I found a small wizard in my pocket today

I was rewatching Anthem ep. 1 as research for a fic and I realized Pyke said he’s died before? Like he literally told Waxley “it’s not the first time”. So, clearly this is a Pyke Thing, but not one well known enough for Waxley to have heard of it. But we do know that Solari are fairly rare (at least according to Overture, idk if they changed that for Anthem), so information about them may just not be common knowledge

I feel like in Overture there was metion of Rex being jealous of Pyke for having his star powers with the gauntlet and Pyke being Leo Khan's favorite or getting special training/treatment after those powers awakened or something.

If true, this could mean that all of the star powers are just a Pyke thing, or are rare for Solar elves, but this was before Anthem and the creation of Solari as a race, so it's possible that this was added as a species trait later on or that they tweaked it so that all Solari have Pyle's gauntlet blast powers now.

Anyway, Pyke has serious Main Character Energy so I wouldn't be super surprised if he was blessed by the stars or the subject of a prophecy, but it all may just be new Solari traits.

I was thinking (big mistake) and came to multiple wild scenarios due to Pyke’s phoenix features, since im really into fire themes I was really hyped when I heard anything about a phoenix (fave fantasy critter) but the more I think about it the wilder it gets. Because there are two options to this, one this is just a solari thing everyone can do and two this is a reserved for a specific group of people.

When watching the second episode it is described as just a solari feature which I guess implies that it is something everyone can do and that is so freaking insane. Imagine a whole planet, a whole race of people who don’t die when they’re killed, not only that but they IMPLODE with radiant light that DAMAGES people in a 30 foot radius.

That’s crazy, I’m sorry, yes it’s not a lot of damage and yes they don’t come back at full Health but as they grow and become stronger they come back stronger and deal more damage that’s like,,, crazy. I wonder if it’s a widely known fact or if the solari are secretive about it, if because of that maybe it’s uncommon to see them around or smt.

Does it affect old age? Like do you die bc you’re old and then you come back for a little to fix some of your shit and then the grim reaper comes for you again? In the technical sense the player can choose whether to do it or not but in the context of the universe do the solari themselves do it? Can you go “yeah this is it”? Or does it just happen sometimes and sometimes not.

How does that affect their society, their religion, culture I need to know please.

If it is reduced to a certain amount of people though is it like a recessive gene or is it tied to Pyke’s training? Or both? Is there a congregation that searches for those with this special ability to nurture them? To keep them safe? Who knows!

If this is the case it might not be widespread knowledge so imagine the outside world’s reaction to this shit.

Imagine poor Rett, he’s in the middle of a fight and suddenly this man he’s been working with for a while falls, and Rett’s seen dead bodies he knows and it’s a shock and it’s surprising and scary and brings back terrible memories and just as he’s beginning to compartmentalize, to shove it all down for now so he can focus on getting to Pyke and administering medical attention there’s this massive surge of light.

It’s bright, it’s hot, more than hot burning and it’s coming from Pyke? The fuck? Suddenly a goddamn explosion of radiant light fills the room, the enemy staggers back slightly confused and the same man he just saw lying dead on the floor STANDS BACK UP ready to keep on going, I’m sorry??? I would scream.

Andy says that Rett’s tech scares the shit out of Pyke because it’s a controlled black hole who wouldn’t be fucking terrified of that shit, but I feel like it’s mutual because what do you mean you can die and sometimes come back what do you mean.

Because death is one of the few constants of the world and he’s SUBVERTING IT took the tight line between life and death and began using it as a jumping rope.

Now picture the prison. Imagine a group of prisoners gang up on Pyke and beat the shit out of him, the guards dont get there in time, his body goes slack and everyone just kind of stands and waits for a moment in shocked silence.

Then light, tons of it, radiating like solar waves and suddenly the guy bloodied on the floor is taking in gasping lungfuls of breath and all the hair on your face got singed. The inmates are stumped, the guards are stumped, the medics are like he did what now? Me personally I wouldn’t bother that guy anymore idk about y’all.

I know that stardust is generally a soft sci-fi system so it might never be explained in detail but I personally would like to know a little more about it. Be it that it’s actually important to Pyke’s backstory or just during a QnA my brain begs for more information with its grubby little hands.

This is on the same being of Pyke just fucking sprouting wings, like even if the whole explanation is that there is an old ass legend or smt about a blessing, or that they have a connection to the stars, or that they have some inherent restorative magic that only works on themselves im really curious,,,,

Anyways give me ur theories I want to know what people think.

CoS ep. 6 was getting too intense, so I thought 'oh, I'll watch some one-shots from the one-shot playlist' and then got so deeply uncomfortable from the Anime Waifu One-shot that I was literally itchy all over.

I believe the consensus was that 5 rouges with short bows, given enough arrows, space to run, and a headstart, could beat 100 gorillas by firing at them from a distance and then bonus action dashing away so that the gorillas never got within range to throw rocks at them. The whole thing was like when you ask a guy what animals he could take in a fight, but nerd version. They literally talked about this for 32 minutes.

Alright I missed most of the pre session chat, why were people talking about jars and gorillas?

Expanding on this because I have had Thoughts.

In his letter telling them to watch Torbek, Mr. Witch (or maybe Light, I don't remember) tells the Krew that Frost is fine, but will only stay fine if they watch Torbek. What if they called his bluff? What if Kremy thought he wouldn't possibly actually do something to Frost and the others agreed, and Gideon is all about freedom and Gricko, I think, out of all of them cares the most about Torbek, so they give Torbek the choice to go and explain the situation to him, probably at Gricko's insistence, just like he insists on it in Twig's Inn in the canon storyline. He decides to stay because Torbek wants to help Frost out.

So then they go back to Mr. Witch and Mr. Light and refuse to turn Torbek over, probably planning to threaten Mr. Witch and Mr. Light into giving Frost back, only they refuse to return him because they need someone to send to the Feywild and Frost was their backup all along because they saw how powerful he was in the Big Top Extravaganza and figure he could survive the torture. They do like him better than Torbek, who's been a pain in their asses for a weeks, but he did bring the happiness of the carnival down and bring up some painful memories for Mr. Light.

So Mr. Light has Burly or someone shackle Frost up (possibly with some kind of power suppressing shackles, similar to how the Krew had to distract Torbek for an hour so they could find strong enough shackles) and bring him to the mirror to Prismeer, where either one of the hag's minions or someone working for the doctor come and pick him up, and Burly uses the poem to open it, and the Krew sneaks after him and hear the password, so the Krew goes through the mirror. But because of the passing of time being all wonky, all signs of Frost are already gone.

All the regular stuff happens, but with Torbek instead of Frost. The Krew is at the Inn at the End of the Road trying to get some rest and find Frosty when they see a familiar figure out the window with a horrible magenta glow to his eyes they of course immediately recognize him, and let him in, only to realize that he's now a horrific mutated version of himself.

And then they have to fight Frosty, and I do think they would be a lot more hesitant to hurt Frost than Torbek. Gricko might just outright refuse to hurt Frosty, but Frost would still go after him and horribly injure him. And once Frost is no longer under the influence of the Witchlight he would feel horrible and try to separate himself from the others to protect them and probably refuse to see gricko because he hurt him (Grimmorning angst, romantic or no) and Kremy would feel bad because it was his idea to csl Mr. Witch and Mr. Light's bluff and look how that turned out, but of course my emotionally repressed lizard man wouldn't do anything about it. aakdmskkfjakfjfj I want this au so bad.

Spoilers for Once Upon a Witchlight Episode 8 and onward

Currently imagining an AU where instead of having them trade Torbek to get Frost back, Mr. Witch just sends Frost into the feywild to get experimented on. Frost becoming the one possessed by The Other. Frost, who so greatly values his mind and his control of it losing control. The other's reaction to learning Frost is GONE. The Krew going into the feywild to save their friend instead of Zabilna. The Krew having to fight Frosty because he lost control. Frost's guilt after attacking his family. Oh my god

Help me find a book!

My sister brought up many stranded braiding today and I remembered vague details of a book I read once and now not knowing is driving me insane.

here’s what I know:

I probably read this in middle school, so it was generally appropriate for that age, but I was reading way above my age level so it may have been a little above that

The main character was a girl who’s mom died

she had gigantic, poofy, uncontrollable red (I think it was red (but orange red not died red)) hair that she would put in an 8-stranded braid to keep it out of the way

Her dead (or maybe missing but I think dead) Mom also had this hair and would braid it this way

Her dad braided her hair this special way (because mom was dead) and eventually taught her how to braid her hair this way and learning to do her own 8-strand braid was important to her and s big thing about her independence

I think the inciting incident had something to do with her dad being killed/kidnapped but I might be wrong

she went on some sort of adventure to uncover clues and such that involved puzzle she had to solve that was 8 strips of cloth (I think they were red? (Red as in red, not red as in orange like hair)) that she had to braid in the special way to reveal the secret message, which then told her something about her mom and the origin of the braid

To braid the fabric she had to drape it over her head like hair because she had only ever done the braid on herself and she thought about her missing (or dead?) dad and how he used to braid her hair.

I think there was some sort of wise old man who helped her out with the puzzle but I might be making that up considering my interest in books it was probably fantasy and/or YA but idk

Anyway, lmk if you know what book this is and can confirm this is it a fever dream or have a recommendation on how to find it. Thanks!

spoiler warning for stardust Rhapsody episode 15 and 16

I know it's been several days since sdr, but I just want to point out that none of it is any less real. Look me in the eyes when I tell you that every story is entirely made up and just because it isn't canon doesn't make it any less real. I have been in the Marauders fandom for years. Do you think I care what's canon? Just because s1 isn't part of the canon storyline can't erase that the story was told and lived and loved. You can still go back and watch it whenever you want. It's still there, and a story within a story is just as real to us as the story itself.

And honestly? I'm not too sad about the whole thing. Was Leboosh one of my favorite characters, and one that I will deeply miss not seeing in the same way again? Yes, of course. But I'm also excited for a new storyline with Ziggy and to have Derek playing a character that he feels fully happy and comfortable with. I think Leboosh did well in emotional scenes, but if Derek didn't feel connected to the story on the way he wanted to be, he's the one playing and he should be having fun, and if everyone is having fun it will be more fun to watch.

Also a part of me is just excited that Pyke is alive. I don't think I could have dealt with a full season of Rett missing Pyke and having a crew that was just Rett, Leboosh, and Chuckles. Like, I love those characters, but of the others are all gone and 2/3 of the party feels trapped by who they're playing, how fun will it be?

aldo, tell me the everyone leaving and then Mace alone and then Pyke reading with him wasn't gut wrenching and cool af.

TL,DR: I will miss the old characters and I realize that this means we won't get anymore of the old SDR, but I think this was the right choice for everyone to have fun and make this campaign the best that it could be

I've learned many things from watching Legends of Avantris. How to play D&D, the importance of friendship and what makes good story telling. But the most important thing I've learned is that the #1 cause of death over 40 is accidents.
