“Kuroshitsuji comicbook vol.27. It seems I have the bad habit of making flashback scenes too fast-paced. Every month I was like “Next month, I will eventually conclude the flashback and we’ll get back to the present timeline”. The reason for my impatience is that I believe that ‘one’s present is more important than one’s past’. However, my editor told me “If you want to draw [OC’s] past, it’s now or never,” so in the end I was able to sit down and draw the flashback [to my heart’s content].” (X)

“I had originally planned to conclude the flashback with 3 chapters lol. But my editor said “There’s no way you can do that!!”, so I drew both the happy times as well as the tough times [of OC’s past] elaborately. […]” (X)

“My favourite scene [in vol.27] is the “What should I do” scene [*ch137, see above]. It’s a monologue that only the readers will ever know. The biggest challenges for me in terms of art were… the moths and also the moon phases in the background. I kept scratching my head as I had to calculate the moon phases by counting the days passing until the day of Sebastian’s summoning. (I slightly corrected them in the comicbook.)” (X) 

“This means, that you can calculate the day and time of [Sebastian’s] summoning from [the progression of] the moon phase starting from the day the twins got kidnapped. But please think of it as a very rough estimation lol. People sometimes ask me [about the exact day of Sebastian’s summoning] - maybe because he doesn’t have an [official] birthday?” (X)

It seems Yana really was *very* confused about the moon phases xD She pretty much redrew them all in the comicbook (especially ch135) and she also corrected these lines accordingly:

So the night of Sebastian’s summoning was a full moon, that means we can roughly estimate his “birthday” as OC’s butler and also RC’s death date as January 20 or 21.

Short comic, while I work on something bigger on the side. It is nevertheless a very important topic. A lot of seabirds die because they eat plastic. They feed their chicks with the waste. It’s really tragic.

Tomorrow night (Sunday, 9/27), there’s going to be a lunar eclipse, which is cool but not that uncommon. But it’s not just any lunar eclipse, but a ‘supermoon’ lunar eclipse, which happens when the moon is at the perigee of its orbit. In other words – the moon tomorrow will be bigger than normal, and kind of red. The last time we got a supermoon lunar eclipse was 1982. The next time we will get one is 2033.

So get off the couch, go outside, and look.

And maybe focus the moonlight through some kind of red crystal thing and stand under that light with the person to whom you are supposed to be bound for all eternity.

Also I’ll finish the Blood Moon Waltz before tomorrow night. It wasn’t on my to-do list this weekend, but I kind of have to do it now, right?

What I liked

-The world, how EVERYTHING is cOMinG together for the finale! How they managed to do a crossover with trolls, Arthurian legends and aliens WORK idk but!!!!

-The ANimATion!!!

-Character design is on point, the 3 gods/wizard designs *chef kiss*

-Claire’s arc, just thank you. Seeing her developing her magic!!! Being a powerful and badass sorcerer OH YES

-Claire and Morgana parallels!!!

-Jim’s arc, him meeting Deya, all of the sad and happy stuff

-Jim x Claire moments

-Blinky and Argh first meeting <3

-Morgana’s “redemption” or development, I’m going to be honest, I didn’t thought it could be possible

What I’m conflicted

-Jim not being a half troll anymore, I just don’t know how to feel about it but I can imagine his mom face when she sees him now and :’)

-Merlin I guess, I’m giving him a pass because Douxie cares for him

What I didn’t liked

-The pacing!!! Where was it? Will it come back from the war in time for the movie?!

-It was way tooooo fast, really. They had enough content to make 2-3 seasons. It felt like watching some cutscene compilation video, enough to understand what the game is about but not how it feels to play it.

-Who is everyone?!!,! Like really, who are the new characters?! The 2 previous shows relied on character driven stories, they make us care for all of the cast. I could grow to like Douxie, Archie, Arthur, Lancelot and the other new characters but they didn’t gave me enough time?!

-The designs of the knights, idk they felt of out place, their heads were way toooo big compared to other characters designs

-My girl Claire had time to train and become a powerful Wizard, how did Douxie got so much better so suddenly?!

-The tone, it was trying too had to be funny for my liking

-It was very loud, no silences or buildups. Everything had an instant pay off (can you call it pay off when it doesn’t even feel like one?)

-Steve’s development was sacrificed for a few laughs

-There were scenes that could have totally destroyed me (Jim’s capture, Merlins death, Jim’s death) but they happened so fast, the angst didn’t even had time to set in
