One Of My Motivation Not To Fail Any Classes Is Student Loans. I Cannot Afford To Fail, So Passing Is

one of my motivation not to fail any classes is student loans. I cannot afford to fail, so passing is my only option. I think about my student loans, and it gives me the motivation to do my best. (not very inspirational, I know but its the truth)

UPDATE: EVERYTHING IS SO MUCH WORSE

Art Commission Info

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONATE IF YOU CAN, AND PLEASE REBLOG TO SPREAD THE WORD.

I hardly even have the energy to write this but here we go– I will restate some things again now that I have more information, and I’ll try to explain this as calmly as I can rather than how I did the very first time I found out this was happening.

THEY GAVE US LESS THAN A MONTH TO PAY $20,000.

We missed our mortgage payment in February. The mortgage is $3,200 each month, because they gave it to us for an insanely high rate. We’ve been able to keep up with it up until now but suddenly there’s been much less work and so we missed the February one.

UPDATE: EVERYTHING IS SO MUCH WORSE

This is the letter telling us to pay for February, plus $2,600 in “legal fees” that they added, totaling $6,000.

The payments are meant to be automatic. In March, when we did have the money, they did not take it even though they were supposed to. My dad had even messaged them telling them to take it and they would not. They did this purposefully so that they could now have “two” months of “missed” payments over us. They need three months in order to be able to evict us.

There’s $6,400 in mortgage alone, not including the February “legal fees” or any that they probably also added for March. Originally, they had first demanded that we pay these overdue payments.

THEN, they decided to add April into it. Mortgage x 3 = $9,600. Within a span of few days, they keep changing their own story. They just keep adding to it!!! You can see that the very first letter was received on April 4. The most recent letter that I will show in a moment, is from April 18. In just these few days, they added so many more payments into it??? And now, since they keep changing their story, they have these three months on us!!!

Thanks to loans from friends, kind donations, and work of course, we were able to collect $6,000 and quickly rushed to the bank to create a bank draft (a very official cheque) for $6,000 and we quickly mailed it off to them. We wanted to pay them the $6,000 we had ASAP so that we could have paid something and they couldn’t evict us, right?

We fell into a short moment of calm where we thought we were safe from being evicted now. We paid $6,000 and they couldn’t evict us and we’d pay the rest as soon as we had it. Of course you know this didn’t last. THEY MAILED THE CHEQUE BACK. SAYING THAT THEY WOULDN’T ACCEPT IT UNLESS IT CONTAINED THE FEBRUARY, MARCH, AND APRIL PAYMENTS. If they want the money so badly shouldn’t they just accept the $6,000 and take the rest later? No, because then they KNOW they can’t evict us, and that’s EXACTLY what they are trying to do. THEY WANT THIS TO BE AS IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO PAY AS POSSIBLE. They could have taken the $6,000 but then they are unable to evict us, and they want to evict us.

THEN, THEY ADD MAY.

Our mortgage payments are “officially” meant to be paid on the 2nd of each month, but my dad had agreed with them to pay on the 25th of each month. That is how it has been the entire time we have lived here and they know this. But suddenly, they decided that we need to pay for May as well, because if we were to pay on May 25th, that falls after their May 20th deadline. So they suddenly said the 2nd again because that’s how it is in the papers, even though they have agreed previously that the 25th was okay, and BAM THERE IS A 4TH MONTH ON US??? They are literally looking for every way they can to fuck us over.

UPDATE: EVERYTHING IS SO MUCH WORSE

This is the most recent letter, telling us to pay $20,000!!!!! How could they just go and suddenly change it to THIS??? Mortgage x 4 is $12,800, the rest is literally “LEGAL FEES” AND INTEREST THAT THEY KEEP STACKING ON US OUT OF NOWHERE. $5,400 is just for their lawyer who only sent us one letter and then proceeded to ignore and avoid us when we wanted to question him further!!

UPDATE: EVERYTHING IS SO MUCH WORSE

It is literally fucking evil how they are trying their hardest to make this unpayable for us. I don’t even think it’s about getting this money, or else they would have taken the $6,000 when we sent it to them. It is about making this unpayable for any person, so that they can take the whole house from us. They could have easily taken this $6,000 from us and taken the rest later, but they wouldn’t even accept it until it was the full $20,000 that they suddenly decided that they want. So many of that are just fees that they made up!!!!

This isn’t even counting other bills that we have to pay such as electricity and food.

It is so. Fucking. Wrong.

And my family is SO TERRIFIED.

Worst case scenario ? We will get evicted. We will be HOMELESS. IF, we have any money, we might be able to rent an apartment. Apartments are expensive and require 2 month’s rent upfront. We wouldn’t have enough bedrooms for all our family members. We wouldn’t have enough space to take most of our belongings. We wouldn’t be able to take ANY of our animals (2 dogs and 6 rescue cats) as no apartments near us allow animals (we checked) and even the shelters in the area are utterly horrible and careless (in addition to charging you per animal..) Most of our animals are unadoptable as well. And this is all IF we can even afford an apartment, IF we are left truly homeless, we’d still lose everything, on top of having nowhere to go to and social services possibly even taking my 10 and 6 year old siblings away.

THE ONLY REALISTIC OPTION FOR US is somehow paying this off, because we need to stay here long enough to sell this house. My house has been on the market for 3 weeks now and only one person has come to even view it so far, and wasn’t interested in buying it. If we can sell this house, which we definitely should be able to…with a little more time… Then we can pay off the full mortgage and move elsewhere, where we won’t have this problem again.

No, sueing is not a realistic option. How can we go against this entire corporation and their lawyers? Our own lawyers would cost thousands that we don’t have, court would take ages, and they would still evict us in the meantime. They know this. They know we are powerless against them.

My dad is working as hard as he can but his job is being very slow at the moment. He installs floors and normally at this time of year, he should be buried in work but for some reason he isn’t getting any. On top of that, his boss from the main store he works at hates him and purposefully does not give him work. The other 3 stores he is hired at simply are not giving him much to do.

I am applying to all the jobs I can but none are contacting me back. I am so frustrated. One job in particular nearby my house would have been the most perfect option for me and they hired someone else instead. I am still trying to search for a job but we also live in a kind of middle of nowhere area and I have limited transportation. I am trying my absolute best. I’m also doing art commissions - PLEASE consider getting one if you can!!!

My mom doesn’t speak a word of English, cooks and cleans constantly, and takes care of my young siblings every day, and yet is still searching for a job for herself… I have no idea how she will get one without being able to speak English or having any experience.

My parents don’t really have any friends/family in Canada. I have a very small family and they are all in Poland and very poor. We’re usually the ones sending them money every month. We’re even considering asking my grandma in Poland to take out a loan from the bank for us, but my mom is so embarrassed to ask her for fear of terrifying her too much (she hasn’t told her any of this so as to not stress her out…) and they are unlikely to even give my grandma a loan since she is poor and very old. We can’t really ask her for much help but we might just have to. Even if she is able to get a loan for us, we will still be far from our goal… But my mom thinks there’s no way the bank will give my grandma a loan.

We are literally doing everything we can and they are just trying their hardest to take this house from us… It’s sick. It’s horrifying. I never knew that people could be this completely evil. To think that within a span of just a few days they would change their own story like 3 times just to make this harder and harder for us…

PLEASE help us if you can!!! If each follower could donate even a dollar, that would help immensely. Please reblog to spread the word too! Please look at my commissions…! This looks like a very hopeless situation but hope is really all I can have anymore. All I can do is hope for a miracle.. I’m trying my best to apply for more jobs and hopefully get hired somewhere. My dad should have some work for the next week. Maybe we can do this– we have to do this… The outcome if we can’t is more horrible than I can even imagine…

Please donate if you can, I greatly appreciate all the help we can get.

I’m so sorry for being annoying posting this… I know it’s not nice to see this post but this is my biggest outlet to hopefully get a bit of help.

I will keep you updated as I learn more and thank you so much to anyone who may be able to help or who has helped so far.

2018

- wake up with your alarm. don’t lie there for another half an hour. seize the day

- have a glass of water as soon as you wake up and before you go to sleep. hydrate

- stretch. do some yoga. try and do the splits or even just touch your toes. relax and meditate and focus on your breathing

- even if you’re not going out, change your clothes and your underwear. clean is always better

- go for run. or a walk. or to the gym. even just once a week. just get outside

- read a little everyday. maybe for leisure or maybe for class. just learn

- new music is always lush. spotify, apple music, a live gig. go hear someone’s heart

- cut things out that make you unhappy. people, relationships, certain foods, habits, anything

- study hard. work hard. get it. the job, the degree, the relationship. just do it for you

- check your boobs everyday. make doctors appointments

- eat a piece of fruit and veg everyday. we all know 5 a day is far fetched, especially for students

- compliment people. you never know how much someone needs to hear something positive

- compliment yourself. look at yourself in the mirror and say five things you like and maybe one to improve. you can always better yourself but don’t make that your be all and end all

- a relationship should never be your everything. it’s lush to be smitten and to have someone smitten with you but be sure not to become half a person. you are a whole. reclaim your independence. learn to love your solitude

- don’t forget your friends. keep in touch with people. don’t be glued to your phone but make sure you stay in contact

- give yourself time to heal. grief is a weird thing and time isn’t always the healer. you’ll have good days and bad days and you should never feel bad for crying. it’s not over and you don’t have to move on in the way people think you should. memories are good things

- don’t put so much pressure on yourself. eat that pizza. buy that charity shop coat. there’ll always be money and there’s always tomorrow to eat a salad. calm down

- stress is the silent killer. you don’t need that first degree or that promotion. do your best and you’ll be rewarded

- say fuck it once in a while. or a lot. a couple of g&ts, a party, a new outfit

- have sex or don’t have sex. it’s a lot of fun when your needs are met and you’re enjoying yourself with someone you love or just like the look of

- withdraw consent if you get uncomfortable. at the beginning, middle, end, it’s always okay. don’t let social expectations dictate your choices. the idea of being a slut doesn’t exist unless you’re hurting someone you’ve made monogamous promises to. other than that you’re good

- get checked and be good to your body. sex is great if your mind and body are good with it too

- take photos. paint. write in a journal. document your life. you never know when you’ll need some nostalgia or a creative outlet

- families aren’t perfect but they’ll always be in your life in some way. in person or in your heart and memory. try to make them good memories. there are those without parents and siblings and grandparents who would give anything to have what you have. try a little. take the higher ground

- mental health is important. cut out anything that could contribute to its downfall. your mind’s long life is more important than temporary fixes

- listen to the people close to you. most of the time they have your best interests at heart and they’re trying to help you see what maybe you can’t. don’t take things so personally

- we’re living in a time of hate. be a ray of sunshine to this dark world. don’t seclude yourself to your own cave. that isn’t what self love is. we need to take care of ourselves first, yes, but remember to love each other too

- take one day at a time

I swear i questioned life more than i already do already.

what does your bio mean? "the sea was never blue" ?

Homer used two adjectives to describe aspects of the colour blue: kuaneos, to denote a dark shade of blue merging into black; and glaukos, to describe a sort of ‘blue-grey’, notably used in Athena’s epithet glaukopis, her ‘grey-gleaming eyes’. He describes the sky as big, starry, or of iron or bronze (because of its solid fixity). The tints of a rough sea range from ‘whitish’ (polios) and ‘blue-grey’ (glaukos) to deep blue and almost black (kuaneos, melas). The sea in its calm expanse is said to be ‘pansy-like’ (ioeides), ‘wine-like’ (oinops), or purple (porphureos). But whether sea or sky, it is never just ‘blue’. In fact, within the entirety of ancient Greek literature you cannot find a single pure blue sea or sky.

— The Sea Was Never Blue, Maria Michela Sassi

What, from a cursory glance, appears blue generally has more to say. You lift a precious stone to the sunlight and it lights up, it refracts, but there’s always a side you can’t see. If you think you’ve thought of it all, think a little longer. There’s always more to consider.

Dear People Who Smoke

I don’t know if you have considered this but stop smoking in areas where people are forced to wait at. Don’t smoke at crosswalks. Don’t smoke outside doorways. Don’t smoke at bus stops. People with asthma or other breathing conditions or people that idk DON’T WANT TO BREATHE IN YOUR CIGARETTE SMOKE are trying to get to places and need to be able to breathe. Stop smoking in crowded areas. stop smoking in crowded areas. STOP FORCING NONSMOKERS TO SECOND HAND SMOKE.

2018 Goals

24 Invaluable Skills To Learn For Free Online This Year

Here’s an easy resolution: This stuff is all free as long as you have access to a computer, and the skills you learn will be invaluable in your career, and/or life in general.

1. Become awesome at Excel.

Chandoo is one of many gracious Excel experts who wants to share their knowledge with the world. Excel excellence is one of those skills that will improve your chances of getting a good job instantly, and it will continue to prove invaluable over the course of your career. What are you waiting for?

2. Learn how to code.

littleanimalgifs.tumblr.com

Perhaps no other skill you can learn for free online has as much potential to lead to a lucrative career. Want to build a site for your startup? Want to build the next big app? Want to get hired at a place like BuzzFeed? You should learn to code. There are a lot of places that offer free or cheap online coding tutorials, but I recommend Code Academy for their breadth and innovative program. If you want to try a more traditional route, Harvard offers its excellent Introduction to Computer Science course online for free.

3. Make a dynamic website.

You could use a pre-existing template or blogging service, or you could learn Ruby on Rails and probably change your life forever. Here’s an extremely helpful long list of free Ruby learning tools that includes everything from Rails for Zombies to Learn Ruby The Hard Way. Go! Ruby! Some basic programming experience, like one of the courses above, might be helpful (but not necessarily required if you’re patient with yourself).

4. Learn to make a mobile game.

If you’re not interested in coding anything other than fun game apps, you could trythis course from the University of Reading. It promises to teach you how to build a game in Java, even if you don’t have programming experience! If you want to make a truly great game, you might want to read/listen up on Game Theory first.

5. Start reading faster.

Spreeder is a free online program that will improve your reading skill and comprehension no matter how old you are. With enough practice, you could learn to double, triple, or even quadruple the speed at which you read passages currently, which is basically like adding years to your life.

6. Learn a language!

With Duolingo, you can learn Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, or English (from any of the above or more). There’s a mobile app and a website, and the extensive courses are completely free.

Full disclosure: BuzzFeed and other websites are in a partnership with DuoLingo, but they did not pay or ask for this placement.

7. Pickle your own vegetables.

Tired of your farmer’s market haul going bad before you use it all? Or do you just love tangy pickled veggies? You too can pickle like a pro thanks to SkillShare and Travis Grillo.

8. Improve your public speaking skills.

You can take the University of Washington’s Intro to Public Speaking for free online. Once you learn a few tricks of the trade, you’ll be able to go into situations like being asked to present at a company meeting or giving a presentation in class without nearly as much fear and loathing.

9. Get a basic handle of statistics.

UC Berkeley put a stats intro class on iTunes. Once you know how to understand the numbers yourself, you’ll never read a biased “news” article the same way again — 100% of authors of this post agree!

10. Understand basic psychology.

Knowing the basics of psych will bring context to your understanding of yourself, the dynamics of your family and friendships, what’s really going on with your coworkers, and the woes and wonders of society in general. Yale University has its Intro to Psychology lectures online for free.

11. Make your own music.

Step one: Learn how to play guitar: Justin Guitar is a fine and free place to start learning chords and the basic skills you’ll need to be able to play guitar — from there, it’s up to you, but once you know the basics, just looking up tabs for your favorite songs and learning them on your own is how many young guitar players get their start (plus it’s an excellent party trick).

Step two: A delightful free voice lesson from Berklee College Of Music.

Step three: Have you always thought you had an inner TSwift? Berklee College of Music offers an Introduction to Songwriting course completely for free online. The course is six weeks long, and by the end of the lesson you’ll have at least one completed song.

Step four: Lifehacker’s basics of music production will help you put it all together once you have the skills down! You’ll be recording your own music, ready to share with your valentine or the entire world, in no time!

12. Learn to negotiate.

Let Stanford’s Stan Christensen explain how to negotiate in business and your personal life, managing relationships for your personal gain and not letting yourself be steamrolled. There are a lot of football metaphors and it’s great.

13. Stop hating math.

If you struggled with math throughout school and now have trouble applying it in real-world situations when it crops up, try Saylor.org’s Real World Math course. It will reteach you basic math skills as they apply IRL. Very helpful!

14. Start drawing!

All kids draw — so why do we become so afraid of it as adults? Everyone should feel comfortable with a sketchbook and pencil, and sketching is a wonderful way to express your creativity. DrawSpace is a great place to start. (I also highly recommend the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain if you can drop a few dollars for a used copy.)

15. Make your own animated GIF.

BuzzFeed’s own Katie Notopoulos has a great, simple guide to making an animated GIF without Photoshop. This is all you need to be the king or queen of Tumblr or your favorite email chains.

16. Appreciate jazz.

reddit.com

Have you never really “gotten” jazz? If you want to be able to participate in conversations at fancy parties and/or just add some context to your appreciation of all music, try this free online course from UT Austin.

17. Write well.

Macalester College’s lecture series is excellent. If you’re more interested in journalism, try Wikiversity’s course selection.

18. Get better at using Photoshop.

Another invaluable skill that will get you places in your career, learning Photoshop can be as fun as watching the hilarious videos on You Suck At Photoshop or as serious as this extensive Udemy training course (focused on photo retouching).

19. Take decent pictures.

Lifehacker’s basics of photography might be a good place to start. Learn how your camera works, the basic of composition, and editing images in post-production. If you finish that and you’re not sure what to do next, here’s a short course on displaying and sharing your digital photographs.

20. Learn to knit.

Instructables has a great course by a woman who is herself an online-taught knitter. You’ll be making baby hats and cute scarves before this winter’s over!

21. Get started with investing in stocks.

If you are lucky enough to have a regular income, you should start learning about savings and investment now. Investopedia has a ton of online resources, including this free stocks basics course. Invest away!

22. Clean your house in a short amount of time.

Unf$#k Your Habitat has a great emergency cleaning guide for when your mother-in-law springs a surprise visit on you. While you’re over there, the entire blog is good for getting organized and clean in the long term, not just in “emergencies.” You’ll be happier for it.

23. Start practicing yoga.

Most cities have free community classes (try just searching Google or inquiring at your local yoga studio), or if you’re more comfortable trying yoga at home, YogaGlohas a great 15-day trial and Yome is a compendium of 100% free yoga videos. If you’re already familiar with basic yoga positions but you need an easy way to practice at home, I recommend YogaTailor’s free trial as well.

24. Tie your shoelaces more efficiently.

It’s simple and just imagine the minutes of your life you’ll save!
