Poppy seeds - good luck

Thyme - good luck

Mint - wealth, prosperity

Dandelion flower - hope, wishing

Salt - protection, good luck

Honey - prosperity, abundance

Buttercup - luck, money

Hair and saliva (optional) - I wanted this to be as specific to me as possible, and I felt sacrificing some of my hair would be sacrificial to boost the power of the spell.

Steps:

Cleanse the utensils you are going to use such as the jar and any measuring equiptment.

Write on a piece of paper what you need luck towards - are you moving house? Do you need luck with an exam or a job? Try to be specific, but not overly so to allow room for adjustment. (Optional: write this in yellow, green or gold pen as these colours are associated with wealth or luck. You can also include a sigil of your choosing).

Put the piece of paper in the jar alongside the rest of your ingredients.

Once the lid or stopper is fitted, light a candle and seal the jar with yellow, green or gold wax (I used yellow).

Once you have done this, hold the jar in your hands for a few seconds and think of what this luck will grant you. Imagine yourself in the position you'd like to be in if this luck is granted to you. Blow out the candle you used to seal the jar and watch as the smoke dissapears.

I have another observation/question?

When I got started on this journey in my college days, my tutor and other resources I had at the time were heavily Wiccan. They were very much the it's our way or the highway mentality.

But rituals such as Calling Corners or Quarters, is that a thing witches do? Or is that a Wiccan thing? I'm confused. Where did it come from? Why all the pomp and circumstance?

I'm currently using a chonky three ring binder myself. I like to think of it as more of my working grimoire. I'm always updating my notes. I also have a nice leather one with blank pages, but I'll use that one when I'm content with my notes.

What does everybody use for a Grimoire? The tide and true leather book, classic 3 ring notebook, or something else?

The 5 Elements

The 5 Elements

Known as the five classical elements, they represent different aspects of nature and the universe. Each element has its own unique energy and symbolism, and understanding these can help you harness their power in your own spiritual practice. The Five Elements are Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit. Each of these elements is associated with a specific direction, season, and energy. The elements are also connected to the four cardinal points of the compass. You may find that certain elements resonate with you more than others.

Earth:

The Earth element is associated with stability, grounding, and abundance. In spell work, you can use the Earth element to manifest material wealth, stability, physical body, and the natural world. The Earth element is often represented by rocks, crystals, and gemstones, as well as plants and animals. It is said to be the element that helps us connect with the physical world and our primal instincts. To work with the Earth element, you might choose to spend time in nature, meditate with crystals, or create an altar with natural materials. Some correspondences for the Earth element in spell work include:

Crystals: Green adventurine, moss agate, and jade.

Herbs: Dandelion, patchouli, and rosemary.

Colours: Brown and green

Astrology: Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn

Tarot: Pentacles

Air:

The Air element is associated with communication, transformation, intellectualism and creativity. It is associated with the mind, thought processes, and the realm of ideas.  The Air element is often represented by birds, feathers, and incense smoke. It is said to be the element that helps us connect with our higher selves and the spiritual realm. To work with the Air element, you might practice visualization, journaling, or perform a ritual with incense or feathers. Some correspondences for the Air element in spell work include:

Crystals: Clear quartz, blue lace agate, and Citrine

Herbs: Lavender, peppermint, and sage

Colours: Yellow and white

Astrology:  Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius

Tarot: Swords

Fire:

The Fire element is associated with passion, action, and transformation. It is associated with energy, vitality, and courage. In spell work, you can use the Fire element to manifest passion, creativity, and transformation. The Fire element is often represented by candles, bonfires, and lightning. It is said to be the element that helps us connect with our inner power and the power of the universe. To work with the Fire element, you might light candles, perform a bonfire ceremony, or practice energy work. Some correspondences for the Fire element in spell work include:

Crystals: Carnelian, ruby, and sunstone

Herbs: Cinnamon, ginger, and yarrow

Colours: Red and orange

Astrology: Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius

Tarot: Wands

Spirit:

The Spirit element is associated with transcendence, the unknown, connection, and the divine. In spell work, you can use the Spirit element to promote spiritual connection, meditation, and transcendence. The Spirit element is often represented by prayer, meditation, and the void. It is said to be the element that helps us connect with the divine source of all creation. To work with the Spirit element, you might practice meditation, prayer, or engage in a spiritual practice that resonates with your beliefs. Some correspondences for the Spirit element in spell work include:

Crystals: Quartz, selenite, and amethyst

Herbs: Frankincense, myrrh, and sage

Colours: White and gold

Warding & Protection 101

What is warding?

Warding is the practice of shielding or protecting something, someplace, or someone. There are a million and two different types of wards you can create-- in many ways, you are only limited by your own creativity and knowledge.

Why/when should I use a ward?

I always recommend having, at minimum, a protective ward for yourself and your living space if you practice witchcraft (or something adjacent to witchcraft). What a ward does is dependent on what it was created to do. Different people have different needs, and wards are not one-size fits all. Wards can be generic or specific, but my personal preference is a well-defined ward. By well-defined, I mean "clear in what it will and will not do".

Basics

In order to figure out what sort of ward you may need, ask yourself these questions:

What does my practice focus on?

Where might I be vulnerable?

What are my strengths and weaknesses when it comes to witchcraft?

Who and what am I comfortable with having in my space?

When and where am I comfortable with having others in my space?

What do I need to keep out, and what do I need to keep in?

What existing practices/habits may affect my wards? (e.g. cleansing, banishment, rituals, etc.)

Do I have an energy source for a ward? How do I intend to upkeep my wards?

Do my wards need to be moveable or changeable?

What resources are available to me? Are there people or entities that are willing to help me?

What, in my mundane life, do I need help with? What do I need to protect?

What actions am I taking, in my mundane life, to protect myself? (e.g. driving safely, practicing good fire safety habits, etc.)

How to make a ward

As previously stated, there are a million and two different types of wards-- and a million and two different ways to create them. Best practice is generally to lean on your personal strengths and resources to make one. Here are some more specific examples:

Herbalism: A witch who works primarily with herbs could create a protective sachet or jar that is filled with protective herbs.

Kitchen Witchcraft: Someone who practices kitchen witchcraft could cook protective foods, or incorporate small actions into their regular cooking that add protective qualities into their food (i.e. stirring a certain way, routinely using certain ingredients, etc.)

Storm Witchcraft: A witch who works with storms could use the energy of storms to protect their home. They could call on fearsome breezes to blow away harm, rainfall to wash it away, darkness to hide their home, etc.

Glamour witchcraft: A glamour witch can work on how they are perceived. Don't want someone approaching you? Make them afraid of you. Have a fearsome appearance to those who would wish you harm. Make them hesitate. Or hide yourself altogether, as if you were never there.

Deity witchcraft: Ask your gods to guide your hand, to show you how to protect yourself. Ask them to protect you, and clarify what you need protection from.

Green Witchcraft: Grow a plant with the intention of having it take the blow for you, if anything negative gets sent your way. Or have it purify your space.

Divination Wards: Use the energy of specific tarot cards to protect yourself. Write protective runes on things you care about.

Music Witchcraft: Play empowering music. Belt out a song about how nothing can harm you. Hum a tune to make things go away.

Energy Witchcraft: Envision great shields and walls, fortresses and moats. Whatever screams "protection" to you.

Etc.

Types of Wards/Ideas for Wards

Keep in mind that any ward can be for both the magical and mundane (though, always act with common sense, and act as if your wards do not exist. A ward will not make you immortal, and they can be counteracted and/or destroyed. They are there for when shit hits the fan-- but they are not a free pass to start throwing shit AT the fan!)

Transmutative wards: Tranform harmful energy sent your way into something positive and useful. (e.g. negative rumors -> increased opportunities, bad intentions -> abundance)

Baneful wards: If someone hits you, hit them back. Reflect whatever they sent to you back on them, and thensome.

Banishment Wards: If something steps into your space, kick it back out.

Hiding Wards: Hide something from prying eyes. Make it invisible, or make it appear boring/uninteresting.

Reflective wards: Reflect something's image back at them, let them see what they expect to see, or let them see themselves.

Healing wards: Protect your health, or force healing upon those who brush up against them (e.g. if someone lashes out at you because they have not been working on themselves, a healing ward can be just as painful as an outright baneful one.)

Scrambling/maze Wards: Scramble any information someone/something gets, or make them lose their way. Commonly used for unsolicited divination.

Protective wards/wall wards: Stop anything from getting in or out. Stop or prevent harm

Alarm bell wards: Warn you about things coming your way.

Comfort wards: Keep comforting/soothing energy around you.

Examples of Useful Wards

Name/Reputation wards

Household/common places wards

Wards for safe travels

Wards to keep specified spirits/entities out

Wards for malicious intent

Wards for curses/hexes

Wards for natural disasters

Wards for misfortunes

Please feel free to ask any specific questions you may have, this is only a very brief overview to introduce the topic.

I'm Also Struggling To Finish This Book. I'm Not Impressed.

Jasper Reviews "Psychic Witch" By Mat Auryn - A Fucking Dredge To Get Through

This is a book that's for a very specific audience.

This is a book for Wiccans or Wiccan-adjacent witches who can visualize, who practice "meditation" of some form, who believe in the very specific energy working system that the author describes, and who believe in the same sorts of magic/animism as the author does, i.e.:

four elements plus "quintessence" aka spirit,

a weird mangling of the concept of an inner child and shadow self brought on by modern people thinking that Carl Jung's shadow work was solely about "negativity" and "bad vibes",

everyone having a higher self,

everyone having a divine purpose,

three levels of souls,

auras,

cleansing and protecting before any and all actions even in your own space,

and so on.

I am none of those people. Mat Auryn's approach does not work for me, and I hated having to slog through 7 pages of introduction (aka Mat Auryn's backstory) only to get to the actual content and be sorely disappointed in this book that claims it can "be adjusted" to other people's spiritual/religious/magical viewpoints only to discover that it really can't. A lot of the things claimed to be universal (e.g. definitions of intuition versus psychic ability) are, in fact, not universal. I would argue this author up one side and down the other about this. Not in that the author is inherently wrong in their own definitions, but in that it's somehow universal.

I am also, as usual, docking a point for spelling magic with a K. I'm glad I own this copy, because I could go through with a pen and scribble out the unnecessary K.

This is not a useful book to someone who has already developed their own understanding of energy and energy work. But at the same time, it's so boring and stale (even with exercises all over the place) that I wouldn't want to give it to a beginner either.

Official Jasper Review: 3/10, not what I needed, and I don't want it.

Maybe other people get something from this book, but I just couldn't.
