my favorite characterization phenomena is whatever the hell sniper TF2 has going on. he is canonically from new zealand his name is technically mun-dee and he is not the ideal in-universe version of an australian because he can't grow a mustache or australia-shaped chest hair or engage in fist fights for fun but he is also culturally and clearly Australian and it's fascinating. issue 7 has a joke of him having that Australian thingy of stealing shit for fun, his accent is undoubtedly aussie, his actual social name is Mick Mundy, he was raised in Australia since he was a baby and he DID fight he just did it from afar. fascinating specimen.
