they should invent a new type of "staying in bed for 2-3 hours after you wake up repeatedly opening and closing apps on your phone" where it makes you feel awesome and energized and emotionally fulfilled
A little girl died from hunger in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, despite being in the area where aid trucks are distributed. Another family in the north in Gaza city was forced to eat a donkey, which for many in Palestine is inconceivable culturally. Bisan says there isn't even water (clean OR dirty) for them to drink or wash with.
The images that Israel claims are of fighters arrested and stripped in Gaza include a journalist and his family, two teenage boys, one United Nations employee, and the director of an UNRWA school.
my son who i hate
There is a heart wrenching video of a father who went to buy biscuits for his son only to return and find out his son and the man's wife had both been killed by an Israeli air strike. He is seen putting the pack of biscuits in his son's hand and saying "take it with you to heaven".
There is an indescribable pain to all of this, and I don't know what Israel thinks it's doing by ripping everyone's heart out like this if not to make the whole world resent the mere mention of it.
I don't think the question we should be asking at this point is "how do you justify this?" anymore, even if rhetorically. We need to understand that it is simply irrational to expect an occupying power that built itself on ethnic cleansing to provide any means of reasoning.
This is genocide, you don't debate genocide and you don't rationalise genocide.
I don't care what you do, but speaking about Palestine doesn't suffice anymore. Speak louder, force people to have uncomfortable conversations, call whoever the heck your representative is, go out to rallies if you can, push others to do the same - this is unlike anything we have seen.
The kids are all right
Yesterday, my community service club was doing outside litter pickup, when I overheard one of my students talking about Israel killing kids.
βYeah, Israel is killing Palestinian kids. Israel is killing children like us.β
βWhat!?β
*pulls out phone to show a video of babies in distress after the Israeli air strikes.β
βHuhh! Omg look at her!β
ββββββββββββ
I keep thinking what he meant by βus.β Children their age, racially minoritized people, or was it something else?
βββββββββββββ
The children are listening.

hi friends. since the formation of bearotonin international, the team has been extremely intentional and diligent about the kind of content we display on our blog. we decided early on that we would not reblog anything current events, political, fundraisers, social justice, or anything else going on in the real world, because we wanted bearotonin to be a single place of refuge from the terribleness of the real world. we wanted our blog to be the one small place everyone could all come to to escape from whatever horrible sad things were happening in real life.Β
we know firsthand how overwhelming life is, and we know how overwhelming and stressful it is to constantly see upsetting things in life and online, where you are constantly asked to do more, feel a certain way, give more. so we created bearotonin international to be a little safe haven from all of that. where everyone could come to escape life and just enjoy bears, regardless of who they are, where they are from, what they believe in. the team has worked hard to make bearotonin international a positive and welcoming corner of the internet that makes life just a little bit more bearable for everyone.
the team are all politically and socially active in our professional lives, our personal lives, and on our personal blogs. and we thus have felt alright allowing bearotonin to remain entirely free from real world events and tragedies. however, the team have been so thoroughly disturbed by the lack of care or even conversation for the human rights atrocity going on in front of our eyes, that we cannot stay silent on whatβs going on right now.
we do not feel this is in any way a polarizing post, but we know some people will likely take it to be one, and we are okay with that. just know that the bearotonin team loves and cares deeply for all human beings, and never condones hatred, bigotry, or violence of any form. the team loves ALL human beings and are saddened by any violence and loss of human life.
however. we must speak out against what the israeli government is doing to gaza and the innocent civilians who live there β half of whom are children. we cannot turn away from the atrocities and the genocide that is going on before our eyes and that many of our governments are not only condoning, but are actively funding. we cannot be silent, and we urge all of you not to be silent either.Β
please take the time to educate yourselves about the history of palestine, and the history of gaza, and the oppression, violence, and crimes perpetrated against its people daily for the past 7 decades. please do not be silent about this atrocity. and please take action to stand against ethnic cleansing and to stand against genocide.
we know we are going to receive hate for this post, and we know some people will be upset by us posting this. but the team cannot and will not turn a blind eye to genocide. but we could not live with ourselves if we were silent and allowed this genocide to happen without saying a word against it.Β
please note: we will not be changing the content of bearotonin, and it will continue to be a refuge and haven from the real world. our doors and arms are open to all people, no matter where they are from or what they believe in. bears are for everyone and we will continue to provide a safe corner of the internet where we can all come together to escape the awfulness of the real world and enjoy and appreciate bears.
These two kids are Hamza (the oldest) and Qusai (the youngest).
Their mother shares this video and bids them goodbye. They were both killed by Israeli bombardment 5 days ago. She says:
[Two days before Hamza and Qusai were killed, hamza asked me: "mom, when we die, where will I go?" And I told him: "you will be a bird in heaven, my love." He said: "and Qusai?" "Just like you inshallah."
And indeed, two days later, he left and took his brother with him. It's like he was preparing me for saying goodbye to both of them. Heaven is more beautiful than any place on this Earth, habibi. We will meet and be reunited one day, me, your dad and you two].
Our kids don't deserve to die already thinking about what will happen to them, they don't deserve to die already terrified, anticipating their death because the world failed them and decided their lives mean nothing. We are not numbers. Remember their names and their stories.
The consistent dehumanization language used in describing Palestinians in western media is unfathomable. The consistent denial of seeing our children as children. For everybody seeing this, don't fall into this, seek out the truth and educate yourself because that's the best and only way we can help people in Palestine. We have to amplify their voices.
When the death toll for Gaza goes up from disease, Israel will claim deniability, that those deaths were not deliberate and calculated. You see it with how settlers will talk about the genocide of Natives, that most of us "just died from disease then colonizers 'accidentally spread'". It is NEVER an accident. Famines and Diseases and always used as tool for genocide by colonizers
Gaza has a large disabled population. Wissam is just one of tens of thousands, who need medication and care, facing the devastating choice of being slaughtered at home or out on the streets. All districts in Gaza but one have been declared combat zones.
please donate to get e-sims to gazans
gazans donβt just need these e-sims to contact the world. they need them to contact other people during their worst and loneliest hours.
i canβt even imagine how it must feel, to be so afraid and alone. to just need someone to talk to.
we often call friends and family to talk to when just weβre having a bad day. and thisβ¦ these people are living day by day, unsure about the next hour, surrounded by screams, bombs, artillery and rubble.
gazans need to connect now more than ever. not just to tell their stories, but to connect to other humans. to feel a semblance of normalcy in the devastation around them. to have some sort of comfort amidst all the destruction. to be able to contact their family members and make sure theyβre okay. to hear their voices. to keep their hopes and spirit alive.
please please donate. please help connect gaza. please reach out and let them know youβre there.
please keep talking about them. keep posting. keep protesting. keep connecting with them, and connecting them with the rest of the world. donβt let anyone forget whatβs been happening to them for even a second. the world has spent almost a century in ignorance and silence, but not anymore!
donβt let their oppressors isolate them. israel is trying their best to break their spirit. donβt let them. we must stand with the palestinians and let them know weβre with them until the very end.
the palestinian cause is our cause. their fight is our fight.
remind them that theyβre not alone. donβt you dare give up. not when theyβre still fighting. and even if they stop.
donβt stop until palestine is free.

it's not IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) it's IOF (Israeli Occupation Forces)
it's not Israel-Hamas war it's Israel-Palestine war
it's not even war it's genocide
and actually it's not even Israel it's occupied Palestine
Hamas is not an extremist terror group it's an armed liberation group
they're not terrorists they're militants
israelis are not innocent civilians they're illegal settlers and occupiers
there is no two states solution, there's one Palestine from the river to the sea for everyone jews, christians and muslims and it will be free
every single time we come across what we think is the most horrific scene we have ever seen out of Gaza, we literally see something even worse right after.
i'm seeing a kid, 11 maybe 12, slowly dying on the hospital floor because according to doctors there are just no resources to save him. minutes later they announce him dead. his shirt moves up as he's carried away, we see that he has written his name on his body with a green sharpie.
he's loaded into a stretcher that has another person on it. the reporter says that the other person is also slowly dying.
there is a mother standing over the two of them, her face has lost all colour, she's crying and turning around herself as if she's looking for someone to tell this to.
now multiply this scene by over 10,000.
THIS!!!!!!!!!! most of us feel like we aren't doing enough because we can't physically stop a genocide but speaking helps!! pressuring helps!! boycotting helps and protesting helps!! please don't give up on Palestinians not when the entire world has turned their backs on them
here is how YOU can help Palestine
The painting held by the protesters is "Guernica" by Pablo Picasso. It was painted in response to an event during the Spanish Civil War in 1937 where the small Basque town was bombed extensively by Nazi German and Italian forces. 1,645 people were killed and a further 889 were injured. The town was defenseless and held no military gain or strategic value to either opposing forces.
A thousand died defenceless at the hands of an unnecessary military raid. This is a war crime condemned by thousands across the globe.
Tens of thousands more are dying today in Palestine due to Israeli "defences", yet the Western world refuses to condemn them for the same war crime, and dozens more at a much more severe rate.
Guernica communicates the same message today as an anti-war painting, however it is not a conflict if one side has the weapons and the other has their prayers.

This is a picture of Montaser Al Sawaf, another Palestinian journalist killed by the IOF:
I am continually enraged by the normalization of Palestinian people's deaths in mainstream western media, and the constant dehumanization of each of their lives. They are not just numbers -they are people who have dreams, ambitions, livelihoods, families, friends, hobbies, and interests.
The IOF is committing war crimes, crimes against humanity, is breaking dozens of international laws and UN Conventions -is committing mass genocide -but a small fraction of people in power get to determine the narrative of 'who is the REAL victim here,' by reinforcing IOF and American propaganda which sides with settler-colonial violence -and it is beyond abhorrent.
